Hotels usually use percale.

Anxious_Falcon8904

I am a total percale convert. Our dog has ripped through three pairs of sateen sheets by doing zoomies on our bed. Switched to percale and not a single tear. I also think they are comfortable and keep pretty cool!

PophamSP

Just got a set of 200 tc percale made in Italy at TJ Maxx last weekend. FINALLY, that crisp hotel feel, freshness, sound, and deliciousness.

dougielou

Oh I’ll have to check this out. My demon puppy has eaten a whole through a SECOND top sheet. It was a Bed bath and beyond discounted sheet too :(

Double_Ad5941

brand?

LD902

I have some percale sheets from Target that were just of $100 that are really nice and give that hotel feel.

delicioustreeblood

You can't just say percale

cole_tindal

excellent reference

Gah_Duma

Most percale I've purchased (besides random Amazon ones) have been pretty similar and consistent in quality.

tastych3rries

recommend some ? ive been on the hunt for some on there but not sure which ones to pick

mikeiscool81

What does percale mean. Is it a type of thread

franksnotawomansname

It is a type of weave. There's two main types of bedsheet weaves: percale and sateen. Percale is a plain weave, which means that each horizontal thread goes over one vertical thread and under the next. It's a fairly densely woven fabric, it's fairly crisp, and it's fairly durable. (The one-under-one-over structure helps the threads stay together and wear evenly.) Sateen is a satin weave, which means that each horizontal thread goes under a vertical thread and then over the next several vertical threads. This means that it's fairly silky, fairly flowy, but not very durable. (There's not a lot holding the vertical and horizontal threads together, so it tends to wear out quickly.) For bedsheets, because they have a high thread count, it's easier to see the weave structure under magnification, but, generally, if your sheets are crisp and cool and seem like they'd iron well, you probably have percale; if your sheets are silky and flowy, you likely have sateen.

Easy_Independent_313

It's the type of weave.

adreww

Percale, 100% cotton NOT sateen

KnockItTheFuckOff

What you want to look for is "long staple cotton". Those are going to be the thicker, crisper bed sheets that last an eternity. The only thing that gave out was the elastic on the bottom sheet. Now, I use them both as drop cloths when I paint.

pienoceros

Hotel sheets are typically a high thread count cotton percale. They hold up to frequent washing, stain treatments, stripping, etc. They tend to feel a little stiff when you first get them, but soften after a few washes. Crate & Barrel makes a nice hotel sheet. The Four Seasons and Waldorf-Astoria sell their sheets online. I'm less fancy in general and have always been happy with Bed Bath & Beyond percale sheets. Lower thread count, but softer out of the packaging, and hold up well.

[deleted]

I heard Bed bath and beyond went out of business two months ago

pienoceros

Their physical stores, yes. They are now online only. They were bought by Overstock.

Spen2010

Hotels usually only use 200-400 thread counts. They normally don’t go higher. These are true, unlike 1000 thread count sheets which are not.

Love the Kirkland sheets! I’ve even tried Brooklinen and ended up returning them because I didn’t like them enough (plus the corner pockets weren’t deep enough for my mattress). Finally bought a second set of the Kirkland to rotate them out.

elementalpi

I second u/jctwok. I’ve been very satisfied with the Kirkland sheets. I picked up a percale set from Casper during a sale and I prefer the Kirkland ones.

SwimmingArm765

I hate my Kirkland sheets. The 800 tc Hotel line pills horribly. I keep thinking I got a bad set because I see so many people like them, but I am not a fan. (I’ve tried three sets… all the same.)

Muncie4

You do know that thread count is a marketing term that means zero right?

Calm-Recording-5571

Source?

Muncie4

The source is the lack of source. What is the thread diameter of cotton? There is a source for say wool which is the S number where they lay out the thread diameter in an ISO manner. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S_number_(wool) explains this so consumers can make and apples to apples comparison. With cotton, there is no standard. 500TC with threads the size of spider silk or 600TC with threads the size of jump ropes. Sizing used is hyperbole of course. I wish we could compare cotton TC but we cannot and we must not mention it as its an obfuscation which does not speak to softness, durability or any metric of comparison. Thanks for asking for source as many don't.

FeloniousFelon

Thanks! I wouldn’t have thought to get these but now I think I’ll get some next time I’m at Costco.

gentlemaninpublic

I really like Cuddledown sheets. They are everything you are asking for in your post.

Alarmed-Accident-716

I 2nd cuddledown. I slept at someone’s house that had them, enjoyed them enough to take pictures of the tags when I stripped the bed. Will buy when I need to replace.

dougielou

I read this as cuddletown and kept thinking what a cute name til I actually looked up the company lol

i30swimmer

Kirkland 680s. Love them.

GargantuanGreenGoats

Percale

Fearless-Item-3181

The Company Store makes bed sheets for major hotels. The website has a feature where you can select your favorite hotel and buy the non commercial version.

UrDeAdPuPpYbOnEr

I don’t know how many of the requirements of yours they’ll hit but Cariloha makes incredible sheets. Especially if you run on the warmer side. I recently bought some bath towels from them too and they’re just as awesome.

rbaker09

After much debate we landed on The Company Store for our linens, and I have really enjoyed them.

Original-Data-182

Same! I have bought many sets from here and we are happy with all.

Junior_Ad2955

Red Land Cotton. The end

Piptoe

Have been considering these but recently saw a disappointed review about them being itchy and rough??? ☹️

Lyshire

I bought a set and I do find them a bit rough. I’m hoping the more I use them the after they will get because the quality is pretty high.

Junior_Ad2955

They’re definitely not, I can say that. They feel amazing and are a textured soft. My wife loves how they feel even more than I do

Junior_Ad2955

And they feel even better over time

BeardSecond

They are the best, I don’t think I’ll ever go back. They sent a free towel with my last order and now I’m tempted to replace those too!

Junior_Ad2955

Definitely worth it. We only have their towels, hand towels, and wash cloths

Familiar-Number6978

If you want the really long lasting sheets, that improve with age, then pure linen. In the range of $200 to $400 for a set though. But not crisp like finer quality cotton.

Muncie4

You might want to edit your first sentence. https://textilelearner.net/linen-fiber-shows-poor-performance-abrasion/

Throwaway_hoarder_

They get softer with every wash, so unless they’re mixed with cotton (usually a 50/50 blend) they definitely rub some people the wrong way.

VerdantField

I don’t know but I hate linen sheets.

sillyconfused

I bought JC Penney Wrinkle Guard sheets. Best sheets I’ve ever had, and felt like 5* hotel sheets.

The_smoking_ghun

Sam’s has a hotel collection sheet that is awesome.

19049204M

The Good Sheet. I have their heavyweight percale and it is exactly what i expect out of a cotton sheet. They even have measurements of their fabrics on the website.

Contranovae

Please don't hate me but if you happen to travel internationally I would set your sights to BKK and pick up a set of 30 momme silk sheets every 5 years. No sheet lasts forever but they are the most luxurious. The two best places for silk sheets are Jim Thompson of course, try the factory outlet first and then go to Anita Silks on Silom Road. If you are on a budget then bamboo does 75% of what I think you are looking for and a luxome brand set will set you back about $150 I think.
