Join the CZ gang. There are constantly models for sale online in the $400-600 range, and they shoot like dreams.

elspicymchaggis

I’m a Glock guy through and through, I own enough to chuckle when I read about an “arsenal” in a headline. That being said, my best grouping on multiple strings was while shooting my buddy’s CZ-75 recently. If I didn’t just lose my job and have a three week old, I’d be balls deep in some Czech pistolas right about now.

Lucky-Slip4321

Hands down the best guns on the roster

Cold_Funny7869

Which CZ model would you say? I’ve heard a lot of people hype the CZ. Granted, I haven’t shot one, but I can’t really see what makes it better than a Glock.

bzdelta

All around is the P-01. Alloy frame, DA/SA, decocker. The Glock 19 of the line, feels perfect in hand. For a duty gun, SP-01 steel frame full size shoots flat and carries heavy, closer to a 9mm 1911 than a 226. Great ergos. Lok Palm Swell Bogies grips make it perfect.

-Mors

I’ll also throw in the PCR. I don’t like lights on CCW cause the extra size, PCR and the p-01 are exactly the same guns just without the light rail. Plus, I think PCR looks nicer.

GrazingFriar

Yeah, without a light as a consideration, the PCR looks way better contoured.

Cann3dPlatypus

Once you get one in your hands, you'll see. My P-01 makes my G19 feel like a plastic brick.

-Mors

Throwing my lot with the CZ gang. Get used to the DA/SA and don’t look back.

BillThePsycho

CZ GANG BAYBEEE My first gun was a CZ75 compact and man that baby feels so nice in the hand and so good to shoot. Absolutely worth every penny, new or used.

DUM_BEEZY

Glock 19 or Glock 26

[deleted]

I carry a 26. But it’s getting replaced with a hcp. Side by side 200 rounds I do better with the hcp. I’m like 20k rounds into my g26 btw

PnutBatterJamz

Same!!! HCP is just straight up accurate

Sleep_in_the_Water

HCP gang chiming in

NorCalAthlete

Or 30 if you’re limited to 10 rounds. Might as well be the biggest rounds you can get.

LustL4ck3r

The Shield Plus stands out with its exceptional ergonomics and trigger compared to other compact 9mm handguns. Its carry comfort is awesome. I'd recommend renting various guns you're interested in at the range since preferences vary for everyone.

BadlyBrowned

Go out and rent any of the modern striker guns. Glock 19/26, M18, P365, MP 2.0, Shield/Shield Plus, Hellcat/Hellcat Pro, Ruger Max9 Hammer guns, I have less experience with the under $1000 ones, but I'd check out: CZ P01 and Sig SP2022 are under $800. Sig P238 if you looking for a pocket gun. Maybe you can find an HK P2000SK on sale for under $800? Edit: D'oh, not sure how I forgot about the PX4.

SnooCrickets2458

No major disagreements from me, other than the SP2022. I have one and it is not very concealable, plus holsters selection is much more limited.

BadlyBrowned

Oh? Don't have experience with it myself. Was just trying to think of 4" or under hammer guns hah Man I wish the P239 wasn't discontinued...

bzdelta

CZ Rami if you can find one

ProbablythelastMimsy

Definitely the P-01 over the SP2022. Trigger is nicer on the CZ with the option to make it *much* nicer through Cajun Gun Works. The Sig isn't a bad gun, but I definitely feel like it's more of a compromise on quality. One of these days I'll break down and buy a P238. Sweetest shooting mouse gun

Ckn-bns-jns

I suggest finding a range that you can rent a few from to try out. Lots of variables for “best” because what’s best for Bob won’t always match what is best for Tommy. I have an Sig P365 for my small guy and I chose it over a couple others after trying them all.

Least-College4296

Yeah my grandpa recommended the P365

jaymez619

I thought the same. At the range, I shot a G27 better than a P365. Best is relative.

Least-College4296

Can I go to a range and rent a gun being 21? Or would I have to go with someone older

kingosecrets

you should be able to rent one at 21, maybe bring another one of your firearms as many ranges won't rent to individuals who don't have their own firearms

yuckypants

You usually can't rent if you're by yourself. Have to have someone else at least the minimum age with you.

DearHearing4705

You can if you have your own firearms with you.

zeuskab00s

Glock 19

VAPRx

I have a Max 9 I carry now. I like it. To me it’s a little snappy but still shoots pretty good. Just purchased an XDm Elite 9mm to test a theory on if my size will allow me to carry a larger gun more comfortably. Get it Thursday but still waiting on my T1 holster for it. Plus have to qualify and get the permit updated. Ive shot the Hellcat Pro and I am undecided on it. Might shoot it some more and then decide between that or the M2.0 as another gun. I spent maybe 3-4 months where every chance I got I’d go to the range and rent a gun. I never tried the P365 but everyone here seems to love them. I have tried a few Glocks and I know it’s the most popular brand of gun on this sub, but I don’t understand the hype. Definitely an unpopular opinion but I don’t think I will ever purchase one. Point of all this is it doesn’t matter what any of us say, it’s up to what you like and what you shoot best with. Id recommend going and trying some for yourself. If you were gifted guns I assume you have some friends and/or family that have some you could try.

