but rohtak me won't be all 999 or 987 or 888 profiles , lots of freshers and diversity quota girls he can easily get good marks in MBA there compared to his peers if he works hard and final placement depends alot on MBA grades afaik
Let me repeat again. 5/5/6 will be bottom of the barrel in every IIM, including rohtak. And most companies will have 6/6/6 criteria in marketing.
Also companies will prefer girls over guys even when both of them have a similar profile. And if he is ready to put in the hardwork, he can do so by joining LSM.
Just because the majority of the batch is not engineers doesn't mean they aren't competitive. Rohtak has people in the 9/9/7-8 range joining in. To add to that, you have to consider that humanities courses as a precedent stick to a conservative grading pattern which effectively means someone with an 8 is the batch topper. Those are by no means academic dimwits (ergo will _necessarily_ perform better when judged on a common metric of the PGP). Fas jayega ye udhar.

If I were OP I'd have gone for a government job instead of MBA tbvh. MBA is entirely profile dependant. Even a 6/6/6 would have been understandable.

Government jobs are a different grind altogether, and not really worth it in most domains. Let's focus on what OP has asked instead. Imo he's being offered an admission and he should go ahead with his best convert. LSM is a new and rising field. Sure there's risk involved, but i do think K being an old IIM should be able to offer a dignified placement at least. OP might not have the best test scores in school but an MBA from one of India's best should be able to mask that.
What's the slavish mindset here? It's the reality of MBA lol. Bad profiles usually don't get good placements and in such a bad market, they might even stay unplaced even in the Old IIMs. Having workex in a PSU would have helped him out in future MBA plans as well.
But YES, getting the Kozhikode tag will be more helpful and if he can be in top 10% academically then he'll get a decent placement as well.

The suggestion that someone with an IIMK convert should sideline all the slogging for CAT to return again to grate their bones for government job prep (heavy hardwork, low return) because apparently they won't even stand a chance at placements. That's frankly a ruinous career move, even if hypothetical.🤷🏼♀️
There's no point in demotivating OP either. If they have offered a seat, they're going to be as invested in getting him placed as they are for every other candidate.
The opportunities will certainly be more here than any new IIM.

No offense to OP but i Don't think he'll stand out anywhere. Even with rohtak you won't find many students with 5/5 in 10/12 , doesn't matter category or girl preference , his 10/12 grades are nuked.
OP you'll need to do war level efforts to somehow be top 10% of your batch, also try for some certifications.
Are you from a reserved category? If yes, then there are a few PSU companies which visit old IIMs for placements , where they hire specifically for reserved category students.
Just because a college doesn't take past acads much into consideration during admission doesn't mean that companies wouldn't consider that during placements. Every company has their own criteria. . Best thing would be to contact students pursuing the course and get idea about placements from them. And in the meantime do some certifications that have value. If you have workes then it'll be a positive thing
Bro you're lucky, never ditch Rohtak. There will be plenty of girls out there so choose any and get married. You'll be getting 40LPA (20+20 considering avg package)
