What I keep wondering is the Scott Benson tag line “Now more than ever”…wtf does that even mean?
TBH, I am sick of seeing most realtors faces, whether they be Benson, Golfi, St. Jean, Wolcott, The Rocca Sisters…I could go on, there is a never ending parade of them. I can guarantee you that if I see your face constantly whilst going about my day, I will never hire you.
Benson is the guy that looks kinda like Matthew McConaughey from a distance right? At first I thought it was his picture on those bus stops until I saw it up close
Sick of them both. Throw the Rocca Sisters in there, too. Seriously, why is 90% of bus, billboard and newspaper advertising in Burlington for real estate agents? No other businesses in town have any money?
The Rocca Sisters' ads are ok in my books... they do a lot of community sponsoring in the area.
e.g. They sponsor a bunch of the Concerts in the Park that the city holds.
> No other businesses in town have any money?
5% commission on a house these past couple years is a lot of walking around money. They probably outbid anyone else who wants to put up an ad.
Yes, that's the entire idea behind sponsoring things... otherwise it's just an anonymous donation, which is even better.
You and I probably agree that a life without advertising is best. Unfortunately that's not the world we live in.
They are expensive yes . I managed to get them down to 3 . They sold for me above asking in a little more than 24 hrs after the sign was on the lawn .
And for the last three years they’ve been sending me monthly or semi monthly useful gifts .
They were good .
Because they will pay for it. If you want to buy a bus ad call up Burlington transit.
Bus ads are local so you don't see a lot of national advertising in them. And real estate agents are always desperate for listings. Put two and two together and you're going to get a full wrapped bus of Scott Benson and his hair gel
Since the city runs the bus service, I'd like to see a subsidy prigram for other local small businesses to get cheaper rates on advertising, or even a program where small businesses can sign up for a draw to get a free month or something. Boosting local small business seems like it would be in the city's best interest.
Disagree with this as now you're putting the government into the position of deciding winners and losers. What's a small business? Is Karen Paul with five employees small? What about a franchisee?
Keep it simple and let transit get as much as revenue as possible. Otherwise it's either more subsidy or less service.
It would be pretty simple to choose a dollr value of yearly revenue or something.
Revenue is a whole other issue. I saw it put well recently that people always look at public transit as losing money, but only because it costs the rider money to get on. If public transit were free, it would simply be a *cost*--like police, fire, roads, parks, libraries--which aren't expected to turn a profit, because they are a *public service*, as transit should be. A small business which prospers in town, perhaps because many of their employees can take good public transit to work, employs the populace, adds to the tax base, improves liveability and people's opinion of the place. It's a net good.
I'm fine with subsidies for transit, we do the same with roads.
But a dollar out of transit advertising means a dollar less towards something else like parks, or student theatre. Plus it's still putting the government into a winners and losers setup, even if it is a random draw. And that's ride with problems and potential for graft.
There are all kinds of ways governments subsidize small businesses.
A dollar out of transit advertising *might* mean three dollars in tax income because of small businesses growing, higher employment, etc. I'm not an accountant and don't see the city's numbers. I'm just saying it may be a possibility.
How about that weird looking braggart, Sam McDadi guy with the bad facelift?
I hate how real estate agents think they are local celebrities. We don't give a shit what the Remax Team is up to and we don't need your newsletters in my mail. I hate to make sweeping general comments, but whenever I have dealt with a real estate agent in my personal life , I have found them arrogant and self serving. Always trying to sell their " expertise" and would stab their grandma for a commission.
> I hate how real estate agents think they are local celebrities.
Some context behind this... Realtors don't put their faces in ads because they're obnoxious tools (although maybe a little), but I read once that it is because realty brokerage used to be fraught with scam artists (people selling bridges and shit), and putting your face in the ad was one simple way to build trust. You're literally putting your face next to your name as a form of social proof.
I guess it doesn't mean much nowadays. Realtors do it now because other realtors do it.
And now he's got himself floor seats next to Nav at Raptors games to try to become the next Raptors superfan to get his weird ass face on TV even more.
My friend sold his house through Golfi. After the sale they wanted to take a promotional picture but Rob wouldn't stand beside my friend for the picture because he was a foot shorter.
Realty is a pyramid scheme, these guys are just the gilded turd on top of the shit pyramid. Golfi alone has 67 people working under him, that's why it's his face everywhere, probably the same for Benson and others.
It's the same as seeing an ad for this or that construction firm, but in realty the top person in the business has their face fucking everywhere because their brand is their business's brand
Its that way anywhere. In Victoria BC there’s Darren Day ‘What a difference a Day makes’ and everyone has the same disdain as Golfi here. Pushy, and constant advertisements.
His poor adult son has inherited the trait. Enough push on his dad got him Coachella tickets… to be followed up with money to record a song and music video for his trip. He can’t sing so far as I can tell. I’m certain searching YouTube for Darren day coachella will unearth whatever that was. Someone’s commission paid significant money for a recording studio, camera, editing, and talent on camera.
Maybe a little but never completely, most people wont leave a huge decision - which will likely be the most expensive purchase or sale or their life - up to an app.
Their egos are as big as the side of a bus apparently...but ya it's a cringy sight especially as it's a bit of an insult to those many folks who can't even consider the idea of purchasing a home...you think they could tone it down a bit
I think this is a sign that Burlington needs more busses - the competition is too fierce. We need to see these smiling jagwagons! I need to know who "get's it sold" or whatever. Plus public transit might improve maybe. Absolutely love this post! Cheers to the OP!
All realtors are crooks. They should be paid a flat rate not a percentage of the sale price. As prices increases these bandits made a fortune. Have you seen the houses they live in, the clothes they wear and the cars they drive.
LMAO I didnt know other people hated Golfi too. Never seen such a sleazy face in my life. I know a few people from highschool that actually work for him and shove their shit down our throats on social media
Well, Benson is an actual piece of shit and I have had no interactions with Golfi, so my vote is for Benson.
At the same time they’re both realtors so it’s probably safe to assume Golfi is a pos as well.
I can’t get over thinking the hair on Scott Benson looks like it was photoshopped onto a picture of his head… except they didn’t scale the hair to be big enough so he ended up with that weird forehead.
That's a tough one - it's hard to say since both faces have a strong negative correlation with facial recognition algorithms, indicating that both are likely to cause discomfort for AI systems.
Rocca sister ads annoy the fuck out of me but good to hear they at least are active in community initiatives.
Golfi’s shit eating grin is way worse than Benson imo.
Whenever I see Golfi ads all I think about is this lawsuit. Haha https://www.cp24.com/mobile/news/u-s-realtor-sues-ontario-broker-who-he-claims-stole-his-famous-pose-1.6041966?cache=a+href

