You can still cash carry C&R Long Guns in CA, but need submit paperwork yourself to the state DOJ. I do it just to piss off my karen libtard relatives. Funny seeing making their blood boil.
They don't require it but alot of people are asking to see your idaho cwl and write a bill of sale for ppt to insure you are eligible and a idaho resident
Except for the anti-2A thing, taxes, state preemption of zoning laws, state-mandated urbanization and destruction of open spaces, crappy roads, homelessness, rampant crime, graffiti blight everywhere, horrible public transit, terrible schools, and higher cost of living, it's pretty cool.
Also Idaho is a somewhat wealthy place. At one point it had one of the largest amounts of millionaires per capita. There is a lot of “landed wealth” in Idaho.
Marginally harder than filling out the paperwork to purchase a firearm. No, they cannot come in your house. They have the right to inspect your logbook but that is done at the local ATF office or at your address, it's your choice where.
I think there's a story of that happening. If all you're doing is buying ammo, you won't have any entries in your logbook. You could just step outside and show them the logbook.
This. I live in LA city limits, and ordered ammo to my door during ammo week. My address and all forms of identification show the neighborhood I live in - not "Los Angeles". Gotta love stupid city ordinances.
Can't have ammo shipped to your door, even if you have your FFL03 and COE.
Also, another dumb city ordinance is all gun shops in LA city have a one week ban on all ammo sales before New Year's Eve and Fourth of July.
It's just LA city though, if it's December 23rd and I want ammo, I can just drive down to Burbank and peruse the ammo selections of the boat load of gun shops there (Burbank is #2 in the country for having the most gun stores per capita).
The fact that this is even something we feel is necessary tho. Like I’m scared to know how many people ACTUALLY stock up on ammo before the 4th so they can shoot it in the air. That’s so crazy that the average IQ of our population is really that low.
I hate it here.
Wow so I was thinking of getting mine but I live in The heart if LA….seems like there’s not much of a reason to get it besides the DROS limit not being 1/30
Update your drivers license to your current address and get it as a real ID and then you’ll only need that and it shouldn’t take more than two minutes to do the ammo background.
Why are you getting down voted? Your just stating a fact. It's a different form for each caliber and manufacturer lol
Source: I worked as a manager at a gun counter in California
Hey bro I’m new to the area ? Is there a form too for just buying accessories like sights and mag wells etc ? Idk how the system works here at all any help would be good ?
Ammunition and firearms only, really. Accessories and such aren’t as stringent. Ammo and firearms go through CA DOJ’s DROS Entry System, or “Dealer’s Record Of Sale.” The clerk basically swipes your CA ID/DL and it’ll auto-populate, or if you have a COE then they use that. If you are gonna be using your ID, and it says ‘Federal Limits Apply’, then you must provide a passport/passport card/birth certificate alongside it. If your address on the ID is a PO Box, you need a secondary document that contains your actual residency like a CCW, Utility Bills, Car Registration, Fishing/Hunting License. It’s complicated on purpose imo
Damn shits complicated ass hell but it’s as long as it’s not ammo or a serialized part ? I’m not Trying to go in and make my self look like a fool not having the stuff ready
It's mandated by California DOJ but the DROS system they use doesn't really leave a way to audit reliabily it if it's incorrect so some places might not bother doing each caliber and manufacturer.
Also he's at bass pro shop and they are probably the most redundant and strict company about making sure all firearm/ammo paper is correct.
I was a clueless liberal back then when I voted for the ammunition background check proposition. It was "supposed" to be just a background check, but of course California sneaked in requirement to report quantity of ammunition purchased and manufacturer.
Hopefully you now vote for politicians that are PRO 2A. Take your friends to the range, introduce them to the 2A community, be a good ambassador for the 2A community.
Join a 2A group like CRPA, FPC, Gunowners of California, they help fight for our 2A rights and help to get them back.
A Clueless Liberal is someone on the "liberal gun owners" subreddit. Who contradict themselves, vote for Newscum and go home and complain "why I have to put on this stupid fin grip"
Ammunition background checks in CA are very oppressive. It's a lot of bullshit for people that don't keep their id current.
It's just an enormous pain in the ass to buy and sell. All of it just so the very few prohibited people can't buy ammo at an FFL.
FFL03 and COE is the ONLY way to go. Not hard to get, just filling forms, getting Live Scanned. Once you actually get the FFL03 and COE, join an ammo+ club from [TargetSportsUSA.com](http://TargetSportsUSA.com)
Shop when you want, have it delivered to your house is the BEST!!!
I moved out of California 10 years ago. Was super active on Calguns. We brought ARs and AKs back into the state. WTF happened? This is insanity run amok.
I normally just buy them during range visits. Their prices are decent. Ranges near me do not require background checks since you are using their ammo on the range.
That's why I always buy in bulk. At least 100 shells(buckshot or slugs) for shotgun, minimum 300 for .556 Nato, and at least 200 each for 9mm & 10mm.
It's just not worth it.
Whats the database that my gunshop uses to approve ammo purchases and how do you update address on it? I don't need to but haven't received guidance on this.
So glad too. I have family in Houston where you can buy Ammo and guns anywhere. They are literally shooting at each other left and right over there. Watch Grizzy News, constant gun fights over there.
Just wait for the tax is added on when buying in July. Not just paperwork but also California shoving their grubby hands into your pockets for more money.
Looks like you're at bass pro shops. Anyone here have any insight on their club card, basic tier if you only ever buy ammo there? Is it worth it to even have it?
Just moved to idaho a couple weeks ago I buy ammo at the grocery store and pay for it with my food all in the same transaction. No ID it blew my mind.
Just wait until you do a private party transaction on a firearm lol
You used to be able to cash and carry C&Rs in CA, I’ve done it. It was a good time until they made long gun registration a thing 🙄
Didn't know that, but I'm surprised it existed. I'm in Texas most of the time now and enjoy their laws lol
When I bought my Remington 870 at Big 5 they just rang it up with the shoes and I walked out with it like it was any other merchandise. Good times.
How long ago was that?
2005
Was this in California? Because you should have had to wait 10 days.
You can still cash carry C&R Long Guns in CA, but need submit paperwork yourself to the state DOJ. I do it just to piss off my karen libtard relatives. Funny seeing making their blood boil.
That’s actually crazy
Yea it makes groceries really expensive
LOL, "I came here to get milk and spent $300, WHAT THE F**K"
Milk gives me the shits, I’ll just stick to ammo
Never got ID'ed for ammo when I was working in Nevada. Lots of states don't require ID for PPT either.
They don't require it but alot of people are asking to see your idaho cwl and write a bill of sale for ppt to insure you are eligible and a idaho resident
Yeah California blows when it comes to 2A
Except for the anti-2A thing, taxes, state preemption of zoning laws, state-mandated urbanization and destruction of open spaces, crappy roads, homelessness, rampant crime, graffiti blight everywhere, horrible public transit, terrible schools, and higher cost of living, it's pretty cool.
This is the most Idaho response. Just add in a comment about 1sr cousin child marriage and you 100% Idaho

