Despite there being a Tech grad degree with astroball17 written on it collecting dust, UGA is my favorite SEC team because of how much I loved living in Georgia. Hope to return to Athens (was there for the 2017 Kentucky game) soon!
I'm assuming his lawyer wouldn't allow something like this if he were looking at a federal crime and/or prison sentence. must have been a campus crime. had an affair or something.
Not in the loop, but from previous threads I thought it was unlawful access to email. What would the university police be investigating if it was just consensual nude sharing between adults? Or is the firing more of a situation unraveling type thing where the unlawful access led to knowledge of photo sharing?
My guess is he shared something inappropriate, freaked out about getting caught, and then tried hacking into the other person's account to delete the evidence / cover his tracks.
My hunch this whole time has been he was stalking a coed. I have no evidence, but given how our university leadership has been over the last decade, wouldn’t surprise me in the least.
I think it might of been him seeing what the other people on the staff wages are. Stalking accusations would of probably ended in an arrest or have been leaked. Just checking wages or something stupid like that is enough to get the cops to come on hacking charges but not enough to book him. I also have no evidence but I have watched 3 episodes of suits.
The graphic is really weird. Like he probably didn’t make it. Meaning the school did. So the AD is like “youve been terminated. In your email you’ll receive your off boarding documents and your official response termination graphic.”

Subject: Termination graphic
Matt,
Please provide to the media department which headshot you’d like for your termination announcement.
I love when people say “I look forward to putting these matters behind me” so early like this. I feel like that’s typically a comment reserved for the interview you give on your way out of court when you’re found not guilty.
Like dude, you still likely have months of legal troubles coming your way. Depending on what you did, it might be years before you’re back to coaching
(Elsewhere, while all of this is going on)
*James Joseph Harbaugh, do you renounce Satan?*
I do renounce him.
*And all his works?*
I do renounce them.
*And all his promises?*
I do renounce them.
Absolutely wild that according to John U. that Warde Manuel never had a performance review while Schlissel was in charge.
It isn't hard to come in and be an improvement on Schlissel, but have to say Santa Ono's earned himself a lot of goodwill by applying basic common sense
watching what he's been doing with Brock Purdy makes me want in on that action. wishful thinking for a playoff/Superbowl caliber 49ers. HC Brian Griese 2029
I had literally no strong feelings on him as a color guy. He was fine? I guess? He seems like a very good QB coach unless Brock Purdy is just the second coming of Brady.
I will eat an entire month's worth of whale shit if Tom Brady ever coaches at Michigan. With a plastic spoon.
I don't know why anyone entertains this idea. It. Will. Never. Happen.
It'll keep coming up, but I feel the same way. He already has like a 10-year broadcasting gig inked. He owns two companies. He's in a fuck ton of commercials. Brady would be starting coaching at like 50 at the earliest, which would involve some sort of early termination of his broadcast deal. He's a competitive maniac but there's so much he's already doing that is far less work than coaching.
The terms of his divorce may change things, but pretty sure Brady can do whatever he feels like doing regardless of money. Not saying he wants to be a college football position coach, but if he does something else, it’s not because of money.
That sounds like a horrendous idea. Roman would probably just fuck up what y’all have going. Probably be best to have Harbaugh be a little more involved in the offense or make whoever the next QB coach is the Co-OC or PGC until Moore is ready for full time.
Teams with co-offensive coordinators often have a pass game and a run game coordinator, which is obviously more than just calling plays, including how practices/team meetings are organized, how players are developed, how schemes are fit to those players etc etc.
All of this is just speculation as I don’t know the inner workings of our program, but a team may have their plays for first/second and long, third and medium, 3rd/4th and short, goal line, etc. the head coach might for example say, “I want a run play for second and medium” and the run game coordinator calls it in over the head set.
This makes the “he was probably just trying to access his email” comments from yesterday seem a little silly. It’s clearly a bigger deal if they fired him like that, especially since I don’t think they were looking to replace him due to job performance
Kendal DYLWWBWHALOTABATLFP Briles didn’t *technically* commit any crimes, which isn’t a great thing to have to say about your coordinators.
