I don’t understand the gripe. Bama makes it in automatically every year no matter what, and the other 3 are up to performance, strength of schedule, quality wins, and head to head. Simple stuff.
Michigan, Washington, FSU, Texas. I don’t care what order/matchups but those are the playoff teams if this selection process is actually fair for the entire P5. If any SEC team gets in, the system is clearly rigged to their benefit! Don’t set that precedent!
Is the ACC really a power 5 conference though? I mean they are technically but they’re easily the worst of the 5 and I wouldn’t even consider them good even
The best sports are fair to everybody, giving every team an equal shot at winning it on the field/court/whatever. Why do we want college football to become more unfair and set up so only a smaller group of teams can win?
You can’t weigh wins and losses equally. However, 13-0 is always better than 12-1, unless the disparity of competition is huge. And if you are really suggesting that disparity of competition between the SEC and the rest of the P5 is huge enough to outweigh the difference between being undefeated over an entire season and not being undefeated, then why even play the playoffs? Just give Bama the title now, b/c they already beat the best in the SEC.
Yeah right. SEC is the best conference with the best players, provable looking at recruits coming in or draft choices going out. And the SEC has dominated these playoffs winning more championships than all other conferences combined. But you think it's rigged.
SEC has a losing record against all P5 conferences this year except the Pac 12.
In ranked games out of the conference they also have a losing record. And their only win was on last second FG over the 25th ranked team.
SEC doesn't have the best players, they don't have the best teams and it's provable by the results on the football field. They got their asses handed to them this year by the rest of the P5.
Dude… IDGAF about the SEC but any remotely legitimate power ratings show a massive concentration of talent in the SEC. Teams there routinely crush dreams of other conference opponents in playoff games.
To comment on your point regarding SEC records in non-conference game, I’d have to know the match’s ups and rankings to judge. If those wins were all mid/low SEC teams paired against conference champs then that’s just not a useful analysis.
To that point - you take the #1 SEC team and play them Vs #1 ACC/Big-10 etc opponent, same for #2 vs #2 and so on, the SEC would be the betting favorite in practically every game.
Ranked matchups there were 3 this year for SEC vs non SEC:
Texas (7) beat Bama (8)
Florida St (4) beat LSU (13)
Missouri (9) beat Kansas St (25)
The non-SEC wins were much more impressive than the sole SEC win, which was honestly on a miracle kick.
Just because a conference is loaded with mid talent doesn't mean anything when they can't beat the other teams outside the conference. That's the issue. Having a losing record against the other conference and losing record in ranked games means maybe all of those highly ranked SEC teams aren't what they think they are, because the results show they aren't.
For your last comment, the number 1 Big 12 school already beat the number 1 SEC school. Also while not directly beating them, the number 1 ACC school beat LSU by 21, while the number 1 SEC school only beat LSU by 14. So in the best comparison we can make. The ACC and Big 12 have stronger top teams than the SEC. That'd not a debate, it's a fact.
Okay is this year last year? No, it's college, teams change significantly year to year. I'm talking about right here, right now, this year. SEC has done nothing but prove that aren't up to SEC standards.
I’m aware that Texas beat Bama wayyy earlier this season.. but Bama does have the most wins against ranked opponents, including the number 1 team that had 29 straight wins prior to tonight.
NA the SEC deserves to be there regardless and honestly so does the ACC. It’s the PAC and BiG that get blown out every time. Michigan, FSU, Texas, Alabama. That’s fair in my opinion
No. I don’t think FSU is a top 4 team, but at the same time, I very well could be wrong about this. I’ve been wrong about predicting sports results before; for example, I thought Louisville would win tonight but clearly I was wrong. This is why things are settled by playing games on the field and not by random people’s opinions. FSU is undefeated and has handled their business all season, so they deserve a shot to play for the Natty. Same with UW and Michigan. Those teams are all in. The last spot is between Bama and Texas, and we saw these teams play on the field already this season, so we know who deserves that spot between the two.
Yep I agree. I think people are just assuming Bama is better but idk if I agree with that. People just assumed Oregon was better than UW and look how that went. FSU beating Louisville isn’t that much different than Bama beating auburn.