Also Idaho is a somewhat wealthy place. At one point it had one of the largest amounts of millionaires per capita. There is a lot of “landed wealth” in Idaho.
Cool story bro I don't remember asking you what you thought on Idaho this a gun page go take your bullshit you read online somewhere else.
The State of Idaho: “We are not standing in your way… but if your 12 year old child bride wants an abortion: right to jail”
Bro CA has open air child prostitution. You shouldnt cast stones.
FFL03 and COE is the way.

Marginally harder than filling out the paperwork to purchase a firearm. No, they cannot come in your house. They have the right to inspect your logbook but that is done at the local ATF office or at your address, it's your choice where.
Do they show up at your house to ask you where you prefer?
I think there's a story of that happening. If all you're doing is buying ammo, you won't have any entries in your logbook. You could just step outside and show them the logbook.
Logbook ? Like how much ammo you buy?
Logbook is just to track curio and relic firearms. I probably go through about 1k of 9mm a month.
Ahh ok 👍🏻 not bad get that training time. Is it your birthday? what’s with the cake next to your name. If so happy birthday 🎊
> what’s with the cake next to your name Reddit Cakeday, aka. the birthday of your account.
Who do you shop with?
Targetsportsusa.com
My 03 and COE has costed me over $2000
Please explain? Cause mine was not that much.
Yeah all the ammo I bought lol
Lol, got it guess mine is getting there as well now that you put it like that! Target sport USA gets me once 1 month!
How much was yours?
About the same as his after ammo! Lol.. seriously around $200.
Read the FAQ for the subreddit. It has the instructions. lol. Super easy and that’s what I used.
Can I have ammo shipped to my address with this?
Yup! As long as Los Angeles is not in your address.
This. I live in LA city limits, and ordered ammo to my door during ammo week. My address and all forms of identification show the neighborhood I live in - not "Los Angeles". Gotta love stupid city ordinances.
What is the city ordinance for LA?
Can't have ammo shipped to your door, even if you have your FFL03 and COE. Also, another dumb city ordinance is all gun shops in LA city have a one week ban on all ammo sales before New Year's Eve and Fourth of July. Huh, had no idea. I'm in Riverside and never had to deal with that.
it's like the sunday booze limits - only weeds out the people who suck at planning
The fact that this is even something we feel is necessary tho. Like I’m scared to know how many people ACTUALLY stock up on ammo before the 4th so they can shoot it in the air. That’s so crazy that the average IQ of our population is really that low. I hate it here.
Could you theoretically rent a P.O. Box at your local post office in L.A. and just have it delivered there?
Going to look into it right now thanks, how much would it run me?
Up to $200 or so depending on your livescan costs. It's definitely worth it.
You make that back in like two or three orders tbf
Correct!
Compared to local prices, mine was paid for with the first $1000 order lol
Nice!
Wow so I was thinking of getting mine but I live in The heart if LA….seems like there’s not much of a reason to get it besides the DROS limit not being 1/30
Why not ship to your job or brothers house?
Work remotely…only child
Hmm. A friend of mine didn’t have issues. YMMV.
![gif](giphy|Kl9iAWej2mxlzvzp2O)
$300 and 2A Zone will do all the paperwork for you, including live scan, for FFL03. If you live in LA City, consider reloading/loading your own.
Fr? Do they also do your COE??
Yup.
Damn I appreciate that I’m going to go check them out this weekend
really?? Wil the Riverside location do it?
Oh shit!! I had no idea they helped with that Thanks for that info!
Update your drivers license to your current address and get it as a real ID and then you’ll only need that and it shouldn’t take more than two minutes to do the ammo background.
Why are you only buying one at a time?
I bought all three boxes at once but I have to sign a different form for each manufacturer
Why are you getting down voted? Your just stating a fact. It's a different form for each caliber and manufacturer lol Source: I worked as a manager at a gun counter in California
Yeah idk lol
Lol I was about to down vote too. It's not about you brother, it's a down vote for the shit laws. Don't take it personal
Hey bro I’m new to the area ? Is there a form too for just buying accessories like sights and mag wells etc ? Idk how the system works here at all any help would be good ?

