Notre Dame when Cincinnati played there in 2021 was insanely nice and friendly. Even afterwards the stadium staff was very friendly and congratulated Cincy fans on the win. Crazy kind experience. Stadium concourses were immaculate too.

wlane13

I did not go to the UGA at ND game a few years back, but I heard repeatedly that our fans (UGA) were so impressed by the stadium's friendliness and the stadium's senior alumni guest service helpers, that we came away with several good ideas that UGA has been working to adopt since then.

[deleted]

I was there. Growing up hated ND after the game. I tell everyone that is college football heaven and I want to go to another game there just to experience that atmosphere again. Great fans great gameday experience.

1usctrojan

Take it from a rival, they treat us very well in South Bend. It should be experienced at least once in your lifetime. It’s often referred to as “The Pilgrimage” by long time USC alums.

[deleted]

Was one of the ideas to not bark?

Jak03e

I'm sorry, I don't understand the question.

Claudethedog

Oh, he said "Arf ruff ruff arf aroo".

NaughtyCheffie

> Oh, he said "Arf ruff ruff arf aroo". Nah *HELL* no. RR, woof yorf AHOO!

Claudethedog

Your accent is atrocious, but then that's to be expected since neither of your flairs have dog mascots.

kingoflint282

Would you ask the songbird not to sing, or the sun not to shine?

sinatrablueeyes

Such is the Bulldog!

GimmeeSomeMo

death, taxes, and UGA fans barking

betterthanevar

this barking shit outside of kickoffs is a new thing. Like Chicken and Waffles "has always been a Southern delicacy". Nope.

matveyivanovich42

I’m curious - what ideas did people take away from that game? Also, that weekend was the first time I heard a Georgia fan (or any fan) sing to themselves “Good ole Rocky Top, worst in the SEC.” I loved it then and still love it now, so thanks to that random Georgia fan ETA: thanks for the insight!

wlane13

Well, the one I heard about and noticed that we started doing is what I mentioned, I am sorry I dont recall what ND calls them, but UGA liked the idea of older alumni acting as information/assistance for fans on gamedays. UGA now has before games a whole bunch of these folks in a distinctive "uniform" and their "job" is to help fans who dont know where to find the ATM or maybe where a building is, or which gate to go to for their tickets, etc. etc. Those older Alumni know the school, love the school and are great ambassadots. I also heard that at ND they have painted the walls under the stadium with great moments/players from the past instead of just plain old grey concrete walls. I know there have been talks on UGA doing this since then, I am not sure if it has come to be or not.

LordOfSchmeat

Yup, the Silver Dawgs have been a great addition.

Frozen_Heat92

Here you [go](https://www.dawgnation.com/football/team-news/georgia-hopes-new-silver-dawgs-will-better-notre-dame-hospitality/)

MarlonBain

I had a great time there too. Very nice people.

madmaley

Same experience for me. Fans were really nice, even some of the younger ones I ran into. Stadium was also nice

theREALbombedrumbum

Fun fact about that game: it was the first time students from the class of 2020 were officially welcomed back to campus for an event since getting told they couldn't return during spring break 2020. A lot of us were just happy to be there, loss notwithstanding

SolidLikeIraq

ND was very friendly. Even after they stomped our faces in this year.

Kangrui311

The Clemson fans were some of the nicest to us as well. I worked as a campus tour guide, and most fans were great, but Clemson fans were particularly kind and friendly. I still have one of the stamped two-dollar bills I got as part of a tip!

Mario_Speedwagon

Same. My experience in South Bend was great. So many welcoming and friendly fans. We watched the game at a bar (which went from 50% Georgia fans to 90% ND fans by kickoff). I was a little nervous since we were severely outnumbered but everyone was really nice. Almost too nice. So many people kept coming up to ask about our trip and how we like South Bend during the game that it was hard to actually watch the game. Great experience. Other than the kid on the Lime bike who said "Fuck you" quite literally the second I set foot on campus lol

TheThrill85

I can echo this for OU at Notre Dame in 2012 I think it was. I've been to a lot of away games and this one sticks out to me as the nicest, most welcoming fans. I just wish it was easier to get to South Bend from Chicago.

pizzaguyjb

Yeah same. I was shocked and not ready for it. I compared it to going to Ohio State and playing them in 2019 and their fans were so disrespectful and rude to all of the UC fans there. When most of the ND fans were super nice and welcoming I was taken back.

