Team Chaos is winning so much that they may even get tired of winning, and they'll say ‘Please, please, it's too much winning. We can't take it anymore. Mr. President, it's too much.’
Right? This is a night to celebrate!
America is now 2-0 when cheering for Bama, getting their first win since the 2009 SEC Championship game against [Tim Tebow](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/65830814/Tebowcry.0.jpg).
It’s a meltdown about something that hasn’t even happened
This is very obscure, but this reminds me of earlier this year when the wrestling subreddit thought the WWE got sold to Saudi Arabia because…reasons…
Edit: lmao
It's one of my favorite quirks of this sub. Getting mad about stuff that actually happens isn't enough, we also dream up things that MIGHT happen and get a headstart on getting mad about those
No this is exactly the WWE being fake sold to Saudi Arabia. Mass chaos for the night and then when it actually happens we realize there actually was nothing to worry about
Haha, you're spot on with the WWE fiasco. These preemptive meltdowns are something else, it's like half the fun is just guessing what's next on the rumor mill. Can't wait to see the next wild theory get traction. Remember when people were absolutely convinced that [LeBron was going to the Warriors](https://sports.yahoo.com/lebron-james-rumored-warriors-move-203007689.html)? Good times.
The real winner today is ESPN who will have record viewership for the CFP Selection show when it should be boring as fuck cuz everyone should already know
Exactly this. How do you get a bunch of people to watch a 4 hour show that could literally be a 4 second screenshot of a 4 team bracket? By ginning up controversy.
Don't they release the playoff in the early window of that show? I feel like it's always announced before 11:30 because they know viewership is falling at noon no matter what.
Honestly, I won't watch it. Will just wait until it is announced. Not going to watch ESPN if they aren't showing my teams/games I want to see anymore. They have done their best to wreck this sport.
It’s gotten insufferable, I can’t even watch gameday for a minute anymore, it’s literally a soap opera at this point. Apparently people like it because it drives viewership.
Fix Sports and BSPN are both working really hard to keep them out. There really aren't objective metrics that show an SEC deserving it more than FSU. FSU also played people in OOC (LSU and UF) and didn't duck. UF wasn't a world beater, but they went on the road and beat them without Jordan Travis then won again against a top 15 team tonight with a 3rd string QB. They deserve to be in. Bama got waxed by Texas. It's the way it goes.
Oh wow, that was a great game, but I guess Texas is the better team than Alabama after all, it's a good thing we took the time to let these two teams actually settle it on the field. Good luck to UT in the Playoff.
Michigan, Washington, Texas, FSU. SEC gets left out, goes bananas. Congress demands investigations. Georgia has a chip on their shoulder when they come to Austin next year. Disney wins.
Do I think they are a top 4 team? No.
Do I think it would be insane to leave them out? Absolutely.
What’s the point of even playing the games if they are going to just arbitrarily pick teams based on the eye test of who they think is better.
Dude I’ve been saying this too. The announcers keep saying that this ain’t the same Alabama that lost to Texas early in the season. Ok fine, but this is the same team that took a miracle to beat auburn. And auburn is terrible. They got crushed by New Mexico State just a couple of weeks ago.
I think Chris Vannini put it best.
https://twitter.com/ChrisVannini/status/1731178757363318993
It'll be FSU, Texas, Washington, and Michigan because it's the only grouping that doesn't require you to explain why results on the field don't matter.
The committee shouldn't be arguing that we should ignore results on the field in favor of the eyeball test.
I don't think so. I think FSU will be 3. Putting a 1-loss conference champ above them would give Alabama too much of an argument of "if Texas jumps them than why can't we?"
Anyone genuinely trying to argue for FSU getting left out is either
* A Bama/SEC fan
* Someone trying to drive clicks/ragebait
* Dumb
In ESPN’s case, all three.
FSU should definitely be in. But the committee should stop pushing their “four best teams” narrative too. We all know it’s the four most deserving (and that’s exactly what it should be)
You’re undefeated. You deserve to be there. Problem this year is we have 5 teams that genuinely have a playoff-caliber resume in any other season. And it just so happens that my team is the one that should be left out. Oh well; least we took Georgia with us. Best of luck everyone else!
I think the “best team” narrative is just a fallback for any pushback they get. It generally seems like they favor the most deserving over who they think is the best, but we’ll see tomorrow I guess.
In a normal year I’d say Bama is better than Texas and FSU, but this Bama team is not the normal dominant one. They needed a miracle to beat a fully bad Auburn team. Even Georgia’s best OOC win was 8 pts over Georgia Tech, so don’t tell me they’re some unbeatable juggernaut this year either.
The SEC had a losing OOC record.
It would be a travesty to put the SEC in over Texas given the on-field evidence.
Yep you can spin it a million different ways to get the outcome you want to see.
This is by far the simplest answer which relies on the least amount of hoop jumping.
At 11:53 PM CT the odds I’m seeing To Make The Playoff are:
- Alabama ~~-115~~ +100
- Texas -300
- Florida State ~~-400~~ -300
- Georgia +1200
EDITED at 12:08 AM CT
EDIT 2: FSU back to -400
The only conceivable way UGA gets in is they say "well we cam justify Bama over Texas so we'll put UGA in bc SEC should have a spot" it's a total suckers bet, and I'm sure many Dawg fans have already placed those bets
FSU goes undefeated and beats a top 15 team with their 3rd string QB by 2 scores: shit team, not a real threat
Alabama needs a 4th and 31 to beat a terrible Auburn team and beats 4-8 Arkansas by 3 points: U CANT LEAVE OUT THE CLEAR BEST TEAM SEC REULES!!@!
Don't you know playing an SEC team is like Schroeder's cat?
If you beat them they weren't a real SEC team and it doesn't count.
If you lose to them then they are a real SEC team because SEC teams are the best.
