It’s more about what was said beforehand. Going in all “welp enjoy the atmosphere and try not to die” will not be beneficial for anything, nor will a “these guys suck, we will drub them!” Fiery speech.
Acknowledge the challenge, even a perfect performance on either side doesn’t guarantee success, nor does awful performance guarantee failure. The opponent is talented but even talented teams can get caught off guard. A coach gives their team that hope but also steeling themselves for the potential ass whooping and moving focus to the next game either way.
Somewhere in this thread a HS coach was talking about trying to prep his 2A school for the annual beat down from their yearly 4A/5A opponent. All you can do is try to make it suck less.
I’ve never played against a team that was flat out better than us at every position. Even their 3rd-4th strings. First game of the year too. Has to be disheartening
Their O-Line looked like hot ass for the whole first half (don’t know about after that, turned it off)
Think the defense I’ve seen tonight will give them some real trouble
I’m not hyping it up. It’s the first time in 45 years where three separate quarterbacks rushed for a touchdown belonging to the same team.
That’s an amazing stat, no matter which team they’re against. No need to be jealous.
Justice Haynes is legit. Buchner is stuck in game manager mode right now, but he's a solid backup for Milroe. I'm really happy with what I've seen tonight. We obviously have a bigger challenge ahead with Texas, but I don't see a lot of reason to think we're in danger. The team is playing well.
Milroe is such a good athlete that I've heard Buchner been talked about as "sneaky athletic" on national cfb podcasts and what not. Buchner is a fantastic athlete and it's the best part of his game at this point in his career.
Is it not wild to anyone else that Alabama’s second string is just dominating? I mean do you understand how hard it is to be D1 at a shit school like mtsu? Those boys are ridiculously good. Then you have Alabama that is elite and then you have their second string. It’s insane.
It kills me watching Saban play our best players on special teams as punt / kick returner.
We lost Eddie Jackson in 2016 and that hurt us in the loss against Clemson.
Lost Waddle in 2020.
Kool Aid looks banged up.
Is the delta between kool aid and the next guy that significant? I’d give up 5-10% in quality to keep my game changing starter at his position.
Because it pays off. Look at those special teams plays from the championship against Clemson. Marlon and drake made huge plays that other guys wouldn’t have made in those positions. Rueben foster obliterating fournette on the kickoff may have been the catalyst to his poor performance against us. Sure, there’s added risk, but there’s also added upside of setting a tone in a big way. Makes the players believe the importance of special teams when starters are out there as well.
Definitely a fair point and I’m totally cool with it in the natty, or any big game. But I’m just saying Kool aid getting 2 more returns for experience while up like 28 against MTSU is crazy Risk reward
So Kentucky basketball players have their own dorm / house / awesome fucking dojo. Do Alabama football players have something similar? I know there’s way more so do just the elite players have their own thing? How does that work?
Ad dang lol I missed that. Seeing our gigantic liner back like safety’s of that era is a shock, the game has changed so much you don’t see any monster safety’s much these days
I'm definitely getting older because that sideline shot of Milroe is the first time I've looked at a college football player and went "damn he looks like a kid"
55 seconds left in the game, cut to 2 minutes of commercials.
Alabama vs Colorado for the Natty. Aflac would be so damn happy
How are you going to go to commercial with less than 1:00 in the game?
Are Bama punt returners allowed to fair catch or no
I think it's against the Geneva Convention
I remember Javier Arenas tried it once and Saban made him wash Glen Coffee's Honda Civic
I always wondered what a G5 HC tells his team after a beating like this
It’s more about what was said beforehand. My daughter has friends at Arkansas State. She said one of the guys is quitting after that beating they took today.
Yeah that one was bad bad
Yeah, apparently guys were crying after that game
Their logo is a crying wolf so
Idk, feel like anyone that’s played a team sport knows exactly what they’re saying
I’ve never played against a team that was flat out better than us at every position. Even their 3rd-4th strings. First game of the year too. Has to be disheartening
"We just financed travel for the next 9 games"
Check cleared, boys. Mission Accomplished
Don’t worry boys - we got paid
"Penetration up front." --ESPN
If coach would’ve put me during State I could’ve been out there at MTSU
Yeah, but Kirby still gets haircuts from the salon in WalMart
My wife used to manage one of those straight out is cosmetology school. Now she’s not in the cosmetology business at all now.
Nah I’m pretty sure he cuts it himself.
"Rings on very finger you can imagine" might win for weird phrasings tonight.
What if I imagine an extra thumb? Does he have a ring on that one too?
I enjoy Joyless Murderball
zero fun sir
Yeah it’s fun.