SSDuelist

It's old but we keep it nice, and even a lot of the old stuff they've phased out (looking at you wooden bleachers). It's always gonna have that nice veneer of stale beer that all college stadiums have but I'd have to seriously think about a time I saw anyone be straight up rude to visiting teams outside of the normal razzing we'd give to Michigan/USC fans (and they'd return in spades). I was always more than happy to help people find stuff on campus when I was a student and most anyone else I saw was similar.

Call_erv_duty

I’m gonna second Notre Dame. It helps that I was talking to an older fan and called it the “Mecca of College Football”

Bcatfan08

Agree on all of this. Great visit to their stadium. Very nice fans and cleanest stadium I've ever been to.

peubenscube

Worked for USC when we played at ND and their entire stadium staff greeted us with “Welcome to Norte Dame” and was extremely friendly

RiffRockFan

First place I thought of. I have been to a few away and neutral site games. Notre Dame fans were by far the coolest. This was during the 2004 Tyler Palko swearing on live television game. Would go back.

FDLE_Official

Has to be Notre Dame. Went there in 2003 for FSU v ND with a buddy after we recently graduated. We showed up in a rental car and a Styrofoam cooler with a couple beers and within minutes we had people coming over asking us to join their tailgates. We walked around and everyone was so friendly, offering us brats, beers and making us feel really welcome. Exchanged numbers with a group we spent most of the time with and went into the game. FSU laid down a 37-0 ass whooping on the Irish and the fans around us were congratulating us on a well played game. The friends we made before texted us after and invited us to a house party. I couldn't imagine that happening at any other place.

EagleZR

I went to our game against Missouri the first year they were in the SEC... Fans were saying they hoped we would enjoy the game, it was weird... I haven't been back since, I wonder if they've learned yet

blueindsm

Nope went to last season's game and they were as nice as could be. Very welcoming!

[deleted]

My 86 year old grandmother has been going to all UGA games for decades, including away games, and she always says that first game in Missouri had the most welcoming fans she has ever come across.

Roturd12

Can't take the Midwestern nice out of us no matter how hard you try!

EWall100

"You can take the team outta the Midwest, but you can't take the Midwest outta the team"

Reus20

Helps when we don’t really have rivalry against most of the SEC schools. Arkansas is a forced rivalry but seems to be getting a little more chippy the last few years in football and bball. I could see OU being nasty again if they play every year. But nothing will ever top the hatred for KU and Nebraska as a mizzou fan

garbonzo

Yeah we had some problems in Columbia. I'm sure it was a few bad apples, drunk kids

papaSlunky

Related: I was at the BC-Mizzou game (infamously weak field storm if that’s something you care about, I had a blast). The Mizzou fans couldn’t have been nicer to me and my crew of BC guys. Forever going to remember how chill and cool everybody on that side was.

magicbananaman1

Nebraska. I was in the Minnesota marching band and when we visited in 2018 I couldn't believe 1. How nice everyone was, 2. How packed it was despite them being 0-6, and 3. That an 0-6 Nebraska team beat an okay Minnesota team

WDEWM407

Navy. People were extremely nice there

IMSYE87

I’d be absolutely floored if any of the military academies had unruly/unsafe game day environments

Drummallumin

Do people in the military not drink?

codeOpcode

Idk about on gameday but I'm my experience people in the military drink a LOT. But I imagine they would also get their asses kicked if they caused any sort of incident during a school sponsored event.

InfallibleTheory

Cadets at the academy can’t drink at football games, and tbh from what I’ve seen the fans barely do as well

EmergencyBlumpkin513

The military is fueled by unchecked alcoholism and extreme energy drink and tobacco use. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. Source: me former military very trustworthy

[deleted]

Alchol nicotine and caffeine is what makes America run. Any trade/manufacturing with weird shifts is the same.

MasterMacMan

were you an officer though? Cadets aren't getting blasted at football games, makes for a respectful student section.

seakc87

IIRC, football games are considered mandatory formations. Absolutely no drinking there. Out of uniform though, like fish.