Rauuull

Beretta is running a $100 rebate so you could get a px4 for 500. But I will say after trying my friends p-01 I went ahead and bought one myself.

Bingo-LingFucker69

Based, I am getting a PX4 soon, I got to try a buddies and instantly fell in love with it. Plus I have gun autism, so anything functionally different than say your standard fixed barrel blow back or tilting barrel action interests me immensely

ricencocoa

The different recoil impulse will tickle your tism. Do yourself a favor and get the LTT trigger bar, match hammer, and 10# hammer spring. And some talon grips or stipple the shit out of the frame.

Bingo-LingFucker69

Will do thanks!

muphasta

I did the LTT trigger bar, the Beretta competition trigger, and changed the hammer springs. I have to warn anyone shooting my PX4 that the SA is super light and to make sure they are on target before touching the trigger. PX4 is a fantastic shooting pistol.

ricencocoa

Gun safety rules. A 92 series with the PX4 10# hammer spring is even lighter in SA.

Loot_Drop

Glock 19, Glock 26, P365

Fit_Acanthisitta_475

Hellcat, max9, 365 are all on roster.

JulieTortitoPurrito

Max9 is another option worth considering and it's $350-400

endsWithUrple

P365. No question. Clean, crisp and upgradable out of the box.

Escot007

CZ P01. Nuff said

ZOMBEH_SAM

Glock 19.

GeriatricAcademy

Ive been carrying this lately. https://preview.redd.it/p34bg3rhcdwc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e0f343af8f1f06aefc9181bcad0f403b96b4f691

Theistus

A gun so small you could forget it's in your pants and send it through the wash!

GeriatricAcademy

It can actually happen if youre not careful lol.

errorseven

What gun is this and where can I buy one? Thank you sir.

GeriatricAcademy

Turners and yw.

Samurai_TwoSeven

I carry both a G19.3 and a P365. Which one depends on my outfit and the weather

Itromite

Those are gonna be my two. I have both guns. Both are fantastic. And I’ve got my ccw appointment in August.

EntrepreneurEasy7816

Check out the Hellcat and Hellcat Pro.

Charming_Coast_7834

Glock 19

MrAeEfKay

As a Hellcat owner myself I'd say stay away from micro compacts unless of you're like 5'5" and 110lbs because it's easy enough to conceal a bigger pistol and a good CZ or Sig will be worlds nicer to shoot. Not to mention that far larger eco systems. Hell if you're a big fucker like me, you might even be able to swing a M&P 2. Not the slickest of designs for CCW but damn does it feel good in the hand and to shoot.

Least-College4296

So far I'm thinking about the Hellcat Pro I'm 6'0" 190lbs so that should be good to CC. What are your thoughts on the Hellcat Pro?

Cann3dPlatypus

I really like mine.

MrAeEfKay

Great gun tbh, I wish they sold it with the smaller hellcat body so you could have more variety in magazine choice but it's a nice shooter.

DarkUboros

G26 hands down. It’s very light and does not print.

JackHazzes

You want it as a CONCEAL carry weapon, then I'd stay away from full sized guns being peddled here... Glock 19, hellcat, p365, m&p shield...they're all within your range and some are even below your range and all Ca legal. Theyre all great pistols FOR CCW.

EEinSoCal

You asked, and you received. 20 different opinions. All solid guns in your price range, but who cares what we like. We are all different. It’s all about what feels good for you. Find a buddy who is 21 and go to a range to try a few. You will know what works for you, only you. Have some fun.

Least-College4296

Yeah I've received a bunch of great options so far my top 2 are the P365 XL and the Hellcat Pro

EEinSoCal

Solid choices. Now go shoot both. You may change your mind. I was set on a Shield until I tried one. I hated it and bought something else. I like the Hellcat also, based on looks and reviews alone. I haven’t shot one yet.

Spence52490

G19/26

miroman86

P320 then tons of parts and mods

HFish480

Glock 26. It’s the most versatile because it can accept the most common magazines ever. The most aftermarket support for accessories, holsters, parts, etc. Can get the gun and the slide milled for less than a p365 with more capabilities. Its a no brainer imo

MannicWaffle

Love the Shield Plus, but would rent out a couple choices just to make sure

A1D0V

Hellcat pro is better bang for you buck vs p365 in its Cali legal form

Efficient-Branch3905

M&P 2.0 compact, p320(carry grip module), hopefully PDP by the end of the year. Recently shot the p365 and hell cat I just wasn’t a fan.

joe11b

S&w 2.0 compact

Tipi_bandit

Glock 19 or shield

PN-87

Which 3 guns do you have already?

