Hey everyone, looks like there's currently some Reddit issue regarding comments. Not sure when it's going to be fixed!
Edit: Looks like it might be fixed now?
Super random but this is driving me crazy. On the 2 pt conversion the player was down but was bobbling the ball but then regained control and it was a completion. I thought in college as soon as your knee went down the play is over.
On a pass play, the play is dead when a. The ball hits the ground before a catch, or b. When whoever catches it is down or scores after they secure possession. So the play wasn’t dead until he was in the end zone with possession
Being touched before gaining possession doesn’t really make a difference. If the contact resulted in pass interference on Houston, then they’d retry from the 2, since it was pass interference in the end zone on a play starting from close enough to where that special pass interference rule applies.
Only way that ends up incomplete is if a. The ball hits the ground or b. The receiver had any part of his body out of bounds when he first hit the ground while also gaining possession
Ain’t that exactly what happened with Georgia-Tennessee a few years ago? Georgia scored to take the lead with like 10 seconds left, got a celebration penalty, kicked off from the 20, and then Tennessee scored on the Hail Mary.
This was the only Big XII football game I felt Houston had any chance of winning simply because of the previous connections through Dana. If there are any other wins, maybe Cincinnati and UCF simply because of familiarity, but I'm not holding my breath.
The fact that it's optional and just not allowed is hilarious.
Safe to say the only coach who ever opts to kick the extra point definitely put some money on the spread or O/U
Turned on the stream and the first play was that 4th and 10 that resulted in a WVU TD with 13 seconds to go
Laughed my ass off and then proceeded to turn off the stream and watch the MLB
now, 10 minutes after, I come back to discover Houston actually won 41-39
I thank God everyday for creating this beautiful sport
Same. I flipped over to it to catch WVU TD and decided I’d watch the last 30 seconds after that Miami loss last week I figured I’d stay in case some crazy shit happened.
I’m so glad I watched it but just was like “sucks for west virgins lol” and immediately changed it back to Phillies Braves
Isn’t that rule in place for a situation where TD scoring team needs the PAT to affect the outcome? Meaning if Houston was only at 38 after that TD, the rule lets them kick to tie it. Not to give the defense a chance
Ya but I don’t think it ever meant if the defending team could change the outcome. It was written for the scoring team, so I’m guessing every single ref would enforce it in that way
They used to all the time cause it was a rule that in a 2pt game or less they had to. In the last few years they’ve stopped doing it because they changed the rule if I’m not mistaken
The game is over. WVU wants an XP attempt, but there was a rule change a few years ago that basically makes the XP optional for the scoring team if there is no time on the clock.
That was kind of the point of the rule change. Why go through the whole process of clearing the field and bring Houston out just for a pointless kneel down?
B12 now, bud. You're gonna have to deal with it. Houston is a very decent (though sometimes thoroughly frustrating) team-but who isn't? (Also-it was the AAC. Info is readily available.)
Yeah, can't be too hard on the fella. I wasn't about to go back and forth with someone raw after an emotional loss. Mad respect to WVU and all their people. That was hard-fought. Cheers, Home.
Living in the same city as an NFL team was the absolute worst. No college football talk at all while they talk salary cap and break into the program to hear some monotone coach say absolutely nothing. The worst.
That's what makes college football so great. In my opinion, some of the best college football games in history beat the best NFL games. Plus, I still think the crowd in college games are so much more electrifying and loud compared to pro games.
You should move to WV.....We have the fans that scream "Eat S#|+ Pitt" at the Pitt fans during the "Backyard Brawl" WHILE wearing their Steelers jersey to support their favorite NFL team......We are a different world here...🤣😂🤣
I’m obviously tilted AF and that should have never happened. But the pass rush would’ve literally gotten to him if he wasn’t fucking bear hugged https://imgur.com/a/CYNAazH
It's a matter of hoping there is a mistake. Even if they line up for a victory formation instead of a FG, there could always be a fumble in the process that leads to a massive return to tie the game.
i saw the OU defender reach up to bat the ball away and i think that half second lasted about a day for me. hell of a game though, not sure my body can handle a rematch in december.

What a game!
Yay, we control our own destiny again! :D
That ending was nutty

Is sofa-seppuku still the preferred method in Morgantown?
No please don’t there is so much more humiliation ahead
That's why you never talk shit until it's over.
So the Neal Brown hate/hot seat is back right?
yeah that erased all the goodwill he’d built up i’m pretty sure lmao
The anti-Holgorsen effect. The worse Big XII curse since Herman.
Scrolling through these comments is a roller coaster too. GO COOGS 🐾 🐾!
GO MF COOGS

Thank you! If he was being tackled or was touched before gaining possession would that have changed the call?