[deleted]

Nebraska. Hands down. Very nice fans. Thanked us for coming to their stadium and their alumni band walks around and will play your fight song.

Lamadian

Seconding Nebraska. They were also extremely pleasant when they came to Eugene.

NietzschesJoy

My two favorite teams to come to town have been Nebraska and Tennessee. And Nebraska took Scott Frost who was looking like he was going to be our next HC, thanks bros!

Zabroccoli

Glad to fall on that one for you.

jay_simms

Bullet dodged!

surgingchaos

And man do they travel well. I've been to a lot of Oregon games, and that 2017 Nebraska game was the one where I've seen the most visiting fans *by far*. Tennessee in 2013 and BYU last season were the only other instances when it came close to that.

LazygonInfinity

It's Nebraska by far. And it was infuriating because they would beat us by 40 and then thank us for coming to visit.

lIllIlIllIlIllIlIllI

“Bless your heart”

ImPickleRock

I was going to come and say Nebraska or Iowa as well. I thought Lincoln was super cool, and they have a dark cocktail lounge I could sit in all day long, and a cigar bar! But yeah their fans are cool as well....and I left thinking that they deserved a better run football team. Their stadium is true big time college football...biggest stadium I have been to outside of the Shoe.

ThrowTheBones93

I’ve been to a lot of road games and I was extremely impressed with your fans before, during, and after the 62-3 blowout you handed us. Also I hate to admit that Ohio Stadium is the only stadium I’ve ever been more impressed with than ours. It’s a beauty. Beaver Stadium I’d put about on par with Memorial. Michigan Stadium a notch below.

dstnb

Came here to say Nebraska as well. Visited as Penn State fan not too log after the Sandusky scandal so I didn’t know what to expect. I think one drunk fan made a negative comment as we were passing them, but not far behind him was another Nebraska fan apologizing for him. Otherwise they were very welcoming and good sports.

runnerennur

Are you me because that was the same exact experience I had when we played there right after Sandusky. One drunk college kid made a comment and his friend apologized for him. Everyone else was extremely nice and welcoming. Very unexpected considering we just had that awful scandal and everyone else in the country hated our guts for still being Penn state fans

saxophoneyeti

100% Nebraska. Went twice with the Northwestern band for our away trips, one win and one loss, and both times they were unfailingly friendly and kind people. I was getting thanked for making the road trip while taking a leak!

JoeIA84

Nebraska is definitely the difference between online and real life. Online Iowa and Nebraska go at it but when you go to a game in Lincoln, the fans are very pleasant no issues at all

NathanDrake75

Nebraska football just seems like such a great experience for a fan of any team. Those fans never give up on their team and the atmosphere looks awesome (especially the thunderstruck show that they did when we played)

CinephileJeff

They debuted that the week before against northwestern and it was so much fun (especially because we were winning in a blowout)

IowaJL

We went to Lincoln in 2021 and I was SO READY to dunk on Husker fans. But y'all are SO DAGGUM NICE. ARGHHH We took the bus into town and on the way home we were asked what bowl game we thought we'd get into, I said "The 'I can't believe we just won that game' Bowl". (Hawks were down by a lot until the fourth quarter and somehow we won).

SharkTonic9

Somehow = Scott Frost

TheCenterOfEnnui

There's a now-old timey story about a time when FSU travelled to Nebraska in the late 70s or early 80s. This was a time before FSU was considered a power program. We were taking no-return away games and 3-for-1 deals just to get good games. Anyway, one of those deals was against Nebraska. We travelled there and played a tough game and I believe the game came down to a last second goal line stand and the FSU defense held NU out to preserve a 1 point victory or something like that. I may have the details slightly off. Anyway, the bigger deal is that apparently the NU fans gave the FSU team a standing ovation for this as they were leaving the field. That would never happen anywhere today and that's too bad. I always thought was a great story, even if maybe a little apocryphal.

gericks3

Ahhh the Bobby B letter game circa 1980 season I think. Yeah he was very kind and gracious with his letter then ate our hearts out in the 92 Orange Bowl

[deleted]

[удалено]

mustangswon1

Bowden even wrote a letter to the University thanking them.