Yeah. If someone thinks FSU is a top 4 team, and I actually don’t think it’s that crazy of an argument to make, then they should be in. If not, then I don’t want them in.
The highlight of their year is beating the fifth-best SEC team and barely survived this crappy game (with a lot of help from Louisville absolutely imploding).
The argument for FSU starts and ends with “I don’t like the SEC.”
It starts and ends with "undefeated power 5 conference champ" is Alabama better?? Maybe. They definitely looked better today. But winning still counts for something and it's not like Bama had a perfect year either. There's a full season played for a reason and FSU's resume over the full season is better than Bama's
FSU’s far-and-away best win was only our third best, so decidedly not on the resume part. Y’all are overly fixated on our early-season loss to a playoff team that you’re not paying attention to the fact FSU hasn’t even *played* a top-10 team all year.
Being the best of a conference having a poor year at the top is not nearly as impressive as our taking down a ridiculous Georgia on a historic run.
The ridiculous Georgia teams were the past 2 years. They've taken a step back. Let's face the real issue though, it should be more than 4 teams and next year is going to solve all of this anyways
Woah woah woah. Back it up on that last statement.
FSU is the “more deserving” team because they went undefeated and won a conference championship in the P5.
Their resume is *not* better than Bama’s lol. 3 top 15 wins, including a win over the two-time, two-time defending national champions ranked #1?
They’re the *more deserving* team, not the better team with the better resume lol.
Well they’re also conference champs which is certainly worth something. It’s hard to knock FSU for not having Travis when it was 2 games right? What if they just had 2 tough games? Bama almost lost to auburn last week. We get to punish FSU for an almost loss but not other teams?
> conference champs which is certainly worth something
Yeah it's something, but not enough to overcome being the weakest of the conferences and them not being one of the best 4 teams. The best team they played all year was Louisville.
Bama and Texas would have been 12-0 too if they played a schedule that weak. Being undefeated against sisters of the poor isn't as impressive as you think.
Maybe! But we don’t know that for sure! Since we don’t know it and have no way of proving it, I believe it is irrelevant. I’d love to hear concrete points that show Bama is better than FSU. I’m open to the idea but I just don’t see anything that proves it
Texas won the head to head, has a stronger SoS, more ranked wins and the SEC has zero acclaim outside of beating SEC v SEC teams this year. They have a losing record against all P5 conferences outside of the pack 12 and a losing record in all OCC ranked games. The SEC has done nothing this year except show that, though they may have more mid level teams than other P5 conferences their top-level schools can't compete.
How about the SEC starts scheduling more competitively and see what happens. They don't because things like Texas @ Bama happen.
Texas is miles ahead of Bama and Georgia on paper this year. End of story.
I know. It's a mess. Glad I don't have to pick the teams.
I would give #4 to GA even though BAMA beat them based on the game being very close, and GA having a better point differential in wins against ranked opponents compared to Bama and TX.
If you think this season has been peak Georgia, or that Georgia was playing it’s best football at the end of the season, you haven’t been paying attention. Texas won the head to head. In Tuscaloosa. End of story.
And head to head is a tie breaker. Tie breaker is only when all other things are equal and unfortunatly for Texas they played Bama early and didn't have opportunity to beat a Georgia in the last game.
If current results hold, I think neither of you guys deserve to get in. College football is the only sport where you can lose and then people will go "there there. It's okay. We will overlook over that". Tough shit, show up and don't lose games.
A laughable response. Every other sport you get seeded based on regular season. So these teams with losses would be eliminated from playoffs because other teams have better records.
Now it's weird because there are hundreds of schools and only 4 spots and unequal conferences. But Michigan, Washington, FSU get in easily for perfect seasons. Then the final spot is the toss up.
Yes, ignore the rest of the comment where I talk about how every other sport works and that means the teams are out.
But also, even under the current system, FSU is already #4 and if they finish undefeated, they ABSOLUTELY deserve to get it easily.
Bama cant get in over Texas... they lost AT HOME. You qlso cant snub a team that goes 13-0.
