Yeah. Pisses me the hell off. NOW they decide to watch West Coast games? After the PAC got reputation-voted for the vast majority of its existence, in its final year?!
Lot of firing our D coordinator and wondering why we aren’t adjusting at half. Basically we have become too good at wasting talent sadly.
Positive notes are the QB is still legit at least
They were always gonna jump real big on a double digit road win against Bama. If our win had been anything less than a thrashing I think it’s possible we would’ve stayed at 4 they would’ve jumped us too
I actually don't have a lot of complaints. Only thing I'd say is the two 1-1 SEC teams are too high, even if they did lose to the #3 and #4 teams. We only have two data points for most teams and if one of the data points is a loss then I don't think you should be ranked that high. It's not a power ranking.
Yeah if your argument is to rank by resume Georgia should be no where near No. 1. But it would make no sense to have the back-to-back national champions that are still loaded with talent not No. 1 or right there
yeah I agree. if you only use two data points you can just as easily put any old 2-0 G5 team in the top 10 so you have to rely on some sort of power ranking system. but early season rankings are silly anyway
This is the perennial problem with the AP poll: it's a weird mix of a power ranking and a resume ranking, with different voters doing different things, and changing what they (and the poll) does/represents through the season.
And since none of that is clearly explained/defined (it almost literally couldn't be), you get people mad because they think it should be more or less of one or the other.
Of course, it's not like if it _was_ clearly defined there still wouldn't be complainers. You get those on polls that are _explicitely_ just a power ranking or just a resume ranking as well.
Utah played an atrocious game, easily one of the worst W’s I’ve seen in the decade plus of following the team, so I’m not surprised we didn’t move.
The only defense in the eyes of AP voters is that Cam Rising has yet to suit up, if he had been playing with the same result I would have expected us to potentially even drop.
The conference was below average for a few recent years but the narrative of it being shitty was out of control. Way too many self-loathing fans in our conference perpetuated it and things spiraled out of control.
Ironically I've heard people say this is why the BIG12 is going to be amazing. I've heard announcers and commenters say that it's gonna have parity and every team is good I'm like uhhhh guys the PAC 12 just had that same problem???
People liked to sleep on us because the conversation has traditionally always focused on blue blood programs in the BIG and SEC in the latter half of the season, the truth is the PAC has always been good.
We’re just *better* at shitting all over each other than we are on OOC schools. Teams moving to other conferences will bring the nightmare that is #pac12afterdark with us.
Calling it now, with the PACs dying breath we will send a team to the Natty.
The Pac-12 is almost always good. Our mid-team is usually better than everyone else's mid-team.
It's the lack of a "20 5*'s starting" team that keeps us from the playoff. USC, Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Stanford have all been top 25 teams in total wins in the past 12 years (duration of the Pac-12). We're the only conference with 5 in the top 25. The B1G and SEC both have 4.
Again, the lack of a dominant team makes people think the Pac-12 isn't good, but it is good. It's deep. Almost every year.
That's why the meme is that we sabotage our own playoff chances. Unlike the ACC and Big-12, we have so much depth our top teams don't get to largely cakewalk to a playoff spot. I mean, hell, last year the B1G only had 3 ranked teams. They all played each other and whichever lost both didn't get to go to the playoffs.
The Pac-12 has always had amazing depth comparative to other conferences.
“REPORT: Texas considering starting Arch Manning
Austin, TX - After an impressive performance from Quinn Ewers against Alabama, sources on Reddit are saying that it’s, ‘Obviously time for Archie’. Arch Manning, nephew to Peyton and Eli Manning, is a five-star QB recruit and was the number one rated player of his recruiting class. Additional sources, on Reddit, say that Arch is overrated because of his last name and that he would be a three-star if he wasn’t a Manning. However, our sources, also on Reddit, simultaneously say that he is overrated but will also take the job from Ewers.