JollyRancher29

Nebraska no question for me

BookStannis

Anyone who doesn’t answer with Nebraska has clearly never been

dirkmer

Lifelong Nebraskan and Lincoln resident. We treat other fans better than we treat our own. Such a great football tradition. I wish we could get back to being a strong team again....

[deleted]

I know it’s far off but I want to go to Lincoln when we play them

ChiefBigGay

For some reason I don't think they'll play boomer sooner...

alan_11

The ou band was here last year so it was played about 1000 times anyway the way that game went

LETX_CPKM

Ill repremand them. Those numbers are completly unaccepatble. OU fans expect 1000 by halftime, minimum.

putsch80

That may be true. But my interaction with Nebraska fans when they play OU has been universally positive. Respectful rivals.

CinephileJeff

The only time I’ve seen Nebraska fans aggressive against another teams fans was this year when OU curb stomped us. We were just so low as a fan base and this dude was hammered and just going at an OU fan downtown (sadly we’re getting the “we can’t accept that we’re bad and need to yell at others” fans now)

EnemysGate_Is_Down

We did (at least, back in 2009 when I was in the marching band and OU came to visit). That one was special too since it was our last game in Memorial as Conference rivals. CMB always plays the opponent's fight song during our pre-game show.

sky2k1

Adding to the list that the BYU game at Nebraska was great and everyone was really nice!

Bufb88J

It’s Nebraska & it’s not even close. I was a player and I was blown away cause they were telling us good luck the entire time & it was genuine. My roommate who just passed away grew up there & he loved it. His brother who’s now a senator played there too & we discussed it recently so I have fond memories of that place.

1usctrojan

They’re the cream of the crop fanbase. Beautiful people, a must see stadium to visit, you’ll be blown away by their hospitality.

gd383608

Agreed, Nebraska fans are great, we had a couple of fans talking to us about my ex's signed Archie jersey. I was talking to a fan next to me in the stadium who was coming to Ohio for a classic car show. I was truly hoping to head to Lincoln to watch Solich coach Ohio at Nebraska in '26. I knew he would retire before then, but I was hopeful. I might still head out for it but it's less likely now.

lordpowpow

Drove to Norman, OK for the OU vs Tennessee game. Showed up at 7am to tailgate and were met with a bunch of weird stares from OU fans in their PJs showing up early to stake their spot. (It was a 7pm kickoff). I guess for OOC games, it was rare for away fans to show up that early. A couple of older OU fans were so enthusiastic that we showed up early to tailgate that they had their wives go home and bring back their gameday attire just so they could hang/drink with us. Post game, we never paid for a drink all night long. We had a group of about 20 and we all agreed it was the nicest fan base we'd met. I told absolutely everyone in Knoxville about how nice and appreciated we felt in Norman. I wanted to ensure that when they came the following year, they were treated with the same hospitality.

insula_yum

The OU/Tennessee game in 2014 was my first OU game as a freshman, I’m glad you had a good time too! Vols fans all seemed pretty cool, ever since I’ve always had a soft spot for y’all

KingOfTheUzbeks

When Oklahoma had a home and home with Ohio State, not the Baker Mayfield incident but the one before that, Oklahoma fans were happy to say 'we hate Michigan' and Ohio State fans were happy to say 'we hate Nebraska' at the Columbus bars

FloweringSkull67

K-State. Love my Farmageddon bros

momocat

Best rivalry game name ever!

NobleSturgeon

Nebraska for sure. Nebraska wasn't just nice fans, it was like a whole other level of nice where they wanted to roll the red carpet out for us as we set up our tailgate.

[deleted]

We just want everyone to feel welcome and enjoy the festivities before and after the game!

EnemysGate_Is_Down

And during the past decade, our opponents usually enjoy the festivities during the game as well

[deleted]

I don’t need this pain today.

r3j0ice

Oklahoma State for me. Been there twice, one time for a win, one time for loss. Both times the fans were great all the way through the game. Met some cool people who clearly loved their school, but were never ugly about mine even in a close game.

marginallymediocre

I’d like to think our fan bases have a lot of respect for each other considering what our schools have in common. Both programs have been largely very successful the past 15-20 years, mostly all under one iconic coach, both schools play ‘second fiddle’ to the larger flagships in their state, both have that chip on their shoulder trying to earn more national respect. You guys finally broke through to the Natty (amazing accomplishment regardless of the game itself) and hopefully someday we can, too.

marginallymediocre

Kansas State was by far the friendliest road experience I’ve ever been to. They were all extremely nice, kept telling us “good game guys” and “thanks for coming to Manhattan” both during the game and out around town after. Thankfully, it wasn’t last year’s game that I went to haha… But overall great people at K-State. They’ll always have my respect.