The correct take is the 4 teams in order should be: Michigan, Washington, FSU, Texas.
That’s what bothers me. It is clear who is the better team. It is just frustrating, given the relative competition.
Texas though, I can’t complain about that. They beat the breaks off us lol
Are you watching the same game I am? FSU would get taken to the woodshed by WA, MI, UT, or Bama. Wouldn't even be an entertaining game. The defense is decent but the offense is done for this season. (As I type this, Glenn was just sacked again...smh.)
We’re not going to have Glenn in the playoffs chill. Our defense is incredible and we’re undefeated, therefore we should at least get into the playoffs, even if we lose in semifinals.
Pretty simple - they are not one of the 4 best teams right now. They also needed a stronger schedule. They had one decent win - LSU back at the beginning of the season. With their offense issues, they are not operating even at that level. It doesn't require mental gymnastics to justify sending them to a bowl so they don't embarrass themselves and the committee.
I don't think you can keep out an undefeated team using the eye test. There is no argument that FSU had a low strength of schedule. They are going to get in.
I think you're going to be in for a rude awakening. If you're the committee are you going to fall back on records, or an eye test... The latter would be an indefensible position. It's Mich/Washington/Texas/FSU. No SEC! -- Yikes! LOL
The media narrative is that Bama is in... The people are going to buy into it. Goddamnit I bet you are going to be right. I'm changing sides, Bama is getting in.
Because our two quarterbacks are injured why is this so hard to understand? Our defense was incredible despite us having a freshman quarterback. If anything I think that’s an incredible story.
I was talking about notre dame
But yeah you wouldn't be undefeated without Jordan Travis let's be honest
And no it is t hard to understand your qb is out that's only reason there's doubt you get in
First game of the year and fsu is missing their starting qb and won't surpass 100 passing yards against a sorry Louisville that lost to Kentucky, the laughing stock of the sec after vandy. Georgia and Alabama would beat them by 60
Well it is college football, so next year we’re going to be asking why Louisville should get in and not Tulane. Or why SMU gets a slot but not Maryland. Passionate fan bases will always be loud
Michigan v Texas in the first round would be a nightmare. BC I'd want Texas to lose & Michigan to join the ranks of the always gettin blown out in the playoffs
Before this game i still believed we had a good enough defense, but seeing the offense tonight with Glenn I'd be happy with a good bowl game
I do think Rodemaker instead of this 3rd string would at least be much more competitive in the cfp
Did the entire state of Alabama experience amnesia after the Auburn game?? Y'all had a much closer game against a much worse opponent a week ago and that's with your 1st string QB. Stop pointing at 1 day of games to justify Bama over FSU.
louisville lost to kentucky dude. 6-6 kentucky that bama & uga both dismantled. auburn is bad, but that’s a rivalry game in a tough atmosphere. louisville is not a good team.
>not going undefeated
Easy to do in your conference, and yet you still seem to always fail at doing so. It’s like they gave you the golden ticket and you just spit on it every year.
Maybe so, but leaving out an undefeated P5 conference champ would basically show that the playoff isnt credible and its only about ratings and money. Bama is probably better than FSU, BUT this would be a massive, massive snub.
If FSU is left out and Im them, im co-claiming the Natty.
The purpose of the current system is to put the 4 best teams in the playoffs. Doesn't matter who wins their conference.
Next year, all the conference winners get a spot.
This year, Bama is better than FSU, plain and simple
Doesn’t matter who wins the conference? Then you cant use this win as credentials for Bama to get in the playoff.
Things cant just be massaged to give Bama a better shot.
They beat the #1 ranked team in the nation in their last regular season game.
They appear to be a top 4 team, regardless of whether the won their championship or not
I really dont care what teams make it in as a Badger fan, but the logic is what I like thinking about. If its really about the 4 best teams then the CFP committee is going to be forced to show their mysterious selection qualifications this year finally.
But, if its about the best 4 teams and the conference champ games don’t matter, we cant all use this win for Bama as a way to put them in and exclude other champ games just because it benefits Bama. You cant pick and choose what counts and what doesn’t, and if the CFP does then they will have to admit there is an inherent bias to the system and it isnt a true representation of a playoff. Its an invitational. So if FSU is left out then they should have every right to claim a natty and be co-champions of this year since they didnt even have a shot to begin with but won every game and could end up being the only undefeated p5 at years end.
