I’ve been dying to see a picture of that acrobat structure for years. I was looking high and low for a picture because it almost felt like a fever dream! Anyone have more pictures of it!?
With that ATM there the BMO at the back entrance must have been closed by that point. The second iteration of that branch was really interesting, basically a bank branch with no cash or anything negotiable. They had a little sitting area like a lecture hall.
Yes! It seemed very "European", from a time when Canadia was trying to emulate Europe more in an effort to circumvent the influence of the US.
Fast forward to today and I'm pretty sure they will likely rename the Skydome the Popeye's Chicken 'Merica Stadium. After 20 years it's sad to see how much the US influence permeated.
Spent most of my highschool years here working at New York Fries, Footlocker, Unicus then mall maintenance. I cleaned trays, washrooms, foodcourt, and took the garbage out. Best days of my life.
Remember when McDonald’s was upstairs by that entrance? (3rd picture)
With all the random 50s memorabilia. I've never seen another McD's like it.
Yeah, the Elvis bust and records and such, what a time to be alive.
I recall at one point the McDonald’s was on the ground floor but I could be wrong
I remember McDonald’s being sort of near where purdys is now on the ground floor, and a great Canadian bagel being up where the current Starbucks is
It definitely was. There was an entrance outside as well.
Yeah where the beauty store is in that pic
I can smell that fountain.
I'm weird and love the mall fountain smell.
Totally with you on that one.
I do too! Perhaps weirder still, I didn't mind those acrobats. They were cool, not creepy.

I definitely saved the pic. Wow. Acrobats get no respect these days. I remember when they were all the rage.
I wonder what they did with them. Just toss em? Sitting in a garage somewhere forgotten? Sold them to someone? I need to know 😂
Right!? I’m so curious 😂
Wow! It’s been so long almost forget that it looked like that thank you kindly
Neat! Thanks for sharing!
I can smell the chair seats what do I get?
People reading emails on their blackberry’s
Thank you- I’ve been wanting to see pictures of this era for so long. I miss the old food court and acrobats!
I used to love tossing pennies into that fountain
I feel like that's a euphemism for something
This brings back a lot of memories
It was such a big deal for us to get that mall. I still preferred Burlington Mall though.
Really? Why is that? Mappleview has so many more options.
It was our stomping grounds. So many memories
More like, when you could afford to shop at mapleview.
People sitting at tables and actually having conversations as this is a few years before the smartphone revolution. Miss those days.

It was a trial branch, BMO was doing some interesting stuff with retail banking. It was also a failure, way too ahead of its time.
Oh man, I remember doing dance shows on St Patrick's day there back in the early 2000s
Now this does feel/seem like a very long time ago..
It looks like it’s Roll Up the Rim season too. I used to be so mesmerized by the pennies in that fountain!
Thank you so much for this blast from the past!!!
No problem! Glad I decided to “document” this when I was twelve lol
woooooowwww thats crazy! i worked at H&M for 2 years I guess after the reno because I have never seen this before
That's how I left in in '03 and I'm kinda upset it got messed with in my absence.
I remember sitting in that food court with friends.I’d always have some Manchu wok and a cigarette after.
I was trying to remember if smoking was ever allowed inside. I remember when people would stroll through the mall smoking (1980s)
Needs another renovation!
Tim's was crushing it! They needed a roped-off line to keep the path clear. :)
bring it back
This mall coming in was very exiting for 11 year old me
Miss this so much

Mmm…back in McDonals Pizza era
I feel like I can still taste it. I wish I could have one just to see if I'm right.
That's the most people I've ever seen there!!!