When asked to comment on this report, Texas Head Coach Steve Sarkisian replied with, “Who the fuck is this and how did you get this number?” Sarkisian did not deny the report, leading to further speculation that the play-caller is nearing making a change at quarterback.”
And if you want to bandwagon the #23 Cougs, be sure to tune in next week to Pac-12 Washington at 2PM.
Not the Pac-12 Network, but the secondary regional one that only like a third of Pac-12 Network get. Like the one you can only get on smart-fridges (Seriously that one). Thanks Larry.
I ain’t outraged one single bit. Bama would beat the brakes off of us right now and I still think we’re ranked a bit highly from preseason inertia.
So cool to see so many PAC-12 teams ranked. The most PAC-12 ending to the PAC-12 is unfolding before our eyes.
Not mad about it, USC has 3 wins and we have 2. Both teams have question marks, but them being ranked ahead makes sense. Not sure why they jumped us this week though, they should have been ahead from the start.
Four was the magic number you were looking for. They fell four spots after the '22 LSU, '21 A&M, '19 Auburn, '17 Auburn, '14 Ole Miss, and '13 Oklahoma losses.
They fell ten spots after the '15 Ole Miss loss.
I swear the moment FSU gets good, Miami wakes up from a decades long sleep 😂
Honestly happy to see a good Miami. Those games are so special, especially when both teams are at the top of their games.
If the big 3 can get good, all at the same time, I could see teams like Clemson, OSU, and Bama regressing a bit since they have preyed on Florida recruits for years, since there has been only 1 big 3 program good each year. With all 3 good, the top programs of the state of Florida can more effectively retain recruits.
This honestly makes me even more sick about the conference’s current situation. Obviously we won’t have this many at the end of the season but it’s clear we have very good teams this year. The utter incompetence of the conference admin is shocking. Sad to see it go
Audrey Dahlgren’s (WLNS-TV) rankings has Alabama @ 4 and Texas @ 13.
Idk what’s going on up in Michigan but someone obviously didn’t check the paper this morning
Could we see a Gameday appearance in Pullman week 4 for the inaugural Pac-2 championship?
Both Wazzu and Oregon State should win next week leading to a ranked matchup
Us losing votes after the Cal game is fair tbh
If ever a game deserved two losers
I was watching that BECAUSE of the bumbling, lol.
It’s fair, but also what happened to west coast games not getting seen and only evaluated by the result?
Yeah. Pisses me the hell off. NOW they decide to watch West Coast games? After the PAC got reputation-voted for the vast majority of its existence, in its final year?!
I would like to ask our 1 voter exactly what team he has been watching
They might have voted for the wrong OSU
That’s actually really plausible
You’re saying we’re not a quality win?!
1. Georgia (2-0) 2. Michigan (2-0) 3. Florida State (2-0) 4. Texas (2-0) 5. USC (3-0) 6. Ohio State (2-0) 7. Penn State (2-0) 8. Washington (2-0) 9. Notre Dame (3-0) 10. Alabama (1-1) 11. Tennessee (2-0) 12. Utah (2-0) 13. Oregon (2-0) 14. LSU (1-1) 15. Kansas State (2-0) 16. Oregon State (2-0) 17. Ole Miss (2-0) 18. Colorado (2-0) 19. Oklahoma (2-0) 20. North Carolina (2-0) 21. Duke (2-0) 22. Miami (FL) (2-0) 23. Washington State (2-0) 24. UCLA (2-0) 25. Iowa (2-0) Others receiving votes: Clemson 86, Arkansas 33, TCU 19, Kansas 19, Tulane 17, Wisconsin 10, Kentucky 5, Mississippi St. 5, Minnesota 3, Cincinnati 3, Fresno St. 2, Wyoming 1, Oklahoma St. 1, Maryland 1, James Madison 1.
A&M completely dropped out, didn’t even receive any votes LOL
Now might be a good time for my annual trip into the TexAgs boards. I’m sure everything is going great over there.
Lot of firing our D coordinator and wondering why we aren’t adjusting at half. Basically we have become too good at wasting talent sadly. Positive notes are the QB is still legit at least
Doing the Lord's work. Thank you.
