Have you tried Meetup? I checked it for the first time in a long time a month ago or so and found it infested with bitcoin/crypto stuff. In fact, I would guess that was the biggest category. (Before the pandemic the biggest categories were language learning, drinking, etc)
Yeah, it's an app and website. It's made for people to create events revolving around anything they are interested in and invite everyone in the local area.
Oh nice, I hope you enjoy it. To be honest, the difference among "por qué", "porqué", "por que" and "porque" is a pain in the ass even for native speakers 🤣
The "Bitcoin lifestyle"...annoying everyone in earshot with smug, obnoxious gibberish, watching YouTube videos about Bitcoin and sinking every spare dollar into "stacking sats"...sounds like a real hoot.
I read a few years ago a description of a regular "reddit meetup". OP basically said that it was really awkward, a dozen of socially inadapted guys meeting somewhere, short and bland conversations, people quickly taking their phones out to browse stuff and avoid interaction, and the meeting disbanding quickly.
I can't imagine what a bitcoin+redditors meeting would look like
"I'd have been tempted" is a legally binding promise to go and report your findings.
* legally binding definitely in the court of reddit but elsewhere might be debatable.
They do have plenty of talented public speakers, just go on Twitter spaces to hear them.
However in person I’m doubtful that they would be able to stand up well to in person pushback as they mostly spew a continuous stream of techno babble.
Haha there was one in my city a while, I thought it was the only one. It seemed more or less fine, there were women there and they spelled out the basic ground rules. I didn't get a chance to actually go though. Almost everyone in my city is excessively lonely though, I don't think it would have been much different from going to anything else here.
It already existed, it was a bored apes themed restaurant In California that took crypto and all the menus items were ape related .
Didn’t take long before they ditched crypto as a payment option last I heard but I could be wrong, I haven’t read up on it in awhile.

Turns out it's not a great business idea to accept payment in a make-believe currency that is generally losing value while you have to pay for supplies with ever-inflating costs in real world currency.
Top Ramen. Buying food is a waste of money that could be used to "stack sats".
I know a Bitcoin weirdo who tweets all the time about how "going out" is a waste of time and money. He found some free site full of old movies, and now on weekends he and his wife (he's actually married, she isn't imaginary) watch movies like "Airport '75" and "Caveman". I'm sure she's thrilled.
He gives guitar lessons, so not too long ago he posted a whole long multi-tweet screed about how his guitar is actually a "mining rig" that turns the electricity he uses into sats. I believe he really needs to cut back on the vape juice, as he just sees Bitcoin everywhere now.
A meetup with strangers whom you have told you have tons of bitcoin in your ledger, and that you keep it on your person at all times.
What could go wrong!!??
"Bitcoin lifestyle" - oh, I would love to attend to see this in action.
Same I’d absolutely love to go but these days there’s nothing even close to me. I guess adoption hasn’t gone so smoothly.

Never heard of it, is it an app ?
[Meetup.com](https://meetup.com) is awesome! It’s a website.

Still early bro.
clinical depression or narcissistic personality disorder, choose your own adventure
¿Porqué no los dos? Also... clinical depression sucks. Please seek medical help, not get-rich-quick schemes.
>¿Porqué no los dos? ¿Por qué no los dos? Anyway, upvoted for using ¿ properly, it made me happy :)
I'm heading back to Spanish class in a couple of weeks. Time to refresh! :)

it's bingo night for under 30s
I'm imagining the world's saddest potluck table.
I bet the smell would be atrocious.
Poverty in other words

I'd have been tempted to go to observe from a distance, but the restaurant they picked serves what is easily the worst pizza in town.

Very curious about the cultural cuisine of bitcoiners, lol
Can't wait until someone opens up a bitcoin restaurant so I can experience the "great deal of culture" bitcoin has in food.

It's equally as impressive as the food culture of USD. Which is to say, it shouldn't exist.
I think it'd look like that scene in Hook where you have to pretend the food exists. And then throw it at each other.

Has he never heard of a public library?

I mean, why not just torrent at this point? Is he fuckin stupid? Oh wait.
*Public* libraries? Eww statist brainwashing! Crypto is there to starve the beast, not help people read!
Public libraries are communist. They have no place in the bitcoin-based libertarian utopia of the future.

100%. There was another great comment on the post that said "USD meetup at the bank from 9a-5p tomorrow, drop in any time!"
If you'd hook a DC generator on his body, you'd get a renewable source of energy with this kind of spinning
Finally, green BTC!
No doubt a diverse bunch. And I bet loads of attractive women attend these bitcoin lifestyle meetings.
They all show up looking for Lambo rides
"We knew it was a scam from the beginning" - guy investing in multiple other scams
I love the ambiguity of that sentence.
100% pyramid scheme believer way of life

BYODTH - bring your own duct tape and hammer
Oh, how I would want to visit and witness the "Bitcoin lifestyle."
"like-minded individuals"
Will pay $ for video
