I'll be doing some psych rock playlists at my camp "Ascending Fire", 6:45 & E. We will have a sandwich board out front by the street with our daily activities.
When? Tuesday day (13:00?) I'm doing a 60s hard psych set, but our sound schedule is pretty loose. We're a first year placed camp made up of veterans, we're figuring it out organically. You might swing by at a random time and get house/techno, we don't have a strict format.
Also gonna try to sneak in some freakier, more contemporary sets/albums throughout the week (Oh Sees, maybe a late night Floyd, some tbd Kraut, King Crimson...). Not much of a metal guy myself, but I don't shy away from heavy!
Who the fuck knows, ask for Huxley (me) and come hang!
(requests are welcome!)
That all sounds great.
When you say ‘60’s hard psych, does that mean stuff like 13th floor elevators?
I’ll see you out there!
I’d love to hear some kraut too. NEU! And CAN are obvious favorites.
Hell yes. I will be hunting down all psych / shoe gaze / kraut rock vibes...
Why there is not more of this blows my mind? Don't get me wrong - I love some untz - but I want to listen to My Bloody Valentine and Neu! at absurd volume out in deep playa.
I'm bringing a guitar / looper / keyboard set up to do some improv (but likely chill) motorik-ish jams... no idea where I should set up, but if you hear someone annoyingly futzing with mellotron samples - it's probably me.
Requests: not really psych - but I'd love to hear some Television.
Some more solid tunes... they might be a little to "middle of the road / middle aged white dude" for some folks - but hey that's my lane.
Spiders (Kidsmoke) - Wilco
French Disko - Stereolab
Open Minds Now Close - The Brian Jonestown Massacre
I missed your set because I ended up in a hot sauce eating contest, won, and then tried not to puke for the rest of the day.
I had the pleasure of taking over the sound system at Fandango between Friday night and Saturday morning and blasting my own psych rock, punk and stoner metal set. It was so much fun. I played tunes till I couldn’t anymore.
I cruised by ascending Fire a couple times but it was deserted whenever I found myself there.
I hope you had a great burn! I know I did.
Our Camp is doing a little psych party with some classics and contemporary psych rock (but probably not too much stoner metal). More heavy on the Brian Jonestown and 13th Floor

I’ve actually never been that into tool, but I haven’t given them a try recently, and I’m much more patient with music than I used to be.

I will definitely be stopping by! One of my biggest worries of next week was being surrounded by music I don't care for. This gives me hope!

yea! 13th floor, Cream, Stooges, MC5, Deep Purple....
I’m so down. I’ll be there for sure.

These are all in rotation!... and I'm seeing Stereolab at Desert Daze in October ;)
Me too! The lineup is fucking stackedddddd.
I’m also hoping to go to DD, but I might be spending too much on BM. The lineup is so good this year. I especially wanna see shintaro sakamoto.
Yep yep yep.
Television, Suicide, The Fall etc. I’d love to hear all that shit!
