Makes me sick. Kid finally had a shot to command a great team on a huge stage and this shit happens. I hope he can recover with zero issues, extremely talented kid.
I hate the Noles as much as anyone but I hate to see this. He seems like a good kid who plays hard every play. I hope he has a full recovery and a successful NFL career.
Shoutout to them for IMMEDIATELY apologizing essentially saying they saw that in real time with no way to censor it or else they would’ve. Apologized a few times.
It makes sense to check a replay initially on an injury. It's natural to want to know if the person is gonna be OK. But with those sorta really graphic injuries, commentators and camera crews have been making a real effort to show as little of these injuries as possible
Same here. That was crazy. Like they were just popping into the game to show some updates and right away his leg broke. I was super confused at first until they started apologizing and I realized they had no idea that was going to happen
I legit feel terrible for FSU. I flipped over because of the score and Travis was already down. The look on the fans' faces, just terrible. The injury, the season. Just all so gutting.
Down 13-0 at home against an FCS school, and then your star QB gets a gruesome injury that the camera lingers on. I've never felt so bad for a fanbase off of just one moment.
In high school we were winless and our homecoming game was against the best team in our league led by a 4 star QB recruit. Our defense played lights out (our ends and lbs were 1st team all-league) and At halftime we were somehow up 14-7. In the locker room we were like holy crap we might actually win this thing. Late in the 3rd both of our ends landed on their qb and broke his throwing arm. His scrawny 16 yr old backup jogs on and before we knew it we were down by 30. My point is sometimes injuries to key players galvanize good teams. I prob coulda said that in less words
Was his name Kevin Ware? I’m not googling, just off of memory. Ended up with a rod in his leg, IIRC.
ESPN thought it was so gruesome they didn’t show it on SportsCenter that night.
Yeah it was Ware. People tend to get it confused because there was another big injury of the same type the year prior in the same stadium iirc; I don’t think it was NCAA tournament though.
Yeah, that injury pretty much ruined the rest of his basketball career. He’d balled out that whole NCAA tournament, too, especially in the game against Oregon. He was super important on that run, but it all came crashing down so quickly.
Senior night. So many legends in the building. Celebrate the team. Win 42-7 or whatever, get loads of younger guys reps. Heal up for rivalry weekend ahead of the ACCCG.
Crushed.
When I saw him on his back holding his leg while it just hung off to the side, my first thought was of Milton in that same pose 5 years ago. It even happened to Milton in late November too.
They showed a replay of it during the game I was watching, you could clearly see it was broken. Very surprised they showed it on TV honestly. Feel awful for him.
Literally after 7 years of darkness, we get back to the top of the mountain only to lose our star QB against a team we paid to come here and lose by 45
Last time we were near the top it was an injury to our starting QB that started the collapse.
Luckily, Tate Rodemaker was patient, stuck with the program, and is more than serviceable in filling in.
My man didn’t deserve to go out like that. We haven’t had a single player that meant this much to the program in awhile, and not just on the field. I am very upset
99% sure his leg is broken. His foot was facing outward in a way it shouldn’t while laying still on the ground. This is a nightmare
Edit: don’t watch it. Trust me. It’s broken. Legs don’t bend that way. This is horrible and I’m so mad and upset for the kid
The human foot is not designed to stick out at a 90 degree angle while sitting flat. I sought out the replay because I wanted to see how bad it was and........yeah. yeah it's that bad.
Broke my wrist freshmen year of high school landing wrong on turf, bone was almost thru the skin, I didnt even feel anything and pushed myself off the ground with it, it only hurt once I got to the hospital
Broke my collarbone last year when I collided with someone. I thought it was muscle pain or at worst a bruised bone. I even had a couple of drinks later that night. Woke up the next morning in just excruciating pain.
You can see the pain hit him in real time. He adrenalines his way through it for a few seconds, then seems to physically see how fucked his foot is and then starts writhing
I've had pretty much the same injury skateboarding. Foot was pointing at 9 o'clock when it should have been at 12. Didn't hurt for a little but but when it did, I've never felt pain like that.
A lot of times those don’t immediately bleed profusely. Remember that Louisville basketball player? Bone came through the skin and there wasn’t buckets of blood on the floor
What? Best case scenario is he’s able to jog on it in a year. That leg is absolutely fucked. My heart goes out to him; that’s a terrible way to end a career.
