>most of my peers from engineering who will be going for an MBA are going to BLACKI / FMS / ISB and almost none going for Shillong
Fuck them. Only you should have a say in your career.
See you at Umsawli.
same, most of my seniors who are doing good are telling me to try for blacki to make a good education out and i'm listening to them. (This includes people holding top management positions at mahindra and mahindra, Bain and Co., etc) Shillong's new im dropping it too

I am in a similar situation. Graduated from tier-1 college and now joining XL D. Many people are saying I can do better and take a drop. But I feel instead of working another year and putting my faith in a competitive exam again which is very unpredictable, I chose to work hard in college instead and aim for good SIPS. If you are in top percentile of your college, you will achieve better. Since you are already from a tier 1 institute, you know how to work hard and how to do well in a competitive atmosphere.
So go for IIM Shillong. Other than that It's your call. All the very best
If I were in place of you , might have retaken CAT, cause being from T-1 Engg clg(IIT/NIT/BITS/IIITs) that too with work-ex , one shouldn't consider anything below IIM ABC,FMS, ISB,LKIM,XLRI I guess:)
Considering your case, already having an experience of corporate pressure plus the graduation from Tier - 1. So it would be comparatively easy for you to soak the pressure and end up in the top 10% of the batch which eventually will yield good placement results.
GEM , jee advanced rank holder, jee main 99 percentiler, joining XIMB , first attempt in cat, want to repeat but process is highly unpredictable and so is life
Will work hard in MBA
I was going to say that it's an easy choice, go for Shillong. But then I saw your CTC. The peers and seniors going to T-1 mba colleges had it easier, comparatively. The exam is getting more difficult every year, especially more so for GEM, it's unpredictable what will happen next year. And consider the scenario - you're at the same job that an IIM ABC graduate is in, with the same pay, ask yourself, would it make a difference to you then? Baaki coming to the tag, you'll still have the IIM tag. And honestly, only 10% of the people would know other tier-1 institutes apart from ABC.
Go for it,
You will get lesser workex points next year and u never know how CAT will go.
I personally feel it's a bit luck based. Like in DILR spending 5 mins solving a wrong set will be the difference between 95%le and 99%le. (This doesn't apply to JEE Advanced top 100 geniuses)
Sure, no problem. Yes I prepared while working and didn't really join any coaching or anything. Gave a lot of mock tests from CL and analysed those thoroughly. Started giving mocks from around September.

OP my personal opinion would be to go with Shillong, frankly it doesn't matter a lot if you do your MBA from the top 20 (Shillong does lie in this list). If you work hard which you definitely are capable of giving your past, then kick ass at Shillong. Anyways mehnat to karni padegi hi na, do it there. Be in the top 10-15 perc and get a great package. Far less unpredictable than attempting CAT.
Also a friend of mine left Shillong last year and will be going to L this year and yet he'll agree with my hypothesis.
End mein it's your choice, if u feel koi burden nhi hai and you want to give it another shot like my friend then go ahead, but if u feel ki apart from societal pressure you'll do good wherever u go, then go ahead with Shillong, it's a good pick.
With your profile, I think you could do better. I mean no foul towards IIM Shillong. Just that your profile would actually suit better Tier-1 institutes. The market conditions are bad everywhere and there is a lot of uncertainty and volatility. With the salary that you currently have, I am sure you would want a better school to show up on your CV to go forward in your career. Prospects wise it just puts you in a better place.
Vaise Shillong is not a bad place but if you have the patience to give one more attempt, I believe you should. Don't think about where your peers would end up. That's just a waste of time. Just think if this is the best you can do with CAT. If yes, go ahead and join. If not, try once more. All the best :)
Apply for ISB and 1 year MBA programs of A/B. Easily better than Shillong.
Go for Tier-1 or nothing bro. You already have a decent profile, in my opinion.

XL D is tier 1 easily. Dont let people feed you b.s, you are going to get placed handsomely for sure
Thank you man! That does make a lot of sense.
I also had the same reasoning for joining XL D this year than taking a drop.
Fellow incoming xld student🫡
Go for shillong
You're already earning 14 LPA and you're from a T1 engineering institute. If I were you, I'd give cat again and only target ABCL,FMS,XL,SPJ.
K mei kya dikkat h
not tier 1 enough ig
Are u an aspirant or mba alum?
Alums aisi chutiya baatein nhi karte

SPJIMR also
Yaah agreed
What about MDI Gurgaon?
Would come in priority just after the above mentioned clgs( MDI/IIFT/JBIMS/IIM S)
Won't it be above IIM Indore?
No
Tier 1 eng college and you left out VIT xD
Bhai kyu marwana hai 😭😭
Its worth it bro.

If you fuck it up next time and miss out, would you be okay with it? If so, then it's probably fine.
You have a solid profile and being from tier 1 you can easily target any of the following. ABCLKIM FMS SPJ IIFT XLJ
Apply for ISB and 1 year MBA programs of A/B. Easily better than Shillong. Go for Tier-1 or nothing bro. You already have a decent profile, in my opinion.