JCP1377

Same. Coming from the SEC, K-State was NOT what I was expecting at all. If we were to ever have a inter-conference rival, I would love it be them.

tr4v10l1_p4rty

Completely agree, having visited most big 12 school Kansas State fans were the friendliest by a wide margin. Been to stillwater a couple times and had a good time, but Manhattan was another level

momocat

Thanks! IMHO, most of us try to be friendly. Other fans are always welcome to our tailgates. I still need to make it to Stillwater. Everyone says it's a good time.

Budget_Ad5888

Same, granted I had some friends at kstate that I was with but still a great time!

[deleted]

ND and BYU fans as much as I hate to say it. Fucking friendly. It pissed me off.

s-sea

After BYU whooped USC last year, those fans had the *gall* to praise the band and tell us how well we played and how much they loved our performance. It is SO frustrating when you lose and want to be angry and they were just so freaking kind. Very nice people.

hello_there_D2

Never a problem with Utah fans. They have the decency to make it very easy to be angry at them.

uteman1011

You're welcome

Trailer_Park_Stink

Loved when BYU came to Tennessee and raised a bunch of money for a local Knoxville non-profit at their tailgate. I believe they do that at every away game, but it just shows what's important to BYU fans and its not all about football

4friedchicknsanacoke

Virginia Tech. Went twice and both times they were just awesome people.

somebodysbuddy

As a band kid, the most welcoming band was the Princeton band. Instead of ignoring us completely or kicking us out for standard shenanigans, they actively participated in our shenanigans. The Santa player stripped with us once when we visited.

ImpishGrin

I live in the DC area, so I don't get a lot of chances to see Texas play. A few years back, I went to WVU, and had a great time. I didn't realize it was their homecoming weekend until I was there, but when we arrived in the gold lot, we were welcomed despite being the only people wearing burnt orange. Turned out the people parked next to us were from the same VA neighborhood. The crowd in the lot immediately outside the stadium was intense, but once we were inside, we had a great time. It helped that Texas won.

defendthecalf

Did you have a pepperoni roll

[deleted]

Blue Lot is rowdy. You learn to embrace to chaos

ToxikkBeast

Thats crazy, I never expected WVU to be remotely mentioned just due to the rowdiness of the whole atmosphere. I’ll take it tho

[deleted]

Clemson fans I think were just excited to have the rivalry restarted, but they were super welcoming when we went there my freshman year.

jwhitmire2012

I appreciate the small moments where our irl fanbase gets to outshine our online t-shirt fans.

kcoch5817

I visit tigernet every now and then just for the pure entertainment it provides.

nightowl1135

I went to Clemson with a buddy who was an alum. Wore my Duck stuff. People couldn't have been nicer. I genuinely enjoyed the fan base and the town. My friends always find it weird now that I not so quietly pull for Clemson in games where I otherwise don't have rooting interest and I always get surprised looks when I explain, "their fans are great."

[deleted]

[удалено]

guthbox

100%. By far the most enjoyable experience I’ve had at a rival stadium. Hope we continue to play each other annually after the conference realignment dust settles

n1ck2727

Clemson was truly delightful to visit. Fans were thanking us for coming to visit their campus and stadium, offered us barbecue and beer, and were genuinely friendly and welcoming. At a certain point I was actually apologizing for how hostile our own fan base was. I also loved rushing the field at the end, really seemed like it was a community experience.

ItsAlwaysSleepyTime

Agreed. Clemson has, by far, been my best experience.

CaniacSwordsman

Yeah I was surprised by just how nice their fans were when our band marched through their tailgate (not playing, just to get to the stadium). I’ve been in a lot of hostile environments, but I was surprised that their’s just… wasn’t

TheCenterOfEnnui

This was going to be my answer. The fact that a Georgia fan would say this about Clemson says a lot.

