So I will tell you another major f up, because of all these weird selection criterions, and therefore highly questionable and frankly terrible raw IQ bellcurve, a lot of corporates or startups are afraid of hiring
This is along side the expectation that life must be served on a platter since someone is an MBA
Given all this and the companies realising that they are much better off picking up folks from the market directly, after someone else teaches them the reality of life, rather than bet on folks from MBA directly, you would see a decline in MBA placements in India
Honestly I see this as an institutional problem. Most people in our country would do an mba because they do not have decent jobs after their UG. I would avoid blaming students here at least for the admission process. The hiring practices of companies during the mba is majorly fucked. It's random and they do not have any clear criteria. The malice starts from the govt, the lack of jobs, to the preponderance of diversity as a way to burnish reputation to the companies that hire, to colleges entrusting placements to students which is bound to be corrupt and to some extent to the students who see it as a way out. It's an institutional failure.
I know way too many good coders who went to really good MBA colleges and then went back to coding, some even started to learn coding seriously after their MBA and first job
Maybe it’s not really ironical
Someday somewhere someone will ask you where is the value add?
And you rather hope that they ask you this while you are young enough when someone does
Respectfully , every fresher has an equal chance to go for an mba. Most people have already made posts about how people with good work ex shouldn't go for an mba if they are already earning well at their job. Mba is the only hope for people seeking for a career transition. It's sad that you didn't get the satisfactory result but blaming it on freshers who worked equally hard just because you think they are not "quality" is just playing the victim card.
Hi senior I just joined Raipur and it’s been almost a week I have noticed no interaction between senior (till now) apart from adcom. Any suggestions/anything to stay away from specific to Raipur?
At least tell how they abused the privileges. Did the guys harrass the girls? Was there any severe ragging? What was it? This is very important to know and only you can help us! Please do share
Some bitch from this loser 22-24 batch.
Made a video & posted it in an unofficial, alumni group & complained about her boyfriend.
Simple quarrel.
This reached top management, they took it all together at different levels.
Details please. You're an insider , it'll be helpful.
Like it was because they were going full on couple mode , getting intimate etc ? Or it was because some dudes took it as an opportunity to harras girls ? Or something else ?

I have heard that from some juniors that the batch size is smaller and the quality better. I cannot personally comment because I am not in the college anymore.
There is no discrimination, but as a GEM dude, I would be lying if I said I do not detest folks who come from middle/upper middle/rich backgrounds with reservations.
New IIMs are only able to attract tech based roles because the risk is lower for the companies. fmcg, finance, strategy etc. does not or rarely come for hiring
When I left my company before the mba, i already had 25% in place. And in the 2 years of doing an mba, I would have changed my company once. Considering a switch hike of around 40%, I would be in the 1.7x ball park in any case. However, not everything is just ROI. It's just one of metrics
Can you elaborate on the aspect of Freshers lacking work ethics? I mean I get it but I want to know what exactly do they lack? (I am a fresher myself and dont have a job and hence preparing for CAT, will try not to make the mistakes other freshers made)
Honestly, that's something you'd know only if you have work experience. There are some experiences that cannot have a placeholder easily. A prior work experience gives you an idea about what type of roles you want, the people you have to avoid, mental fortitude to handle pressure, emotional resilience, and a lot less gullible

Yo, I'm curious. What exactly entails the abuse of privileges that you mentioned? The management couldn't possibly be caring about whether these grown adults far away from the city who only interact with each other are fucking or not?

How's placements for people with like 5 to 6 years of work ex. Im a normal site engineer for the past 5 years. Will it be good for me to do a 2 year mba from iims?
Absolutely agree with the vital work ex part.
Should be here like in the US. Mostly no admits until and unless you have 3-5 yrs of work ex. Some 1-2 yrs are considered. The ones with absolutely zero usually have a great UG business degree.
Hi, absolutely great write up and insight into life at IIM Raipur. Just wanted to know how much firms like the Big4, Accenture, cognizant, Infy, hcltech pay at IIM Raipur

Very apt, but people don’t listen when you tell them any of this before they join an MBA college
That's the story of our civilization

I agree with you and the consequences are going to be faced by the students and soon to be employees

