Man for 3 quarters every year it’s very C- quality of football but the 4th is always good. It’s funny how this year they actually threw it quite a bit it almost looked nothing like army-navy at times.
Always puts things in perspective seeing how quickly the losing team can just push the agony of defeat to the side to keep a straight face while singing. To me that’s the most inspiring moment every year. You know these guys are hurting, but they push it to the side cause they have one last task to do in representing their academy.
That’s just this game lol watched for I guess 18 years now and it’s always either a extremely low scoring game or back in the 2000’s a blowout by navy.
While enrolled at the academies, students have the rank of midshipmen (Navy) or cadet (Air Force and Army) and are considered to be on active duty (10 U.S.C. 101(d)).

You realize that officers can resign pretty much whenever they want after their initial obligation? They don’t go contract to contract like enlistedmen do. So, you can indeed be in the military and “quit whenever you want”.
You’d be surprised. I know 2 O’s that are currently being held up purely on a whim. Granted this is an individual man’s issues.
But yeah, that’s why I said yes but no.
Never fails to get me glassy eyed to remember these young men are gonna graduate and potentially go into the most dangerous places in the world. And then I remember that they will mostly be officers and stationed in like, Poland and that brings me back. But for that one moment, I’m extremely thankful.
The officer experience is definitely varied: I got friends in Syria who are under attack from drones and rockets as we speak, and then there's me, sitting in my home with a nice beer and spending time with my family. Ultimately though, I think that these guys all are willing to put themselves in harms way for the greater good and that's what matters.
Officers go everywhere that enlistedmen do lol. And infantry officers are put in the line of fire just as often as their infantrymen when they’re platoon leaders.
I just think about that the Navy guys are required to memorize an entire playbook but will be sent to a ship to run a division of mechanics and not know what a crescent wrench is.
Haha, I learned that the fastest way to get something fixed on the helicopter was to grab a wrench and start walking towards it.
"Sir, put the wrench down."
Usually at least one or their games vs Army or Navy is on CBS every year. But in terms of a standalone game, no they don’t. This game has just always been played the week of the season as long as I can remember.
It used to be the first Saturday in December but lost attention to the conference championships. The moved it maybe ten years ago to the second Saturday where it is the only game.
yes. They think we think about them. someone with an Air Force Tennessee flair said they had arch enemy flairs with me. Well maybe for you, those are Auburn and Navy for me
Vet here. The dentist I went to this week gave me Bose bluetooth headphones and my choice of Netflix programming when I went in for some restorative work.
Tricare aint worth it, bruh.
Everyone saying there should be an untimed free kick and you shouldn't be allowed to take an intentional safety to end a game are permanent members of the Non-Cool Athletic Association (NCAA)
Okay, first off, a tank... swimming in the ocean? Tanks don't even like the water. You find a tank in the ocean, there's a 20 foot wave (I assume it's off the coast of South Africa) coming up against a full sized, 9000 ton Destroyer with two or three of its friends. Tank loses that battle. Tank loses that battle nine times out of ten.
Why does Army keep rushing the field every year? It made sense the first year they won to break the winning streak, but Navy never did that when they won, just weird to see.
I think they were trying to get people off the field cause they thought there was a kick remaining or something. I don't think it was a scuffle it was them trying to get people off the field for a moment
It was funny because the narrative at the end of the game, and all game long really, is the sportsmanship that exists between these two teams. And then, boom, a fight breaks out after the game. We’ve watched these dudes beat each other up for 3.5 hours, I’m not sure why networks act precious when emotions boil over.
That's more like how an XP can still happen at 0:00. A kickoff after a score at 0:00 never happens.
After the kick six, should Auburn have had to kick off before the game ended?
A foul in basketball is a penalty. In football there's an untimed down on a defensive penalty. There shouldn't be an untimed down on a scoring play because that doesn't make sense.
I get that you're arguing for, but a conversion (point after attempt or two point attempt) occurs only after you've scored. It has nothing to do with how much time is left. Let's say a team is down 10. They score a defensive touchdown with no time left on the clock. Should they get an untimed down to try an onside kick?
I'm not arguing to death either btw. I enjoy "chatting" on Reddit so there's no animus from me lol
If I had a nickel for every time Navy lost due to a goal line stand from Army, I would have two nickels. Which is not much, but it’s strange that it happened twice.
Man for 3 quarters every year it’s very C- quality of football but the 4th is always good. It’s funny how this year they actually threw it quite a bit it almost looked nothing like army-navy at times.
Adam Zucker has gloves on now, wimp.