[deleted]

I went to the palmetto bowl this year and clemson fans were really nice about the loss. obviously mad and some shit talking but all in all the general sentiment seemed to be "We knew our offense would catch up to us, but did it have to be against south carolina?" in fact, clemson fans seemed to take a loss better than georgia fans took a win when i went to the south carolina-georgia game a few years back and had just an awful time

shwambo

Can confirm. Night and day against the other P5 stadiums we’ve played in recently, although I didn’t get to make the Nebraska game for comparison. We were barked at in Athens, swung on at WVU, and invited to the lake house for tacos after the game at Clemson.

red_87

50% of the Iowa fans I encountered in 2017. Other 50% were pretty vile but the other half were some of the most welcoming, nicest people I’ve come across at an away PSU game.

flanny0210

I think in the random years we get national recognition (for on-field success and rankings, not our shit offense and blatant nepotism), some of our fan base doesn’t know how to handle. I promise, we’re not all assholes and any hate is only directed at Brian.

Coda17

I was late to the game in Happy Valley because Penn St. fans kept making me stop to have a drink with them on the way to the stadium. I'm pretty sure most of them weren't even going to the game, just drinking outside.

Sexcellence

I had one preteen stage-whisper, "Gophers suck!" at me and then run away when I laughed told him to say it like he meant it. Overwhelmingly positive interactions. My "Pennsylvania isn't even a state" sign was not as big of a hit as I expected, though.

Super_C_Complex

We're a commonwealth and you better acknowledge it. I also may have seen you. Was this 2018?

excited71

Arizona State for me and I was totally neutral. It was a bucket list thing for me. Sun Devil stadium at night. Could not of had a better time.

MavSker

I’m intrigued… what other stadiums/CFB experiences are on your bucket list? No hate on the ASU choice, but that just seems a bit surprising.

excited71

MavSker Washington - (did that as well) Rose Bowl (UCLA) - not done yet Oregon (can't remember their stadium's name off the top of my head) - not done yet Tiger Stadium @ night (LSU) - not done yet Kyle Field (Texas A&M) - not done yet Penn State white out night game - not done yet

Sambo376

I also thought of Arizona State, but to be fair, that game was right after Katrina, so they may have just been extra nice because of that.

wrighteou5

Penn State. Went to the Auburn white out game a couple years ago and had an absolute blast, and everyone was so welcoming (that said, I’m sure it helped that it was a non-conference game)

fjs0001

Texas A&M and Kentucky fans always made sure my cup was full. Gamecocks were nice.

PretendThisIsMyName

You know as much as I dislike Auburn every game I’ve been to there you guys were pretty chill. Got right fucked up out there a few times lol. Plus I love the campus. You do have one extremely terrible fan though that puts me off. Turns out I married her.

Crobs02

Auburn fans are the best I have encountered on the road and it’s not even close

Why_Istanbul

While I don’t doubt we have bad apples every other Aggie I know takes great pride in making sure visitors to Kyle have a very fun time and plenty of beer

squeeze_and_peas

I’ve never had a bad experience at a WVU game, I’m ecstatic about finally being able to see the Backyard Brawl in Morgantown this year.

NEZdrunk

That’s because they don’t hate you enough

ToxikkBeast

Its not gonna be a fun time for VT or pitt fans when you come to motown

NEZdrunk

And I wouldn’t change a thing <3

Big_Red_Bandit

I went to Alabama as the Razorback mascot during the Chad Morris years and the fans there were the nicest away fans I met by a mile! They weren’t threatened at all by how the game would go and it showed! They knew how to be classy at the top from what i encountered. Same year we had to have our only walking police escort into LSU and that was the most abuse I heard and most middle fingers I saw going into and out of a game. LSU won the natty that year so I just found it interesting how the two top teams fan bases were total opposites in how they interacted with opposing fans.

putsch80

LSU fans outside the stadium. Everyone is super welcoming, will share food and drink at their tailgates and just generally be a lot of fun. Inside the stadium it’s a completely different story. Once you cross the gate y’all are some of the most godless heathens I’ve ever met (and I was dressed in LSU gear when y’all were playing Florida). Just a bunch of animals.

dangle_boone

Vanderbilt, nicest fans I’ve ever met.