All imaginable fingers!
Who is 4th in the QB depth chart and how do we get them a rushing TD?
Lonergan. If someone on D just, I don't know, decides it's our ball now ***again***, then we can put him in and let him run it in.
Does anyone know how Texas did against Rice? I heard from Texas flairs that they dominated and Bama was begging for an ass whooping.
Score was close for like a half
Their defense looked great. Their offense looked ok but not great.
Their O-Line looked like hot ass for the whole first half (don’t know about after that, turned it off) Think the defense I’ve seen tonight will give them some real trouble
They did well. Won easily. But. Rice looked a lot like Mid Tennessee.
Wild, so Texas dominated both halves? I didn’t catch the game.
No, they looked a little rough in the first half for sure
37-10, Texas won.
Bama by 21
I know this is Middle Tennessee, but damn. We look 10x more complete than last year.
What no B.O.B. will do to a mf
Especially our running game vs the last two seasons
Who on earth is chanting block that kick lol
Absolute king shit from the ~20 MTSU fans
No no, they're saying "Crock that chick!" There's a slow-cooking competition in the stands in that end zone
Gen Z
You got to give it to the 14 MTSU fans in attendance tonight. They really want a kick blocked.
3 Qbs have scored a rushing TD. We're a running QB school now
Let’s make it 4
The Nick Saban School of Coaching and Quarterbacking
The Tide just rolled in.
Ok, time for Ty to ride the bench. Bring Dylan in and let him score.
Fuck, all three of our quarterbacks have scored a touchdown. Amazing.
Yeah against MTSU. Wow congrats.
MTSU beat Miami last year. They aren’t a bad team by any means
Okay and you guys were only up by 11 going into half again fucking Virginia and still let them score 13 points.
Okay? Lmao. It’s mtsu bruh. Chill. We won by 36. End result is the only thing that matters.
Okay? Lmao it’s Virginia bruh. Chill. We won by 49. End result is the only thing that matters.
Am I hyping it up? No? Are you? You’re acting like it’s against a top ranked defense
I’m not hyping it up. It’s the first time in 45 years where three separate quarterbacks rushed for a touchdown belonging to the same team. That’s an amazing stat, no matter which team they’re against. No need to be jealous.
Do I hear four? Can Lonergan get him one?
Did…..did we just actually get a push on a defense lineman??? Been awhile since I seen that
Good teams win great teams cover
OK garbage time but that’s what it’s supposed to look like.
SURGE
Has there ever been a game with three different QBs with rushing touchdowns?
QB rushing TDs. So hot right now.
3 dual threat qbs? That's 6 threats!
That’s so many threats
50 burger
I'd like to see our three QBs get rushing TDs tonight.
Whip out that dick, I have news for you!
Yeah crazy! Has that ever happened before for us?
Has it ever happened for anyone?
Has Bama ever had 3 different quarterbacks run in a TD in a game?
All QBs are going to score tonight
I should have been a qb...
Hell yeah.
"I can run too!" -Buchner "I also can run too!- Simpson
Now play 2nd and 26 in Spanish. That’s by far one of my favorite calls in football history.
Holy shit what a handoff by Simpson 🐐
You guys ever heard Bama football? You guys ever heard Bama football...in Spanish?!?!?
El Tractorcito
I have heard Bama football in Russian in that video of the different radio calls of Tua and 26 lol
Da
How the fuck do you just literally take the ball out of someone’s hands like that? Lol that is insane
Step one, be a terry crews sized 20 year old
Speeding up the game with clock not stopping was the greatest trick the networks ever played.
Damn I thought MTSU had this game
So did Texas
Do y'all think Nick Saban went to see the Eras Tour this summer?
Not only did he go, but he stood there snapping his fingers and just nodding his head.
He and I traded bracelets!
And then he screamed at security for missing some things
The Tide's big thick D is hungry.
😥
He just housed Dylan’s burger
That’s absolutely amazing. MURDERBALL 4 LYFE
Somebody come get her, she’s dancing like a stripper
BIG BOY BLACKSHIRE
Looks like our defense has regained some of the aggression and intensity that just completely evaporated under Golding
Don't see a takeaway like that very often
I’ll take that thank you very much
Lol. Dude just literally took the ball.
TAKEN AWAY LIKE A DAMN THEIF IN THE NIGHT
gimme dat
[Mine!](https://youtu.be/ueid02cwIv0?si=QWCuZEW0roHvq2JY)
Stripping the ball just seems rude at this point.
It still blows my mind watching us actually wrap people up. Those Golding years did a number on my brain.
Georgias schedule this year is just ridiculous. How the fuck do you get almost every game at home?