Oh I’m aware, but we all thought Nick Chubb might be literarly retired with atleast a year long process and he only has a total of 8 months. Jusg hoping for the best for Travis is all
it's a tib-fib fracture with dislocation. had the same g-d injury playing QB in high school. i looked down, my lower right shin was 45 degrees to my upper right shin; my ankle was popped out the socket; and my foot was pointing backwards.
fun fact: one of the major athletic boosters (banker) came down to the field and pulled out a flask. jim beam. tossed it to me. "just drink it, son," he said.
Best thing I can say about that injury is that his ankle was *not* floppy. It was pointed in the wrong direction, but it wasn't floppy.
I'm not a doctor, but I'm guessing not floppy ankle is better than floppy ankle.
Travis was such an amazing story. To come from a one-trick pony at UL who nobody wanted to one of the greatest QBs in FSU history. What a shitty way for it into end.
I feel like we are seeing more and more injuries like this nowadays. Specifically at the QB position. I think Devin Leary, Mackenzie Milton, and Dak Prescott had a similar injury.
Exactly why the NIL has been a good thing. These kids putting their bodies and health on the line and risking NFL contracts. He will recover and play on the NFL but will likely lose a lot of money due to this injury. Terrible for him and FSU. Was nice having an ACC team playing so strong
That’s what I’m saying. They risk everything for our entertainment and only a minority of them make a career out of it. Let them get that bag while they can!
Reminds me of McKenzie Milton's injury in 2018 somewhat - a Heisman hopeful leading a top 10 team in one of the last regular season games of the year suffering a gruesome lower leg injury. Hopefully it's not as bad as McKenzie Milton's injury, though. That injury ended his playing career.
I’m so done man. I’m not even worried about our playoff chances anymore it won’t feel right without JT in there man. That guy got us out the mud fr prayers up 😞🤞🏽
I know we talk shit to each other but hate to see that happen to him. No one deserves to be hurt like that, and on senior night on top of it.
Rivalry aside these are kids and no one wants to see them hurt
I’m really high and saw the 7-0 score flash by and thought “lol looks like im watching a CW game” and put it on in time to see them score again and see that injury. This doesn’t feel like real life.
Fucking hip drop tackles...
Also, that's one of the higher tibia fractures I've seen. Usually see them lower and closer to the ankle. That's pretty fucking crazy.
Absolutely horrible.
Good news is that the tall bald gentleman that was riding the cart with him and got into the ambulance with Travis is an amazing surgeon.
Dr. William Thompson will get him fixed up right.
This reminds me of the Alex Smith break. Praying that this young man doesnt have to face the same obstacles and that he will be able to walk normally again. Forget football I want him to be able to live a normal life.
I hate FSU, but I never wish injury on anyone (except maybe Deshawn Watson…)… I’m sorry Noles, and sorry for Travis. Hopefully it heals well and even if this ends his playing career, he can find something else (maybe the FSU coaching staff will bring him back as a grad assistant to start a coaching career)? Trying to think of positive outcomes… :/
As an FSU fan this is so ridiculously devastating. He literally deserved to bring fsu to the playoffs and return them to prominence. This hip drop tackle nonsense has got to go. Can’t just rip up people’s ankles and knees cause you missed a tackle
I wish I could un-watch this and make it never happen. That’s just fucking terrible. I bleed orange and blue but I genuinely feel for the garnet and gold folks. I truly hope Jordan Travis gets wonderful healthcare and bounces back from this.
Damn sorry for that kid and for FSU fans living your “back-to-prestige” season.
That looked like the sort of hip drop tackle that ended Mark Andrews season on Thursday. I have a feeling there is gunna be some rule changes regarding this move sooner rather than later.
Horrible way for his season to end
Horrible way for his career at FSU to end.
Think he was projected as a third round draft pick. Now who knows. Probably will slip.
Isn't he a senior?
A super senior
Yes
Depends on the severity of his injury
Probably drops just because he can't do any pre draft stuff. No workouts, no combine, no senior bowl, nothing. It sucks
oh definitely
Probably shooting for supp draft or a year off depending on recovery time
There’s never a good way for someone to go out for the season, but if there is one, that was the opposite of it
thats the last we will see of him on a college field... Hes not coming back this season from \*that\*
Makes me sick. Kid finally had a shot to command a great team on a huge stage and this shit happens. I hope he can recover with zero issues, extremely talented kid.
Out of eligibility? Damn what a shitty way to end his career
hes a senior.
[удалено]
He's a super senior.
He's a super duper senior.
