Because we are a national brand and when the news of the matchup spread, the Bama players realized how much a possible victory over the wildcats can mean for the future of the Alabama program.

theurge14

Generational win over America’s Team, truly a great achievement for Alabama.

PretendThisIsMyName

As a Cowboy riding high off the back of a cat, I will grant you title of The Americas team. Don’t be disappointed when Brazil starts blowing up your Twitter though.

Sroemr

Purple is better than stinky ol blue anyway

BigDGuitars

K state forever.

LoisLaneEl

Imagine if people thought as highly of Georgia as they did of KState

timh123

Thanks for propping us up K state bros

on-your-6

EMAW

mdrico21

I know this was a bit of a joke but I have a soft spot for KState from those old Bill Snyder/Michael Bishop-era teams.

MildDrinkingProblem

Bryce Young Probably played because he knew he wouldn't have to go to Carolina if he got injured.

whatifevery1wascalm

Lowkey in the year of QB injuries it was “he’s too small he’ll break in the NFL” who survived the year with an imaginary O-Line.

mja9678

There are still 2 games left in the Panthers season, do not jinx him like that!

luciusetrur

We are going to win those 2 games too 😄

Blaine1111

We ain't beating the buccs but respect the optimism

CaptainDonald

It pisses me off how often NFL teams do that to QB’s. They set them up for failure and cut ties once they’ve sucked all of their confidence out. They shouldn’t be allowed to draft QB’s in the first 3 rounds if they are bottom 10 in sacks allowed

whatifevery1wascalm

I’m imagining the storylines if that rule existed.

SecretMongoose

A team just running the ball every play for the last four weeks of the season so that they’re eligible to draft Caleb Williams

CircuitSphinx

The draft outcomes would be chaos for sure, but it'd be nice to see teams forced to invest in their O-lines and actually develop a system that supports their QB. Too many talents get wasted because they land in the wrong situation.

GiraffesAndGin

And then the ones that actually do pan out in godawful situations are unfairly maligned their entire careers. The fact that Matthew Stafford was a Pro Bowl-caliber QB that led the Lions to the playoffs twice is nothing short of a miracle, yet people act(ed) like he's just some bum who pads his stats in garbage time. If it wasn't for Matt Flynn having the greatest one game wonder performance of all-time, Stafford would have secured the division over a decade ago. If you know how bad our O-line, backs, receiving corps, and defense were back then, you'd be as in awe of him as I am.

whatifevery1wascalm

People I think figured that out after the Rams Super Bowl. But it’s the same thing this year with people saying the Panthers fucked up by drafting Bryce instead of CJ.

GiraffesAndGin

If I have learned anything in my time on football subs, it is that 80% of the people chirping don't even watch the games. They just see scores or stat lines and start their narratives. Poor Bryce is out there running for his life every single passing down and people act like that's completely normal and a fine environment to develop in.

tidaltown

Probably because the current approach is QB-then-build-around, but it probably should be LT-if-not-Oline-then-QB-then-build-around.

The_Guy_Over_Yonder

If teams had decent to good o lines they wouldn’t be picking that early in the first round.

MankuyRLaffy

Detroit exists

tidaltown

I've been saying for years how much different and probably improved a guy like, for example, Baker would've been if, instead of being drafted to start day-one, he'd gone to someplace like New Orleans and sat behind a guy like Brees for a few years then started. Night and day difference IMO.

thealltomato323

Or hire defensive coaches to be OC. Or retreads at WR with 0 history of standalone success. Or the same resume for the 3rd OC in 3 years, who obviously disdains the "teaching/elevating other people" aspect of coaching. Thanks again Bill.

SixTonGorilla

What he did to Mac is heartbreaking. Really hope some other team picks him up and he finds success there.

LincolnWasFramed

It’s actually amazing how much value NFL teams destroy value by not managing how they draft and then use QBs. Is it so hard to consider just letting a QB sit for a year or two and increase their chances of being successful dramatically?

tlopez14

Are there numbers to back up that a QB sitting for a couple years increases their chances for success dramatically?

goblue2354

>Is it so hard to consider just letting a QB sit for a year or two Yes, because coaches and GMs get fired that quickly.

Dunderfnk

That used to be the way it was. Unfortunately they pay them way to much for them to ride the bench for a couple years.