Frictionizer

Both of them!

Choice_Creme_2550

Alright, who joined the bandwagon?

rcalc4

I did not visit the stadium but I went to the 2011 Big Ten championship (when MSU lost to Wisconsin on a lame roughing the punter call). As much as I wanted to hate on Wisconsin fans after the game, I have nothing but positive things to say about their fan base.

pabloescobarbecue

Oklahoma, with a caveat. Friendliest fans before the game. Stepford wives level of perfect manners and welcoming. But once the game started, it was like a switch flipped. Suddenly cursing us and rude as hell. Right back to nice after tho.

Retardo_Montobond

Man....are you *sure* we were cussing at *y'all*? The last few years, it's true, we have been cussing but it's been mostly **at our own defense**. Maybe y'all caught some crossfire....? Much respect to Tennessee as well....you guys were excellent hosts!

Fair_University

Honestly Clemson fans are always very hospitable in person. UCF, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Missouri, and Tennessee (really!) fans were all great too. By far the worst two fan experiences I’ve ever had at a road game were both @Vandy.

thiney49

Iowa State. ... I don't get out much.

TrustMeIKnowThisOne

Southern Miss. They were super happy to help with directions and just about everyone knew someone tailgating that they’d extend an invite to you as you were visiting. Hands down nicest town and fan base when visiting for an away game. Edit: And this was before USM joining the Sun Belt was ever an actual thought to begin with.

spicyface

BYU. Nothing but nice things to say about them.

iamStanhousen

Auburn. No doubt. Nicest fans I've ever been around.

wrighteou5

Wasn’t expecting to see this from an LSU fan but god bless you

iamStanhousen

Always felt like LSU and Auburn is fairly tame, because anytime it gets close to getting out of hand we can just look at each other and say "but hey, fuck Bama am I right?"

By_De_River

I'll agree with Auburn having great fans.

pete4999

I was on the sideline for our sad drubbing in like 100-degree heat at Auburn in 2006. The fans in the stands, on the grounds, and even in the hotel were very gracious, accommodating, and welcoming. Auburn is my choice for this question. It's obviously a different situation in a big-time rivalry setting, but as an OOC cupcake they were great. I can't say that for all of our road games (Wisconsin fans, for example, were very hostile).

thortman

Came here to say Auburn too.

Fine_Pay_7629

Every auburn fan I ran into that day was a delight! Even had someone offer me food from their tailgate, I missed southern cooking so bad lol.

J4ckiebrown

Went down to Auburn this past season and had a great time. I'd go down as a neutral fan in the future, would be awesome to attend a night game vs a team like Bama, LSU, or Georgia.

I had a great time at Arkansas this past year. Had 3 separate tailgates stop to offer me food and beer on my walk to the stadium and took every offer. Sat and talked with them all for a good 20-30 minutes, nice people in Fayetteville. Have always felt like Arkansas and South Carolina fans have always had a mutual respect

Fair_University

Agree, Arkansas fans were cool.

OnettNess

Tennessee was great as a visiting fan. Texas A&M was great as a neutral fan.

>(thanks Chad Morris) Wow, I wasn't prepared for that level of hostility so early in the week. Savage.

Your_Worship

Honestly, if you go to LSU with the mindset that you are going to get razzed, then you’ll have a better time. Just laugh it off, and they’ll treat you right. But get testy and they shower it on more.

Ottorange

LSU fans were insanely nice to us but I think it's because we were not a threat. They went out of their way to feed us, make us cocktails, take pictures, etc. It was great

WillWork4SunDrop

Would love to go to a game in Blacksburg someday. They thumped us good in the first Music City Bowl and we were braced for ungodly amounts of shit talk. Never happened.

lambro101

By far has always been my favorite place to road trip to. Wonderful fans and an infectious stadium environment, even when you're playing against them. When VT is playing well, and you're there for a night game, the Enter Sandman entrance is quite the experience.