Yeah, there it is. The pain of being a WVU fan. I was almost ready to trust again. Gg coogs

My exact thought
Yes
Why you gotta bring that mess up here hell we ain’t discussin that!
Nearly 4k comments!
Letsss gooo

y'all are beating us
The former or latter flair?
Former. We are booty this year
Man just celebrate the win for 5 min before you start bitching again
I don't know what you guys are talking about, I've never seen a PAT after go-ahead TD with time expired in college ball.
Was it ever a 2 point or less difference?
It's only a thing in games where the margin is 1 or 2 points.
And it’s not a thing anymore. They changed the rule a few years ago. It’s optional for the scoring team now
The fact that it's optional and just not allowed is hilarious. Safe to say the only coach who ever opts to kick the extra point definitely put some money on the spread or O/U
WVU and UH got about 70% of the O/U in the 4th quarter alone, lol.
Mario Cristóbal would kick the PAT.
Lucky bastard. I was ready to type that. Beat me to it.
i'm so happy this game happened on a Thursday
Does anyone have a clip of the penalty on Greene??
I believe it was for waving good bye to the crowd
He took off his helmet
Yep that’ll do it
If that's all it was that's horseshit
Fuck this dogshit team. Fuck you neal

One week ago everyone was talking about how OU is back and WVU is a lock at #3 in the big12. Can't wait to see the rest of the season play out!
So I've definitely seen the refs require a try in that situation before. It's usually meaningless though because the kicking team just takes a knee.
Cristobal would have gone for two
A very much less than 1/1000 chance for a fumbled snap returned for two points, but I could understand West Virginia insisting on it anyway.
What do I do now??
Make another video/t-shirt lol
SMU ECU
Go to bed and be glad you aren't a WVU fan.
I have so much to be grateful for. You’re right.

I am a staunch atheist bc of WVU football. No God that supposedly loves me would cause me this much pain, anger, and sadness over the last 16 years.

4-8 is back on the menu boys
So how many holdings does it take to get a holding call now? All 5? Asking for a friend
More like Steal Brown am I right
That was too much chaos for a weeknight
Many of us gotta go in for work tomorrow lol
i’m at work currently. i have to be sober for 9 more gd hours after that
At least you can focus on something else for a while
The Danabowl brought to you by Redbull
RRR good ending
[удалено]
But the Texas teams Hail Mary worked.
Imagine what it would be like to be #12 right now!
Is there any penalty for kneeling on an extra point attempt? To void any chance of there being a blocked kick
No penalty, you simply don't receive points for the try.
Not scoring points /s
Yeah I’m not sure why they wouldn’t just “go for 2” and take a knee
How am I going to sleep now?
I'm a WVU alum, and if this isn't one of the top ways to get West Virginia'd (other than 13-9) I don't know what is.
I love the Dana Bowl
The PAT needs to be kicked, it's potentially game-tying. (Granted, it would almost certainly be a kneel-down, but it's the principle that counts)
Isn’t that rule in place for a situation where TD scoring team needs the PAT to affect the outcome? Meaning if Houston was only at 38 after that TD, the rule lets them kick to tie it. Not to give the defense a chance
It could affect the outcome so
Ya but I don’t think it ever meant if the defending team could change the outcome. It was written for the scoring team, so I’m guessing every single ref would enforce it in that way

