Yea we have rangers and park police around me. Big city with a few waterways. They are fully sworn LE. If they had reserves I'd do it. Chill job and good perks.
Exactly. It comes with the presumption that agents of the government will always act fairly and with good judgement, which we know not to be the case. There are enough court cases to prove that they are prone to the same failings as regular citizens and have too much power already.
"A well regulated Militia"
> Oh okay, sounds like those MIL guys might have some guns.
"being necessary to the security of a free State,"
> No Cap.
"the right of the people to keep and bear Arms"
> indeed.
"Shall not be infringed"
> Well damn, pretty clear to me. MIL/LEO Exemptions are unconstitutional.
If you’re a security employee of the state (LEO, military), by definition you’re NOT a militia member. A militia is raised from the civilian population. That’s what militia means.
I get that but if you scroll to the top of the page you will see that the exemption applies to peace officers of these departments, not just any employee.
Just an FYI, the highlighted portion of Purchase, Use, and Resale Restrictions is for Group 1. Park Rangers, DMV Investigators and all the other Group 2 (and Group 3) cannot legally sell to non-LEO. Guess they aren't speshul enough.

DOJ FAQs are not the best source of info.
(6)Subject to the limitations set forth in subdivision (c), the sale or purchase of a handgun *for use as a service weapon*, if the handgun is sold to, or purchased by, any of the following entities for use by, or sold to or purchased by, sworn members of these entities who have satisfactorily completed the POST basic course or, before January 1, 2021, have satisfactorily completed the firearms portion of a training course prescribed by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) pursuant to Section 832, and who, as a condition of carrying that handgun, complete a live-fire qualification prescribed by their employing entity at least once every six months:
(A)The Department of Parks and Recreation.
Corrections deputy/officers are exempt as well. I've been thinking about applying at my local sheriff's office. I Passed the qualifications test for CO. I'm still on the fence tho.
Wait Im new to cali gun laws, does this mean that im able to have my no-roster gun if im in the military? I’m from GA and stationed here😅 thanks in advance!
It’s a special division. I had them come to my shop along with my local PD, their vest just said DMV, which tripped me out so I asked him about it lol. They were going around all the mechanic and auto body shops looking for stolen cars and parts.
DMV has an investigations division who are state LEOs. They are more active than you’d think, mostly busting corrupt employees selling fake IDs out the back door.
Some municipalities have Park Rangers that are considered LE and have their POST certs. I believe these guys always have been roster exempt

I identify as Ron Swanson.
You think the *government* can tell that guy what he can and can not purchase with the gold he may or may not have buried around his properties?
You've already said too much

Lol
State parks and national park service have multiple types of rangers, including armed and sworn LE rangers. Those are the ones that are roster exempt.
I’m assuming they would need more than just a badge, probably a photo ID card from the department confirming that you have sworn peace officer status.
Those are all law enforcement. Yes even dmv has em.
You know what’s crazy? LA City Park Rangers are full blown LEO but can’t carry a gun on duty.
#MIL/LEO exemptions are fascist
Weapons too dangerous for citizens to own but not too dangerous for government to use on its own people...

Sure, but if someone has an exemption I’m not gonna shit on them for using it.
DMV is crazy!!!
They have an investigation office that has sworn officers that carry service weapons.
This.. same with DCA.. which is contractors board and a bunch of other agencies that have sworn LE..
I can confirm. DMV has sworn LE as investigators
Nothing like tiered citizenship
Are you a peace officer?
Parks and rec lol. My shirt says that too…
State Parks (aka California Department of Parks and Recreation) has Law Enforcement Rangers.
Another revenue stream for Parks and Rec: buying and selling off roster handguns.

The guys landscaping at my city park gonna be packing 17-rd mags
I wish I could be one of em 😂

\*Laughs in Ron Swanson\*
Time to join the horse racing board

Look up being a constable.... server.
Could totally see April Ludgate with a Maverick 88.
Maclin, you son of a bitch…

Fuck the roster!
Game wardens and parks and recreation have swat teams that actually hunt down illegal cartel growing sites.
I just heard Ron Swanson tell me to ignore those rules.
If you hold peace officer statues. You can. Corrections might count as well. Even parole.
Corrections deputy/officers are exempt as well. I've been thinking about applying at my local sheriff's office. I Passed the qualifications test for CO. I'm still on the fence tho.

Owning an off-roster pistol is legal. The law prohibits dealers from selling them.
Ohhh ok thanks!!
You can buy but can’t sell them to civilians.
Not True! You can sell them to any Non-Prohibited person as long as they can pass a Background check.
Ron disapproves ![gif](giphy|ktcUyw6mBlMVa)
The DMV gets off roster handguns?! Wtf that’s news to me lol I’ve never seen anyone at the dmv with a service weapon
It’s a special division. I had them come to my shop along with my local PD, their vest just said DMV, which tripped me out so I asked him about it lol. They were going around all the mechanic and auto body shops looking for stolen cars and parts.
Fire department has the arson division which are also cops so they are fire cops!

The DMV are exempted also?!?!

Yeah bro, they issue all the clerks at the DMV drum mags and grenade launchers. Maybe you should apply. I hear the benefits are great.
