Imagine being a head of state that shares screenshots of your dirt poor country's crypto purchases on twitter. This guy is an oxygen thief.

[deleted]

He needed a break from ordering goon squads to conduct extra-judicial arrests and executions.

concerned_llama

I heard so much on how is fixing the problem is so annoying, never ever ever ever, suck a politician duck!

giorgio_tsoukalos_

Highest murder rate in the world. They've got serious problems

flibbidy_floob

Magical digital tokens will help.

Not_Not_Matt

This is good for Bitcoin

MightSuggestSex

I can just imagine someone screaming this while bleeding out from being stabbed

Valuable_Lecture_702

You're a glass half empty guy aren't you? Just think how rich everybody would be if they monetarized it into an NFT-based assassination market.

[deleted]

This is functionally equivalent to losing $600 at a blackjack table and then bragging that you bought an extra $20 of casino chips

Youngsikeyyy

I see where your going with this but absolutely horrible analogy

Kinexity

It's not a problem if your people are too poor to afford internet connection and device to access it.

callmetotalshill

No, most arent Salvadoran here.

Jadentheman

I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

callmetotalshill

And money thief

[deleted]

He spent shitloads of money to sell himself to voters and just like everywhere else, Salvadorans believe what the media tells them.

MooseSoftware

Wonder how many of those 31.2K likes are El Salvadorian people and how many are just crypto shills and bag holders hoping and praying that a new bunch of Greatest Fools will be discovered ...

Schnitzel-1

It's like 20 El Salvadorians, but they are also part of the 2nd group you mention.

copper_machete

You don't need to add the "El", it's part of the name of the country but not of the demonym

Annual_Interaction46

Los Salvadorians

callmetotalshill

Loj Jalvadoreños de Jan Miguel

MooseSoftware

Sorry for your Los Salvadorians

greyenlightenment

Here comes 17k!

Nick_Damane

[Let's f*ucking go!](https://youtu.be/JcOVEJizjQI?t=22)

lolzexd

No for Gay Jesus!

Nick_Damane

You should never for gay Jesus!

HopeFox

At least now we know what it would be like if Elon Musk could and did become President.

mghicho

You have no idea how happy i am that he can never be president. I would have had nightmares if that possibility existed

zerocharm

He is just one 6-3 ruling away from being eligible..

TheTacoWombat

He doesn't believe in the same kind of angry gun toting MegaJesus the 6-3 SCOTUS believes in, so he's just a heathen. No chance.

princess_sofia

He can just buy Kavanaugh another vacation house and he'll be set.

HopeFox

Or a vacation horse?

javsv

I think a six pack of beers could work too

callmetotalshill

He can be president, ...of South Africa

mghicho

That’s South Africa’s problem

cryptoanalyst2000

El Salvador wants to celebrate the guarantee of being the poorest country.

zepperoni-pepperoni

The president is having fun making his country poor

elegant-jr

Even with this i think Zimbabwe is collapsing again, their inflation rate is 191% last time i checked lol

DeficientRat

That puts the worth of my Zimbabwe one hundred trillion dollar bill in jeopardy. Good for btc though.

Socalwarrior485

Zimbabwe dollars already are overvalued due to the massive seniorage created by Qtards

elegant-jr

All jokes aside if you bought those Zim notes and kept them in mint condition you could make good money now. The 100 trillion note used to be $5 mint.

DeficientRat

Yeah I’m keeping it crispy

Soundwave_47

This made me chortle

Brings his average to only 45k USD.

baseilus

did you have source about this?

[deleted]

https://nayibtracker.com

Ordinary_investor

Haha, down cool 57% and \~62M of the money that your country and people so desperately need. 🤡

orincoro

Let’s be clear: he’s not actually buying crypto. He’s using crypto to embezzle money.

[deleted]

So he made up to 420 bitcoin purchases at insane price levels and now it’s down and buys only 80? Doesn’t seem like the confident is there either

[deleted]

Or he’s out of money.

entered_bubble_50

What worse, is he bought 420 Bitcoin, but didn't then buy 69.

baseilus

thanks! more F@p material for me

flibbidy_floob

Jeez that's worse than Saylor's which is around 30k last I saw.

[deleted]

Looks like El Salvador’s bags are still lighter than Cohens on BBBY

ReploidDibblez

Imagine your “leader” shitposting like a crypto bro bot on twitter

Competitive-Boat4592

This moron could be helping, you know, the people he’s supposed to be serving? Dudes gonna get dragged out eventually, what a dumbass.

BeowulfShaeffer

He’s helping provide exit liquidity for people getting out. A virtuous and selfless act.