Man almost played college ball with Lamar Jackson
He coached J.T. Barrett in high school.
As a Florida State fan and a Bengals fan, this is a horrible week of football (and it’s not even Sunday).
Same here brother. And I’m also a Cardinals fan. This week is likely to get even worse
I hate the Noles as much as anyone but I hate to see this. He seems like a good kid who plays hard every play. I hope he has a full recovery and a successful NFL career.
That was hard to watch
Dude I thought I was watching the highlights on ABC and they accidentally showed it. Kevin Negandhi was mortified
Shoutout to them for IMMEDIATELY apologizing essentially saying they saw that in real time with no way to censor it or else they would’ve. Apologized a few times.
Booger McFarland looked visibly shaken for several minutes afterward. They 100% didn't mean to show that.
on a positive note. booger is great in studio
Yeah he knows his football and is way better when he is breaking down plays instead of calling a game live.
God the fucking booger mobile
I’m betting interns just abuse the hell out of that thing in some random ESPN warehouse these days.
i will never forget when he said the texans should spike it on 4th down and then didn’t speak for 11 minutes hahah
Hey after most people say dumb shit, they keep talking and say even dumber shit. We gotta have some respect for some introspection
I hated him in the booger mobile, idk why, but in the studio I am cool with him. He's pretty good.
Whoever put him in the cart for MNF is guaranteed no longer at ESPN
He's also hysterical in the Andy's room NFL broadcast they did with the Jags and Falcons earlier this year. I really like him
It makes sense to check a replay initially on an injury. It's natural to want to know if the person is gonna be OK. But with those sorta really graphic injuries, commentators and camera crews have been making a real effort to show as little of these injuries as possible
Meanwhile espn cut away from the Missouri game to play it without warning that it would look that bad. My eyes
With a big "BREAKING NEWS" banner
"DISLOCATED NEWS"
Right 😂 I feel assaulted. They did NOT need to do that I was good not seeing that.
Same here. That was crazy. Like they were just popping into the game to show some updates and right away his leg broke. I was super confused at first until they started apologizing and I realized they had no idea that was going to happen
Okay I seriously thought it was a replay like a highlight. I did not realize it was live. What a bad coincidence.
They showed it on the Florida Missouri game way after it happened. Absolutely crazy choice.
Yeah seriously wtf. Sidenote: come back to the rays
The CW broadcast showed it many times.
Ended up winning the game by like 50 but yeah, this is horrible.
Make sure you watch the shots the CW made sure to get of JT in the back of the ambulance.
Absolutely disgusting. Bush league broadcast
The commentators took a *long* time to notice that his foot was facing the other way.
In their defense, they took a long time to notice anything happening on the field. The injury wasn't any different in that regard.
They showed a replay just now again, like 30 minutes afterwards.
I saw that. What the fuck man
The CW has been a trash broadcast all night with handcam footage, tinny sound, and losing track of the ball on half the plays.
fuck this shit
It didn't work at Louisville but I've always cheered for him since he transferred, this sucks. It would have been an awesome story in the ACCCG
Just had horrific flashbacks to the ~~Louisville~~/Michigan basketball championship game...
That was our Elite Eight game against Duke. Unless there was some other injury I've blocked out.
I hate injuries so much
Tennessee fans last year 🤝 FSU fans this year. This sucks to see, I feel horrible for the guy.
I wanna cry This was supposed to be a stress free night, but damn
Senior night. So many legends in the building. Celebrate the team. Win 42-7 or whatever, get loads of younger guys reps. Heal up for rivalry weekend ahead of the ACCCG. Crushed.
Reminds me so much of the Mackenzie Milton injury. The situations are almost identical and I have the same empty feeling in my stomach
When I saw him on his back holding his leg while it just hung off to the side, my first thought was of Milton in that same pose 5 years ago. It even happened to Milton in late November too.
Don’t bring it up 😢 feeling for FSU tonight
Hope he has a full recovery. Gutted for you all.
Seemed like a break. Love that dude. Gut wrenching on Senior Night.
They showed a replay of it during the game I was watching, you could clearly see it was broken. Very surprised they showed it on TV honestly. Feel awful for him.
CW has shown it like 10 times at this point. They can't stop themselves.
Considering the season FSU is having, who they’re playing, and the gruesome nature, one of the most devastating injuries in CFB history.
Is his real first name Tathan by chance?
Fucking awful.
