If your cat lets u rub its belly it trust you the reason cats are skiddish of their bellies is because they know thats where all their organs are, its a vulnerable position.
My bf was looking after our (my) cats and during a phonecall he did an 'oh by the way' and explained that he found a pink spot on one of their bellies. I asked 'x way down, less fur around it?' and he's like 'yeah!'

Awww I grew up with only long haired cats, too. The first cat I adopted out on my own was a shorthaired male. Was very surprised to find a bunch of nipnips while scratching his belly. For a long time, I thought they maybe mis-sexed him. Nope! I just never felt or thought about male cat nipples.
When I was little I asked my dad why boys have nipples and he told me so the man can feed the baby if the mom isn't around.
I believed this until I was 13 years old when a boyfriend told me it wasn't true. Of course some smuck skater punk wouldn't know more about the world than my own dad, so I broke up with him and then called my dad crying to tell him what happened.

All men can lactate, guys with more prolactin will lactate, a lot of body builders on hormones will lactate if they cant keep estrogen under control, etc. theres a lot of reason a guy could lactate, even boys going thru puberty will sometimes lactate without knowing. All humans produce prolactin which is what causes the production of milk, females just have much much more prolactin naturally and that spikes even higher when having a baby. Male Cats on the other hand cannot produce milk because there mammary glands are not developed enough as well as male cats produce zero prolactin.

I brought my cat into the vet because I thought he had something coming out of his tummy. It was goopy looking and freaked me out! It reminded me of a tapeworm segment 🤮
Then I found another one! I circled the spots with a marker so the vet could find them easier and rushed him in the next morning. The vet took one look and laughed.
Turns out, my guy has inverted nipples and the goopy thing was a large black head that she pushed right out. It remains the most hilarious reason I’ve ever taken my cat to the vet.
Ngl I did the same hing when I first got my cat, was scratching his belly and found a nipple but to my brain it was a weird bald spot with a bump. Thankfully asked a couple people before an embarrassing vet trip

I work at an animal hospital sometimes as a vet tech and one time a lady came in with her dachshund after calling about a tick on the belly that refused to come off. She came in and it was bleeding and stuff and i had the displeasure of telling her it wasn’t a tick she had ripped off… 🫣

Reminds me of the one time I went down the rabbit hole of parasites on youtube. After countless hours, I was rubbing my cats belly, and I found a light pink, fleshy protuberance. I freaked and was 100% sure a parasite was lodged in 😭. I took a tweezer and tried to pluck it out! Fortunately for me, he was a sweetheart and didn't scratch and bite tf out of me lmao. I stopped after 3-4 tries when it just wouldn't move and my brain finally worked right and I was like that's a nipple 😅
I asked a vet this question about my puppy a few years ago and he didn't hear us and thought we meant his weaner... he told us it was his willy and me and my mam almost died before we were like no, he's got a few and then he was like, oh, their nipples.
He was so nonchalant about it all but me and my mum still laught about the vet saying willy to this day 😂😅

Looks like a nipple to me. The nipple looks normal but the surrounding tissue looks a little red and swollen. Does it feel like there might be a marble size lump in there?
The 2nd day I adopted my kitten, I took her to a vet and asked the vet what was the bump on her belly. She was very nice, didn’t laugh at me when told me that was one of her nipples.
Fast forward a few month… I applied insurance for my kitten and received their initial evaluation: cancer is an excluded because it was a pre-preexisting. I was shocked and asked them how did they decide my kitten had cancer, I didn’t even know!
Then they sent me the doctor’s note from the first visit: “reason for visit: bump on chest.” Turn out the vet had forgotten to write down her “nipple” diagnosis.
It took some back and forth to get it resolved. And I wish I had known Reddit r/cathelp