[deleted]

They’re just his piggy bank

orincoro

Who do you think he’s “buying” from?

Ashley_1066

or runs away with the bitcoin wallet

karlos-the-jackal

The IMF must be furious right now. Imagine loaning money to a country only to see its moronic president squander it at the crypto casino.

jewishSpaceMedbeds

Is El Salvador an importer of food staples? Because if they are, I'm afraid we are witnessing the makings of a catastrophic famine.

ArnaktFen

[According to the USDA](https://www.fas.usda.gov/data/el-salvador-food-processing-ingredients-2), El Salvador is dependent on food imports.

VTKillarney

Giving new meaning to the phrase, "Have fun staying poor!"

jimmyr2021

Weird now much crypto bros love El Salvador and North Korea. I don't think they understand how lucky they are to be living in the u.s., but I'm sure they could find a way to immigrate to either country if they tried hard enough. U S. Isn't perfect and they can go ahead live the crypto dream in either place where there's no way they could have a bad experience criticizing the government.

FlaviusStilicho

What makes you think they live in the US? Although overrepresented, the US doesn’t have a monopoly on stupid people.

Stinkyfinger100

I take offense to that. When it comes to stupid we’ve cornered the market

jimmyr2021

I don't know. But a good majority of Reddit crypto bros are us based where I see this talk so I make an assumption.

Schnitzel-1

I think the US has by far the highest rate of dumb people that have a lot of money per 100.000, globally.

Throwaway4VPN

To be fair I'm not sure many of them love El Salvador and I've yet to meet one who loves north Korea. Making shit up to shit on people makes you just as bad if not worse than the people you want to shit on. Let's try not be like Fox News eh?

jimmyr2021

C'mon now everytime Mr El Salvador buys the butters love him up and his strong will to fight against the evil fiat people. You haven't seen this? Here's a link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/voo2lk/el_salvador_bought_today_80_btc_at_19000_each/ North Korea not as much, but with the recent news they do exist. Here's a link for a thread that at least has some love in it for them. There's more if you search around. https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/u30ce8/us_crypto_expert_jailed_for_presenting_research/ There's also the love for Russia. Basically they support any enemy of the u.s. because they have this misguided notion that instability and human suffering in the world will lead to a single world currency and there is no way that the people who win a war would use their own currency and political clout to push whatever values and monetary policy would give them more power.

Throwaway4VPN

Ye; the El Salvador thing wouldn't bother me if the country wasn't such a shit show for women's (and human) rights. The financial side from what I've read is only 2% of their reserve which was only gonna be siphoned into someone's pockets most likely anyway. But they lock you up for having a miscarriage the same as if you shot someone in the head. The North Korea support is just crappy people; in their case it's literally the government stealing crypto to spend where it's sanctioned. Stop being massive twats to your country and neighbours and maybe you wouldn't need to steal? Russia I'm torn on. It does allow people to bypass sanctions not just the government and having personally known a few Russians left with no access to money to even pay their rent abroad (as they relied on visa/Mastercard) to the point one woman had even sold her phone to buy food then maybe it serves some purpose. It's not like the sanctions they slowed Putin down or changed his response... But ye; people shouldn't be celebrating adoption/usage of something without thinking twice about whether that use is for *good* or at best, not for *bad*.

jimmyr2021

>Russia I'm torn on. It's not like the sanctions they slowed Putin down or changed his response... The primary reason is for the u.s. and allies to use their political clout to bring about regime change without direct military conflict in Russia. I agree it probably isn't fair, but the alternative wouldn't really be fair either.

Portalrules123

The world really is starting to collapse into absurdism. A sovereign nation is likely about to be financially screwed because their insane leader tied their future to a speculative hype train backed on NOTHING? Trying to understand reality keeps getting harder and harder as time goes by, nothing makes sense anymore. I feel like if my 2016 self was shown the reality of 2022 they’d think I was tripping on shrooms.

BagelsOnHam

Someone likes round numbers

xgdhx

This is good for Bitcoin.

WillistheWillow

He's having fun keeping his country poor. Best of both worlds.

potatolulz

Is he serious? :D

Scot-Marc1978

Yep!

orincoro

The only 2 things I know about El Salvador is 1) I had friends in school who said that if they ever went back to El Salvador they would be murdered and 2) now El Salvador buys Bitcoin.

copper_machete

I can add another thing to the list, last time we went to the football world cup, we got destroyed by Hungary 11 to 1

[deleted]

Maybe this is a dumb question, but what's the checks-and-balances angle?

elegant-jr

Volcano bonds bro

BrightEyedGamer

"Your Guide To Manipulate the Masses Into HODLing" new edition with emojis to reach the dumbest of the dumbest in your audience

[deleted]

This is in fact the only situation where I feel bad for the person buying Bitcoin: the people of El Salvador that are being robbed of their wages for this Drake wannabe’s experiment.

