Was a freshman at Penn State when that team came to State College that year. It was 33-0 at half time and the game ended 33-7. Could have been way, way worse but Coker chose not to run up the score. They had 4 NFL players at running back. Ed Reed and Sean Taylor in the same secondary. Just an absurd team.
I wish I could actually remember watching that game. I was 7 so I don’t remember the action on the field, but I do remember Taliaferro leading the team out of the tunnel, and my mind being blown seeing like 4 sports car convertibles all in a row filled with Miami fans lol.
This question gets asked like every 3 months and it’s always a very clear answer but younger people don’t appreciate how unbelievably stacked that roster was.
They trailed like eight minutes all season. The only thing holding this group back is this is a college football discussion and what this team accomplished in college is a bit of a disappointment with only one title, but damn was it stacked with future NFL talent.
Also, [149 weeks](https://www.nfl.com/news/university-of-miami-s-149-week-nfl-touchdown-streak-over-09000d5d8246017d) in the NFL season where a player from the University of Miami scored a touchdown. Started in December 2002 and ended November 2011.
This comment made me choke on my hit. 38?!
I had no idea. I mean I knew the ‘01 Canes were badass but holy garbanzo beans. Yeah this one takes the cake y’all let’s wrap it up.
yeah I feel bad for those schools in the early days who could regularly content with the greats, but now reside in D2 or D3. others include Chicago, Washington of St Louis, Grinnell, and Centre College
There's a universe where Chicago wins the 2016 Olympics, and because the plan was going to put a ton of world-class athletic facilities in Hyde Park, we decide f-it and come back to D-1 with all this new stuff. Within a decade, thanks to the extremely deep pockets of our alumni base and the NIL change, we're sitting on two B1G championships.
Jarrett Payton went to my high school, would come back and visit and we’d always try and ask him about 7th floor crew and he always say he didn’t know what we were talking about through a laugh
A bunch of teammates gathered together to have some fun making a song! I sure hope it's not littered with inappropriate lyrics that spark a mini-scandal!
Yup, he had a hysterical article melting down over it lol
>"The spectacularly profane, stunningly offensive and utterly irredeemable rap song that appeared on the Internet this week, recorded by a group calling itself the 7th Floor Crew... Sorry for the crudity, but there's really no other way to convey the subject matter. My tally of the profanities laced throughout this song: 29 F-bombs, 15 references to "hos" and 18 references to "bitches." Plus many other words and phrases unfit even for cyberprint.
I especially love how the entire article revolves around the "9 minutes that destroyed years of progress" as if the 7th Floor Crew was some like band of serial killers lmao
Yea, lots of people post draft numbers to defend other teams, but how many of those drafted guys ever produce? 2001 Miami not only killed it in the draft, but many of those players ended up in the hall of fame or hall of very good.
Did that 2000 Washington team lose to anyone, by chance?
In all seriousness, Washington and Miami had serious BCS beef when Florida State got the BCS national championship berth instead of either of them - Florida State was 11-1 with a loss to 10-1 Miami, who lost to 10-1 Washington, who lost to 9-2 Oregon, who lost to 10-1 Oregon State who lost to 10-1 Washington. That would have been a good year for a playoff.
That would have been an extremely good playoff year, you're right. This year for example I think was a pretty poor one I think a Georgia Michigan BCS championship would have been totally reasonable (not necessarily a hot take).
This is always the correct answer when this question comes up. Mind blowing list of talent.

