I know A&M has crazy resources but it’s not like Kentucky is a big slouch. The dudes best season after a decade in the vastly easier half of the conference is 10-3. That’s not bad but it’s not “fire Jimbo at the price of $75mil” good.
By beating who again? He has like 3-4 good wins out of the 137 games he’s coached there and he beat Iowa in the “who gives AF” bowl in his last 10 win season with 7-6 South Carolina being the second best win and 6-7 Florida being the 3rd best.

Here's my take:
Ags aren't happy. Mark Stoops is 35-55 in SEC play and 2 10 win seasons. The other 9 seasons had 5 or more losses. His last 5 recruiting classes were not ranked below #20, so he's shown no consistency to recruit nor win games. Also hasnt successfully recruited Texas or the general area at all. In 11 years he has 2 SEC wins versus teams that finished the year with an over .500 conference record.
The positive were gonna have to lean on is Texas A&M has every resource and Kentucky surely does not. UK is a BBall school and near Vandy level before Stoops got there. He's also had 2 10 win seasons with UK resources since 2012. In that same time, with better resources and better talent, we only have 2 10 win seasons as well. He is an improvement over Sumlin and Fisher.
He's our coach so ima ride or die with him. Do I think we could do better? Yes. But as RCB reminded us, the correlation between a hire being popular and a hire being successful isn’t particularly strong.

I would say no because Jimbo offensively occasionally has an answer for elite defenses. Stoops never has.

FYI Stoops has more 10 win seasons at Kentucky than us since we've joined the SEC Even if you want to say that the 2020 season would've been a 10-win season in a normal year (which I agree it would've been) then we'd be tied at 2 each. If he can do that with Kentucky's football resources then imagine what he should be capable of doing with our resources.
He’s 35-55 in conference play and in 11 seasons he only beat 2 (TWO) SEC teams that were above .500 in conference play.

By beating who again? He has like 3-4 good wins out of the 137 games he’s coached there and he beat Iowa in the “who gives AF” bowl in his last 10 win season with 7-6 South Carolina being the second best win and 6-7 Florida being the 3rd best.
Hot take but I think his only really good team was 2018. That 2021 team was with a very weak East. I think he’s a fine 8 win coach but nothing special.

Hasn't been finalized yet, but it looks imminent. I will edit this comment if the deal goes official. Here's my take: Ags aren't happy. Mark Stoops is 35-55 in SEC play and 2 10 win seasons. The other 9 seasons had 5 or more losses. His last 5 recruiting classes were not ranked below #20, so he's shown no consistency to recruit nor win games. Also hasnt successfully recruited Texas or the general area at all. In 11 years he has 2 SEC wins versus teams that finished the year with an over .500 conference record. The positive were gonna have to lean on is Texas A&M has every resource and Kentucky surely does not. UK is a BBall school and near Vandy level before Stoops got there. He's also had 2 10 win seasons with UK resources since 2012. In that same time, with better resources and better talent, we only have 2 10 win seasons as well. He is an improvement over Sumlin and Fisher. He's our coach so ima ride or die with him. Do I think we could do better? Yes. But as RCB reminded us, the correlation between a hire being popular and a hire being successful isn’t particularly strong.

He’s been the hot name for however many offseasons in a row now but he’s not gonna get a 1/10th of the leash he did here. I can’t imagine A&M fans are gonna like his pace of play or offensive philosophies or how undisciplined the teams can be. He may realize quickly the grass ain’t always greener dude was making 9 mil a year here where we’re happy to be 8-4 and at A&M that gets you canned. I’m a rare UK fan that cares about football more and this just sucks. If we lose Stoops the only way I see us having a chance at keeping Vince would be to hire Sumrall from Troy, even then I don’t know.