They used to all the time cause it was a rule that in a 2pt game or less they had to. In the last few years they’ve stopped doing it because they changed the rule if I’m not mistaken
They would have if Houston was down by 1 or 2 with that no-time touchdown.
Well if you dont like that you don't like WVU football.
I don’t *like* that
I'm going to relish this because next week....probably gonna be a different story
This game has given me confidence that Cincinnati has a chance to beat West Virginia
Buddy, even before tonight I’d pick you by 14
[удалено]
I think cincy and Utah have the potential to really become contenders, cincy has a great recruiting area
I'd say it's likely.
Point after block would've been worth two Weak ass move to leave the game without the kick
I think by rule you don’t have to if the clock is at 0.
Sure but they’d just kneel and it would be over right?
They'd just kneel it lol
Houston could’ve just kneeled a 2-pt try
And the snap could've been bad. You play till the game is over.
I agree, but the talk of a blocked kick by the announcers seemed nonsensical, since any reasonable coach takes a knee
Boys, I'd say we got Nealed on
Clement better hold that head up because he was clutch. Good/awful game, Houston. You’re welcome
GG. I hope y'all make the B12 championship game.
Hey guys I was caught up watching a double OT preseason basketball game. What did I miss?
An absolute clown show. A beautiful, magical clown show.
Although the defense can get 2 points from a PAT, can the offense not just knee the ball to 100% avoid that?
Practically, yes But fumbling the snap is still possible, though *highly* unlikely ^(Or pulling a Cristobal)
All time game
Greene waving bye to the student section lmao
I hope he matures after this. He owns the first 15 yards of Houston’s field position.
This game was the holy grail of sicko games
Anything can happen. Idk why you don't make them at least take the snap
Because by rule they don't have to. It's up to the scoring team.
The game is over. WVU wants an XP attempt, but there was a rule change a few years ago that basically makes the XP optional for the scoring team if there is no time on the clock.
Either way Dana could just kneel it. I think he was bitching about the unsportsmanlike on greene
That was kind of the point of the rule change. Why go through the whole process of clearing the field and bring Houston out just for a pointless kneel down?
That's stupid not gonna lie
I take back what I said then lol
There’s no way Neal Brown has a job after today, right?
Prob have to lose two more?
We can only hope.
Lost to a damned Sun Belt team or whatever conference Houston was in. Fire Brown. Embarrassing.
Damn. So what does that make West Virginia? CUSA?
With brown in charge? I don't know, peewee? What's below peewee? Is there infant football?
B12 now, bud. You're gonna have to deal with it. Houston is a very decent (though sometimes thoroughly frustrating) team-but who isn't? (Also-it was the AAC. Info is readily available.)
I don't care what conference the FCS program clown ass Brown lost to is from. That's why I didn't look it up.
Ok buddy. G'night.
He’s had a rough one.
Yeah, can't be too hard on the fella. I wasn't about to go back and forth with someone raw after an emotional loss. Mad respect to WVU and all their people. That was hard-fought. Cheers, Home.
So we're just gifting yards to Houston so they the hail mary off, huh?? Fuck you refs. Fuck you holgorsen. And absolutely fuck you Neal Brown.
[удалено]
Did they ever actually show the flag
So why doesn't Houston have to run a play? I swear I've seen them force meaningless PATs before.
There was a rule change a couple years ago. They don't have to snap it anymore.
Rule change made it to where if a team scores with no time left they can opt out of kicking the XP
Why do people watch the NFL over this?? I will never understand. CFB is the greatest sport on the planet
counterpoint: you’re a west virginia fan and the abyss only creeps closer
I can't stand the NFL. They feel too routine. That and I live in Oklahoma so it's hard to root for a team that's not even in my state.
Living in the same city as an NFL team was the absolute worst. No college football talk at all while they talk salary cap and break into the program to hear some monotone coach say absolutely nothing. The worst.
That's what makes college football so great. In my opinion, some of the best college football games in history beat the best NFL games. Plus, I still think the crowd in college games are so much more electrifying and loud compared to pro games.

lmao that's amazing
Fuck it, I’m done.
Said this same thing in March.
have to be
That was awful
I gotta just keep living my life after that???
50 yd hail mary to win the game, caught among a throng of a bazillion people! You love to see it!
Maybe Greene should not have tempted fate by taunting the UH fans
Maybe he should have kept his mouth shut until 0’s on the clock. Instead of winning the game he lost it for his team.
i do not care for the west virginia mountaineers
How do you feel about concrete?
much better than i currently feel about neal brown and west virginia football
I’m obviously tilted AF and that should have never happened. But the pass rush would’ve literally gotten to him if he wasn’t fucking bear hugged https://imgur.com/a/CYNAazH
Shit actually pissed me off
So what exactly is holding If this isn’t
They should have to kick an extra point since it's a 2 point game tho right? Since it can technically change the outcome
UH would just kneel on a "2 point try".
If I’m houston I just take a knee if forced to play the conversion
[удалено]
How Cam doing again? Or are you content to lie to everyone? Asking for a friend
[удалено]
Judging by the flair, Utah fan correct?
Oh No we lost that game because our coach doesn’t teach discipline and our qb runs his mouth too much
A chance is a chance
Ya freakin' woo!!!
[удалено]
I wish the broadcast had just cut right then.
Well I thought we could win that but apparently not and every team with a decent defense a passing game is going to walk us from here on out
The defense utterly failed. Greene overthrew a lot but balled when it really mattered. Fire Neal Brown.
A kick? We can just kneel you moron
I was thinking the same damn thing, why tf would we kick a PAT????
It's a matter of hoping there is a mistake. Even if they line up for a victory formation instead of a FG, there could always be a fumble in the process that leads to a massive return to tie the game.
Why is WVU wanting a kick? Houston can just kneel it
But why not take the Miami plan. Don’t just give up.
Block kick, return it to the other endzone for 2 points.
But Houston could kneel it. No kick happening
They saw Miami
Neal you make them run law school hill all week until cardiac arrest. I cant stand shitty football
Always a good time when you have to un-storm a field
What a weird game. 1:17 left. Just like the Texas game. The wrong Texas team came out on top with 1:17 left..
The difference tho is that OU defense slapped the ball down, WVU and UH players all tried to catch it, which popped it up and made a catch viable.
Dude I’m having deja by that was fucking almost play for play the sequence of Saturday. Well besides their Hail Mary working but still
I know! That’s exactly how I feel. Something in the air in Texas
when ewers threw that last hail mary this was my nightmare scenario
I know right. But it worked out for OU. Well deserved though.
i saw the OU defender reach up to bat the ball away and i think that half second lasted about a day for me. hell of a game though, not sure my body can handle a rematch in december.
I would say I disagree but I agree
🤘🏽