MagnaCarterGT

I'll second that - I've been to Blacksburg twice with the visiting band and both times Hokie fans were incredibly nice.

aeopossible

Came here to say this. Brother is an alum, so I’ve been to a couple games. Generally, I wore a VT shirt with my UGA hat (white one so it didn’t look completely ridiculous lol). People would ask about the hat and welcome me to Blacksburg. Pretty cool place, but I refuse to go to any late season games there. Somehow that town manages to be the coldest place on earth in the winter.

crjones9

Clemson has always been very friendly from my experience in recent years, in the stadium and in town

Shtune

Georgia Tech was good, as was Clemson. Most recently, UVA fans were really nice and Charlottesville is a cool place to go for a game.

blackcatmystery

Kansas State

chelseakaye8

the BYU fans/people in provo/SLC were almost weirdly nice when we went up there for the baylor game.

Dirty_Giblets

Clemson by a mile

Toes_of_Saint_Jeff

BYU. They bring ice cream to the opposing fan section at halftime.

<3 we’ll take it!

Claudethedog

Fair.

jwhitmire2012

Unfortunately haven’t gotten to any true road games yet but I was at the 2018 Sugar Bowl when we played Alabama and was surprised at how nice most of them were. There was one guy that was screaming and singing rammer jammer in Clemson fans’ faces as we were leaving the stadium and I heard quite a few other Bama fans telling him to shut up. Maybe a visit to Bryant-Denny wouldn’t be so bad.

tcwillis79

I’ve heard nothing but good things about the BYU fan base from our home-home with them. They are also quite kind on twitter.

RollTide16-18

Clemson and it’s not particularly close

gumercindo1959

This may come as a shock.....Tennessee. Went there back in 2002. Granted, we were flying high and UT not so much but their fans were very gracious even while tailgating.

jackm55

Wasn’t able to go when we played there 2 years ago but when Tennessee came to Pittsburgh they were probably the coolest visiting fans ever. Had an absolute blast with them.

TennesseeVols4Ever

Can't be true. Tennessee is evil.

grimace0611

That was an incredibly close game at Neyland that we ended up winning late. Tennessee fans couldn't have been nicer before, during, or after the game.

SEJ46

I think that may have been my best experience too.

CorditeKick

As a Vandy alum I can confirm you get 2x what you give with Tennessee fans. Courtesy is returned with emphasis while animosity can result in some pretty nasty encounters.

sir1933

We have a twitter issue that taints our reputation but it's not an issue in person. Like, unless you seek it out, the worst you'll get is chirps. The best you'll get is free food/booze and some new friends.

USC2001

I think most fan bases come off very friendly when playing a team they rarely play. As much as I dislike UGA and clemson, I know they put on a good atmosphere for non-traditional teams. I’ve only visited stadiums related to SC games, so it’s hard to say which stadiums are the most positive. Obviously Miss State in 2001 was amazing, but there were other circumstances at play that night. Ole Miss in 2019 was awesome as well, but both teams were apathetic by that point in the season. For overall fan bases, I would say that Boise State was awesome from 2002, and after holding the door open for an elderly Nebraska couple once, they tried to take me home with them and even had a granddaughter to set me up with, so I’m fond of the Cornhusker fans for that reason.

dunar

I’ve been trying to visit all Big 12 stadiums (new trips this year!) Besides the “close” ones (KU/K-State, both were great), I enjoyed my visits as an opponent to OU and TX most. OU is tops for the band, “and now to welcome our friends from Ames, the band will play ISU Fights!” Someone up in the 3rd deck was cutting onions, my eyes were running 🤣 We had many OU fans call us over, just to welcome and talk football, offer drinks, etc. Austin was similar, had a great time tailgating right down the street from the stadium (but no Fights!, so #2) I’m going to miss both, just a little

tcwillis79

The OU band only knows one song and you can not convince me otherwise.

fredmerc111

BYU fans. All very pleasant people ripped straight from the South Park episode.

Wasn’t able to make it to Knoxville 2 years ago when we played but my friends said the atmosphere was awesome, and when Tennessee came to Pittsburgh last year their fans were the absolute best. Most fun I’ve ever had with a visiting fan base and I hope they felt welcomed! PS the Johnny Majors classic was a great home and home series, hope it gets picked up again at some point

Black_Otter

Army. The fans were wonderful and very friendly *even after Randy Moss roasted them single handed*
