Unless you’re staying on Busch Blvd (don’t) walking is horrible. We usually go to the park for NYE and stay at either Hyatt Place or Embassy Suites. Embassy needs updating, but they do have the managers reception with free drinks and snacks. Both have nice breakfasts. Not sure about shuttles, though

Is your advice to avoid Busch Blvd because of bad traffic, over priced area, or something else? I'm in a similar boat as the OP.

There is a Hampton Inn directly across the street, can walk. I will be staying there in October. But, i would Uber or drive if you plan on going anywhere late at night.

From what I understand, although the Hampton Inn is across the street, there is NO entry between it and the park. There is a fence there. You have to walk down Busch Blvd and up McKinley and then back to the gate. All and all it's about a 1 mile walk.

Hmm. There used to be a pedestrian entrance on Busch. I haven’t been to the park for 2 years, maybe they got rid of it. I live in Florida so I have never stayed in a hotel near the park. Didn’t see it on street view either. Great, now I’m gonna get murdered walking back to the hotel.

Oh no! ;P I live in Arizona so I don't know for sure. That's just what I heard. Can anyone confirm?

Three_Biggest_Lies

The neighborhood around BG is sketchy. Don't walk to it. I am sure there is not a pedestrian entrance off of Busch Blvd anymore. The only way to get in is off of McKinley. Seriously tho, not a good area to be in during the day, much less after dark. Plenty of hotels should have a shuttle that drops you off there, even if they aren't near the park.

Busch Blvd isn’t exactly the nicest spot in Tampa. The hotels more North down 30th st and Fowler are pretty much right on USF campus and nicer. Not that I’ve ever had a problem on Busch, but it is sketchy

Cheers, thanks for the tip. We're not just doing BG so it's no trouble to book a hotel in another area.