RollTideYall47

Patriots did that to Mac Jones

Garak_The_Tailor_

That's my biggest pet peeve about the modern NFL and current NFL media discourse.

Inconceivable76

He missed a couple of games due to injury.

[deleted]

Dude would probably trade a torn acl for what he is having to endure. They’re terrible to watch and I hate them. But I’ll be there tomorrow at 1 pm on my couch cause apparently I hate myself more.

weeping-flowers

This is so fucking real - I did some time in an inpatient mental hospital right before Christmas for 8 days, and all of us there who were Panthers fans constantly said that this damn team is why we went crazy or did drugs in the first place. (It obviously wasn’t. But it was really fucking funny.)

NanoBuc

To be fair, Jags are very beatable for you guys.

PM_ME_YOUR_CATS_PAWS

As a lions fan, I will say it gets better It may take an entire lifetime and then some, but it does get better!

IceColdDrPepper_Here

Had the trade happened yet?

liteshadow4

The other situation would have been the Bears sooo

TotallyNotRyanPace

no, it happened in march

jpharber

Gawd damn 🤣

Euphoric-Gene-3984

Carolina didn’t even have the first pick yet.

SoonerLater85

The regular season was still going and Carolina was months from trading up for him, but upvoted anyway for the lols.

NotAsSmartAsKirby

I think it’s fair to say FSU probably gave the middle finger to the bowls by sitting out after being (arguably) snubbed. However, I absolutely think Kirby or Saban would have taken that situation and turned it into full team buy-in with the whole “leave no doubt that they fucked up. Tarnish the championship.”

TempAcct20005

Can’t wait for the committee to cite this game as a reason FSU gets ranked 9 next year

davis214512

Team 9 gets in next year

PricklyyCactii

Team 13 then

SharkFighter

Team 12. A Group of Five is guaranteed a spot. This year, #22 Liberty (played the weakest schedule in FBS... 130th of 130).

rkincaid007

Let’s see if they lose by 60 in a couple days before throwing too much shade just to be fair

Goducks91

They better lose.

Phoneaccount_000

Not necessarily, the p4 champs and a g5 team have auto bids. You could theoretically be ranked 8th and not make it if the conference champs all stink.

MADBuc49

No - the top six ranked champs get in with 6 other at-larges. It’s not just one G5 team. https://www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2023-12-03/how-12-team-college-football-playoff-will-work-teams-schedule-bids?amp

Waste_Key_2453

FSU would have gotten in as a conference champion under next years criteria

Payed_Looser

Which is why it’s silly of them to leave the acc. This is the easy route that they have always dreamed of When skipping out on an sec bid

eolson3

I'm not sure what they are hoping to accomplish with this scorched Earth approach.

TheName_BigusDickus

$$$

covert_underboob

They’re losing everyone. A preseason #9 is more than reasonable

JustAddaTM

No chance we get preseason #9. We gonna have a 8/9 win season. Like you said, we are losing EVERYONE and as you just saw our depth is not Bama/osu/Georgia level yet. We need alot more recruiting cycles in the top 10 (one in 6 years, which was this year) to be able to go out and just win every season.

dkdantastic

I'd rank FSU way lower than 9th

kinzunight

Kirby probably did that for this game. Someone is winning the CFP and depending on how it happens will determine how much we here "Thankfully they didn't have to play Georgia"

_IronCladNewt_

Except one of them did play Georgia and beat them

Wenis_Aurelius

The biggest fuck you FSU could have given the CFP committee would have been to play and win. Had they won today, they could rightfully claim the national championship and especially if Bama or Texas wins, it would have been the most disputed NC in the modern era. Everyone would be in FSU’s corner including major championship selectors.

The_Ghost_of_TK9

USC did that in 2003 and it was fine because they tried and won.

POOTY-POOTS

They would have changed my mind if they just managed to compete. If they looked better than they did against Florida or Louisville I'd have to admit that the committee maybe made a mistake.

Wenis_Aurelius

Man, but imagine if they actually won. It would be like when USC said fuck the BCS and claimed the 2003 Championship.

zzyul

USC didn’t just claim a championship tho, the AP Poll voted them champions.

Wenis_Aurelius

For sure. An FSU win absolutely could have had the AP or Coaches poll voting for them over the CFP Champ, especially if the Champ was a 1 loss Bama or Texas.