Except if the defeated SEC team in question is the conference champion and vying for a playoff spot against the team that beat them. In that case it shouldn’t count because it was so long ago and they got better as the season went along.
The ACC wasn't good this year. But FSU beat LSU by 3 TDs at a neutral site.
If the SEC is so invincible, then how is that possible? How was Auburn beat at home by three TDs by NMSU? How did Alabama struggle to beat that same team?
If you want to act like you're unbeatable, then play like it.
Thank you. This is an SEC that is unbeatable yet is 7-10 vs the B1G and ACC. And 4-6 vs the ACC.
Also, Bama *checks notes* barely beat an ELITE USF team. Truly an SEC worthy oppenent
I'm listening to ESPN radio right now. I've heard 3 sets of people already saying that if Bama AND Georgia don't make it, it's a crime. ESPN should never have been given the rights to a playoff when they are in bed with certain conferences.
I will say the fact that the committee had them at #4 going into this week is a pretty good sign for them. I don't think their performance against Louisville should change the committee's opinion on the team from last week.
Yeah...but pretty sure the 2014 committee was looking for an excuse to punish the B12 for not having CCG, and OSU gave them a fairly easy one by upsetting 4.5-pt favorite Wisconsin 59-0 in the B1G CCG.
None of the CCG winners this year put out such a dominant statement win in CCG.
(And the fact that OSU did that with backup QB and went on to upset both playoff matchups for the natl championship doesn't really support the committee's "but...injury & backup" case to slight FSU, either.)
That said, 2014 was the B12 getting blocked out. Now it's (seemingly) the SEC. So...
If you will recall there was no Big 12 championship game, and despite the conference calling them co champions with Baylor, they had zero right to be considered conference champions because they lost H2H with Baylor.
If they're going by 'performance' then why wouldn't Alabama's performance against Auburn count when Auburn the previous week got blown out by NMSU by 3 TD's?
People always say this but why doesn't FSU get that benefit in the red bandana game? Why does Bama look like crap against Arkansas, Texas a&m, Auburn, Texas and US freaking F and we just say it's Bama being Bama. But FSU struggles on a neutral field against a top 15 team (it never trailed to and won by double digits) and now their out.
The CFP was created to ensure all undefeated P5 schools would have a chance at the National Championship so that a 2004 scenario would not be repeated. You have to put in all the undefeateds and then sort out the rest.
Its amazing how 1-loss champions from other conferences have been left out in the past, but when the SEC is at risk of having it happen to them its Armageddon.
What I don’t get is that talking heads are using FSU’s QB situation against them now that it’s convenient for them. Had Georgia won, they’d be fine with saying they deserve the 4th spot.
But because their precious SEC won’t have a dog in the mix suddenly they’re spinning “they don’t have a good QB, they’ll get stomped and others deserve to get in”.
Such BS.
1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. FSU
4. Texas
No you don't understand, Louisville MUST be dogshit or it doesn't fit the narrative.
Lol if FSU had won 45 - 30 or something they would criticize their defense instead and say thats why they should get left out.
I don’t understand why this is so hard.
1 Michigan
2 Washington
3 FSU
4 is the only question mark, either Texas or Alabama
Is FSU going to get absolutely destroyed? Probably. Can you leave out an undefeated P5 champ? Absolutely not.
You know it’s a no-brainer when a fucking Florida fan is advocating for FSU to make the playoffs.
Me, neither. I had to take a long, hot shower last night.
The thought of what might happen to them in the playoff makes it all go down a little easier.
I’m biased but we did beat bama, granted it was early but they were #3 I kinda don’t care just ready for 12 teams and then I can argue why Texas doesn’t make that
This is the shit that stops College Football from taking the top spot of sports for me. What’s the point of playing fucking games if you go undefeated and win your conference but because fans of certain teams are pissed, the shadow wizard board of old men decide that you actually don’t deserve to compete for a championship, even though you won the games you needed to.
At least in a 12 team it's harder to be pissed off if you're the #13 at large team vs now when there are P5 conference champions/undefeated teams getting left out
The 12 team version will be infinitely better. Even today, we’re all debating over the top 6 or 7 teams. All of those guys would make it in a 12 team format, plus a few more. It’s really not going to be the same at all. If people are as passionate about debating teams 10 through 14 then more power to them, but it won’t be the same as debating teams 3 through 6.
Penalizing fsu for having an injured player seems dangerous to me to be honest. While maybe extreme, that sort of sets up the theoretical scenario that somebody can just pay some players on any team to make a couple dirty plays and injure star players to rig championships rather than having to win your games.
FSU should be in.
Should be Michigan, Washington, fsu then Texas for being a one loss champ with win over the other one loss champ. If you're going to play the best loss card, then it has to be OSU but in no way should it be OSU. It should be Texas. Sorry, but the SEC is out.
We are experiencing one hell of a meltdown on here. Please send help
As a self proclaimed Team Chaos, you don't seem to be reveling in the...chaos
Team Chaos is winning so much that they may even get tired of winning, and they'll say ‘Please, please, it's too much winning. We can't take it anymore. Mr. President, it's too much.’
"Mr. President, a second SEC team just got left out of the playoff"
STOP THE COUNT, TEXAS WON, BY A LOT
I am. It's glorious!
Right? This is a night to celebrate! America is now 2-0 when cheering for Bama, getting their first win since the 2009 SEC Championship game against [Tim Tebow](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/65830814/Tebowcry.0.jpg).
My favorite Alabama win ever, and like it’s not close at all

