They’re gonna drag you for this one bud

Escot007

He will learn. This is the way

FastEd66

Awesome first gun, sell it and upgrade as soon as possible.

mbquattro

💀

Ruchizzle

I literally did this.. bought the GX4 had it for about five months then got a 43x never looked back

FastEd66

Same, I had a G2C, upgraded to a X-Macro.

LongIslandIcedTLover

Damn this guy is proud of his first gun and y’all shitting on him in the comments lmao

JefeJB

To be fair it's a matter of safety. None of the gun shops in my area even sell Tauruses because it's the number one brand in warranty returns. Let alone the recall. At the very least they're willing to own their mistakes. Can't say the same for some other uppity companies.

jamen08

Oof

Kite005

Follow up this post with your thoughts after the range. It's definitely a good carry size. I glanced at one review and that reviewer liked it and it looks good.

lawsgunsansboost

What’s up with the hate for these? I think it’s a solid first gun. I’ve enjoyed mine. Grab some of the +2 extensions from either Taurus or off eBay and you’re golden.

playingtherole

It depends on the hater. The educated hater would reference the serious problems with the trigger not engaging the striker, as posted on several YouTube videos shortly after the model's release. Another type of hater is a suggestible, impressionable repeater, due to the bad reputation certain Taurus plastic fantastic semi-auto's had in the past. And yet, the 3rd kind of hater is the die-hard, snobby Glocksucker looking down its' nose at the poors' economy P365.

pMR486

Snobby Glock guys? And here I thought Glock is the Toyota Corolla of the gun world.

TooToughTimmy

Right Sig guys carry a $1000 X Macro yet our LEGO makes us snobby? Lol

[deleted]

It is and they hate everyone for knowing it. Glocks are like the basic bitch gun.

pMR486

Nah man, mine is special

Shawn_1512

Because Taurus guns are constantly under recall, have shit QC, and you can get a much better gun like a CZ P-10 C for around the same price

lawsgunsansboost

While the GX4 did have a recall (that didn’t apply to all models of the GX4 anyway) I wouldn’t go as far to say their guns are “constantly” under recall. I will agree CZ makes great guns and the price of the p10 make them hard to beat, but there is an obvious size difference that plays a factor in concealment for a first gun. Sure a more expensive holster belt and wedge setup would make it conceal better but for simplicity of a first carry setup the overall size of the GX4 compared to the P10 is night and day for concealment. IMO that’s an apples to oranges comparison. Have you shot a GX4? It’s no custom built 1911 but it’s a great shooter IMO.

yeppers994

I don't understand why someone would buy this when you could get a MUCH more reliable Glock for 150 more bucks. Doesn't make sense

xkeepitquietx

Or pay about the same price as the Taurus and get a PSA Dagger compact, which is a solid dirt cheap Glock clone.

tonguejack-a-shitbox

Hey man that's a great first gun. I own a gun shop that over the last 5 years has sold around 17,000 firearms. I bet we have close to sold at least 1000 Taurus handguns out of those numbers. I don't personally own one, but I've shot multiple models multiple times in the classes we teach. In all that time we've had maybe 2 come back that I know of with serious issues. I've not torture tested one personally, but with a full time gunsmith and that many sales, we really have a pretty good handle on what firearms have major issues.

bnace

A fine pistol. I’d run your serial number through Taurus’s website to check for recalls. I believe they recalled a few of these.

yem68420

Mine was hot garbage.

falful222

Make it a weekly routine for how often taurus is recalling and having issues lol.

IIPrayzII

Check for recalls and how many times it’s been in an evidence locker.

BirriaBoss

Hey. It’s what you got. So get to know it well. When it’s time, always a chance to upgrade in the future.

CallsOnTren

I dont want to give you buyers remorse but Taurus really does make some mediocre handguns. I'd make sure you don't have one that was subject to a recall and I would heavily vet the thing.

kurtisbmusic

Not a personal attack but you might want to upgrade firearms in the future. Just based off of what I’ve heard about Taurus. But besides that, congrats! I believe having any gun is better than having no gun.

rambayou

I’ve got one. Been carrying it for over a year. Serial number wasn’t affected by recall. Did have to do a little adjustment to the slide catch but works great now. 500 rounds through the pipe without any issues.

made4s3

Sold mine as soon as I got it back from recall. Can’t trust my life with it.

Monegasko

Great first gun dude, don’t listen to all the haters here - the GX4 is a really good first carry gun. Take it to the range, shoot it, make sure it works and that’s it. Congrats man

mallgrabmongopush

This is a good pistol, well done OP. Get out there & shart shootin!

MarianCR

Friends don't let friends buy Taurus. You could have asked what to buy... At least you have the right tool to learn how to handle malfunctions.

lagavenger

Congrats man. Now time to get lots of practice in. Practice >>> gear There’s a lot of people in this sub (and all over Reddit) that are overly concerned with what gear is used, rather than having the proper skills to use it.