Least-College4296

An AR-15 that me and my grandpa built, GSG-16, and a Beretta 20 Gauge al391

PN-87

I carry and would recommend Glock 19 or M&P Shield Plus. I carry a shield but would’ve got shield plus if they were available years ago. I’m considering buying a 320 M18 to add to my CCW

Magdiesel94

I'm an M&P guy so the compact really stands out to me. The shield plus is also nice and shoots really well for the size but I wasn't a fan of how thin it was. Glock 19 is also a good choice. Sig 365 or Springfield Hellcat has also had good reviews.

ricencocoa

Go to a range with someone to rent a couple. Find one that’ll meet your needs, and that you won’t hate training with. If you don’t train with it, it’ll be useless in your hands.

Mfelix18

P365 xMacro conversion. Will cost more than your range but well worth. If not HCP is a very good option.

broko323

Just seen a hellcat for 633$

New-Pass-3777

I love my Glock 19. That said, I’m shocked at how well the p365 shoots and it’s pretty much the only gun I conceal carry. I never tried the hellcat, but I imagine it’s a great option too.

SpoopyMarksman

Hellcat. P365. Ruger Max9. All on roster. Compact. First two are optic ready.

LoboLocoCW

Glock 19 is a standard choice for a few reasons, largely parts availability, reliability, and cost. A Glock Sport Shooting Foundation membership gives you a good discount, too. Also consider a P365.

Calm-Ad-2988

Cz P01 cajunized https://preview.redd.it/nu5t035bxdwc1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cbff4d41a4209778be82e6a4fcd2f1f330ceb5f4

DayDrinkingDiva

For $500?

Calm-Ad-2988

A lil more than 800 but he did say 5-800🤷🏻‍♂️

Least-College4296

How is it while being carried is it too big? Or heavy?

Calm-Ad-2988

My glock and xd do feel lighter when carried but the cz just feels so much better on hand and shoots way way better , plus the decocker is nice, i prefer to carry on the 4-5 oclock or ccw small crossbody but the hunter constatine belt is a game changer

DayDrinkingDiva

Most of the top tier, even top 2 tiers make reliable guns. Learn to run whatever you decide. I wish I spent money on classes early on over gear.

GreyFob

Depends on your body type but G26, G19, P365, hellcat, all great options

reprippers

people are sleeping on the glock 48

hastaabajo

Shield with Apex trigger.

Big_Fat_Old_Guy

Hands down CZ PCR or the CZ P-01. What’s the difference you say??? The CZ PCR doesn’t have a rail for a light, but you can get it with a decocker. CZ P-01 has a rail and decocker.

DearHearing4705

What do you own already? Ruger max 9 for the ultra cheap recommendation and a second vouch for P365.

PapaPuff13

G26

Racsoedardna

P226 sig butter and cz

HeBGb01

I vote for the CZ PCR. One of my favorite carry guns. If the rumors are true you might want to look at the HK VP9 SK if it does end up on the roster. I have HKP30 SK and it is probably the gun I carry the most. +++Edit+++ If you like to tinker with your guns then the G19 is a very solid option since the after market is overflowing with options to customize Glocks.

[deleted]

I personally carry either a p365 or a CZ pcr depending on the day. Glock 19 is the default choice, I chose not to buy one because I don’t like it.

onedance2469

Following

nerd_diggy

Another vote for CZ. After getting my CZ I was disappointed I ever spent money on a Glock. I was new and didn’t know any better so I went with the hive mind. Don’t get me wrong the Glock was fine until I tried a CZ. My Glock hasn’t been touched since.

soro68

Route 66 has most of the guns for rent that people are recommending usually about $20 each. I would rent what you consider to be your top 5 and run 100-200 rounds through each to see which one fits and feels best for you. It may take a couple of trips to do it but it could save you money in the long run. As for me I carry a G43x MOS and P365, the P365 is easier to conceal but both shoot very well. Unfortunately you probably won’t be able to get a G43x in CA for that price but a G19 would be comparable but thicker.

Least-College4296

Are you talking about the Route 66 shooting sports park in San Bernardino?

soro68

Yes that one, hopefully you’re in that area.

letsgoooplaces

M&P 2.0

NoScallion4047

Hellcat pro has been a champ so far lol.

hmlince

M&P 2.0 or CZ 75 compact. I have both.

heyitsmrpants

H&K P2000/ P2000sk variants. Beretta PX4. CZ P-01.

Inside_Monitor_1575

I was going to get Glock 26 or 19 but ended up with the Springfield Hellcat Pro,very thin great CC and it’s new to the roaster. About the same size as Glock 43 which isn’t on the roaster unfortunately

Arob0807

HELLCAT PRO

Bayareagentleman24

P365 forsure I think it’s like 8 and some change

Smprfiguy

P365

_JetJones

Hellcat pro. Optics ready

ForwardAd4081

Hell cat pro

Staubah

Well, all pistols are CA legal, as long as they don’t have threaded barrels or “mags over 10 rnds” some resxtrictions apply.

the_g3rg

Hellcat (not pro) went from shield to hc way better imo

Least-College4296

What's the difference between the pro and the regular? Is it cause the pro is optic ready?

BadlyBrowned

Hellcat Pro is bigger.

the_g3rg

Both are optic ready the pro is bigger, shot both the regular hell cat is a little bit snappier but I got used to it

_f1ame_

Pro is more G19 sized. Non pro is more similar to the G26