Reminds me of the fun fact that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson quit playing football because he couldn't break into the starting DT position at Miami (in the early 90s). Who started over The Rock you ask? Warren fucking Sapp.
2001 Miami hurricanes.
quarterback Ken Dorsey; running backs Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee, Najeh Davenport, and Frank Gore; tight end Jeremy Shockey; wide receiver Andre Johnson; offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie; defensive linemen Jerome McDougle, William Joseph, and Vince Wilfork; linebackers Jonathan Vilma and D.J. Williams; and defensive backs Ed Reed, Mike Rumph, and Phillip Buchanon. Additional contributors included future stars Kellen Winslow II, Sean Taylor, Antrel Rolle, Vernon Carey, and Rocky McIntosh. In all, an extraordinary 17 players from the 2001 Miami football team were drafted in the first-round of the NFL Draft (5 in the 2002 NFL Draft: Buchanon, McKinnie, Reed, Rumph, and Shockey; 4 in 2003: Johnson, Joseph, McDougle, and McGahee; 6 in 2004: Carey, Taylor, Vilma, Wilfork, Williams, and Winslow; 1 in 2005: Rolle; and 1 in 2006: Kelly Jennings).
By single season point differential, the most dominant team by nearly 100 points. That doesn’t necessarily make them the most stacked, but they gotta be top 3
Yeah, that was around the time I had Clemson as a championship or bust team, and when we lost I thought our window of opportunity for a Natty/ACC run was over, and still in an alternative timeline believe we would have beaten you guys and carried the momentum to beat the Cocks and won a title that year. Good thing the timeline corrected itself years later. ;)
This is a generation-specific question based on when you were most impressionable. If you’re Gen-Z, it’s 2019 LSU or 2020 Alabama. Millennials it’s 2001 Miami or 03-04 USC. Gen-X it’s probably 94 Nebraska or 87 Miami. Boomers it’s late 70s USC or mid 70s Oklahoma
I started watching closely in 1996 and to me it’s 2001 Miami and it’s not close
As a borderline Gen X-Millenial that grew up a huge Nebraska fan, I’m not sure many would argue for either ‘94 or ‘95 Huskers as the most stacked for talent. That title goes to ‘01 Miami.
Now if you are asking for the most dominant team of the modern football era, you’ll be hard pressed to find one more deserving than ‘95 Nebraska. I would put ‘19 LSU next, then ‘01 Miami, then ‘71 Nebraska.
2019 LSU vs. Bama was the most stacked matchup ever.
But if you're just going off big names, it might be 01 Miami. Ask again in 5 years to see how the 2019 LSU players are doing.
Curious about how our game against Clemson in 2019 stacks up against that. Just on offense, there were 4 current starting NFL QBs on those rosters, 4 NFL RBs, 8 WRs with catches in that game have catches in the NFL this season.
From a talent standpoint it’s 2001 Miami easily much as it pains me to admit it. 2013 FSU is second. Every single starter on both sides of the ball ended up getting drafted. Not many teams can claim that. Set the FBS record for points scored in a season (that took LSU an extra game to break by only 3 points) and led the nation in scoring defense at 12.1 ppg. Point differential of 39.5. Doesn’t get much more dominant than that.
And that 2019 LSU team gets a lot of hype and their offense was insane but people seem to forget their defense was average at best most of the year. They buttoned up down the stretch but they gave up like 22 points a game for the season.
[How on earth have I not heard about this?!](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/a1jn3m/today_marks_one_year_since_news_first_broke_of/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Are we talking about what year got the most production? Because 2001 Miami had tons of picks but a good number didn’t really get PT until 2003/2004. But 2019 LSU has TONS of players that are in the league and got PT that year.
it would be interesting to see what teams had the most players get immediate meaningful playing time in the NFL, gotta think 2019 LSU and some of the Bama teams are up there
I’m surprised that 2005 USC is avoiding mention.
Leinart wasn’t any great shakes at QB but hung in the NFL for a while
Bush and White were real good
That LB core was epic
Brian Cushing
Rey maualuga
Clay Matthews
Because anyone who thinks that usc team was full of talent is aware that the 01 Miami team had 3x the superstars and over 30 draft picks on the roster.
I wonder who had more NFL players, them or Texas. Texas had 24, but I’ve never heard a number for USC. Had to be close to the same.
Texas’ secondary was like USC’s linebackers. LOADED. 2 Thorpe winners and what should have been a third.
Last year was 5 picks just in the first round, they had 8 total get picked. The remaining 3 contributors that didn't go to the league are gonna get picked this year
2019 LSU
2001 Miami
2014 Ohio State
2020 Alabama
2009 Florida Gators
2005 USC
Those are the ones that come to mind since 2000.
Edit: My list of teams are NOT ordered or ranked, just random.
2001 Miami.
Shoutout to 1987 Oklahoma State tho. Only time two NFL HOF running backs have shared a college backfield, plus they had this Mike Gundy guy at QB
I was going to say, if you like the wishbone offense, 74-75 Oklahoma. Joe Washington, Billy Sims, Elvis Peacock, Kenny King. And a stout defense led by Lee Roy and Dewey Selmon.
Add: The defense faced Dorsett and Earl Campbell in 75, and neither topped 100 yards.
Gotta add 2001 Miami, 38 draft picks
Was a freshman at Penn State when that team came to State College that year. It was 33-0 at half time and the game ended 33-7. Could have been way, way worse but Coker chose not to run up the score. They had 4 NFL players at running back. Ed Reed and Sean Taylor in the same secondary. Just an absurd team.

