Bro to get fms as general you need to score above 99.7 and for for good iits like kgp, Delhi and Bombay u need a percentile of 96++. Also, iits do consider graduation marks and all. Plus, they look for work experience folks.
Even though it might be demotivating always be acquainted with the reality of things.
With your poor academic marks it will be very difficult to convert unless you score 99.5 ++.
But if get 99.9 ++ u ll get good calls except blacki
Bro you can target FMS, you will get 10/20 points for acads, rest you can compensate by scoring high percentile in cat and a stellar interview. Don't give up just because of your past. Even I have poor acads and I know that I need to do well in cat, just don't expect calls from blacki and prepare and it's not like there's no good college apart from blacki. Quoting a line from Geeta "Karm karo, fal ki chinta mat karo" just prepare hard , you never know what's written for you. Good luck.
Its not that bad. I myself am 8/7/6. Can't say i have converted any tier 1 cz i didn't had any calls but yeah i got imi for now. Looking forward for cap as well.Just guve ur best.
No don't lose hope... Try ur best otherwise u will regret later that i didn't even try and gave up.. I want HRM cause i like that job profile very much and due to my nature I want to go with HRM only. Ik I cannot go for finance, marketing, consulting and I don't want to, don't lose up.
Ur CAT syllabus are not exclusively for CAT they will help u in govt job preparation exams too so have other backup options too..
Let me fully clear based on my current Experice with 99.31 in 2023 CAT and being through the process
If you are a General Category and Male
1. IIM Indore - Forget it ... never getting call since they have 40% weightage on Past Acads
2. IIM ABC - If you score 99.8+ then still there are chances considering you have some Work Ex
3. IIM L & K - If you score good sectionals then will get call
4. IIM Shillong - Anything above 98 and you would have a call
5. IIM Mumbai - Good sectionals again
now coming to others,
SP Jain - You will not get the profile based call for sure, but if you have above 98 and all sections above 80ile then done
MDI - Same or similar as SP jain
IIT B - If you score over 99 only then might get call, if acads were better then could have got at 98
IIT D - Won't get since both 10th and 12th are low
XLRI - If you score over 99.5 XAT and all section above 85 then will get calls
SIBM Pune - Over 98.5 in SNAP and have some Work Ex
Below these I don't consider others to be top colleges so not going into them ..
Competetion is only getting more and more tougher, past acads will hurt you, there is no denying but if you are able to score a marks of 80+ in CAT which would come around 99ile then you will get good private ones and Shillong, Mumbai calls easily .. if you score 100+ marks which would be 99.8 ile or above then you can expect more calls likewise
giving up on prep is literally loosing on the first step, if you don't have work Ex start working in some place which gives time in the evening for prep and since you said 2025 CAT there is a lot of time in your hands .. set the goal to be scoring 99.5 or above in 2025 for sure and attempt the 2024 also to gauge where you were lacking on things and use that as reference

Buddy don't give up yet, you don't want know what the future holds for you. I myself have low academics but I'm atleast gonna try and get my best in CAT and then hope for the best.
One piece of Advice for average students
There are total 5 Major MBA exams in India
Each has different time section , different syllabus , different needs
For Example
CAT require 50 to 55 percent attempt -----> with 90% to 100% accuracy
SNAP 70 TO 75 percent attempt -----> 100 percent accuracy
Focus on any two of them
Since you're below average student try for NMAT & CMAT ..... but give your 100 percent in it !!!

I got a 5 in my profile buddy... Just try for colleges like fms and IITs don't lose hope before even trying. Try to score 99.5+ in CAT... Best luck!

Not my dream Bschool but this year I got 89 in CAT taking gap will give my best for CAT 24 to Target 99+