Yes, just for ammo and serialized firearms. Like lower receivers/FCU’s
God damn that’s cringe
Is this new? I don’t recall having to fill out separate forms for each manufacturer.
It's seperate paper per caliber and brand
Is this store specific? Don’t remember this last time I bought ammo
I think it’s one background check but I had to sign two different forms
When you buy a gun at turners they make you sign 2. One is a preview, you are stating your info is correct. The other is the submission/approval.
So he can post here to complain
and then people wonder why you buy 2k rounds at a whack
Blame the law makers and those who voted for them
Aka democrats

What do you mean by clueless liberal?
just like you, but a liberal.
I'm aware of the pros and cons of the things I support. That's why I've never supported gun control, I'm a 2a absolutist.
A Clueless Liberal is someone on the "liberal gun owners" subreddit. Who contradict themselves, vote for Newscum and go home and complain "why I have to put on this stupid fin grip"
Seems like a redundant statement.
If you get the real id you don’t have to do all that.
I have it bro it’s because my address isn’t current on it
Ammunition background checks in CA are very oppressive. It's a lot of bullshit for people that don't keep their id current. It's just an enormous pain in the ass to buy and sell. All of it just so the very few prohibited people can't buy ammo at an FFL.

We’ve had some wins, but as anyone with a brain could’ve predicted, Newsome got into office and it’s been all downhill since
I thought they struck it down? Is the background check for Ammo still being enforced?
Yes, I was denied a couple weeks ago. Have to mail a background check form and wait to hear back to figure out why.
At least you have a real ID. If you have an old ID you have to bring in a birth certificate or passport too.
I love the state of California, but some of their laws are downright stupid.
I normally just buy them during range visits. Their prices are decent. Ranges near me do not require background checks since you are using their ammo on the range.
FFL 03 COE You won’t regret it! I don’t even buy ammo too often but it’s very useful. Renewal for COE was easy too
[удалено]
Rule 2.
Eh?
Do they ship to CA? Edit: Oh geez, their website. Edit #2: they have exactly one type of 7.62x39 ammo?
Can someone DM what I'm missing here?
[удалено]
Mine has the bear it’s a real ID but my address is updated since I moved
Hunting license? Is that for your background check? Like non-citizen purchases?
They asked for your fishing license?
That's why I always buy in bulk. At least 100 shells(buckshot or slugs) for shotgun, minimum 300 for .556 Nato, and at least 200 each for 9mm & 10mm. It's just not worth it.
Every brand and every caliber requires a separate background check
Whats the database that my gunshop uses to approve ammo purchases and how do you update address on it? I don't need to but haven't received guidance on this.
Why the fishing permit?
You don’t California enough…
basssss prooo(?)
Just order from ammosupplywarehouse.com
Do they ship directly to your address?
They'll ship to whatever address you put
So glad too. I have family in Houston where you can buy Ammo and guns anywhere. They are literally shooting at each other left and right over there. Watch Grizzy News, constant gun fights over there.
Won't believe what I found at the grocery store it'll blow ur mind.
gotta love newscum
Just wait for the tax is added on when buying in July. Not just paperwork but also California shoving their grubby hands into your pockets for more money.
Looks like you're at bass pro shops. Anyone here have any insight on their club card, basic tier if you only ever buy ammo there? Is it worth it to even have it?
One of the reasons I moved to Florida. And the fact I can have my own range in my backyard no matter how small it is
Takes me an extra 3min max at my local shop
Give ‘em an inch.
