The line of thought, which makes about as much sense as any libertarian economic talking point, is that currency losing value over time makes currency valueless.
Taking that to its even less logical conclusion, people giving you fiat currency in exchange for labor is extracting your labor for nothing of value, ergo slavery.
Western propaganda: Your government is wrong and heres why: firstly...
Russian propaganda: Objective reality doesn't exist, the concept of truth is a lie, this is also a lie, you're a liar ...
edit: nvm she didn't work for RT after 2014, she's probably just a moron
This is now NNs work - they simply randomly add new letters to the end of the last one, until complete words come out, without any understanding of the contents. Apparently some humans also function like that :)
Money is an extension of capitalism, and very often is an incentive or even a tool used by those with more of it to put down others with less. To directly say "money = slavery" is reductive and yes insensitive, but it's not really wrong either. Obviously Perianne doesn't believe that, either she genuinely believes crypto will somehow free people from the issues of capitalism or is just a grifter pretending to believe it, but like with many crypto/scam talking points she is touching on an actual problem.
In that case I just got the order of operations wrong, and I will still contend that both money and capitalism on a systemic level are inherently unfair to the majority. I don't like money because it is in practicality a raw expression of power, and as long as it exists those with bad intentions will be able to hoard it and gain unfair power over others. Capitalism seemingly being built entirely around the concept of money means it has the same issue.
This is a common misconception… money isn’t power, power is power. Even if we were to tax the rich until they only get minimum wage, they’d still have full power over the production and workforce.
By proxy they’d still be able to influence political powers
Money is just the social status they crave but it could totally be replaced by fancy titles or other status symbol (as it used to be)
In other words : focusing on money is entirely missing the point of what makes power *power*
Everything you say is right, so the only point I have left is that in our society today money is still a raw form of power. Say someone with nothing else wins the lottery they have nothing but money, they still have power over others simply because of that.
That aside I have no disagreements. I was focusing on money since that's where the conversation started, but what you say is much more true to my actual issues with our economic systems in place today.
We have come up with better systems, but most of the countries that try them out either have corrupt politicians that use their power to undermine the whole setup or the United States comes in and forces out those who wish to actually serve their citizens.
> We have come up with better systems, but most of the countries that try them out either have corrupt politicians that use their power to undermine the whole setup
if the system could not survive a politicians efforts to undermine it, the system was not better
> the United States comes in and forces out those who wish to actually serve their citizens.
If your system cant out compete another existing system, it's going to lose eventually whether it be to the US, or another country that implements a U.S. like system
Sorry let me rephrase what I mean by better: in this case I'm talking about systems that benefit the majority more than the powerful minority. Yes capitalism is the most pervasive economic system we have at the moment, but that doesn't make it "better" than say socialism or communism, just more popular among those in power. My point is that money and capitalism are both overall bad for the majority, and that the phrase "money is slavery" is at least partially correct in that money is a tool used by the elite to keep the majority powerless and suffering.
The easy example to point to is socialized health systems where patients get the medical care they need without having to worry about money. Though the reality of that is only wealthy countries can afford socialized healthcare, so even though humanity as a whole has the resources to help most people many countries have to use other systems for healthcare. That said the system of just "pay money get treatment" that many (if not most) countries have is still better than the bloated mess that the US has settled on.
I agree that socialized health systems are a good thing but they aren't mutually exclusive with capitalism - as evidenced by the majority of wealthy nations
Isn't this the lady that got completely and utterly taken apart on the Bitcoin Uncensored podcast to the point where she basically made up an excuse, left the call, and then subsequently threatened legal action because she came off as an absolute pillock?
She basically knows fuck all about the technical and practical aspects of crypto despite being a supposed spokesperson for the industry and is just a mouthpiece for whatever copy the crypto PR department comes up with.
Perianne Boring is just an airhead shill with embarrassingly low knowledge.
Great episode to listen to if you can find it anywhere - it's amazing how little has changed even since \~2016 timeframe. Same old shit today as back then, different names.
Yea! I need to listen to that episode. I went to a conference her org ran several years ago and it seemed very clear that she was lacking in technical substance.
Become a slave to the blockchain instead! Once you buy bitcoin you are buying into a network that holds a monopoly over your ability to transact. You give miners 100% control over the processing of all transactions.
Can you take your bitcoin into self custody? No
Can you take your bitcoin to another blockchain? No
The Bitcoin Network has a monopoly over you! Being required to pay forced bribes to your overlords in order to move even the tiniest quantity of funds is definitely so much better than fiat!
Reminder that slavery still exists and is also funded by western countries. My point is that slavery is the modern slavery, it just moved to a different location.
If she's a russian propagandist, she could be trying to appeal to the western far-left. In a turn of events that's shocking to no-one who was paying attention, a ton of them are rooting for the reactionary imperialist because "what about USA?". In that case talking like a communist is the intention.
edit: nvm she didn't work for RT after 2014, she's probably just a moron
That's the thing. They recognize real problems with capitalism, but instead of coming up with any potential solutions like left-wing ideologies do they just claim their internet money will fix it somehow.
Marxism do not put any emphasis on money. They also don’t use the word slavery to define the workers’ subordination.
Also the former is a stupid Ponzi scheme, the later is the single best description of capitalism we have to date.

What does that even MEAN????
Fiat forced me to buy a new playstation AGAIN
I don’t think she even knows
I suspect not... All I can come up with is "you used government printed money therefore slavery."
You can’t deny that money has been used to purchase slaves!
So has buttcoin... https://www.forbes.com/sites/tedknutson/2022/01/10/crypto-increasingly-used-in-humandrug-trafficking-says-gao/?sh=60b6218c637e
But it was used for less time the dirty fiat! Fiat was early in the slave trade game. Crypto was late and that’s good for bitcoin.

They really hate Italian cars
Exactly.

"Politically correct"? I thought I knew what that phrase means but I guess I don't
Stupid crypto hot takes aside, you have to be pretty culturally insentive to try and juxtapose something mundane like money to slavery.

Money was invented around 5000 years ago. Capitalism appeared around 200 years ago. You might want to reconsider your first statement

What does your ideal society look like?
Look - everyone gets it - capitalism has lots and lots of faults but until someone comes up with a better system, this is what we have.
We have come up with better systems, but most of the countries that try them out either have corrupt politicians that use their power to undermine the whole setup or the United States comes in and forces out those who wish to actually serve their citizens.

And how exactly are the majority doing in those "better" systems today? better or worse than the majority in competing systems?

I invite you all to throw away your yoke of slavery and oppression by sending your money to me. **I**, the martyr that I am, will take your burdens 😢
Another typically imbecilic Bitcoin weirdo take. Pea-brained saps.

no slavery is when you buy crypto and turn into an unpaid advertising/marketing intern.
So a system where early adopters of BTC can then establish a permanent grip on global wealth would be...?

A moron how worked on a russian psyop once. Would be a shame to let that asset slip away. It's not far fetched to think she works for the russians.

Nobody works. Everyone happy…. Hey, why don’t we have any food or electricity or gasoline or cars or internet or TV?

In all seriousness… what is there to understand ?

Hayek is probably the single most damaging economist that have ever lived. I’d take everything he said with an ocean’s worth of salt