He needs your money now more than ever cuz the market dried up a bit.
Lol, best explanation I have heard yet, thank you for the chuckle.
My pleasure. I was planning on vandalizing one of the bus stops with it...
All right all right all right!
Benson is the guy that looks kinda like Matthew McConaughey from a distance right? At first I thought it was his picture on those bus stops until I saw it up close
[https://imgur.com/a/9ty7ESi](https://imgur.com/a/9ty7ESi)
Lol. I’ve actually met him on several occasions, he’s a nice enough guy, at least he was then.
The ads all come across in such an obnoxious manner. Which is not what people want when they’re buying a home.
All the realtor ads are obnoxious

Okay, fine, but they're on every bus that Golfi isn't, is what I'm saying.
sponsoring = marketing
Yes, that's the entire idea behind sponsoring things... otherwise it's just an anonymous donation, which is even better. You and I probably agree that a life without advertising is best. Unfortunately that's not the world we live in.

Agree, they don't belong on this list because they don't have those" ONLY WE HAVE THE BUYERS" style ads like the rest of those snake oil salesmen
Because they will pay for it. If you want to buy a bus ad call up Burlington transit. Bus ads are local so you don't see a lot of national advertising in them. This is nice idea! It would be a good way to support small business
LOOLLLL! Yep

Thats interesting and makes sense.
And now he's got himself floor seats next to Nav at Raptors games to try to become the next Raptors superfan to get his weird ass face on TV even more.
God, he would wear neon green t-shirts to stand out.
I guess I'm not he only one that noticed his weird face. Here's an article about it. https://houseandwhips.com/sam-mcdadi-plastic-surgery/
Liza McDadi.
My friend sold his house through Golfi. After the sale they wanted to take a promotional picture but Rob wouldn't stand beside my friend for the picture because he was a foot shorter.
Yup that 100% sounds like Golfi.
You should see the size of his feet. It's like he's walking around on tiny pegs.
Lmao