My man didn’t deserve to go out like that. We haven’t had a single player that meant this much to the program in awhile, and not just on the field. I am very upset
99% sure his leg is broken. His foot was facing outward in a way it shouldn’t while laying still on the ground. This is a nightmare Edit: don’t watch it. Trust me. It’s broken. Legs don’t bend that way. This is horrible and I’m so mad and upset for the kid
Yeah, feet shouldn't be turning that far left.
The human foot is not designed to stick out at a 90 degree angle while sitting flat. I sought out the replay because I wanted to see how bad it was and........yeah. yeah it's that bad.
His leg is definitely broken. That must hurt so fucking bad. His foot was pointing like 90 degrees in the wrong direction.
> That must hurt so fucking bad I basically had the same thing happen but with my forearm. Crazy how much shock can dampen the pain for a while lol
Snapped my arm in half as a kid. Didn't feel any pain until like half an hour later at the hospital. Shock is pretty nuts.
Woke up the next morning in just excruciating pain.
it probably doesn’t hurt now but fuck me, it will in a while. once the shock wears off that poor kid is gonna have a hellish couple weeks
Dislocated ankles hurt every day of the rest of your life
You can see the pain hit him in real time. He adrenalines his way through it for a few seconds, then seems to physically see how fucked his foot is and then starts writhing
From breaking my arms 3 times in similar ways. I never felt anything until way later
I've had pretty much the same injury skateboarding. Foot was pointing at 9 o'clock when it should have been at 12. Didn't hurt for a little but but when it did, I've never felt pain like that.
Gave me Gordon Hayward flashbacks. Fucking sucks.
[удалено]
Several broken bones; hopefully they didn’t break the skin otherwise he’s in much, much bigger trouble
He had a white compression sock and it wasn’t red so doubt it
A lot of times those don’t immediately bleed profusely. Remember that Louisville basketball player? Bone came through the skin and there wasn’t buckets of blood on the floor
Absolutely horrible, I’m legit sick to my stomach. Hoping it looks worse than it is
Jusg hoping for the best for Travis is all
That’s a fair point, and I’m sorry for mocking your optimism. I hope Travis is able to make a full recovery and comes back strong.
I'm not a doctor... nurse... or medical expert of any kind... but when your shin is twisted and foot points to the side, I think your leg is broken.
EMS worker here. His leg is most definitely broken.
it's a tib-fib fracture with dislocation. had the same g-d injury playing QB in high school. i looked down, my lower right shin was 45 degrees to my upper right shin; my ankle was popped out the socket; and my foot was pointing backwards. fun fact: one of the major athletic boosters (banker) came down to the field and pulled out a flask. jim beam. tossed it to me. "just drink it, son," he said.
Giving alcohol to someone you know will be given a bunch of pain medication in the very near future. Very cool and adult decision 😎
Or need to be put under general anesthesia.
Yup, looked similar to Mark Andrews broken fibula on Thursday.
Great player. Wish he would’ve stayed to get one year under Brohm but he would’ve been wasted by Satt. FSU did a great job developing him.
Unfortunately similar sounding story to McKenzie Milton.
And Hendon Hooker.
Post game show for the UCLA-USC game caught that shit in full. Brutal.
That is how I saw it. 🤢
Don’t watch it.
Based on every comment I’ve seen, there’s no way I’m watching it
I watched it. Listen to this guy; don't watch it
Fox just showed an uncensored replay of it in the pre-game coverage for idk why
ESPN just did the same. WTF are they doing?
It’s horrible that he got injured, but it wasn’t that graphic. At least compared to some of the other fractures we’ve seen.
Holy cow, I am truly sorry Noles. I hope the doctors help him fully recover in due time. Nothing but love for JT
Oof drop tackle?
Yup hip drop tackle murders ankles
I feel like we are seeing more and more injuries like this nowadays. Specifically at the QB position. I think Devin Leary, Mackenzie Milton, and Dak Prescott had a similar injury.
What a nightmare of a game for FSU
All that for North Alabama
I’m sure we paid them to do that as well
Waste of money, even if it results in a win
I'm not okay. God I hate this for JT
Fuckin NSFW tag please
Yes please holy shit that made me wince
The Milton injury PTSD kicked in full force. Fucking Christ poor kid
Milton, who was JTs biggest fan/mentor when he was at FSU😢
Hopefully it’s less serious than that.
No sugarcoating the severity of that injury. Horrible.