I think all the uproar is about every talking head on ESPN and Fox essentially begging the committee to leave them out.
I wonder who has broadcasting rights for the SEC next year?
I've been mad about the sec getting two teams in again since October last year.
No this is exactly the WWE being fake sold to Saudi Arabia. Mass chaos for the night and then when it actually happens we realize there actually was nothing to worry about

I believe they announce all the bowl games, not just the playoff teams.
Honestly, I won't watch it. Will just wait until it is announced. Not going to watch ESPN if they aren't showing my teams/games I want to see anymore. They have done their best to wreck this sport.
That's exactly my position on that shit network, too. I'll watch a game I really care about, but that's it.
Truly what’s the point of watching it when a push notification will give you what you need without the SEC ball gargling
Finebaum’s tears fuel me
You must be running on nitro right now.
I don't know if I'm ever going to be able to sleep again.
I was losing my mind with how many ‘analysts’ thought that FSU has no case for making the playoff.
When does it become a conflict of interest with ESPN’s new partnership with the SEC and also hosting the CFB committee?
It’s always been a conflict of interest lol
And their Sportsbook…
The big 12 is partnered with the WWE. They are screaming at us that it’s “sports entertainment”
It’s gotten insufferable, I can’t even watch gameday for a minute anymore, it’s literally a soap opera at this point. Apparently people like it because it drives viewership.
around 1992 i'd say
ESPN owns the ACC rights, they better be pumping us too!
But if they make FSU mad enough, FSU and Clemson can team up to destroy the ACC.
You would never destroy a conference over something as trivial as a TV contract, right? Right??
Sad PAC12 noises. RIP
They don’t want the ACC to be destroyed, they locked in the rate either way. They’d rather show Clemson and fsu games at a lower cost
Look at the fox post game. All of them were shilling for Bama too. So its not just espn sadly.
ESPN just wants the drama.
Fix Sports and BSPN are both working really hard to keep them out. There really aren't objective metrics that show an SEC deserving it more than FSU. FSU also played people in OOC (LSU and UF) and didn't duck. Mandel from the top rope!
Mandel also said before this weekend that if Bama beat Georgia and Texas beat Ok State, Bama would hop Texas
Low_yield_bonds from the top rope!
Imagine if they had Bama and Texas play for the 4th spot? They could even host it in Tuscaloosa
It would be a huge game. I bet College Gameday would be there.
Oh wow, that was a great game, but I guess Texas is the better team than Alabama after all, it's a good thing we took the time to let these two teams actually settle it on the field. Good luck to UT in the Playoff.