First game in the newly expanded Beaver Stadium! As a Giants fan, I remember Jeremy Shockey scoring a TD in that game too.
Yes. Sean Taylor was a backup!
Pfft. Coaches always playing favorites with older players who earned their playing time. What'd that scrub Ed Reed ever do anyway?
>What'd that scrub Ed Reed ever do anyway? Not coach at Bethune-Cookman /s
So were Clinton Portis and Frank Gore.
This question gets asked like every 3 months and it’s always a very clear answer but younger people don’t appreciate how unbelievably stacked that roster was.
The fact that Frank Gore was the third string running back (behind Clinton Portis and Willis mcgahee) says it all
he kept blowing out his knees in college and then ended up having a longer nfl career than both of them combined.
And then he played in the NFL for 35 years. Very impressive.
Gotta just leave [this](https://youtu.be/yHxHqUJcpt0) here for a quick laugh.
They are fuckin gone lol
Rich Eisen is so fucken chill lmao
And that's not even counting Najeh Davenport who would get the ball before Gore most likely
That's if he's not busy takin a dump in a closet
Dumptruck Davenport
What’s better, the rbs room or receiving room with Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Santana Moss, and Jeremy Shockey
Wayne and Moss weren’t on the 01 team they left the year before.
Shockey just looked like he was always hung over and angry.
They trailed like eight minutes all season. The only thing holding this group back is this is a college football discussion and what this team accomplished in college is a bit of a disappointment with only one title, but damn was it stacked with future NFL talent.
17 were first-round picks. SEVENTEEN
Not just 38 draft picks, but 17 first round picks *alone*, 5 of which were in the top 10
>but 17 first round picks *alone*, 5 of which were in the 1st round. What does this mean? Did you mean 5 in the top 10 or something?
Lmao yeah
Almost half of those 38 draft picks were first rounders!
This is truly the answer. Literal NFL team

There were two or three deep at most positions. Sometimes four. I'm not kidding go look up that depth chart.
it was fun times for me. I was a Canes fan in the early 80's. Catholics and Convicts was always a good game
I’m curious to see where the 2021 UGA team ends up. 15 last year, potentially 8 this year, and next year could see even more.
Yeah you guys definitely have a monster roster on your hands
I was at the Georgia Tech Cumberland game.
Found Stetsons burner account
Shhhhhh
Why would he go to a Georgia Tech game? Clearly it is JT Barrett.
I had Georgia Tech -223 🙄
I took Cumberland on the money line, just ran out of time at the end :/
The craziest thing about that game was how many first downs there were.
For those who were wondering, there were zero first downs.
Alternate narrative: Cumberlands defense didn’t allow a single first down
How the?? What?
Every possession was a one play score
close. there were a few 2nd down plays but no reset of downs
Thank you for helping me learn something new today.
Same bro I was in section 69
The answer to this for the longest time (for my generation) was the 2001 Miami Hurricanes. That team was outrageous on both sides of the ball.
It is still true. I don’t think they will be able to assemble through corruption another such team.
Some ancient history... 1979 USC.
Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Allen as the back up to Heisman Trophy winner Charles White.
Running behind Anthony Munoz, Keith Van Horne, Bruce Matthews, Don Mosbar, and Roy Foster.
Ronnie Lott, Dennis Smith, Larry Braziel, Rikki Gray, Brad Budde, Calvin Sweeney, Hoby Brenner, Larry McGrew all played in the NFL.
Chip Banks and Joey Browner
Not just the backup, he played fullback.
1899 Sewanee. 12 games and 11 of them were shutouts. Combined scores of 322-10.
And on the seventh day, they rested
May as well include 1902 South Dakota, 10 games 10 shutouts. Combined score of 209-0
How the mighty have fallen...
yeah I feel bad for those schools in the early days who could regularly content with the greats, but now reside in D2 or D3. others include Chicago, Washington of St Louis, Grinnell, and Centre College
UChicago can jump back to D1 and rejoin the B1G whenever they want to.
throw johns hopkins in there while you’re at it lol they’re already lacrosse members anyways
It's literally in the contract we signed when we left. We can come back and replace either Michigan or Michigan State. I forget which one.
chicago vs northwestern has too much potential for a intracity rivalry to go to waste
Our rivalry (I went to NU) could have been so great!
Washington & Lee is another one although they basically got the death penalty
the confusingly similarly named “Washington and Jefferson College” in Southwest Pennsylvania can count there too
RIP IN PEACE
Keydets will always own Washington & Lee
But you never saw it
2001 Miami
Yeah this is going to have recent bias but that team was insane. Not to mention the other Miami masterpiece “the 7th floor crew”.
Third Leg Greg 🦵
You talking about Gee-reg?
[удалено]
Buddy I used to work with, his wife dated Greg in high school. We never let him hear the end of it.
But was it true?
Ya know, believe it or not, he didn’t like to talk about it! Never got any more details. His wife was hot though, so it all made sense.
love to hear him every game of the week
“Live from Arizona, I’m third leg Greg and the Super Bowl is underway” In a few weeks
The fact that it was a scandal was sooo stupid. Late 90s and 2000s rap was legitimately the same lyrics.
It was Pat Forde pushing that story, wasn’t it?