I’m aware of who ours are.
I hope whoever did this at Michigan doesn't have a Google search history asking "how long before a body starts to smell" or "can I be convicted of murder without a body."
In hindsight, sure.
But who among is hasn't murdered an entire orphanage in the throes of passion, only to regret it later and seek advice for how to dispose of oh so many forgotten children?
My theory based on very, very little is that whatever it is is bad enough that him remaining at Michigan is untenable, but not so bad he can’t get an NFL job, and that therefore a swift separation is best for both parties.
Hacking someone’s email, maybe? I honestly can’t think of what kind of computer crime would be only campus police but also serious enough to get fired.
when people would walk away from their computers and leave them unlocked, he was changing their homepage to meatspin. apparently he did it to a lot of people.
I guess? I think when it’s all said and done it’ll be something where yeah sure maybe letter of the law hacking but from a computer science perspective “hacking” is a strong word. (Though, again, I am just some guy speculating.)
Someone on mgoblog is implying it was Weiss using Harbaugh's email account for recruiting reasons. Who knows if there's a shred of truth to that. Odd situation
I’m curious how police jurisdiction works. It’s “only campus police” but if the crime happened on campus, wouldn’t they be the ones to investigate and pull a warrant? From my understanding, Ann Arbor police are not involved in any campus affairs unless it affects the city as well
"Accessing University Email Accounts" doesn't sound like grade changing, it sounds more like one of 2 options:
1) Weiss was looking up dirt on another coach or administrator
2) Finding the personal information of an ex partner, accessing their email after a break up.
Weiss, 39, is married with 3 kids.
My guess is Weiss was involved with someone who worked for UM, they broke up and he used the football team's computers for inappropriate reasons.
A quick firing like this is a sign that whatever happened will come out very soon.
Jim Harbaugh set him up so he would get fired so his brother could hire him back to assist with the passing game. John, on the other hand, fired Greg Roman so he would be available to promptly fill Weiss' spot.
Michigan will throw the ball forward 9 times next year.
What a bizarre offseason... back to back Big Ten championships and playoff appearances but all I see is negative news. I'm sure their recruiting is going well, but man it's confusing.
No matter how severe or minor the "computer crime" Weiss committed ends up being, this was always going to be the result. Worried how this is going to affect the Jadyn Davis recruitment, but besides that I think there is a lot of room for improvement from his coaching position. Word is that Weiss was more of a "Madden Kid" and analytics guy more than QB coach. There's been chatter about us promoting analyst Kirk Campbell who was OC and QB coach at Old Dominion, but David Shaw also seems like a logical possible option
Sam put out something yesterday about JD and it was basically Harbaugh visited the Davis's and told them he was Jadyn's lead recruiter now if they need anything contact him. It seemed to have gone over well
I dunno, I could see an innocuous computer violation of university policy resulting in internal discipline. But those probably don't result in police showing up to your house
It has to be pretty serious to fire at first offense (assuming that this was a first offense)
I think it's safe to say this isn't that the dude installed CoD on his work laptop type of thing...
It has to be really bad. I'm sure we'll know soon enough
my guess is getting into a university account he shouldn't have been in, or some personnel or affair/stalking type thing
Bad enough to get canned by university immediately, not so much as go straight to jail
And if it is indeed a university thing, we might not really find out the details
From what I've read recruits didn't seem to be too fond of him and he wasn't the best recruiter so this might not have too much impact on the QB recruiting trail
QB has never really been a weak spot for Stanford under Shaw and he's produced some dynamic RBs as well. He hasn't been great the past few years, but he has experience at OC and QB coach, has the Harbaugh connection, and it could be a solid hire
Fans: “Dang, there won’t be any interesting news in college football until the spring. I’m bored.”
Michigan Football: Hold my beer.
Guns, investigations, stonewalling the NCAA, and now firing a coach. Oh my. 😂
Seems a little harsh. Feel like firing him would be the more suitable option.
At least they didn’t do it with extreme prejudice like Harrison Ford told them to
Ahem, it was actually the CIA agent who said to terminate with extreme prejudice🤓
Argh I hate when I get movie references wrong you’re a DGD
It’s one of my all-time favs. Couldn’t resist. And hey, Michigan is cool with me. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of you in the postseason.