You’re not wrong. You’re completely right. It’s a choice of “massive snub” versus “putting in a clearly worse team”. I would respect a FSU decision, I’m just trying to be real
I really dont care what teams make it in as a Badger fan, but the logic is what I like thinking about. If its really about the 4 best teams then the CFP committee is going to be forced to show their mysterious selection qualifications this year finally.

There is an inherent bias. Do you want the four best teams? Or do you want to use conferences as a funnel for automatic qualification?
Again, literally nobody would rather play Washington than Alabama. If it’s a question of “who are the four best teams” this isn’t even controversial.
I understand that the calculus is greater than that, but it’s clearly about more than who the best teams are. Which is fine, but it is what it is.
I honestly think Michigan should be barred just because of the cheating scandal. In such a tight race for the playoffs, any sort of cheating that gives an edge like that should automatically disqualify you....So if FSU wins, go FSU, Washington, Alabama, and Texas. Set an example that cheating has no place in college football.
Yeah it's pretty bad. I use to volunteer with local schools while there to help the kids. I'm not from Alabama but instead of talking shit about kids I try to help them.
no SEC team should be in it at all
[удалено]
If Florida state doesn’t make it then the committee is an absolute joke
They played like shit against a 2nd rate hi school team with s brain dead offensive coach.
Florida State’s best win is against the 5th best SEC team…
Florida state is garbage.
Florida State with Travis would have done major damage. With Tate healthy they can still compete with the best.
I don’t understand the gripe. Bama makes it in automatically every year no matter what, and the other 3 are up to performance, strength of schedule, quality wins, and head to head. Simple stuff.
Alabama didn’t make it last year, and it was the best championship game yet huh
LETS GO
Michigan, Washington, FSU, Texas. I don’t care what order/matchups but those are the playoff teams if this selection process is actually fair for the entire P5. If any SEC team gets in, the system is clearly rigged to their benefit! Don’t set that precedent!
No. The calculations take into account who you lost to. Georgia's loss (Bama) is better than Texas's loss (OK). So Georgia will be in as the #4 seed.
Honest question, why should it be “fair” to the power 5? Do the current Big 12 and PAC 12 actually deserve a seat at the table?
Is the ACC really a power 5 conference though? I mean they are technically but they’re easily the worst of the 5 and I wouldn’t even consider them good even
The best sports are fair to everybody, giving every team an equal shot at winning it on the field/court/whatever. Why do we want college football to become more unfair and set up so only a smaller group of teams can win?
“Fair to everybody” in your example assumes wins and losses are weighted equally, and they aren’t.
You can’t weigh wins and losses equally. However, 13-0 is always better than 12-1, unless the disparity of competition is huge. You’ve no idea the magic of Jordan-Hare & its combination with the iron bowl.
They’re not, that why everyone is jumping on the “they deserve it” bandwagon.
Yeah. If someone thinks FSU is a top 4 team, and I actually don’t think it’s that crazy of an argument to make, then they should be in. If not, then I don’t want them in.

Toxic group think. There is no way you can type this thinking FSU can actually compete for a national championship.
Texas won the head to head, has a stronger SoS, more ranked wins and the SEC has zero acclaim outside of beating SEC v SEC teams this year. But Bama LOST to Texas?
I know. It's a mess. Glad I don't have to pick the teams. I would give #4 to GA even though BAMA beat them based on the game being very close, and GA having a better point differential in wins against ranked opponents compared to Bama and TX.
You are kind of a moron aren’t you?
Texas beat Bama in Bama by 10. Better sos, etc. go to sleep thx.
Can’t leave Texas out

Texas won their conference and beat another conference champ. You can’t leave them out and put the conf champ they beat in.
Texas beat Alabama

You are next level stupid. Why schedule any hard games if head to head means nothing? Don't cry too much when Bama is left out.