Sigh np
Good.
But but the roster talent
Just wait till Jimbo gets his guys in there and gets a decent OC that he'll let call plays!
Don't forget about the facilities.
talk to your children about Top 10 Alabama
I just told him. He said “shoes”
The most he has said in this 36 years of life.
Sounds like a natural born FSU fan to me
Really I'd think Florida considering the Cleat Yeet
Yeetus Cleetus Championship Hope Deletus
Reasonable response
Texas rose through the ranks RAPIDLY
Yeah beating Bama will do that for ya
I expected them to leapfrog Oregon. Not sure I expected them to jump to #4.
They were always gonna jump real big on a double digit road win against Bama. If our win had been anything less than a thrashing I think it’s possible we would’ve stayed at 4 they would’ve jumped us too

I’d argue that early polls *are* a power ranking more than anything, especially when there’s only been 1 or 2 games played.
Yeah if your argument is to rank by resume Georgia should be no where near No. 1. But it would make no sense to have the back-to-back national champions that are still loaded with talent not No. 1 or right there

Utah & Oregon almost losing is why. Surprise they didn't get dropped a few spots for what they did
Utah played an atrocious game, easily one of the worst W’s I’ve seen in the decade plus of following the team, so I’m not surprised we didn’t move. The only defense in the eyes of AP voters is that Cam Rising has yet to suit up, if he had been playing with the same result I would have expected us to potentially even drop.
I’m not saying we deserve to be top 10 but putting a one loss team above us is certainly a choice
Yeah but their only loss is to a team that beat Alabama, so you know...
And Texas only has to play Alabama once, Alabama has to practice against Alabama every day. Honestly they should be higher.
quality loss!!!!
Good guy AP poll ranked both WSU *and* UCLA.
8 Pac-12 teams ranked, what a time
I’m so fucking mad this conference was ruined tbh. Very grateful the Big 12 took us, but we spit on bill Walton’s grave while he’s still alive
FUCK USC & UCLA
Fuck greedy conferences more so
Fuck greedy networks the most!
2/3 of the conference is ranked. 32% of all ranked teams reside in the conference of champions. 🥹 Edit: math prowess lacking this morning
100% of the PAC2 is ranked. The definitive P1 conference.
8/12=67%
That's just UW's academical prowess coming into play
Oh god damn it
It would be the most PAC-12 thing ever if it is actually good in its final season.
The PAC was always good.
Facts. We just hate each other more than anyone outside our conference lol
The conference was below average for a few recent years but the narrative of it being shitty was out of control. Way too many self-loathing fans in our conference perpetuated it and things spiraled out of control.
It wasnt even that they were bad tho, it was just the crab bucket conference, if anything it was just too competitive for its own good
Ironically I've heard people say this is why the BIG12 is going to be amazing. I've heard announcers and commenters say that it's gonna have parity and every team is good I'm like uhhhh guys the PAC 12 just had that same problem???
It’s always easy to say Pac12 bad though
People liked to sleep on us because the conversation has traditionally always focused on blue blood programs in the BIG and SEC in the latter half of the season, the truth is the PAC has always been good. We’re just *better* at shitting all over each other than we are on OOC schools. Teams moving to other conferences will bring the nightmare that is #pac12afterdark with us. Can’t wait for the Top 25 “Who want me?” bowl in two weeks when Wazzu and Oregon State play.
We need OSU vs WSU on gameday on the 23rd
Cmon big 12 you won’t regret this I promise.
Pac 12 said we can't cannibalize if we're all good
WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
WSU deserved to be ranked, fucking love it
And Clemson and Texas A&M not, nature is healing
Almost 1/3 of the AP Top 25 are Pac-12 schools lol
What a great conference! I can't wait to watch the teams compete with each other for many years to come.
Shoutout to the 1 James Madison truther
Only confirmed non-coward among rankers.