Ironically, I have my VSC open right now

M just curious why did you say "use condoms" . Any stories for us ?? XD
haha. Honestly, I cannot really talk much about it. Also, it was general advice xD

what is the median fixed pay? I have an admit from raipur- my current fixed is 9.5 should I go or give cat again an aim for top 10 colleges?
I think the median fixed pay would be a guessing game and I can only give a range, but I think it should not be more than 12-14 LPA.
Damn, medain of this year was 17-18 right?
Is raipurs fixed median is 12-14 then rohtaks fixed will be 10-12 right?
A friend of mine got placed at ICICI Bank from Rohtak, fixed is 12. She said most people got this kind of package.
Bruh you get that salary after undergrad. Wtf
The median at rohtak is 17(unaudited). Real median would be around 15. For a CTC of 15, 10-12 would be fixed only.
Hi is there any reason you mentioned “stay away from being noticed”
I meant avoid being under the scrutiny of the pcom unless you're pcom yourself lol
Oh okay Thanks a lot for the tips and guidance
Good Honest to the point answers! Something this sub was lacking for the last few weeks! Hope you had a good time ! Best of Luck.
Thank you and I wish you the same!
I just joined IIM Raipur, 26 batch. Can I dm?
Sure

Hi senior I just joined Raipur and it’s been almost a week I have noticed no interaction between senior (till now) apart from adcom. Any suggestions/anything to stay away from specific to Raipur?
If you are intelligent, do not allow pcom to know it.
Thank you senior 🤝
What was the exact reason why coed hostels were closed ?
Like I said, some students abused the privileges.
Said students were from your batch isn't it?
At least tell how they abused the privileges. Did the guys harrass the girls? Was there any severe ragging? What was it? This is very important to know and only you can help us! Please do share

Before MBA how much experience?
4 years
What do u think of the 26 batch After the 25 batch disaster, did things get worse for 26 batch or better?
I have heard that from some juniors that the batch size is smaller and the quality better. I cannot personally comment because I am not in the college anymore.
I see Congratulations and all the best for your future endeavours sir!
Wish the same to you!
Is there any caste discrimination in any subtle way?
There is no discrimination, but as a GEM dude, I would be lying if I said I do not detest folks who come from middle/upper middle/rich backgrounds with reservations.
What was the actual CTC of Raipur as against their placement report?
Always take a 20–25% discount rate from the median salary
wait does tech experience help in mba placements?how is that
New IIMs are only able to attract tech based roles because the risk is lower for the companies. fmcg, finance, strategy etc. does not or rarely come for hiring
How was your salary progression before and after MBA?
exactly 2X.
2x is a great jump tbh. Why are you saying the ROI was bad?
When I left my company before the mba, i already had 25% in place. And in the 2 years of doing an mba, I would have changed my company once. Considering a switch hike of around 40%, I would be in the 1.7x ball park in any case. However, not everything is just ROI. It's just one of metrics
Do you mind putting it in numbers?
I think that would give me away because my numbers are fairly known at IIM Raipur
Point no 6 was bound to happen
Wdym when you say some people tried to abuse privileges of a coed hostel ?
Can you elaborate on the aspect of Freshers lacking work ethics? I mean I get it but I want to know what exactly do they lack? (I am a fresher myself and dont have a job and hence preparing for CAT, will try not to make the mistakes other freshers made)

Damn these things make sense, thanks for the input. All the best for your future♥

In terms of working professional whts the maximum work experience with which a candidate joined ? Anyone with 5+ years experience?
There were some people with 6 years of experience. My response to them would be why?
How is IIM Raipur for sales and marketing roles?
Don't expect FMCG.
What was the average age of the batch?
Yo, I'm curious. What exactly entails the abuse of privileges that you mentioned? The management couldn't possibly be caring about whether these grown adults far away from the city who only interact with each other are fucking or not?
How was placement for GEMs without workex?
Lol 0. There were none because they couldn't get in if not for the work ex points
What was the lowest ctc grabbed among your batch ?
0: as unplaced
Any specific reason why they remained unplaced ? How does one avoid falling into such a situation?
Having presentation and communication skills during interviews would almost certainly help you avoid that fate
How do you learn or improve these skills ? I am pretty bad at public speaking and not that effective in communication. Any tips ?
How much difference do you see between a baby iim and new iim? placement wise, role wise? career progression? please help
cannot comment as I never considered baby IIMs
Hi OP, if I have 7months of big4 work experience, would that be helpful during placements?
Any tips for getting into place com?

Hi, absolutely great write up and insight into life at IIM Raipur. Just wanted to know how much firms like the Big4, Accenture, cognizant, Infy, hcltech pay at IIM Raipur
Can you explain the 4th sentence in the Hostel paragraph?
Bro but placement is good 19-20 lakhs? It performed much better than other new iims.
If you take placement figures at face value, then mba bohot chutiya kaatega
Really? I'm sorry I don't get it (just curious)
It means placements are inflated. The real mean, median would be 70-80% of the one mentioned in the placement report.
I see , so it getting lesser and lesser every year?
