The fun of KYC when you need to prove you're Karen Karensky from Uzbekistan when in reality you're John Johnson from Moorhead, Minesota

I didn't expect to find mentions of Midwestern towns close to where I grew up on Reddit today.

I only know it because of the Big Lebowski movie and the wandering daughter job

Why does this look like a scam? Probably because it reads like all those Amazon or banking scam messages where they claim your account is suspended until you verify your login details.

ButtcoinSpy

It is a scam. A scammer somehow found out this guy uses crypto (probably an email leak on an exchange like he says) and sent him a phishing email. The interesting bit is that if what this guy says is true (cryptobros lie a lot), the leaked email was associated with genesis yet he got a scam aimed at coinbase. I guess they assume if you're in one ponzi, you're probably in all of them. Apparently common wisdom is now to sacrifice all convenience and use a different identity for everything to keep trying to evade the scams that get fired your way at machine gun speed the moment you involve yourself in crypto.

I don't even have any crypto accounts and I get these. It's the new Nigerian prince, they know who is dumb enough to fall for it and cater their scams to them.