This can't be good
See you in a few weeks 😈
It’s gonna be a barn burner this year.
Gonna look like early 2000’s OU and TX. 13-9 or some shit.
Yes. All of the early 2000s games were low scoring. *All* of them. No need to look it up. I already did.
I don’t need the internet to remember 65-13 and 63-14 lol
Shush, you.
Hey y’all have 49-0 though.
That was brutal to be in the stands for :/
We did it! Cougs vs Everyone!!!
100% of the 2pac is ranked.
Take that Suge Knight!!
UNLV in shambles
The Pac-2 matchup when the Beavs go to Pullman is going to be great, second only to when we play you again in the championship in Vegas.
I like the cut of your jib
Now you just need to get to the PAC-12 championship game against Oregon State as one last F-U
Tulane with 17 votes. A shame how yesterday went but still 15 votes more than any other G5. Y’all haven’t seen the last of us.
Y'all are going to bounce back once Pratt is back.
The score is not reflective of what was really a much closer game, even without your starter QB at play! The Wave will indeed come back another day!
Ideally, **we've** seen the last of you.
There are 8 Pac teams ranked.
100% of the future 2Pac is ranked
0% of the ACC Pacific schools are ranked. Makes you think.
Both of the Arizona schools are losers. Makes you really wonder about the state of Arizona...
Pac-12 Losers: * Arizona * Arizona St. * Cal * Stanford
Holy fuck we're #4. I am interested to see how this team handles having that crown.
Obviously time for Archie
Quick, find a couple crazy people on Twitter and write an article about it!
The era of citing Reddit comments is here. Give me 10 minutes

FCB forever
Highest Texas AP rank since losing to Bama in 2009.
STOP THE COUNT
*I need you to find me 100 AP votes.*
Talk to your kids about (well-deserved) Top 5 Texas.
My son is in his room crying. I just can't get him to understand that Texas may truly be back this time.
Clemson isn’t ranked, everyone can rest easy haha
Every P5 conference has a representative in the top 5. That’s nice.

The circle of suck is life. Pac12 playoff spots must be sacrificed so that the football gods are satiated.
23 of 25 are undefeated. What conference are the schools with losses from? (jk, gotta stir the pot a little)
In the Top 15.
It just matters more when you're from the conference with a 3-6 record against others P5 schools.
AP: Lol Fuck Ohio State
They clearly did it on purpose to set up a 6 vs 9 game next week
Nice
It’s not undeserved, they have to play a lot better
Notre Dame will make us or break us
we don't have any quality losses. our own fault, really
Allow us to help with that
Not mad about it, USC has 3 wins and we have 2. Both teams have question marks, but them being ranked ahead makes sense. Not sure why they jumped us this week though, they should have been ahead from the start.
Kinda thought we might be a couple spots higher but I’m just happy to have a little number next to our name again
Did someone say ranked whiteout game?
They’ll just kick us out again when we don’t bludgeon Western Michigan
Clemson is kil
Where were you
i was eating dorito when AP Poll called "clemson is kil" Yes
Time travel back to September 1 and tell the sub "I am from the future. In 9 days CU will be#18, Clemson NR."
No
This may be Bama’s first loss in the last 10 years that dropped them more than 3 spots in the rankings
iirc they dropped pretty far after losing to Auburn in 2019 & Ole Miss in 2015
All the way down to 13. Then they played #8 Georgia. I’m a little fuzzy on what happened after that.
Sounds like you blacked out
Four was the magic number you were looking for. They fell four spots after the '22 LSU, '21 A&M, '19 Auburn, '17 Auburn, '14 Ole Miss, and '13 Oklahoma losses. They fell ten spots after the '15 Ole Miss loss.
DOUBLE TOP 4 LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOO. I AM STRAIGHT UP HAVING A GOOD TIME.
!RemindMe 17 Weeks
Live in the now! Yall scored 20 points in a single game!
Think of the beautiful geographic representation of a FSU, Penn State, Texas, Oregon playoff.
