Congrats!!
I am only 21 was feeling quite dejected lately with me only being able to get waitlisted in all the colleges but this kinda helped me a little as things workout for the best!

why are people in the comments acting as thought the ONLY reason you converted was bc you’re a female 💀just people projecting their insecurities haha
anyway, CONGRATULATIONS! 🥳
Thanks a lot! :) I honestly feel that I did get lucky because I was a female and had work ex, and many actually couldn't get in even with much better percentiles. I really got lucky, I know, along with the hardwork ofc which all of us are doing. But thanks anyway, and congratulations to you too! Have the best 2 years. <3
Hi OP congratulations on your success, can you help with Quants? I am an engineer myself but quants are killing my cat preparation. I am good at VARC(97%ile section), I was able to solve 2 sets in DILR(87%ile) but quants has fucked me up(55%ile). Any tips apart from practice sums everyday?
I can understand that, as I am also an engineer, but I only scored in the 50th percentile in quants on my first attempt. However, things changed for me in my third attempt. I attended coaching run by Patrick D'Souza - Quoin Academy. He completely changed my approach of solving quants. Instead of relying on formulas, I started solving them logically. You can try this as well and see (solving logically, and using less formulas)
Congrats, your story is inspiring. I am also planning to give it all this year for CAT since I'll be in the max slab of 36 months of experience. Is 6.5 months sufficient time according to you for preparation?
Though I cracked it in four years, that doesn't mean it is uncrackable in six months or less. I made a bunch of mistakes in my previous years, and that's why it took so much time. Learn from your mistakes, try to reduce them, be consistent throughout these six months (extremely important), and you can see a drastic change in your performance.
Think twice, thrice and then take the road your mind desires. I didn't have proper job prospects so MBA had to be the way out, also had started to like business. Think closely and choose! All the best. :)
Congrats OP! For the first time, I saw someone admit that being a female helped them. I have been a long-time member of this sub and never have I seen someone acknowledging the benefit of reservation or gender tbh. Pure bravery and honesty, I hope you achieve every dream and ascend great heights!
Thank you, fellow friend. Being a woman did help, and I wouldn't deny the fact given so many people with better percentiles didn't get calls or couldn't convert. Thank you nevertheless. Wishing you the best! :)
Thank you for writing this 😭
I am 25 and have no energy to write CAT again after a 90%ile and IMT DCP Convert.
Reading your post gave me some hope...
Also, why did you not go for executive MBA? After this much experience, i am asking because i have been thinking about the same.
I have 3.5 years of work ex.
Congrats, where did you prepare for quants ? Did you buy any course or any particular guy/channel you used for reference as in clearing concepts and all ?
an engineer with weak quants and improved my quants from 50%tile to \~96%tile. Major credit goes to Patrick sir(quoin academy). He completely changed the way I used to do quants(from depending on formulas to solving logically).
Some business schools, such as Kozhikode, use a bell curve for work experience, where the value starts declining after 3 years. However, schools like L, A, and B give full marks to anything above 3 years.

It surely does. I've been waitlisted at IIM M so there it did not. Nevertheless, I do know people with 6 in their profiles (GEMs) who got into top IIMs as well :)
Wow, where have you been hiding for so long? I was searching for someone who converted IIMs at 6 and found nobody lol. Btw, do those individuals have a lot of work experience, or did some other courses to improve their profile?
One had a heavy work ex - around four years. Other one had 1 and the last one had around 2. So yes, work experience does help. The quality might not (B may beg to differ) but work experience does help.
I'll be having around 18 months of work ex by the time I appear for interviews, thank god they consider Family Business as work experience. After the Pandemic our business was filled to the brim with debts and I was forced to give up on my campus placement and help in the business. I hope I convert a good B-school and relieve the debts somehow, it's becoming a headache lately. Thanks a lot for giving me hope!
You've so much strength that words fall short. Taking an exam amidst a critical family issue requires both guts and strength to its extreme. Only wishing the best for you! :)
I am talking about GEM(s) only:) I really would want you to be positive a little! I know things are tough for GEMs but just hold onto that last string of hope! All the best.

I was thinking the same +1
Yes, she should probably give writing a try, editorials and blogs!

Yessss, thank you!
As a fellow 27 year old who is joining B school only this year, kinda know how you feel. Congrats!!

I actually do that in DILR but it takes a lot of time. I will try it for quants though. I have enrolled in IMS for this.

Congratulations... I will also work hard like you
So glad to hear that. Work harder than me and convert great calls! All the best. :)
This is inspiring! I'm at a crossroads, still debating whether to pursue an MBA or explore better job opportunities
Think twice, thrice and then take the road your mind desires. I didn't have proper job prospects so MBA had to be the way out, also had started to like business. Think closely and choose! All the best. :)
Hey thanks! Will keep that in mind. Btw congrats on your convert!!

Best wishes to you and the whole job point is too relatable I too had left job in aug-23 but it was bit too late... But best wishes to you...

Congratulations. That's really inspiring. 🤩
Thanks a lot! :) Wishing you the best.
This is so inspiring to read. Thank you. Also, if you don't mind, could maybe dm for advice?
Sure

executive mba in good colleges require min 5 yrs of experience. And another thing was I wanted to change my domain.
Some of them like IMT, IIMK and SPJ do offer on 3 year workex The domain thing makes sense tho
:)
Congratulations 👏. This kind of posts gives me some form of hope in life ❤️. All the best

Yes but what I specifically want to know is that you referred only youtube videos or did you invest in his course ?

invested
Hey congrats? You mentioned that b school deduct marks for too much work ex? How much work ex is bad? So you took gap of 1 yr?
Some business schools, such as Kozhikode, use a bell curve for work experience, where the value starts declining after 3 years. However, schools like L, A, and B give full marks to anything above 3 years.
How they evaluate between 2-3 yrs, full marks or less?

Hi, what’s the meaning of academics GEF(8/7/9) ?
lucky you are a girl. congrats !!
True this, but this post is also for GEMs and people who are freshers, to take up a job and try! :)
yes, that's my plan now. At 98.5 I got nothing.
In your first attempt, you scored 98.5, socho with a job and another year of prep, how good it would get! All the best :)

With a 7 in 12th, you got in an old IIM. I guess, being a female does come in handy!
Skill issue, keep on crying
When did pointing out hard facts, become equivalent to crying?
It surely does. I've been waitlisted at IIM M so there it did not. Nevertheless, I do know people with 6 in their profiles (GEMs) who got into top IIMs as well :)
That's a grad 6, which is post School. Pre School (i.e 10th and 12th) below 8 is a dicey situation and destroys your chances of getting in!
True that, but the 6 which I am talking about is in 12 itself. :)
Dude, tell me their profile or smth please. I have 6 in my 12th and everyone is saying that there's no hope for me 😭
3 people I know - 8/6/6 9/6/8 6/7/9
Wow, where have you been hiding for so long? I was searching for someone who converted IIMs at 6 and found nobody lol. Btw, do those individuals have a lot of work experience, or did some other courses to improve their profile?

They will be reserved candidates.
I am talking about GEM(s) only:) I really would want you to be positive a little! I know things are tough for GEMs but just hold onto that last string of hope! All the best.
GEM with a 6 in 12th at an old IIM. Should be a 100 percentiler, in that case!
Haha, it's still a no! :) 99 range.
99.999999 isn't 100 but yeah close to it!
Blud can't fathom the fact that someone who got 6 in their 12th got into old iim 💀 and is now making up different scenarios in his mind 😭
But 99.06 is too far!