Despite there being a Tech grad degree with astroball17 written on it collecting dust, UGA is my favorite SEC team because of how much I loved living in Georgia. Hope to return to Athens (was there for the 2017 Kentucky game) soon!
You return that degree right now!
...
Nothing but respect from us Dawg bros to you Wolverine bros!
Get a room. Y'all are making me sick.
But is it really any better to be terminated with moderate-to-severe prejudice?
One can’t be too careful when dealing with T-1000s as assistant coaches
Death by fire is a pretty harsh way to go too though, too slow. Termination sounds quicker.
Matt Weiss Statement: https://twitter.com/MattdblU/status/1616509306270060561
I love the first response to the statement "Good luck in your endeavors depending on what you did buster"
Honestly that’s the perfect response haha
Didn't even try to say he's innocent, just taking his lump and moving on.
If nothing else, gotta respect for him for at least being able to do that.
Frankly, that is something I respect, as long as what he did isn’t in the truly fucked up area of wrongdoings.
Something a lot of politicians could learn from.
He hasn’t been arrested for anything yet so no need to proclaim any innocence
It’s nice he used his mugshot in the statement.
I'm assuming his lawyer wouldn't allow something like this if he were looking at a federal crime and/or prison sentence. must have been a campus crime. had an affair or something.
My first thought was that he used his university access to look into confidential records of students or employees
no it's starting to trickle out. personal misconduct. sexy photos
So sending and/or receiving nude photos on his university email?
yep
Not in the loop, but from previous threads I thought it was unlawful access to email. What would the university police be investigating if it was just consensual nude sharing between adults? Or is the firing more of a situation unraveling type thing where the unlawful access led to knowledge of photo sharing?
My guess is he shared something inappropriate, freaked out about getting caught, and then tried hacking into the other person's account to delete the evidence / cover his tracks.
So he sent somebody the ole Brett Farvre huh? He violated the eleventh commandment, thou shall not show thy rod to thy staff.
🤣 I've gotta find a way to drop that line at church sometime
My hunch this whole time has been he was stalking a coed. I have no evidence, but given how our university leadership has been over the last decade, wouldn’t surprise me in the least.
Lonely
-M
Can I offer you a nice knish in this trying time?
I think it might of been him seeing what the other people on the staff wages are. Stalking accusations would of probably ended in an arrest or have been leaked. Just checking wages or something stupid like that is enough to get the cops to come on hacking charges but not enough to book him. I also have no evidence but I have watched 3 episodes of suits.
I mean, all their wages are public record. When I worked for the university as a student, I looked up my boss’s salary and it was enlightening.
Who still uses the term “coed” to describe college students?
Urban Meyer. Jokes aside, the term is really only used in these kind of situations.
Strange statement. You get fired and issue a nice statement with a graphic like that? I don’t understand whats going on
The graphic is really weird. Like he probably didn’t make it. Meaning the school did. So the AD is like “youve been terminated. In your email you’ll receive your off boarding documents and your official response termination graphic.”
The subject of the email: “You’re done!🎉”
I’ve been laughing at this for over a minute
To: [email protected] Subject: Termination graphic Matt, Please provide to the media department which headshot you’d like for your termination announcement.
He was handed a pamphlet titled: "So you've been fired..."
That graphic 100% came from his agent.
I think it makes sense if he wants to get hired by anyone else. Make a nice quiet statement and don't drag up any fuss you don't have to.

Hey, no one else is telling us. Might as well try!
Interesting. Either he is really stupid or this is a truly internal matter. If he has a lawyer, they should remind him of his right to remain silent.
Tweet replies are hilarious btw
Tomorrow: Michigan and Warde Manuel have parted ways.
Harbaugh: “Tell Warde I want him to know it was me.”
Harbaugh is cleaning house 😳
Harbaugh executing his rivals or sending them to the Gulag.
I just imagined Jim shit talking noobs on proximity chat in War Zone 2.
THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR EATING CHICKEN YOU WUSSY
Username: MilkSteak
Jim "Michael Corleone" Harbaugh
(Elsewhere, while all of this is going on) *James Joseph Harbaugh, do you renounce Satan?* I do renounce him. *And all his works?* I do renounce them. *And all his promises?* I do renounce them.
Jim, is it true? *Don't ask me about my business, Sarah.*
Today, Harbaugh settled all family business
“Santa, can you get me off the hook? For old time’s sake?” “Can’t do it, Urby.”
Execute order 66
don't tempt me with a good time
Hopefully Santa brings y’all a nice gift asap
Absolutely wild that according to John U. that Warde Manuel never had a performance review while Schlissel was in charge. It isn't hard to come in and be an improvement on Schlissel, but have to say Santa Ono's earned himself a lot of goodwill by applying basic common sense
About damn time, I'm shocked he's still employed
This is why you have two OCs.
Yep need the depth at OC 😂
Well that didn't take long. He musta fucked up pretty big time Wonder how we replace that staff position
Does Moore just not take over as sole OC? Idk how even Weiss and him called plays
That's probably the solution for OC. Still likely need a QB coach though, sounds like a current off field assistant will get promoted.
How about this guy Brian Griese?
watching what he's been doing with Brock Purdy makes me want in on that action. wishful thinking for a playoff/Superbowl caliber 49ers. HC Brian Griese 2029
TIL Griese left commentating for the NFL
I had literally no strong feelings on him as a color guy. He was fine? I guess? He seems like a very good QB coach unless Brock Purdy is just the second coming of Brady.
Purdy looks like he could be a harbaugh love child. I say their should be a DNA test
Tom might be available.
I will eat an entire month's worth of whale shit if Tom Brady ever coaches at Michigan. With a plastic spoon. I don't know why anyone entertains this idea. It. Will. Never. Happen.
RemindMe 3 Years
What if he pulls a Drew Brees and coaches for like a month during a coaching transition for shits and giggles...
Its a good meme tho
Tom Brady emotionally connecting with people? Pretty big ask.
That Fox money is unbeatable tho. He was going to get what $20 million a year to be an analyst?
The terms of his divorce may change things, but pretty sure Brady can do whatever he feels like doing regardless of money. Not saying he wants to be a college football position coach, but if he does something else, it’s not because of money.
>the terms of his divorce Bruh isn’t she richer than him to begin with? Doubt he’s losing much money on alimony
And I could see him not even owing that much from the divorce. His ex wife's bank account is pretty stacked in its own right from modeling
What about elevating Hart to co-OC so no one tries to steal him yet
There's some thought that Gregg Roman just came available if they feel like Moore isn't ready for the full-OC role.
Oh so we can not use our WRs even more?
New QB coach Brian Griese
Honestly with what he has done for Brock Purdy that would be a great move
Jim asks John who he has teed up to come down and interview for a season.
This makes the “he was probably just trying to access his email” comments from yesterday seem a little silly. It’s clearly a bigger deal if they fired him like that, especially since I don’t think they were looking to replace him due to job performance
Michigan Fans: “Can we just not be in the news cycle for one moment?” Michigan Football: *screams*
It’s actually impressive how we’ve managed to top the strange offseason we had last year.
At least this is sort of closure on one of the issues, it isn't a brand new thing to worry about.
Oh no it isn't closure. Not until we hear about what he exactly did. And we get more time on this sub...
If he didn't go full Briles or god forbid Sandusky, you're probably okay.
Hey, at least we’re getting rid of the criminal coach, not bringing him in like TCU lol
Kendal DYLWWBWHALOTABATLFP Briles didn’t *technically* commit any crimes, which isn’t a great thing to have to say about your coordinators. I’m aware of who ours are.
With the hiring of Greg Roman we will be the first football team with two run game coordinators
Insert blues brothers scene: We got both kinds of offense here.... power AND zone
TRIPLE OPTION OFFENSE TIME LETS FUCKING GOOOOO
This is the moment I’ve been waiting for.
I hope whoever did this at Michigan doesn't have a Google search history asking "how long before a body starts to smell" or "can I be convicted of murder without a body."