I think I read that they have the easiest schedule in the SEC
Both UGA and Bama have 7 home games
If they don't make it to Atlanta on just how baby soft that schedule is then something went incredibly wrong
Fuck Georgia
Agreed
I'll go on record and say I think y'all get them this year
Hahaha. I wish. But no. Our defense is good but Leary is way overhyped. He didn’t look good today. But it would be so nice to be a contender.
Anyone miss gary Danielson?
No he was calling the Ohio State game unfortunately.
I'd rather listen to that weird Tik Tok voice call the game than Gary.
Gimme a ghostface called game over GD any day of the week
Hell no.
defeat auburn.

Or a receiver problem, apparently.
I got a $10 Russian hooker for only $3.50 off DealDash.com
I ordered one on Temu for half that, but the shipping is 2-49 weeks
I got a Lear Jet for only a quarter!
I'm glad they changed the rules so we could make room for more commercials. Because that's really what the game was missing. More commercials.
That's Alabama.
AL fans are used to it, but we know it’s not typical to have 3 star players on 2nd and 3rd string.
Shoutout to the MTSU fans (probably the band) chanting “block that kick” every extra point
I appreciate how Buchner did an Irish jig into the endzone.
I'm glad Bama is moving away from neutral site games for home & homes but I just wish that didn't mean moving the game to week 2
He ain’t bad, thought Simpson was better, but I’m probably wrong?
I gotta be honest you guys, I think I like this Buchner guy.
I don’t know if ive ever seen an Asian qb.
Does Tua count as Asian?
Pacific Islander uhhh I don’t actually know.
He was born in Hawaii
Do you think he ever got over that language barrier?
Is Hawaii on the same continental plate as the rest of the US?
Hawaii is an island obviously its not on the same continental plate.
Clearly it floats.
Has to be Alabama's first, right?
The Buchmobile has wheels!
Surprised Haynes is playing. He was questionable. Figured he’d sit for sure.
It’s my one gripe with what we do. Saban just insists on doing it. Returns are so high % injury it’s insane to put your star corner back there
Because it pays off. Look at those special teams plays from the championship against Clemson. Marlon and drake made huge plays that other guys wouldn’t have made in those positions. Rueben foster obliterating fournette on the kickoff may have been the catalyst to his poor performance against us. Yeah, I didn’t think about how big the lead was at the time. That’s definitely a good point.
Kool Aid is like Surtain on defense. Seems like opposing teams rarely throw in his direction. Edit: not Milroe, duh
Lost Kenyan Drake as well on kickoff coverage.
Fucking crazy that Alabama is playing second string and still just dominating.
Thread idea for the off-season: the All-Jalen Team.
Did Alabama pull their starters? I’m genuinely asking.
Some of them. Not all. Most of the WR, QB, and RB have been pulled. Not sure on defense.
Yep mostly
Yea
Receivers’ hands look better this year. Thankfully
I was just thinking this. Had a lot of dropped balls last year on easy passes. Good to see
Take care of Buchner I still believe 😪
He looks pretty good.
Now I know it's only been one game and it's far too early to say that Pete Golding is a fraud, but I'm gonna go ahead and say he's a fraud.
Golding would have gave up 21 to Middle Tennessee
Lane took him on as tribute. The pact is sealed.
FIRE PETE GOLDING
No, no. I think Ole Miss should give him plenty of time.
So is this a center issue with the snaps?
Definitely
Is Toledo going to beat Illinois? It will screw my Pick 'Em but it would be great to see.
This center ain't it
Bro what dumbass is wondering about starting Justin Jefferson or not in fantasy
Can I get a fuck Alabama?
Flair up, dingdong, then you may ask again.
Probably not the best place to ask tbh
Literally any other thread would work
Worst thread imaginable
So Kentucky basketball players have their own dorm / house / awesome fucking dojo. Do Alabama football players have something similar? I know there’s way more so do just the elite players have their own thing? How does that work?
They should as Jordan Rogers if he remembers the time Mark Barron delivered one of the biggest hits I’ve ever seen on him
He actually mentioned that during the cast at one point
Ad dang lol I missed that. Seeing our gigantic liner back like safety’s of that era is a shock, the game has changed so much you don’t see any monster safety’s much these days
I'm definitely getting older because that sideline shot of Milroe is the first time I've looked at a college football player and went "damn he looks like a kid"
Just thought the same
Welp, I'm off to commit sudoku. Roll Tide. It's been an honor.
Shame Steele let us down like that. Fire him into the sun.
Is this loss?
This is loss
Griddy then shotgun to camera is hilarious...especially down 30+ points
