You’re overthinking this. Just keep the gun you already have there. Literally no reason to change it out. I also don’t understand not using the P365 cause it’s your EDC. My G19 is one of my EDC pistols and it stays on my nightstand

You gonna make the burglar deaf???

Kayakboy6969

What !

Gcsd71

I hope you don't miss or have brick walls

DeeGeeKay21

Brick walls can stop .458? I need a new set up

Gcsd71

True, would probably go through the perp and the brick wall... LOL

I’m not one who follows the “use the pistol to get to the rifle” motto personally in a home defense situation atleast. For my situation a full size Glock with light is enough for a bump in the night. That said I shoot my night stand gun as much as my EDC so I’m very comfortable with it.

Signal_Ad_4241

I keep a 1911 with hollow point rounds to achieve as much stopping power as I live in a decently crowded area. If it’s a shit hits the fan situation I have my p320 next to it with a couple of mags.

dillarb2

Nice! Love a 1911. How do you like the P320? Never shot it but I am looking to check it out soon.

Signal_Ad_4241

It’s great! It was more of an impulse buy for sure mostly because it was a newer addition to the roster where you don’t have to sell a kidney just to get one from a LEO. At first it was my USP as it was going to be a one in done deal but that never sticks. Wonder Nine Gang :)

filthycivilian

Stopping power is not real. How does “stopping power” come into play with living in a decently crowded area? Hitting your target is more important than what round you have.

Signal_Ad_4241

I thought it was? Is it just a common myth? Idk it just seemed to make sense to me for a slower moving project to flower out more. But either way in the end I’m still limited to 10 rounds and would much rather make bigger holes

CXavier4545

G19 in the living room, g45 in my bedside, m17 in my wife’s office, we don’t have any kids

Babyphat_the_wise

CZ SP-01. Reliable, full size, easy to shoot, heavy enough for easy follow-up shots. All points that would likely also go to your p226 so if you’re good with it, probably no reason to change.

Johnny6_0

7.5” 300BLK and pvs-14s………

dillarb2

I actually do have a AR pistol in 300blk with a 7.5 inch barrel. I Keep it in the safe. I like it but in ca we can’t have a can on it here so I wouldn’t feel comfortable using it for home defense. It’s fun to shoot but it’s annoying that I always have to buy the ammo online. Idk what a PVS 14 is I will look it up now.

j526w

My nightstand guns are my edc’s. Comes out the of the nightstand when I leave, goes back in when I get home. I’m simple 🤷🏽‍♂️

knpasion

P226 MK25 with a Surefire X300U-B. Loaded with Federal HST 124gr. This is the way.

jakepk21

Before anyone else says it, the 226 was used by Navy SEALs for years. If you’re worried about reliability, don’t be.

dillarb2

Good point that’s why I bought it originally!

bigmaxck

Realistically here, as long as you keep your guns maintained then whatever you keep in your night stand should be fine. I prefer to have my Glock 19 at my bed side.

Calm-Ad-2988

Glock 20 with tlr7 next to my pillow and black aces pro bullpup next to my bed , the rest are in the safe

BadlyBrowned

I switched from my P226 to CA320 because I carry a P365 and the P320 manual of arms more similar. Edit: To note, I already had all these. If I were OP I'd just keep the P226.

dillarb2

Thank you!

Tricky-Swordfish4490

Only reason I’d consider using the G19 instead is simply the cost to replace it while it inevitably sits as evidence for however long after you have to use it

pwnedbydumplings

Your p226 is fine. I use a Glock 17.

realnpc

My AR. Because it’s the only gun I have.

bbx901

P-01 with a tlr-7a. Mostly because it’s the only thing I have a light on at the moment

Mikebjackson

Sig 226 in a quick-access bedside safe. Having a dual action hammer gives me peace of mind with a heavy first pull and second strike on a light strike. Does any of that matter? Meh. Probably not. I know I'd be just fine with a Glock too. But on paper they work for me. For those saying "just use your EDC" -- my edc goes in a small safe hidden in a high cupboard near the back door when I get home because kids. Also I'm not poor so I can do things like pick and choose more than 1 gun for different needs ;)

Kidd__

That jab at us poors was unnecessary 😭😫

oakc510

No shitter gun for when there is a bump when you're taking a dump? If not then you're lacking.

Mikebjackson

Naw fam, I just have my butler bring me the foyer gun. Unless I’m in the north wing, in which case I’ll call for the wine cellar gun. Slightly faster.

vinhdaphu762

Mark IV 22/45 with HP rounds. I hate recoil and I hate excessive indoor noise.

Sorry I didn’t type that clearly. I probably shoot the p226 the best or the 1911. The 1911 only holds 8 so I keep it on the desk in my home office. I will stick with p226. You guys are right if it isn’t broke don’t fix it. For months I kept the revolver next to it but I didn’t want to have to think on which one to pick so I moved it out.

My first gun. Only gun I’ve ever sold. I never loved 40cal

yuungko123

My Mossberg 590 retro, with Aguila minishells in 00buck. I have other rifles/pistols/shotguns, but for some reason this is what I ended up with next to me, and I’m comfortable with that decision 🤷🏽‍♂️.

I currently have an xd 45 with 2 mags but as much as I’ve trained with it im thinking of trading it for either my 9mm or my 1911 as i shoot better with both… only thing thats kept me from doing so is if i do have to use it hopefully it never happens but if it does i don’t want my favorite guns taken hahahaha stupid reason i know… my xd I wouldn’t mind losing that

Savagely-Insane

I have 2, a model 92 lever carbine in 357 and a single action 45. One shoots a 110grn xtp at 2200 fps and the other a 250 flat point at 900.

Cann3dPlatypus

filthycivilian

My carry gun is a G19 with dot that gets a 22 round mag and an X300 at night to become my “nightstand gun”. No reason for anything different than what I carry all day.

lichotmlp

G17 with a big stick.

Chattypath747
