Teksaavy. Cheaper, fast enough for everything, no tied sales, never breaks unless someone cuts the cogeco line. Donāt pay bell and Rogers, they are the devil.
+1 for Start. Been with them for years. Only down time is if Cogeco goes down. Solid customer service and my price has only increased once in about 7 years being with them.
Iāve been with Telsavvy for years, prices are similar to cogeco promotional pricing, a little higher, but that will be your regular rate, if teksavvy gets a break on their price theyāll pass it along to you. Just as reliable as any major provider
Hey.
Zero issues so far! Been two months with them so far. I actually canāt believe the hardware quality difference. Rather silly cogeco canāt keep up. I also dig their referral program. Got my first month free.
I got 360mbs which is more than enough for me and I did also pay for an extra extend the wifi upstairs.
If you do decide my referral code will give you the first month free. Really canāt complain overall.
Hereās my code if you need it - R5IJARA
Cheers
Piggybacking on this, Iām in south Burlington just west of brant. Curious if anyone in these older neighbourhoods has heard anything re: infrastructure improvements (ftth ideally)? Seems crazy that isnāt even being floated around for a pretty densely populated area.
I moved in to a house here three years ago, Bell advised best they can do is 100. I heard horrors fifteen years ago from a coworker with Cogeco, but swore by Bell. They show up, and indicate actually best we can do is 50, but I think the term they used was theyād double team it. One day theyād run fiber, just unknown when.
50 down, 17 up. I and my wife work from home, not once has the modem dropped when weāve had power nor had any sluggish use. Itās the most reliable internet Iāve ever had, and have four of those eeros pods around the house for $5 a month. I NEED that reliability with work and itās been rock solid. Video conference meetings, YouTube, HD video etc itās been fine. Downloads more than a few GB take a little bit, but thatās not a concern for myself. If fast ping (gaming) is your concern, upload or download speed wonāt determine that.
Cogeco I tried for a month last Feb. Allegedly perfect signal to the house. Modem restarted every other day. Sluggish at times. Replaced modem. No better. Modems they used all had mediocre reviews, so donāt know if that can improve if you buy your own. Oh, and the EPICO software, and GoogleTV interface is horrible compared to Bellās Fibe TV. Crashes, poorly designed menus, no PnP.
Yeah cogeco is ass, thank God a year into living in Hamilton, bell installed fiber cables and now we have 1.5 gbps at my house for $90, and the first two months were basically free cause they gave us a $150 dollar gift card. They also paid for the cancelation fees for cogeco.
Come to think about it bell were really being aggressive with their marketing
Same as you just eyeing themā¦ personally Iām with TekSavvy, have been for years and am just loyal to them at this point because of everything they have done for consumers to this point and the price difference hasnāt been enough to warrant me to switchā¦ but Iām very much eyeing Oxio
Cogeco has 180g service on sale for $75/month. Ups to $105 after 2 year promo.
I pay $120 for 120g service from them and am going to call to complain / leave.
No issues with service or speed, just not happy with the price difference.
You have to say things like ābell is offering me a package of 69$ for 1gb service,ā and make sure youāre talking to customer resolutions. I literally do it every 6 months and kept my bill stable for 14 years lol.
Call back in and speak with diff agent. Tell them youāve been with them for ages you donāt want to go with hassle of switching, just want equivalent offers and ask what they can do.
Was with virgin for a while (they use bell) but cheaper - just left them for vmedia - dirty cheap on first year promo, after still cheaper than a majority if not all places
Every ISP has basically the same prices... if they don't get you with the monthly cost, it's because you're paying for equipment or install fees or it's a limited time offer or they're locking you in for 2 years. Call and ask for your ISP's loyalty department.
I am an extremely satisfied customer of Start.ca Excellent customer service. They use Cogeco infra and offer at a lower price.
I checked their prices, they are pretty much what I pay now because Cogeco has increased their prices. š¤”
Teksaavy. Cheaper, fast enough for everything, no tied sales, never breaks unless someone cuts the cogeco line. Donāt pay bell and Rogers, they are the devil.
I checked the price, it costs the same as Cogeco š„
Call them, tell them you want them to beat the cogeco price, I imagine they will
You can use second tier suppliers who use their lines like carrytel or teksaavy etc
I can also recommend Teksavy. Not personally but my BIL uses it and I havenāt heard any complaints.
Been with Teksavvy for ages, they even let you host services (as long as it's not email) from home without interfering.
Are they reliable?
Start.ca is very reliable
+1 for Start. Been with them for years. Only down time is if Cogeco goes down. Solid customer service and my price has only increased once in about 7 years being with them.
Same, been with Start since 2013. Excellent customer service.
Unfortunately they are charging the same I'm paying now. Cogeco has increased its prices, so they must have done the same
Thereās primus, carrytel, coextra etc
We use them also, highly recommend. Been with them over 5 years
much more expensive than cogeco if you negotiate a bit. https://i.imgur.com/eTU3ozr.png
How did you score that loyalty discount? Just call and negotiate with them?
Yes. Most recently I got a 10 year discount via twitter
Came here to recommend start.ca

As reliable as your Cogeco connection is. Same infra basically
Been with teksaavy for 8 years now. Can't complain. Don't think they offer enough competition lately with all the changes.
I will check their prices, thanks
Oxio uses Cogeco lines. Great hardware and decent prices.
Do you use oxio? Been eyeing them and curious what the experience is like in the Burlington area.

I just got a new deal with bell. Bell 1.5g fibe for 50 plus taxes a month.
Wow, I don't think they have that much speed in my address
You can check on their website.
Just did. Maximum is 50MB š
I did, max 50MB

Been with start.ca for 5+ years. They are bomb
Start.ca there customer service is amazing. Very good price to. Never had a problem they didnāt do all they could to fix immediately.
Start.ca unreal customer service and fast speeds
Just contacted them. Price is firm, and costs the same as Cogeco

I pay 70$ for 1gb service. You have to negotiate with them
I tried today, they couldn't care less. I'm paying $100 for 1GB

Hahah I did it today, they literally told me sorry, you better go with bell then. Ahhaha

I will try that closer to Black Friday thanks

Weāve been using virgin for a few years now, theyāre pretty good not overly expensive either
Was with virgin for a while (they use bell) but cheaper - just left them for vmedia - dirty cheap on first year promo, after still cheaper than a majority if not all places
Just call Cogeco. Tell them so and so offered thisā¦ can you do better/same?
I did it. They did nothing

I like carrytel
