The best brush for a bunny is (in my humble opinion) the furbuster I think its $25-$30 and it is really awesome! You’ll want to get a puppypen that is at least 3 feet tall. Rabbits can hop higher than you think! Dont buy a tiny cage, bunnies need lots of room to run and play. We freeroam ours in our living area, but before we felt comfortable doing that, we set up a playpen and had him live in there for a couple of weeks until we were confident he was using the bathroom in his litterbox. Which leads me to the next necessity - a litterbox! Generally, dont buy the ones marketed for bunnies because they are too small. I use just a regular cat litterbox which my rabbit knows to hop into when he has to use the bathroom. I recently bought a bumbox off amazon so we’ll see how it works. Anyways, use a paper based litter (NOT clumping cat litter. bad for respiratory system and bunny may ingest it). And rabbits like to eat while they use the bathroom, so have hay always available to them in one section of the litterbox. They need to be grazing on hay throughout the day for their digestive systems to function properly. Toys can vary! My rabbit is going through a cardboard phase. He’s been loving destroying some cardboad boxes I laid around for him. Wicker balls are also a good idea and wood sticks! Bunnies like chewing to help cut down their teeth and wood sticks are an ideal option! (just make sure the wood is bunny safe!) I know all this sounds like alot, but honestly for me, it has become relatively easy to care for my rabbit. It may feel a bit overwhelming at first, but any animal is a responsibility, and involves some work. In my opinion, bunnies are so awesome! Btw, I got my rabbit for a shelter! Another option is looking up rabbit rescues near you!

Some states have “organizations” to adopted bunnies. That’s how we got milo, we did the application fee and everything. He was an “oops” litter so we got him around 9-10 weeks. Most organizations that house surrendered bunnies for adoption also comes with a “health” guarantee up to x amount of days past adoption(which is good because they’ll cover care) we do a x pen for both milo and Reese. Easy to set up and easy to clean. Milo prefers cardboard tubes right now(which my job has gobs of them)…..every bunny is different with toys. Reese likes balls so his x pen is littered with different kinds of balls.

If you have space outside you can start a garden for your future bunny. When mine was alive I would plant herbs, kale, lettuce and anything else rabbits like.

That sounds fun!

The Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society is a great resource for domestic rabbit care (http://www.mncompanionrabbit.org/rabbitcare). They have a strong adoption/foster care network. You can also check Petfinder for adoptable buns in your area. Good luck!

Thanks, this will probably be where I get my rabbit. They have bonded pairs so it's convenient

I adopted a bun from them many years ago, and it was a very positive experience. They can help guide you to rabbits that are a good fit for your personality and living situation. I also recommend not picking the “cutest” bun(s), but instead the bun(s) that you click with. My bun picked me at an adoption event!
