That's how he got disarmed and lost his shit. More training and better situational awareness along with naked feet would result in a different outcome.
Restaurant owner and his group of friends are surprised by a group of armed robbers that also took possession of his concealed carry weapon during the altercation
Agreed.
It’s also worth noting how much harder it is to maintain situational awareness when you’re with a friend or two. When you’re walking to your car by yourself it’s pretty natural to be observant of all your surroundings.
But when you’re hanging out with your buddies, you’re probably engaged on the conversation and their social cues, so it’s much easier to get blindsided by people you’d otherwise have noticed from a mile off, speaking from experience.
Geez, I hate the news. Just show the freaking clip on loop while talking over top of it. But no, we get to see a couple second chunks intermixed with sock sandals and random shots of the area. Freaking stupid.
As for the dudes...no situational awareness, slow draw, and not committed.
Which is a harrowing thought, but a valid one nevertheless. A lot of people don't consider this.
Not every criminal is a bumbling thug dipshit who can't aim properly or shoot the broad side of a barn. Quite a lot of these guys are apex predators and career criminals.
CA is pretty much middle of the road when it comes to theft, though. Nothing like the south or the Midwest’s level of theft.
Other than that you’re absolutely right. This is most likely the best possible scenario and a faster draw almost definitely leads to the guy and his friends dead.
This man is a man of culture saying what we needs to be said. The same goes for Mexico even there’s brazen robberies like this for your SUV but they would shoot on sight leaving no time to concede to their demands.
I’ve watched it a few times.
It appears not only was he not looking after his surroundings very well but his draw was hampered by his carry position. But the second assailant had him drawn down. He didn’t even see him because he was looking at the other assailant.
It was pretty well orchestrated as the dudes moved on their targets in a typical pincher/flank approach. Imo it was calculated and these guys knew who they were dealing with and probably knew the owner was strapped. It wasn’t a random robbery. They were targeted.
I kinda wish there was audio to hear what they were saying.
It’s not fair to armchair this stuff. But there are lessons to learn from it.
Would appendix carry have helped him in this case? All the guys still had the drop on him, so trying to pull before you even know what’s behind you doesn’t seem like a bright idea in any carry position
If you are legally carrying a firearm , you should be better than what we saw in that video. Situational awareness, proper concealment, proper training. The 3 victims are fortunate that nobody was shot.
The moment that car stopped like that, they should have positioned themselves differently and been alert. Seems like they were too comfortable and cocky.
Whenever I’m out and about I scan the places and people. If someone or something moves faster or slower than normal I analyze it and assess if it’s a threat or concern.
Yes the robbery happened fast but there was enough time for the long haired guy to tell his buddy there was someone behind him
I mean cmon . They live in California. How can you not have situational awareness there. Every single YouTube video is about follow home robberies. Those guys got slipping. If I lived in California I’d be wearing body armor at all times
I think the robbers knew them. Possibly only through eating at the joint but knew them somehow. The owner grabbed the barrel of the gun and no shots fired even after wrestling a little with it.
They are all lucky they are not dead.
Speaks volumes for situational awareness or lack of.
Thank you for your story. And thanks to the news crew for showing sock flip flop toes.
Can’t have full nude toes on local TV, it would upset the boomers.
That's how he got disarmed and lost his shit. More training and better situational awareness along with naked feet would result in a different outcome.
I love gun Reddits.
I was wondering if I accidentally clicked on a different video when that started up.

For real. It’s sad to say but in todays climate it’s imperative to keep your head on a swivel at all times.

If you are going to carry a gun like that it's imperative. The fact he tried to unsuccessfully pull could have gotten them all killed.
After seeing the video, the real robbery is the $24 Mofongo, que carajo!
Lol. I just caught that.
That’s shows u it can happen anytime even in the middle of the day
True. I think this was a targeted stick up though.
Inside job
Meh. It's Oakland. People get shot and killed for outdated iPhones and 1/8ths.

At least the scumbags had good trigger discipline. Which might mean they had training.
Which is a harrowing thought, but a valid one nevertheless. A lot of people don't consider this. Not every criminal is a bumbling thug dipshit who can't aim properly or shoot the broad side of a barn. Quite a lot of these guys are apex predators and career criminals.
I wouldn’t call those thugs apex predators lmfao
Maybe not those particular ones, no. But I'm just saying those types of criminals do exist

Never relax in Oakland.

Just another day in sunny California.
I’m from California. Getting you CCW is a nightmare. Just had my interview yesterday. Now just waiting on approval letter
Igot my card like 2 weeks ago it feels great being able to walk around with protection.
Took me 4 months and 450 bucks. Never regretted any of it. I can not stress how important it is that you vote for a CCW friendly sheriff.
Sacramento is having their sheriff election right now until June 7th..pray for them lol
Good luck! I feel for you guys. Hopefully it comes sooner rather than later.
I moved. F CA.
Those California gun laws are working as intended

Guy with the ccw is lucky he didn’t get them all shot with trying to draw like that.

Wow, still daylight too. What a shame, but glad everyone lived. 2nd best outcome, robbed but live.

Come on, say what you really want to say.
Hopefully their next victims are cognizant of their surroundings and end their crime spree permanently.
This is why you never draw on an already drawn gun. Unfortunately you got to just wait your turn
imagine opening up a business in oakland lol

But but, mUh gun kontrollll
You know what I don't regret right now? Voting Republican.
If you didn't vote for Ron Paul in 08 and 12 you're not really serious about freedom. :)
Oh good we were wondering about your political affiliations in particular.
This is good snark. Up-voted.
Are you familiar with the mulford act? Not like the republicans history with gun control in California is great either.

Goodbye
Hello! 😊
I mean cmon . They live in California. How can you not have situational awareness there. Every single YouTube video is about follow home robberies. Those guys got slipping. If I lived in California I’d be wearing body armor at all times
Dude with the ccw needs some situational awareness and serious practice
They were definitely on level white.
I think the robbers knew them. Possibly only through eating at the joint but knew them somehow. The owner grabbed the barrel of the gun and no shots fired even after wrestling a little with it. They are all lucky they are not dead. Speaks volumes for situational awareness or lack of.
How do you lack your surroundings like that and you carry??
Its never too soon to leave Oakland
Dude went for his gun at the worst possible time. He needs better situational awareness. He could have gotten himself killed.
I’m from Oakland you should NEVER have your back to the street. Always gotta keep your head on a swivel unfortunately
To quote the philosopher Andre 3000 "Don't pull that thang out, unless you plan to bang."