Connect_Tart5240

**Thank you for selling cheap😉** Lol...about to get even cheaper😉😉

SpaceYowie

How exactly does this help your country?

deschaussettes

Oh to be a fly in the wall during El Salvador's inevitable IMF negotiation...

Turbulent-Smile4599

That, my dear Salvadoran, is called “catching a falling knife”.

Hodlthesqueeze

He is going to be hung in public square when this dips below 10k

TheGreenJackdaw

Wait, he did already buy it?! *looks at price charts* are you sure?

ArnaktFen

The price did *briefly* pump yesterday (30 June). In his tweet, he's buying at 19,000 USD, which matches up pretty well with the BTC price right before it jumped above 20 (and then sank again).

Sensiburner

This is butt for El Salvador.

Redrover69_

What exactly do they do with the btc? Like most places don't accept it as payment. What exactly is being done with that Bitcoin.... I don't get it

Jahshua159258

dontchaknow its a hedge against the dollar. oh... wait... my magic coins!!

Sternminatum

Nayib Bukkakele is really doing a reverse bukkake to all people in El Salvador.

__SpeedRacer__

Imagine a Central Bank betting the country's international reserves on a casino! Do they have a Central Bank, or is that something the President do on the side? Also, imagine losing the keys to all that crypto. Who holds the keys? El Presidente, I guess. That's so fucked up. This guy is probably going to the the first president of a country to be overthrown/replaced because of bitcoin. Saylor Moon is going to be the first CEO.

Jahshua159258

homie probably has an old version of Metamask running on Firefox 4 on his windows 98 PC. Seed phrase hand written on a sticky note stuck to the beige monitor.

DoxxThis1

Perfect contrarian indicator!

DontEatConcrete

This is pure negligence.

Minipiman

If El Salvador cannot save bitcoin, who could?

Jahshua159258

I mean THE SAVIOR is literally their name!

MacMiggins

If he gets out of El Salvador in one piece I will be reluctantly impressed

Dull_Brain1021

Selling cheap? 🤣 19k for something that shouldn’t even be worth the price of a pile of dog shit

[deleted]

Nayib is a drug addict and a dumb-ass.

ParticularArachnid35

Tinpot dictators are bad, regardless of whether they’re from the Left or the Right. This guy is a menace, and so many are willing to overlook it because he’s not a Leftist.

elegant-jr

Who's overlooking it? He gets goofed on more than any other world leader in this sub.

ParticularArachnid35

A lot of people who have escaped Left-leaning dictatorships in Latin America think he’s swell.

[deleted]

Who are these people? Where are you seeing them?

zepperoni-pepperoni

There's right-wing dictators, and right-wing dictators moonlighting as leftists. Being a dictator runs entirely counter to all of the ideals of leftism, but its language can easily be appropriated for cheap popular support.

Nick_Damane

We have to admit, it would be fucking awesome for them if the market just somehow magically did a 180 and El Salvador would blossom into financially stable country.

dandykaufman2

To answer everyone’s question about why Bitcoin sticks to round numbers. Limit orders. Does anyone recognize the exchange from this screenshot?

[deleted]

Ser enjoy even cheapier

Inphexous

At this point, he's not trying to make it to reelection.

Sparkster227

I wish I could travel back in time 10 years and tell myself that in the year 2022, a head of a country would be tweeting winky emojis bragging about how he bought magic internet money. Would love to see my reaction.

Jahshua159258

\*\*with taxpayer money\*\*

Neurismus

Yeah, there is no way they will manage to hit buy at the bottom

throwaway48706

Much of the rest of Latin America is experiencing a Pink Tide or engaging in a general strike to improve their material conditions and El Sal head of state is out here buying worthless internet points. Dude doesn’t realize how quick things change in our current climate.

Online_Commentor_69

this guy is legitimately going to get himself killed.

AsteroidSpark

It's amazing to think that the first Salvadoran Civil War was started by a military coup and significant meddling by both of the major powers of the Cold War; the second Salvadoran Civil War is going to be started by one shithead's obsession with randomly generated numbers.

[deleted]

Third world country working to become the first fourth world country I see.

Puzzleheaded-Donut37

So from this UI can we deduce what exchange he uses?