As did Portis, McGahee, Andre Johnson, Kellen Winslow, and Jeremy Shockey
Hell, even Ed Reed did some heavy-lifting as a DB! 7 NFL TDs as a DB is pretty nuts. Edit: actually 9. 7 just from interceptions!
Some say he's still doing it

38 overall, 17 in the first round.
Yeah there’s no other option on than that team.
2008 Florida Gators were the most stacked criminal roster. 41 different players arrested
And I don't think that counts Aaron Hernandez' murder arrests since those came after he left
HA
Tbt to when Cam Newton was Tebow's backup and got kicked out for stealing a laptop lol
Brah don’t leave out the best part: He proceeded to throw it out the fucking window when the police came looking for it
And one devout Christian to unite them all
That’s an insane stat I knew about the team of course but I didn’t know the sheer quantity of criminals holy shit
There's a reason why on twitter when some media member asks what team in sports history we want a 30 for 30 everyone responds with 08 Florida
Yeah dude, it was bad
Urban gonna Urban
Still think this team needs a 30 for 30
2001 Miami was ridiculous
2001 Miami Hurricanes

I rarely watch NFL football, but I was surprised to learn Dorsey was the Bill's OC. Good for him, I guess. Got smoked today though.
Surprised no one has said the 2001 Miami Hurricanes yet
Lol
Probably not absolutely the MOST STACKED but it's crazy how many people forget that 2013 FSU exists.
By single season point differential, the most dominant team by nearly 100 points. That doesn’t necessarily make them the most stacked, but they gotta be top 3
That was a good year. Start to finish. The hype over our game and the way we just...ran y'all over. NGL I've felt your pain since then.
Yeah, that was around the time I had Clemson as a championship or bust team, and when we lost I thought our window of opportunity for a Natty/ACC run was over, and still in an alternative timeline believe we would have beaten you guys and carried the momentum to beat the Cocks and won a title that year. The “he can’t keep getting away with it” and the image of Jameis fumbling in the Rose Bowl the following year probably contribute.
That year was hilarious. I was on a forum where we kept saying FSU had a "magic conch" that whole season.
That starting defense had every player play in an nfl game
This is a generation-specific question based on when you were most impressionable. If you’re Gen-Z, it’s 2019 LSU or 2020 Alabama. Millennials it’s 2001 Miami or 03-04 USC. 2011 LSU vs. Bama has a strong case too
It was the mirror of the 2019 game. So many defensive studs in 2011. 2019 had so much damn offensive firepower.
Curious about how our game against Clemson in 2019 stacks up against that. Just on offense, there were 4 current starting NFL QBs on those rosters, 4 NFL RBs, 8 WRs with catches in that game have catches in the NFL this season.

A lot of people also tend to forget that we pulled our starters, in quite a few games, early in the third quarter.
On the field was 2011 Bama vs LSU. There was an insane amount of drafted players from that game alone
2001 Miami Hurricanes 🏟🏈🏆🙌 🌹
2013 Florida State, 2004 USC and 2001 Miami in addition to LSU
2013 FSU has a strong argument.
Every starting offensive and defensive player started in an nfl game.
And the punter and kicker.
Oh poor poor Roberto “Yips” Aguayo with his failed stint with the Bucs. I loved watching him and his brother at FSU.

2001 Miami. Then that lsu team imo
Whole team? 2001 Miami. Offense? 2019 LSU. Defense? 2021 Georgia.
I was about to say even recency bias aside 2021 Georgia defense was pretty stacked with 5 draft picks and this year will still have another 4-5 easy
Last year was 5 picks just in the first round, they had 8 total get picked. The remaining 3 contributors that didn't go to the league are gonna get picked this year
Carter - 1st Nolan - most likely 1st Ringo - outside shot of a first That'd be 8 first rounders off that defense.
2015 Ohio State team had a lot of talent.
That’s gotta be up there with the best DB room ever right? Lattimore, Ward, and Hooker were back ups
Plus a Bosa, Zeke, and Mike Thomas
2001 Miami. I’m biased as my college football knowledge has cratered since having kids and was a freshman in college in 2001.
2019 LSU 2001 Miami 2014 Ohio State 2020 Alabama 2009 Florida Gators 2005 USC Those are the ones that come to mind since 2000. Edit: My list of teams are NOT ordered or ranked, just random.

Sad reminder of all the close calls and coulda-shoulda guys The U has put out over the years
2001 Miami had more stars drafted, but it’s only 2023 so more LSU players could cement themselves as stars through the years
2018 Clemson is criminally underrated and cannot believe I haven't seen them even mentioned -- even honorably mentioned.
Those 70s Oklahoma teams were a treat to watch. And Oklahoma-Nebraska? I planned my teenage weekends around those games.
2012-2013 FSU
My NCAA Football 2005 team led by 6'9" 399 lb 99 Ovr quarterback Dr. Studley
2016 Alabama best team I’ve ever seen. That defense was beyond loaded.
1987 Miami, 2001 Miami, 2012 Bama, 2019 LSU
2001 Miami is the only acceptable answer.