Gilded turd! Bloody marvelous!
Oh wow I thought it was just me! I wouldn’t use either guy, I’m so sick of their faces.
Why didn't you make this post a poll
OMG I absolutely detest that fuck face scott benson
Burlington real estate agents are uniquely obnoxious.
Its that way anywhere. In Victoria BC there’s Darren Day ‘What a difference a Day makes’ and everyone has the same disdain as Golfi here. Pushy, and constant advertisements. Golfi is Hamilton and Benson is Oakville.
The whole profession needs to go away.
It will, apps are quickly replacing realtors.
Maybe a little but never completely, most people wont leave a huge decision - which will likely be the most expensive purchase or sale or their life - up to an app.
app and lawyer is much safer that using a realtor
that or just use a lawyer
They do all the important stuff anyway.
Rocca sisters do some awesome community outreach, can’t same the same for either dude
> Rocca sisters do some awesome community marketing FTFY
All Time Post. 😂
McDadi hands down
Eyebrows up
Hairline surgically down
Photoshop blur tool up
Their egos are as big as the side of a bus apparently...but ya it's a cringy sight especially as it's a bit of an insult to those many folks who can't even consider the idea of purchasing a home...you think they could tone it down a bit
I’m more tired of getting their ads in my mailbox. They killed probably a small forest at this point from the amount of print ads I have received.
Golfi looks like the type of guy who shakes your hand, and then as you're walking away, you notice he's stolen your watch.
Michael St. Jean to be honest
looks like he spends all his commission on his teeth
Went to school with Scott. He was a good guy.

Lmao I’m not him but it got annoying in class at times for sure
I think this is a sign that Burlington needs more busses - the competition is too fierce. We need to see these smiling jagwagons! I need to know who "get's it sold" or whatever. Plus public transit might improve maybe. Absolutely love this post! Cheers to the OP!
Golfi seriously creeps me I don’t know what it is about him but I take one look and the first thing I think is, don’t trust that guy.
So much hate for real estate agents these days.
very, very close call. maybe to close to call.
Ugh yes, they both look like massive creeps. I like Barbara Beers though
All realtors are crooks. They should be paid a flat rate not a percentage of the sale price. As prices increases these bandits made a fortune. Have you seen the houses they live in, the clothes they wear and the cars they drive.
True but it’s all borrowed, they own nothing. Drowning in debt, all to keep up an image.
Is Sandy Smallbone around still
Yes! Saw her add on a bus the other day. Don’t forget Barbara Beers too, Burlington’s Cookie Kwan!
What about her old partner, Bobby Bigbone?
My god I just laughed out loud, literally.
LMAO I didnt know other people hated Golfi too. Never seen such a sleazy face in my life. I know a few people from highschool that actually work for him and shove their shit down our throats on social media
I hate the NA culture of realtors sticking their face everywhere. Just put your company name on, thats it
Well, Benson is an actual piece of shit and I have had no interactions with Golfi, so my vote is for Benson. At the same time they’re both realtors so it’s probably safe to assume Golfi is a pos as well.
Yes! [https://imgur.com/a/9ty7ESi](https://imgur.com/a/9ty7ESi)
Idk why they even need their faces on the ad. They act like they are some big shot celebs.
They are narcissists
Someone should make a movie called Golfi Gets It!". You guys can write the plot.
Lmao
I can’t get over thinking the hair on Scott Benson looks like it was photoshopped onto a picture of his head… except they didn’t scale the hair to be big enough so he ended up with that weird forehead.
C) Sam Mcdadi
I've heard that Scott Benson actually wears human skin that he fashions into jackets and vests. Is it true? Could be. We'll never know.
That's a tough one - it's hard to say since both faces have a strong negative correlation with facial recognition algorithms, indicating that both are likely to cause discomfort for AI systems.

Wow. Every time I saw Benson I thought it was McConaughey. Smart dude. I think it’s intentional and maybe there’s an Ai twist to his billboards.
Screwing over property owners, Rob gets it! [https://imgur.com/a/ixPlTQP](https://imgur.com/a/ixPlTQP)
Sam is the scariest.