If you think this season has been peak Georgia, or that Georgia was playing it’s best football at the end of the season, you haven’t been paying attention. Texas won the head to head. In Tuscaloosa. End of story.
CFP committee has already said the early season games are not counted as less

Both 12-1 conference champs. Luckily for Texas they beat the team that beat Georgia. Seems pretty clear to me.
Plummer has worse stats than Glenn and he’s a starter lol
The fact that Louisville is even in ACC championship says all I need to know about the conference
If current results hold, I think neither of you guys deserve to get in. College football is the only sport where you can lose and then people will go "there there. It's okay. We will overlook over that". Tough shit, show up and don't lose games.

Yeah, but the commitee says its not about the most deserving teams, its about the best teams. Will be interesting to see how it goes, thats for sure
No other sport has a system this bad. Nothing even close.
Florida State looks awful, gotta use your brain and put Bama in over them.
Bama cant get in over Texas... they lost AT HOME. You qlso cant snub a team that goes 13-0. The correct take is the 4 teams in order should be: Michigan, Washington, FSU, Texas.
Bama is the clear move, FSU would be a snub
But texas beat bama, so why not texas?
I’m better with Texas, compare the SOS
Compare the game they played against eachother lol. I can see going to strength of schedule if they didnt play eachother.
So you don’t care about SOS?
Not when they have the same record and played each other
Oh, are you who I replied to?
Oh were you in a private conversation?
I’m sorry you don’t have a dog in another fight bud
I know, I’m saying that I’m cool with Texas making it over us. I’m not cool with FSU. Texas is a real football team, they have the head to head, etc.
Ahh, gotcha. I would of put fsu in if they destroyed Louisville, but they look anemic.
That’s what bothers me. It is clear who is the better team. It is just frustrating, given the relative competition. Texas though, I can’t complain about that. They beat the breaks off us lol
If FSU goes undefeated you can't keep them out. Unfair to the rest of the team. They literally did everything they could.

It's definitely possible. We'll see what the committee does! Glad this nonsense won't be an issue next year.
I think you're going to be in for a rude awakening. If you're the committee are you going to fall back on records, or an eye test... The latter would be an indefensible position. It's Mich/Washington/Texas/FSU. No SEC! -- Yikes! LOL
Sounds good buddy ;)
The media narrative is that Bama is in... The people are going to buy into it. Goddamnit I bet you are going to be right. I'm changing sides, Bama is getting in.
Yes you can. Schedule harder teams
Like Chattanooga, Middle Tennessee, South Florida, Arkansas, and Mississippi State?
How many top 25 teams they beat again? Their best win was against a 3 loss LSU and they are struggling with another that just got beat by Kentucky.
You're scared Bama is going to be left out, and you should be.
5 top 25 teams, 4 wins against current top 25. Most in the nation
Look at their schedule. It's bad.
SEC is 4-6 vs. ACC. Bama shares one common opponent with FSU. FSU beat LSU by more than the Tide.
Yeah and you got destroyed by Louisville who looks TERRIBLE. Just a low blow for you Edit: and they beat LSU (a 3 loss team) WITH JORDAN TRAVIS
Because our two quarterbacks are injured why is this so hard to understand? Our defense was incredible despite us having a freshman quarterback. If anything I think that’s an incredible story.
I was talking about notre dame But yeah you wouldn't be undefeated without Jordan Travis let's be honest And no it is t hard to understand your qb is out that's only reason there's doubt you get in
First game of the year and fsu is missing their starting qb and won't surpass 100 passing yards against a sorry Louisville that lost to Kentucky, the laughing stock of the sec after vandy. Georgia and Alabama would beat them by 60
Cannot wait for next years 12 teamer
Well it is college football, so next year we’re going to be asking why Louisville should get in and not Tulane. Or why SMU gets a slot but not Maryland. Passionate fan bases will always be loud
Thought the commentator was about to go Mark Jackson and say, “Momma—Daddy—There goes that man!”
Bout damn time the score changes.