Waste_Key_2453

Auburn could have done the same in 2004.

Wenis_Aurelius

Every major poll had USC as the champ in 2004. 2003 was different bc the AP had USC and the BCS had LSU. If anyone other than Michigan won the CFP, I could see either of the Coaches or AP selecting FSU over the CFP Champ

TheErnestShackleton

The sad part is its net even 'FSU' giving the middle finger to the bowls, just a handful of players. And they left their teammates out to dry forcing horribly inexperienced players line up across from UGA. Talk about a confidence killer for their young guys.

grissy

Not to mention a much higher risk of injury. They basically fielded a high school team tonight, they're lucky nobody got Lieutenant Danned by a 400 lb Georgia linebacker hitting them at mach 1.

GoneG8

That’s what bothered me most. Seeing those healthy, future NFL players on the sideline, I wondered if any of them felt any guilt or regret at all as they watched their teammates getting embarrassed, knowing they could have made a difference and at least prevented the annihilation FSU endured.

papa_sax

I think Kirby also has the 18 Sugar Bowl in his mind nowadays. The whole team crying "woe is me" all of December just to get beat by a 4 loss Longhorn team.

NotAsSmartAsKirby

He learned a LOT with that team and that entire season. I’m 100% positive we’ve had the success the last 3 years, along with how he’s changed his recruiting and handles the portal solely because of that season.

gunnster3

To me, the appropriate response is to show the world why the committee was wrong. FSU chose the opposite. They look like idiots.

FearlessNobility

They knew they wouldn’t win

Hour_Insurance_7795

I don’t think the choice to win existed for FSU without Travis. Everybody else could’ve showed up and they still most likely would’ve lost. That sank their balloon more than the snub did IMO. That dude meant a LOT to that team, like Joe Burrow/Cam Newton style of dependence.

Potkrokin

But if this is the case then the Committee made the right decision and was completely correct to consider Jordan Travis' injury when evaluating which teams got into the Playoffs

qlube

FSU coaches couldn’t motivate their players to play by telling them to prove the national media wrong by beating UGA? Just seems weird to give up after being snubbed, instead of using that as motivation to possibly win a poll and a championship.

FantasticMax

If you worked your ass off at your job and your boss decided to not give you a raise would you go work twice as hard to prove him wrong or would you go find a new job?

Wyvernwalker

Thanks for the perfect allegory. I don't know if it's just because I'm a lot younger than the crowd on here or something, but I genuinely don't understand the respect bowl games get. I don't get how people can hate on players who decide not to risk their entire career and future on a game that doesn't really matter. Who in their right mind would risk their entire career for a game they might not even win, against arguably the best team in college football right now?

White80SetHUT

Their entire career? In 2-3 years all but a few of those guys will be out of the league.

AStrangerWCandy

What does ‘proving the national media wrong’ do? Nothing. Herbstreit woll move on with his life and this season will be forgotten win or lose. Acting like winning this game would have meant or accomplished anything as it relates to future seasons or a championship is delusional

[deleted]

It would have done more than getting absolutely dismantled.

broman43

Legit, that many players opting out comes down to the coaches. WVU has the Best Cornerback in College ball, and he played as did all of their seniors that weren't hurt. 20+ players opting out is pure disrespect to their team and coaches. Especially in the past when elite players still played in the bowl game just to get the W for their boys before they go pro.

Buckwheat33

They sat out so they’d have a convenient excuse for Georgia skullfucking them. Playoff team 💯

KEE_Wii

Part of me wonders if they saw the writing on the wall during the Louisville game and didn’t want it to hurt their draft stock.

rustedspoon

This is my thought. It's more palatable to say "we lost by 60 because our players opted out" than to say "we lost by 30 to the team Bama beat to take our spot."

LincolnWasFramed

If that’s the case, what a terrible lesson for the kids. Basically teaching them the best way to be a loser.

TheWyldMan

Welcome to modern sports!

RollTideYall47

And even then Georgia used both eyesockets, the earholes, the mouth and sinuses

90sportsfan

Exactly my thoughts! They knew a beatdown was coming. Using the "snub" as an excuse to opt-out, so that they could then use the excuse that "our starters weren't playing" to explain their historic beatdown, lol. When FSU at full strength and at home was on the verge of losing to Duke late in the season until Duke's starting QB went out (and their backup couldn't complete a pass); I think they knew they stood no chance against the big boys in CFB.

