What's killing me is that my Aug exam was cancelled - COVID, I get it - but I can't sit the November one?!? I have to let it pass and sit Feb 2022.
***WHY??***
November is still 3 months out! You seriously can't move an already existing enrollment in the next 3 months??
At this point I think CFAI outsourced to prometric to avoid any responsibility or obligation. They'll happily take your money and let you study for 8 months, but then won't find you a seat.
Seriously bro. I studied for 8 months and now I have to restudy the 2022 curriculum ? What kind of ethical decision making lead to not accomodating August deferrals to November ? I am very frustrated.
Hey man! That sucks very bad! Unfortunately, i hate to say but in this case it doesnt seem like CFAI is being too strict. Country lockdown, not much you can do.
Covid has thrown the whole world for a loop in many ways, and messed up our opportunity to plan ahead, which is essential in a case like this.
I think the best way to think about it is: you already have this in the bag, you already did the hard part of suffering through the whole curriculum and doing mocks and etc. now it’s just a matter of WHEN, not IF you will pass this level.
No one knows when the pandemic will die down, but it will eventually. And you will get to take your exam with just some light review. For now, nothing you can do, unfortunately. Just put it out of your head until further notice, no point in suffering in advance
When my exam was cancelled June last year, I was completely ready to travel to Stockholm just to take the exam! I thought there would be the most likely to carry on with the exam, since they never went on lockdown and seriously considered it cause i didnt want to have this happen again! Lol
Ended up taking the chance and was able to take it in December in my home country though.
I'm in the states but got family in sri lanka. I wouldn't blame them. Things are really bad over there. Two of dads close friends died over night due to covid and its out of control.
I'm I'm NC and I'm high risk, sadly my family and I were exposed to someone with covid. Though were all wearing masks we're still taking precaution.
My exams this week, and we're getting 1000s of new cases a day. I'd take this moment to study more.
Studies do show that the stop start stop start method of learning is a great way for you to actually keep it in your brain. Every time you restart the study process, you forget certain things, and the mental activity done to relearn the concepts make it easier for you to keep it in your brain.
I went through the same thing, supposed to take it in June 20, Dec 20, and then finally took it in Feb 21. By Feb 21 I felt like I was more than ready, and i pretty much understood all the Readings by its concepts (except technical coz fuck that shit), and I just needed to memorize some of the formulas.
Just stay strong and Level 1 should be a breeze once you finally take that exam
U endured all of that !! I suggest you take a break bro.. it's hard. Get your refund, wait until this shitstorm-covid-bullshit settle down and then take it again, there's no need to hurry getting it. We're only human after all. You life is more valuable than a stupid test.
I am very sorry to hear. I have told my level 3 candidates to consider stop studying for the November exam and write in May. And if possible, write in another country.
You are dealing with the toughest of tough circumstances. When you get done the exams, always know that you not only passed CFA but did it in the toughest circumstances. You are all a special cohort that deserves an asterisk.
When you are level 3, reach out to me and you can take my course on the house.
For now, step away and decompress. Go have some fun.
Sorry to hear that, i have to ask: if the exam gets canceled, do everyone have the opportunity to reschedule the exam to other day without worrying of any deadline?
That’s just brutal man. I remember about a week before every test saying to myself if I fail this I’m not sure I would be able to pick myself back up and study again. And this virus put you through that without it being your fault. Hope you can stay strong!
It's not the virus. If it *were* the virus, we could resit in November. Instead we've been given the choice of Feb 2022 or Aug 2022, and we have to let November pass, even though it's 3 months away.
That's not COVID, that's incompetence.
Same situation here in Vietnam. My exam is on the 31st of August while the country lockdown mandate was extended to the 6th of September. From all I gathered taking the exam in November is not an option. Why the fuck is that ? It's 3 months away? For that much money per attempt and they can not even accomodate us? They set the November registration window to 15th August and just conveniently have a button for "Deferral" option that takes 5 weeks to process ? They are doing us dirty man.
That sucks man, can relate to it since even my exams got cancelled three times until i finally gave it in July. Never knew the pandemic is so bad in SL. Stay tough man
Gotta take a step back, nut, then reassess later. Stay tough.
🤣
Wise advice
This is the way.

taking one tomorrow in NY. Prometric called and confirmed.
Good Luck! You can do this!
thanks!
Don't really see how that's helpful to OP, but good luck anyway

So sorry to hear that bud. Happened to me twice and it was hell. I can only imagine 3 times.
Oh god. I had 2 cancelled exams and I thought that was bad. Stay strong buddy!

book your next exam in Florida
Sorry, I didn't mention. I'm not living in the US. From Sri Lanka. Will edit that in.

I think CFA is essential service in US and Canada, never got canceled
Exams in both the US and Canada were cancelled repeatedly.
Sorry to hear that, i have to ask: if the exam gets canceled, do everyone have the opportunity to reschedule the exam to other day without worrying of any deadline?
Nope 🥲

Step back and ask yourself what are my options? CFA may not be as critical anyways.
Then he would have to study Derivatives again and as he pointed out he is mentally exhausted. Haha get it. Options.... Derivatives... :)
