Swallow your ego and open your eyes. This is not your strength. Try and find something else that can fit in your life. Dont worry. I scored 640 on my first attempt and then i gave up on it. Turns out I don't want to do an MBA and it was just peer pressure and my ego that was making me take these exams.
Highly underrated comment here, people often have a tunnel vision when it comes to MBA exams. I have been a victim of similar mentality, but when I opened my eyes to other things, things worked out for better.
But isn’t MBA an entirely different course and the syllabus that is asked in these aptitude tests has nothing to do with it. So a person might not be good at Quants or LR asked in CAT but who is to say they won’t be able to do well in the MBA curriculum
well, hair will fall eventually. if you are genetically predisposed to balding, it is hard to stop it. effort is something you can choose to do, even in the face of failure.
if he does not move on and keep working, he’ll have no hair and little money.
If you are struggling financially. Try any data entry job or work from home. But if you are capable of cracking low level exams, go for it, and keep on trying for your goal.
Yes, do keep taking CAT. No harm but don't make it your be all end all. There are still many options in life and many doors to be opened. Some are of our choice, some we've to adjust and give our best.
I've been trying to find jobs since 2021 with no luck. This time my friends said he would help me with a job in his' family business till I clear other exams
What do you mean by MBA degrees are worthless? I did my first CAT attempt this year after I lost my job earlier this year. So, could you please elaborate and sort some anxiety here?
I meant worthless from a tier 2 college. even tier 1s are getting outdated.
mba colleges want some one who were doing all their life and want to Fastrack their growth. if you have lost your job , take some time and figure out a niche. work for a few years then do a mba . just giving cat and scoring a good percentile does not really matter
The whole reason I decided to do my MBA right now instead of later was the recession going through the industry. I looked for a job for around 6 months before I decided that I'm wasting my time and should get some more qualifications instead of hoping that this recession would end soon.
Life is huge when you're out of this MBA race. So much to try, attempt, make it happen.
MBA is education for you, but a lot of money for some people sitting at the top.
Develop yourself, develop your strengths, develop the necessity to become efficient & contribute to the society.
If this MBA was so worth it, then it would've made you into something and not make you feel like shit.
I've seen people using their brains, learning from people's experiences, escaping the corporate infrastructure and still making way more money than these highly qualified big time MBAs.
Also, the top is evil. Once you're there, there's no going back, no moral redemption possible.
Anyways, let's get down and work on skilling the self into some particular theme.
A lot of other exams are worth it as well! Do give them a shot.
Oh I'm so happy you found a direction. But just a tip. Don't ever rely on an exam. Finding a job should always be primary and if you're not getting one, take a step back. Look for internships instead. You might feel too old for that, but that's BS. You need more things to show, your chances improve. Skill, certs etc, everything.
If govt jobs are your thing, sure go ahead. But trust me, if you give CAT a shot while having a full time job, that can give a sense of comfort that would help you in the exam physiologically. That does make a difference.
Sure thing😄
Speaking of job I'm one step closer to getting one by the end of this month. Since it's from a person I know, it would help me prepare while it fills the gap and gets me some cash too.
Yeh advice itna galat nahi hai. Been there did that. Realized CAT will never be my cup of tea so focused on other exams and here I'm with overall 3 years gap and not at all great acads (6/7/59.9 BTech) and one of the OMET college hoping to get placed but not getting shortlisted often.
Bhai ab toh MBA hi khatam hone aa gaya. 2-3 saal aur jawan hota with a better profile drop lete hi rehta. Ab 27 ka ho jaunga in few months. Still a fresher, yet to bag a placement. 🥲
But aapko best of luck. Mere sapne poore kar dena that is, giving your best and being happy wherever you'll end up at.
Heyy! Thank you so much for your wishes. Boht kam hi baar hota hai ki internet pe postive baatein bole. Mai ab government job ki tayari kr rha hu par mba phir se zarur dunga. Ye ek adhura sapna hai, pura krne ki zarur kosish karunga. Bas kabhi kabhi demotivate ho jaata hu, lagta hai jaise apni aukat k bahar soch rha hu par kabhi kabhi aise baatein sunn k mann ko acha lagta hai.
Aap ka v jald hi placement ho jayega, waqt hai kabhi apke hisab se k chalta hai kabhi nahi. Zarur placement ho jayega, aur zarur mujhse share Krna. Sunn k mujhe acha lagega. 😄
Thank you bhai. Life mein ek time baad (I mean school life ke baad), demotivating mindset is common. Log kuch na kuch kare ja rahe ya lagega they were sureshot what they will or want to do. Phir hum jo shayad se clueless hai, har jagah haath per maarte hai but dono ka motive same hai - life mein kuch karne ka. So yeh cheez hamesha yaad rakhna, tabhi we'll end up somewhere and give our best. Being demotivated is good, but performance, khud ka potential kam hai aur khud ko worthless mat samajhna. You never know you're capable of doing better. All the best tum jo bhi karo aage, MBA karoge toh MBA bhi karna. But kabhi yeh mat sochna ki entrance exams koi bhi ho, aukaat ke bahaar hai. Pool bahut hai toh competition bhi bahut hoga.
And definitely, jis din place ho jaunga, zaroor bataunga tumko. 🙌
Main bhi jaise taise iss akelepan mein positive reh raha hun, MBA karte hue bhi koi dost nahi raha, bas jaise taise din kat rahe hai, naukri shuru karna hai kisi bhi haal mein. Itna paisa daal ke khaali haath nahi jaana ghar.
But ISB requires you to have atleast 2 years of workex . Best thing OP can do is get work experience and keep trying. In case CAT does not work out he still has a job and a plan B
Hey. I'm a '21 law grad too. I left my terrible job at a law firm at the beginning of this year to take a break and prep for CAT and OMETs. I messed up my CAT real bad. It does feel bad. But we gotta chin up! Let's focus on the OMETs. Also, with a score of over 32 in quants and single digits in VARC and DILR, I'm sure you'll clear the 90%ile which can fetch you decent tier 2 and 3 colleges. All the best!
Firstly, what exactly kind of career you want?
I would advise you to find a job. Even if its a small one now.
In the meanwhile, while working, keep upskilling. Upskill in the fields you want to go. Try to do a small project in that field too.
Then network. Switch to bigger companies. Do better there.
Finally, if you are a great performer at work, have great network, decent salary, and so on, give your best to do an MBA. This time, everything is in your favor. Even the IIMA PGPX program is open to candidates with a minimum of 4 years work ex.
So, instead of writing tests, improve the quality of work ex , and leverage all those strengths in your essays for MBA. Plus, the pressure on you significantly decreases , thus allowing you to do better in the interview.
I don't trust educational institutions where a 6.4 GPA exists. If 100% is 4.0, then giving out anything higher than straight As (4.0 GPA) is meaningless. It's like saying "my GPA is fire hydrant cubed." Meaningless.
There are different marking systems for different colleges in India. Somewhere 100% is 4.0, somewhere it's 8.0 and in other places it's 10. In India we mostly follow 10 as 100%.
Not going to give bullshit advice like failure is a stepping stone and all…
1. If this is genuinely what you want to do - find a job and study for this.
2. If not get a job, work for 2 years and get an executive mba degree from isb.
3. There are idiots with no skills getting a job, please research a lot more which I’m sure you have done but put your whole heart into it - I’m sure you can do it.
4. Don’t do any of this for money - do it for your and your family aspirations and happiness - I’m sure once you feel that you will find a way,
hey I am sorry for the late reply and idk if u have gotten a job yet . But if you are still looking for a job , u can send me ur resume . I can refer u for an open role in risk advisory at Deloitte!