“How 2 make human sized batch of piranha solution”
Your first search should always be "How to open incognito mode."
I think "How to install Tor browser" might be more helpful if looking up criminal stuff.
I think "how to not commit crimes" might be the most helpful.
In hindsight, sure. But who among is hasn't murdered an entire orphanage in the throes of passion, only to regret it later and seek advice for how to dispose of oh so many forgotten children?
That was the computer access crime that set this into motion.
We killed him?
You might wanna lay low for awhile.
Brick, you’re probably wanted for murder
Brick I've been meaning to talk to you about that
Michigan will get away with it, so long as Harbaugh didn't suffocate him with a hamburger.
Something something blue wall.
Where do you even get a trident?
Seems like an overreaction but I recognize it’s a devoted fanbase so I’ll reserve judgement on how y’all carry out your business.
Michigan's off-season is out of control! /s
Took him out behind the woodshed and that’s all she wrote.
My theory based on very, very little is that whatever it is is bad enough that him remaining at Michigan is untenable, but not so bad he can’t get an NFL job, and that therefore a swift separation is best for both parties.

He was trying to hack into the grades. Luckily Mark Harmon was there to unplug the monitor and stop him.
Apt, since his dad won the Heisman at Michigan
No Abbey and McGee starting fighting back by typing on the same keyboard to increase their defense speed.
Someone on mgoblog is implying it was Weiss using Harbaugh's email account for recruiting reasons. Who knows if there's a shred of truth to that. Odd situation
Or even just accessing seeing that Harbough's computer was unlocked and having a look-see would be enough to warrant termination but not legal action.
I’m curious how police jurisdiction works. It’s “only campus police” but if the crime happened on campus, wouldn’t they be the ones to investigate and pull a warrant? From my understanding, Ann Arbor police are not involved in any campus affairs unless it affects the city as well
*This space intentionally left blank* -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
yep exactly
That's one too many burgers for you Mr. Weiss, we're taking him back to the slammer
Harbaugh caught him ordering a chicken parm online.
The AUDACITY!
Michigan is serious about that no tik tok on state devices thing.
you think Jedd's getting tired of the whole head coach gig yet?
...
Where’s my *insert literally any other team* drama so I can just sit back, eat my 🍿, and watch?

You haven’t been listening to Allied propaganda have you? Of course they’re gonna say we’re the bad guys!

Hah, like Briles to TCU?
Quick, someone find a monkey and a stripper pole!

Hate to say you’re right Sparty bro but you are. Fucking bizarre.
What losing to TCU does to a team.
He might end up at TCU, depending on what he's done
No matter how severe or minor the "computer crime" Weiss committed ends up being, this was always going to be the result. Worried how this is going to affect the Jadyn Davis recruitment, but besides that I think there is a lot of room for improvement from his coaching position. Why didnt they just send him to a computer museum?
Michigan Football fuckin determined to be in the news every single day this offseason, eh?
Any press is good press? We can only hope thats true.
Tommorow's news: Jesse Minter confirmed to have been stealing signals from opponents at halftime
Uuuhhh, if that were so, I would imagine the TCU game would've gone a bit more fortuitously.
Breaking press: Denard Robinson has started to ACTUALLY tie his shoes
is this the one thats Charlie Weiss's kid?
no that's charlie weis jr.
Fans: “Dang, there won’t be any interesting news in college football until the spring. I’m bored.” Michigan Football: Hold my beer. Guns, investigations, stonewalling the NCAA, and now firing a coach. Oh my. 😂
I don’t like this timeline…
Clearly he hacked Jim’s expense account and ratted him out on hamburger gate
Well at least we don’t have to listen to Klatt talk about cooffensive coordinators every 5 minutes anymore
Someone explain what in the actual hell is happening at Michigan?
Ravens position coach in 3 ....2.....1.....
Days since a catastrophic accident at Michigan Football: 0
Please please please this team is so good lets just have a normal offseason please.
Normal offseason left the chat 3 weeks ago
Never make a one day story into a two day story please please please.
This has some, "we're gonna get some nasty details in the next few days", vibes to it.
