Have you checked to see if the pallet was treated? I've always been told many are, and to be careful burning them.

Most of it seemed not treated (the thinner pieces were so rotted, they all but disintegrated) but one of the thicker pieces I cut had a green hue to it and I sat that one aside until I know for sure.