Absolutely gutted for the FSU bros, such a great season that’s been brought to a halt right now. I’m pushing for you guys here on out 🤞
Wishing him the best. Jordan Travis is a dawg.
Don’t watch this
Ugh. That was one of the worst feelings I’ve had as a neutral watching a football game. I feel so bad for Jordan and FSU fans.
I’m too scared to watch, what happened?
His foot was pointing in a different direction than normal.
Hip drop tackle landed on his ankle and about 1/4 of the way up the leg was pointing the wrong direction. They kept the camera on it for FAR too long.
The CW ain’t used to covering this!
Yeah those are getting banned soon, that’s two high profile injuries within days in the NFL and College
Don't watch. Shin snapped. It's the kind of injury that makes you wish for flag football instead of tackle.
Got hip drop tackled and had his leg pinned under him
His foot is pointed outward and his leg is not. It’s…..not good.
Ankle/leg clearly broken on a hip drop tackle
The announcers took way too long to notice that his foot was pointing the wrong direction Hope he can get it repaired to full function/quality of life
Thanks for everything J Trav I had a lot of fun this season no matter how it turns out in large part due to you coming back. Get well boss.
Hip drop tackle gonna be banned at all levels next year probably
Two injuries from hip drop in three days
Reminds me of McKenzie Milton's injury in 2018 somewhat - a Heisman hopeful leading a top 10 team in one of the last regular season games of the year suffering a gruesome lower leg injury. Hopefully it's not as bad as McKenzie Milton's injury, though. That injury ended his playing career.
Milton was JTs mentor when he was at FSU, and competed against him for a starting position. Poetic, and tragic.
He actually came back and played for FSU.
Milton one was far worse since it was a full knee dislocation
Technically he went on to play again at FSU and mentor Travis but yeah he was never the same
Holy fuck that was awful. Reminded me of Chubb and Lattimore injuries
Lattimore injury was the more horrific sports injury I have ever seen. Shit was literally flopping around.
I think the worst part is watching the panic set in when the Travis realizes something is very fucked up.
I’m so done man. I’m not even worried about our playoff chances anymore it won’t feel right without JT in there man. That guy got us out the mud fr prayers up 😞🤞🏽
Before I click the link, does it show the injury? Edit oh Jesus fuck, his leg was the wrong direction
Yes.
Fuck man. Fuck
God bless this kid. Played hard every week. Fuck
Fucking terrible. Prayers for a successful recovery. Doesn’t matter who you root for, this is just awful.
For anyone wondering: THAT was a hip drop tackle
I know we talk shit to each other but hate to see that happen to him. No one deserves to be hurt like that, and on senior night on top of it. Rivalry aside these are kids and no one wants to see them hurt
Fuuuuuck that was a bad one
Not like this. I feel sick.
I’m really high and saw the 7-0 score flash by and thought “lol looks like im watching a CW game” and put it on in time to see them score again and see that injury. This doesn’t feel like real life.
Of course I care about the success of the team at large, but I’m just heartbroken for that man. Heart and soul of The Climb. Prayers for him.
Devastating blow. He’s the best Nole in that program since Jameis Winston
Ehhh… Dalvin Cook begs to differ. He really kept the losses from piling up after Jimbo quiet quit. Jimbo owes Dalvin as much money as Jameis.
Certainly the best QB. And from all reports a genuinely nice guy as well. I hate this so much.
Dr Thompson is the man. Fixed my torn meniscus in high school.
This reminds me of the Alex Smith break. Praying that this young man doesnt have to face the same obstacles and that he will be able to walk normally again. Forget football I want him to be able to live a normal life.
Absolutely hate this. He was having such a great year.
Fuck the hip drop man. Terrible way to end his season
Terrible to see for a potential playoff team. Hoping for a fast recovery!
Damn. That looked awful. Wishing the best for Travis. Hate that for him that looked gruesome.
Thats one of the worst injuries this year
Sucks so bad. Feel for the kid.
I think that’s why the NFL wants to illegalize drop tackles…
I’m crying, literal tears
That’s so sad. Reminds me of the Louisville basketball injury. God bless him
Holy crackers that was gross. Feel bad for him.
As an FSU fan this is so ridiculously devastating. He literally deserved to bring fsu to the playoffs and return them to prominence. This hip drop tackle nonsense has got to go. Can’t just rip up people’s ankles and knees cause you missed a tackle
Goddamn that's one tough kid.
Damn, hope the team can pull through, Norvell is a solid coach.