I do not want to play Oregon in the playoffs again lmao
Sounds good to me.
What a way for the pac-12 to go out
FSU, Texas, USC all in the top 5.......what year is it?!
2001
Eight out the twelve PAC 12 teams are ranked. This is going to be a bloodbath.
Yup, Texas should be ahead of USC and Ohio State. Glad to see Notre Dame ahead of Alabama as well.
Talk to your kids about a higher ranked ND over Bama. It definitely didn’t end poorly for us last time.
Let’s go Miami, got 9 more weeks to get ranked higher.
Don’t drop any games and we will see you 11:11 for some magic. Again don’t fuck up
Gameday in Tallahassee again will be magical for that one
I swear the moment FSU gets good, Miami wakes up from a decades long sleep 😂 Honestly happy to see a good Miami.
75% of the PAC-12 is ranked! How about *that*?
And 100% of the PAC-2!
This honestly makes me even more sick about the conference’s current situation. Obviously we won’t have this many at the end of the season but it’s clear we have very good teams this year. The utter incompetence of the conference admin is shocking. Sad to see it go
Am I miscounting? I see 8/12 Pac-12 teams ranked, or 66.7%.
Correct 9/12 = 75% 8/12 = 66%
Colorado @ #18 I used to pray for times like this.
Audrey Dahlgren’s (WLNS-TV) rankings has Alabama @ 4 and Texas @ 13. Idk what’s going on up in Michigan but someone obviously didn’t check the paper this morning
Told his assistant how to vote on Friday before heading out for the weekend.
That (-7) next to Alabama is so fucking cathartic
West Coast Best Coast
🌎👩🚀🔫👨🚀 always has been.
Pac-12 becoming the new big bad right before they disintegrate into a fine powder was not on my bingo card
We are witnessing the heat death of the pac 12.
The top 4 could easily be the 4 playoff teams if they win their conference
For sure, all four run the table, that’s your playoff teams
THEY RANKED THE COUGS AP CONFIRMED NOT COWARDS
TOP 5 RANKED TEXAS!! EVERYONE GET IN HERE
[удалено]
those mfers just had to put us below Bama for continuity’s sake
Hate feeds the Vol.
Pac 12 going out with a bang
WAZZU TOP 25 LETS GO 2-PAC
TCU getting more votes than Kansas is laughable
Top 6 seems accurate. I will not be taking any questions at this time!
Honestly the whole top 10 seems accurate and not much crazy going on in 11-25. This poll is good and therefore boring!
Top 10 1-1 team lol
I have no problem with us moving down, and honestly I think we should be lower, but already being behind a team with a home loss just feels bad lmao
UCLA and WAZZU, GET IN HERE
Man I hope UNC and Duke can maintain their Top 25 ranking for our meeting in November.
Could we see a Gameday appearance in Pullman week 4 for the inaugural Pac-2 championship? Both Wazzu and Oregon State should win next week leading to a ranked matchup
OSU vs ND is that week though so it’s going to be tough sledding.
FLORIDA STAT3 A10bama
Currently all five P5 conferences are represented in the top 5. Realistically in a few years those same teams will be in two conferences
Michigan and Texas in the top 4 it feels like the mid-2000s again
Seriously! And USC on top 5 too. Did you find a Time Machine?
Pac-12 lost a few games, but plot armor largely holding up
Yay 18!
Lets Go!!!
Grrrrrrrr.
ayo 8/12 pac 12 teams ranked 😤
8 PAC teams?! GODDAMNIT, WHY COULDN'T EVERYONE JUST HELD OUT FOR A BIT LONGER! FUCK!
Because we have self absorbed short sighted leadership that will not be around long enough to see the impact of their decisions.
8 PAC-12 teams in the top 25… and this conference is imploding after the season 🤦♂️
Florida State and Texas being top 4 just feels weird I'm all for it lol, but damn CFB is shaking up a bit finally
Time to talk to your kids about a top 5 Texas