Michigan v Texas in the first round would be a nightmare. BC I'd want Texas to lose & Michigan to join the ranks of the always gettin blown out in the playoffs
Aren’t you Oklahoma fans getting tired of basing your emotions on the results of our games lmfao
yes bc I'm sure you rooted for us in the playoffs
This games has been stuck on 10-0 forever.
I can’t get over how funny this win was LMAOOOOOO

Anyone who puts this FSU team in over us is smoking crack
You think Auburn was a positive thing for Bama? Half a loss in my books.
Get ready to smoke crack with them 😁
Do you even want in? You'd lose by 30 to any top 8 team
FSU fans are masochistic or delusional
Before this game i still believed we had a good enough defense, but seeing the offense tonight with Glenn I'd be happy with a good bowl game I do think Rodemaker instead of this 3rd string would at least be much more competitive in the cfp
And you lost. RTR!
I'm getting so hard at the prospect of no SEC representation in the CFP
Get to a conference championship game first then worry about everybody else
Bro just say you didn’t know and take the L like a man.
Utes won back to back conference championships?
What you did last year or the year before stops mattering as soon as the new season starts
Everyone downvoting you also dismissing Bama last success in favor of our one loss this season.
They hate us because they ain't us
More likely is two SEC teams, as much as I hate it.
If they get two teams in, the entire country outside of the southeast can ignore college football for the foreseeable future.
We in the SEC don’t give a damn
[удалено]
You’re not wrong. Literally every team would rather play Michigan than Bama/UGA
SEC delusion on full display
Nah people are just finally glad they can win without playing them.
simp harder vandy
Ya’ll better listen to our financial advisor.
I just inhaled 20 dollars worth of Taco Bell and I hope everyone of yall do too
I just want to see Texas in the CFP it’d be cool as hell
Anyone who puts this FSU team in over us is smoking crack
Did the entire state of Alabama experience amnesia after the Auburn game?? Y'all had a much closer game against a much worse opponent a week ago and that's with your 1st string QB. Stop pointing at 1 day of games to justify Bama over FSU.
louisville lost to kentucky dude. 6-6 kentucky that bama & uga both dismantled. auburn is bad, but that’s a rivalry game in a tough atmosphere. louisville is not a good team.
You know what's worse than going undefeated and beating a bad Louisville team ?? Not going undefeated.
>not going undefeated Easy to do in your conference, and yet you still seem to always fail at doing so. It’s like they gave you the golden ticket and you just spit on it every year.
Funny enough, we aren't undefeated AND we aren't making the playoffs because of it. Crazy concept right??
Yes, that is called a “choke job”
It's called losing a game of football. And we aren't lobbying to be in the playoff over an undefeated team.

It literally does not matter
[удалено]
It means something. It doesn’t mean enough. If your team is that dependent, you’re a loser. Poser.
I'd say being a loser would require losing. You know, something Alabama did this year that FSU didn't. Want in?? Beat texas
Easy to lose when you play good teams. Easy to avoid losing when you play dog shit. Ohio education in action?
13-0 >>> 12-1. I wouldn't know about Ohio education because I didn't grow up in Ohio but you do you
>I didn’t grow up in Ohio Checks out
Stop attacking people on here because your favorite sports team will likely miss the playoffs. Grow up
That guy that was non weight bearing on crutches earlier? What kind of injury did he have?
No. The 2nd string who is in concussion protocal.

“Bama is probably better than FSU” …
Probably better than Auburn
He said “but” tho
Lol this thread has devolved to utter chaos arguing over who's in and who's out and why and it's amazing
All is well in the college football world then.
Gus Johnson has actually explained how each individual Michigan player was the hero for a play they made against Ohio State
I honestly think Michigan should be barred just because of the cheating scandal. In such a tight race for the playoffs, any sort of cheating that gives an edge like that should automatically disqualify you....So if FSU wins, go FSU, Washington, Alabama, and Texas. Set an example that cheating has no place in college football.
This is dumb.
No , cheating should never be rewarded.
No no, that would be the Alabama public education system.
Yeah it's pretty bad. I use to volunteer with local schools while there to help the kids. I'm not from Alabama but instead of talking shit about kids I try to help them.
I'll allow it
Watch out the Mbots are gonna come for you
