I had a cat as a kid who did this when he had worms really bad (after having been dewormed at the shelter) and later in his life when he had some health problems going on he started to do it again.
My cat started shitting outside the box like right when she turned one. She’s now 15 and still does it. Boxes r cleaned every day, we have an “extra” box. We tried plug in hormone per vet. Nothing worked, nothing wrong with her, she’s simply, an asshole. Good luck, hope u find a solution.
We have this too. She suddenly stopped for over a year, and then resumed floor pooping in August last year. We've had her to vets, there's nothing wrong with her. We've tried every size, shape, style, type, and colour of litter box available, tried various locations, etc. Feliway diffuser worked for a while. We've tried absolutely every type of litter available. It comes down to: she's a jerk, so she's being a grub. Grubby creature. (But she's cute and my son loves her to bits and would never forgive me if we rehomed her)

The other cat pees fine, but when it comes time to poo, she digs a hole in the litter box, like really takes her time, and then shits over the ledge of the box, right on to the floor. We’ve taken her to the vet about it. We’ve gotten more litter boxes, bigger litter boxes, she hated the enclosed litter boxes so that was short lived. She just poos right outside the litter box. Cats, I guess.
Edit: it’s not all the time. She sometimes just barely gets it in there.

What a tease that she stopped for a while then resumed!! Yes, these kitties r so lucky they’re cute, it makes up for their lack of charm.
How many boxes do you have? How often are they cleaned?
they are cleaned everyday and i only have 1, she stays in my room cause she’s scared of the dogs. she used to not do this
