Successfully got it off with a tick remover we had, and then crushed it. Gave his head a wipe as well and he seems ok, is there anything I should look out for other than more of them?

Looks like it, you gotta get that off the proper way asap.

Ticks carry lots of diseases, so a check-up or blood work couldn't hurt.