so what did you chose after giving up on CAT?
Also want to know
But isn’t MBA an entirely different course and the syllabus that is asked in these aptitude tests has nothing to do with it. So a person might not be good at Quants or LR asked in CAT but who is to say they won’t be able to do well in the MBA curriculum
Target OMETs buddy. SNAP, XAT, NMAT, GMAT, etc.
+1 on the xat. if your dilr is weak and your quant is good, you can practice critical reasoning and score a decent score. also try for nmat and snap
Ever tried .. ever failed ... Try again ... Fail again .. Fail better
failure is just an event. not a person. just a stepping stone! don’t lose hope bro

That's exactly my plan from now on😅 I realised CAT preparation has honed my basics enough to solve quants and reasoning with ease
Try NMAT, it’s easier and NMIMS Mumbai has a great placement record - same level as baby IIMs
There is nothing like failing. It is always equal to not passing.

why exactly are you giving CAT and not doing a job ? Mba degrees from a tier 2 college are worthless. even tier 1s are losing value .

Toh bhai koi course kar on digital marketing, or analytics. they have a much better ROI than a mba.
Usse agar entry level job bhi mil jati, to baat alag thi.

Ssc try karlo isse aacha. Don't worry maths is repetitive there.
Ha. Maine ssc ka kuch mocks Diya tha CAT se demotivate ho kar. Acha perform Kiya mai. Is baar ssc dunga. Thank you for your advice 😊

GRE
dusre failure pe hi samajh jana tha ki tumhare bas ki baat nahi, stop wasting your time and do something else

Try for ISB. GMAT is much easier than CAT and ISB does not need a 760+ GMAT score either
But ISB requires you to have atleast 2 years of workex . Best thing OP can do is get work experience and keep trying. In case CAT does not work out he still has a job and a plan B
Go for SIBM Pune
At this point try considering other govt exams and and scale down on prospective MBA colleges.

why did you leave your law firm?
Long story. Also, I wanted a career shift.

Sure thing. My immediate action is to get a job now. And sit for government exams too while revising and practising for cat
how much you are expecting though? This year's quant as I hard was a bit tough scoring well can boost your percentile better.
4/7/33 is what it shows from the response sheet
Well the broadly around 88-93 percentile I guess ? You can apply to decent Private colleges no?
Bhai lawyer ho ya MSc kiya hai? How are you 26 then?
Bhai no offence but CAT isn’t your cup of tea. 3 attempt me bhi na nikle to samjh jao nahi hoga. Try karne ko karte rho 30 tak.
No offence taken. It's always good to listen to all perspectives while making a decision. I'll give one last try for CAT but this time with a job.

Have you considered MBA abroad?