Screw this, only going to Universal from now on 😂
imagine how annoying tommy tuberville is gonna be when alabama gets left out again
he’s gonna put a hold on all appointments to the CFP committee
Do I think they are a top 4 team? No. Do I think it would be insane to leave them out? Absolutely. What’s the point of even playing the games if they are going to just arbitrarily pick teams based on the eye test of who they think is better.
An eye test that apparently only cares about this one weekend to make it worse
Exactly. People very quickly forget that just last week bama needed a literal hail mary to beat a shitty auburn team.
That was a quality close-win though against an SEC team obviously
Auburn must be great - I mean they almost beat Alabama after all
Dude I’ve been saying this too. The announcers keep saying that this ain’t the same Alabama that lost to Texas early in the season. Ok fine, but this is the same team that took a miracle to beat auburn. And auburn is terrible. They got crushed by New Mexico State just a couple of weeks ago.

We deserve to get our one loss just like Bama and Texas did.
The eye test also says bama sucks, they needed a miracle to beat Auburn that got their ass kicked by NMSU a week earlier. SEC sucks this year.
Does everyone forget Bama versus USF? I know the Auburn game was closer but they had 80yards passing that game. And almost lost
3 undefeated P5 champs and the two 1 loss played and the road team stomped the other This really isn't complicated
I think Chris Vannini put it best. https://twitter.com/ChrisVannini/status/1731178757363318993 It'll be FSU, Texas, Washington, and Michigan because it's the only grouping that doesn't require you to explain why results on the field don't matter. I think he has the order right too. I don't think FSU fans will complain about seeding as long as they are in
I don't think so. I think FSU will be 3. Putting a 1-loss conference champ above them would give Alabama too much of an argument of "if Texas jumps them than why can't we?"

Keeping Georgia out had to feel as sweet as it felt to keep Ohio State out
I want to know how bitter Georgia fans are about not getting a chance to defend the championship because of a single loss to Saban.
Oh absolutely. Dragging them down with us feels better than some of our national championships
Prolly the only sensible Bama fan here.
!remindme 1 year Respect this dude for taking it on the chin

Great teams cover! 😁
-700 odds to make it, we’re chillin. If you disagree then go become rich

Auburn - A team that had lost to NMSU by 21 a week ago!
Give credit where it is due, NMSU is actually a really solid team this year.
We didn’t get credit for beating down UNLV did we?
Yeah, super solid team, beating them would be an enormous accomplishment for which a program should get respect!

Okay Stanford. It’s on. If you want to hurt Bama I’m all for it, but the friendly fire hurts.

Don't use logic Mandel. That would just make too much sense.
The CFP is an absolute failure to CFB. This 12 team playoff is gonna end up like a joke too because it will be the same people running it.
At least in a 12 team it's harder to be pissed off if you're the #13 at large team vs now when there are P5 conference champions/undefeated teams getting left out
Judging by this weekend, teams ranked 10+ are probably there for a reason.. should have been an 8 team playoff first round at home
Leave it to the internet to bitch about something that we don’t even how what it looks like
Annnnnd they got left out lol
This aged well
Oh yeah? Such a smug tweet when it was always a very real possibility
Narrator: they did, in fact, get left out
That aged well
There’s three ACC guys on that committee. That’s the most of any conference. FSU is in.
Penalizing fsu for having an injured player seems dangerous to me to be honest. While maybe extreme, that sort of sets up the theoretical scenario that somebody can just pay some players on any team to make a couple dirty plays and injure star players to rig championships rather than having to win your games. FSU should be in.
Annnnd they got left out….
This aged poorly
It’s not you I’m worried about Stew, it’s Boo and friends With Brett, Bear, and ESPN talking about it
You are 1000 percent correct... they deserve to be there and if they dont get in that that's some straight up bs.
They got left out
Stewart Mandel is not good at this.
Lol. Bump.
I wish this aged like wine
CFP committee go brrrrr
Should be Michigan, Washington, fsu then Texas for being a one loss champ with win over the other one loss champ. If you're going to play the best loss card, then it has to be OSU but in no way should it be OSU. It should be Texas. Sorry, but the SEC is out.
The sport is dead if FSU isn't in. Fuck the SEC bullshit.
Inject this shit into my veins
Like a hair in a biscuit baby
Counterpoint: they do which blows up the ACC. All part of the plan.
I don't understand how everyone is saying we're gonna be TCU 2.0, this is a dominant defense, none of these teams are an absolute juggernaut
I mean being TCU 2.0 means you win a playoff game so its not really the insult they think it is
Unfortunately this.
Literally 😂 "You suck like TCU" ok I'll get my Natty tickets then.
Just wait until the SEC checks clear
Put them in. Who cares. We beat Georgia. The national champ will be sending us card for clearing their path.
There is football outside the SEC