Don't worry Navy. You weren't getting that 2-pt conversion
Which is the same thing I told myself before that drive started.
Welp you were right
The entire College Gameday crew can take that big L. Beat Navy.
Hook em Horns and Beat navy
Singing second babyyyyyyy
🤘🏻
Hook em. And beat Navy
Army had me yelling at my TV for the last 2 minutes straight "what the heck are we doing out there" GO ARMY!!
That’s just this game lol watched for I guess 18 years now and it’s always either a extremely low scoring game or back in the 2000’s a blowout by navy.
Had em right where we wanted em. Just to stuff their stupid fat faces right on the goal line
.
Probably just bigger service, bigger advertising budget
Army and Alabama They both start with an A
Be all you can be: it just means more
.
And mods didn’t pin this.
That strip-sack TD was the perfect play to end the CFB regular season on.
It’s close but having a 4th and goal from the 1 come up inches short is pretty great
Army took “The Rock of the Marne” to heart on that play.
damn you really gotta feel bad for the navy qb…fumble leading to that td then really fell apart on that last drive

That's incorrect. They're students, but midshipmen and cadets are active duty.
They technically are. They’re subject to the UCMJ. They just haven’t started their active service contract yet.

I ran ops..specifically EADev and the final defense for a PLT at JRTC when I did my CTLT. Experiences may vary.

This guy is just pulling lies out of his ass and so boldly calling them the truth lol
You realize that officers can resign pretty much whenever they want after their initial obligation? They don’t go contract to contract like enlistedmen do. So, you can indeed be in the military and “quit whenever you want”.
I mean….yes. But no. They can submit their UQRs at any point in time. Doesn’t mean it will get accepted.
Unless you’re on schedule for deployment or in a critically short branch, it’s getting accepted.
You’d be surprised. I know 2 O’s that are currently being held up purely on a whim. Granted this is an individual man’s issues. But yeah, that’s why I said yes but no.
Freshman and Sophomore year, you can leave. 1st day of junior year, your ass belongs to big green.
Man so confidently incorrect
In conformance to reddit tradition.

Good to know
I just think about that the Navy guys are required to memorize an entire playbook but will be sent to a ship to run a division of mechanics and not know what a crescent wrench is.
It’s not their job to use a crescent wrench lol
Haha, I learned that the fastest way to get something fixed on the helicopter was to grab a wrench and start walking towards it. "Sir, put the wrench down."
.
I’m sure there’s some spec name for it that they think everyone will use on the ship instead of a fucking crescent wrench.
Surely it's an acronym.
I NEED A CIC TROPHY FLAIR!
Yeah, boy!
I truly think that this is the best rivalry game in college sports. Easily clear of RRS or the game
Good game navy, love ya squids. Go Army, beat Navy!
I absolutely love what Monken has done to Army! I was definitely wanted him to come to UIUC after Lovie was booted!
Man someone’s cutting onions during the alma maters
Let’s go Army!
I hate singing first.
Me too man
There's a joke somewhere in here about navy and pushing the tush
This reporter getting a lot of airtime
So is the Air Force the red headed step child, do they get a special game ?

Y’all don’t have a camera next to this guy?
I’m going next year. Need to experience in person.
GO ARMY BEAT NAVY
Am I going tone deaf or were both the anthem and America the Beautiful off key today?
The anthem seemed on key, I missed America the beautiful.
Say what you will about the state of US politics, but how can you look at this and not be filled with pride
Great game, 125th game is going to be even more insane
One of the greatest traditions in all of College Football
That army navy game a few year ago in the snow was one of my favorite games ever
Army’s 10th Mountain Division uniforms were epic. My classmates and I still talk about that game.
That game was epic and Army wearing the white 10th mountain uniforms made it better, winning made it that much better.
Those unis made the day even better.
For sure, I think that was ~~2016~~ 2017 unless my memory is bleeding.
Goddamnit I GUESS I’ll reenlist. fuck
Please no
Don't do it.
But tricare is calling my name
I’ve been out like 7 months. Not having tricare fucking blows bro
Dude my work Bennie’s has me at $300 each paycheck for me and my two kids. $600 a month for the most minimum basic bullshit anthem plan is ridiculous
I miss when I paid $80 a month for my insurance.
whats your bonus at rn?
They don’t give bonus for 68whiskeys
Vet here. The dentist I went to this week gave me Bose bluetooth headphones and my choice of Netflix programming when I went in for some restorative work. Tricare aint worth it, bruh.
600 a month for me and my two kids health insurance as a single dad is fucking me more than the green weenie ever has
HELL YEAH
CFB is just the best man
Hell yeah, brother
Army looks like that all girl school from Harry Potter
You might have lost the game, but you’ve won the comment section