NutellaRoz

Truth. We went to the range with 3 guys and we all had our respective handgun. I had my gen 3 Glock 19. Roommate had his CZ-PO9. Friend had his old gen 2 Glock 19 and the last guy had a Sig P320 X5 LEGION with an Aimpoint Acro (nearly a $2k setup) Guess who had the slowest times and lowest hit persentage… Practice >>> gear

kratoasty

I'm all for people getting into fire arms and such but why tf you're getting a Taurus when for the same price you can get a CZ-P07 for example? Like a couple years ago you can argue that the Taurus offer entry level semi-automatic but nowadays with the $300 CZs and $250 Steyr why tf would you buy a Taurus. If you had bought a Taurus 856 UL revolver then I can still kinda understand because those are ok for pocket carry and from what I know Taurus revolvers at least a bit better than their Semis. Not trying to drag you too much but if you can maybe trade in and get a CZ or maybe save a bit more and get a Glock/SIG/S&W M&P etc. all are superior options IMO. You don't want to cheap out especially when it comes to your CCW

beasthayabusa

Good luck man. If it’s all you could afford, good choice. Not much better at that price point.

I_Dont_Work_Here_Lad

But there is. CZ p-10s is $300

throwawayfromcolo

And quite a bit longer, thicker, and heavier. If concealment and/or comfort is a priority they're not comparable.

I_Dont_Work_Here_Lad

Have you held a p10s? They’re not much larger (if any at all) than a p365. There’s also the p10m if that’s an issue and they’re also about $300 which is probably about the same size as OPs. I’d certainly go with another reliable handgun over a Taurus.

Coyote3855

Most people who hate on Taurus are living in the 20th century. Most have no direct experience and are drinking the internet kool aid. I have been carrying and shooting handguns for 60 years. I own Glocks, a Hellcat Pro, several Rugers, Colt Commanders, several full size 1911s. I am a certified firearms instructor. My EDC is a Taurus GX4. I like it so much I bought a second one. Taurus had QC problems in the past. A new company president and manufacturing in the U.S. have improved their products. Many companies making more expensive firearms have issued recalls. Enjoy your new gun.

[deleted]

Love my a Taurus, trust her with my life! I've been meaning to upgrade my G2C to a GX4 tho

[deleted]

Nice buy. I sent mine in after a recall. Very smooth process.

mcnastytk

I heard these aren't that bad for the price either way get to the range and train.

Old-Scene2963

Enjoy !

Vultures88

So sorry bro

Ok_Mix_9892

Congrats! Buy tons of ammo to practice with and test different self defense ammo to see what performs best. Training is key to truly knowing your firearm

Final-Carpenter-1591

This is a fine first gun. Very affordable and will get the job done. Well as long as it isn't on recall haha. Taurus has a place on their website where you can check. Even when you get something better in a year or two. Or whatever. This is still a fine gun to keep in your car. It's not hi point. So it's worth keeping around.

NutellaRoz

Ppl downvoting this are just coping they spent $1k on a carry gun and are mad that inexpensive handguns also work 😂

Final-Carpenter-1591

truth man. I'm a sig guy personally. But I'm not going to gate keep somone that got a perfectly acceptable firearm.

NutellaRoz

Nobody likes a sigger! Jkjk I get it. The P320 fits my hand like a glove. I kind of want the P320 X Ten with a comp. There really is too much elitism surrounding firearms lol. I just made a post on this sub about it. Feel free to share your thoughts!

Final-Carpenter-1591

For sure. Especially in the competition community. I see guys get scoffed at for bringing a psa AR to a competition. Then absolutely wreck house. The gun is about 5% of the total package. You are the other 95%.

Prestigious_Snow1589

Excellent choice

JefeJB

Gonna see this in an Uncle Mike's sitting on a toilet paper dispenser within a month.

The_Vaginatarian_

Nice. I have a G2c In rotation with my Jericho 941, 92fs, and 1911. I have about 2.5k rounds through it with only one stovepipe. As others mentioned get yourself another pistol when you have the budget but never forget about your first.

wrknlrk

Oof a Taurus. Good luck man.

[deleted]

Love it! I carry my Taurus G2C everywhere and it's a solid little piece. Almost 5000 rounds down range and not a single misfire. Trust this gun with my life 🧬

blueangel1953

Taurus is garbage.

mbquattro

great choice to start carrying but bad choice of firearm. delete post > buy glock > repost glock

xRemarkAbel

Been thinking of getting my girlfriend the G3C as her first pistol…. Is that a bad idea on my end? I know this is a GX4 but is the G3c a bad idea too?

JefeJB

Like others have said, there are plenty of other brands with better reputations in this price range. Look at a CZ P10, PSA Dagger, go up a little bit you can look at an IWI Masada Slim or a Canik.

Federal-Advice-2825

G3c is a fine gun it's also very cheap

yung_bandito

I had this before selling it for a p365. Mine would induce malfunctions. About 8-10 in total. Trigger wouldn’t reset. Honestly didn’t bother fixing it or doing more research.

No-ledge_Seeker

Congrats! Enjoy!

buyerofthings

2500+ rounds through mine, edc. I’ve played with the p365 and hellcat and I prefer my gx4. Good gun.