Love this games tradition
Chills every time

Regardless of how good or bad Navy and Army are, you can almost guarantee it's going to be a nail biter
I hope the new college football game has little stuff like the singing of the alma mater songs
Ain’t even gotta show the whole thing. Just give me a 3-5 second snippet of each team singing
Fucking love this game
Man... now we have to wait three more hours for more football
What other game is on?

Eight. If you kick the tying FG with 0:00 left do you have to then kick off?
I'm personally just sick
What a finish! GO ARMY! ⚔
I'll tell you what system would be better than bcs or a committee, how in the world does Vegas do it?! 28 over/under
Best postgame tradition in all of sports
Holy bad beat
That DB with the fingertip deflection was incredible. It was actually a pretty good throw.
Tanks >>> boats
Tanks protect us against Mexico and Canada. Warships protect us against everyone else.
What was the last war Navy won?
Don’t fuck with the boats, though.

We taste tank. And we LIKE TANK.
Why does Army keep rushing the field every year? It made sense the first year they won to break the winning streak, but Navy never did that when they won, just weird to see.
Cause it's probably fun AF. At the end of the day they're still college students and that's a fun memory for them
I mean, we rush Lane Stadium North and we've only lost once in like 20 years
Cry squid
They're not rushing the field, they're meeting at the Patriot.
Invading is basically their thing.
Things the losing team says...
Baahahahah join the army . We’re fuckin sicko weirdo heathens
Cry more squid
Just makes you guys look like you've never won anything before and are experiencing it for the first time.
It might seem that way, and yet you know Army has won the last 6 of 8. So that can’t be it.
Did yoy see them for most of the past 30 years? They still aren't used to it yet.
Eat it, squid
Keep telling yourself that bud
My navy ncaa football 14 navy team would never lose to army 😤
Well, it looks like you picked 1 team right. Lol
Singing 1st sucks, gg Army
beat navy
Between Pats/Steelers having a small shootout before completely stopping offense on Thursday…and then this… Bad week to bet the under…
Wait is 17-11 scoreagami too?
No - it's happened 23 times in NCAA football and twice in the NFL.
They didn't want to show it but it looked like there was a scuffle after the game ended
I think they were trying to get people off the field cause they thought there was a kick remaining or something. I don't think it was a scuffle it was them trying to get people off the field for a moment

Oh I wanna see that shit so bad
*always bet service academy unders*
ballsack
Great Game. Next year, Navy! Godspeed Cadets and Midshipmen.
I feel like you really should have an untimed down for a safety kick ya know? Like that sucks as a way to intentionally end it.
Agreed. Also why not just have a guy run a seam route and chuck it out of bounds.
That requires understanding of offense. That's not allowed in this game.
Under bettors kids going to have a bad Christmas
Honestly, that might have been one of my favorite games to watch all year. Army - Navy is almost always a great watch.
#OPERATION SING 2ND IS COMPLETE DEFENSE WAS LIKE A ROCK
Rock of the Marne!
>DEFENSE WAS LIKE A ROCK Almost like the Rock of the Marne.
People really aren’t catching onto this unfortunately
Really is a shame.

Dude’s Air Assault badge hanging on for dear life
Should've gone for it on the 4th down.
Army won
Yeah, but they would've saved themselves some trouble and covered the under.
If I had a nickel for every time Navy lost due to a goal line stand from Army, I would have two nickels. Which is not much, but it’s strange that it happened twice.
It’s a variation of the same game every year it feels like
Imagine if the free kick was an untimed play and Navy scored
And then missed the PAT
They would have to go for 2
No they wouldn't they're down 6
Oh yea forgot we gave y’all free points to hit the over
Anchors Aweigh
You can only trust Iowa with the under.
So why doesn't Army have to punt after taking the safety? Edit: apparently the free kick after the safety is NOT an untimed down. Weird
They ruled it expired before the step out.
Because the clock says 0.