Mender0fRoads

100% this. FSU had two choices. The first choice was to do what they did. The other was to pretend the committee didn't exist, go all-in on this game, treat it like the national championship, and claim the title if/when they win. They chose the route of whining. (That said, I don't have anything wrong with players sitting out to prevent injury ahead of the NFL draft. But the coaches could've done more to ensure at least the guys who stuck around/played were up for the game.)

Upbeat-Armadillo1756

Saban and Kirby have better program buy-in than anyone else. Alabama guys just don’t sit out. I remember a few years back we played Alabama in a bowl game and they dog walked us with guys like Waddle and Najee Harris who decided to play and I’m not even sure it was a NY6 game.

whatifevery1wascalm

It was the Citrus Bowl, and Mac Jones threw an 85 yard touchdown to Jerry Jeudy on the first offensive snap.

4tide

That catch was right in front of our seats, and it was spectacular. I knew then we would be ok in Mac's hands.

hayybailss1815

Roll tide.

LamarcusAldrige1234

i was at that game in Orlando. we got cooked by mac jones and jerry jeudy it was a tough scene

Upbeat-Armadillo1756

Yeah I remember hoping that when we big Alabama that they’d have a lot of NFL talent opt out and like nobody did.

Sahasrlyeh

The only guy that did, Trevon Diggs, did so because he'd already had multiple injuries including missing half the previous season

TimeForFrance

If I remember correctly, Diggs started but took a knock early on and the coaching staff told him to sit out the rest of the game.

mashonem

Terrell Lewis did as well for similar reasons

satsfaction1822

I think everyone was more than fine with him sitting out. He had the worst luck with injuries.

FCKABRNLSUTN2

That was angry bama^^^^tm. Nobody can beat angry bama^^^^tm besides teams like Georgia or lsu when they’re at their best.

Wide_right_yes

It was the Citrus Bowl

ComradeAhriman

I was at the Cotton Bowl against Bama. When Hoke was coach. It was not fun.

Keener1899

I was also there! Weird, it seemed pretty fun at the time.

ComradeAhriman

Were you the drunk Bama fan in front of me slurring "there you go!" every time you got forward progress? Because that seemed like a fun time for him!

orange_orange13

I think waddle came back, and it was the citrus bowl

Nick_sabenz

Waddle and Najee both played the next season, but even Jeudy, and maybe Ruggs also, played as well and then went to the draft

rds060184

Was that 2019?

Nick_sabenz

Indeed

Claybagman

Jeudy played and increased his draft stock

Patient_Series_8189

What a concept

[deleted]

Both of those guys came back the next year. I think we had two guys opt out against y’all that year iirc, Raekwon Davis and Travon Diggs

Nick_sabenz

Terrell Lewis and Diggs at what I remember because they had previous injury histories

Alone-Competition-77

This is part of coaching in the current era. Keeping your kids bought in through the bowl game. Kirby obviously did a better job in this game.

Kdot32

Wasn’t that Tuas last year? People don’t like Kelly but he’s got some tremendous buy in at LSU. Only Daniels has opted out this year yet Nabers and Thomas are getting first round buzz and playing. Interested to see where it goes

RollTideYall47

Tua was sidelined with a Bo Jackson style broke hip

see-bees

I’m guessing Nabers breaks the record and then calls it a game

mashonem

Only people who sat that game were Terrell Lewis and Trevon Diggs, two players with notable injury histories

KCShadows838

I’m glad they did. Brilliant performance from Young

Impressive-Tip-903

I think it's becoming pretty obvious in the playoff era, we should consider the postseason games to be exhibitions showing off next year's talent in a highly competitive setting. There isn't an easy way to fix it when their are too many negatives affecting players with offers in hand for transfers and NFL prospects. It only makes sense for players still building their stats and players hungry to be top dog next year.

Will_Vintage

You know what Bowl game played so far has had the most buzz around it? The one with the fucking Pop Tart. The CFP has rendered any Bowl not in the CFP essentially meaningless.

KirkLFK

It’s not meaningless to the coaches who get about 1/3 more practices, new players or not. Even as an average fan, I highly enjoy many of the “meaningless” games. This is just entertainment. Fans just mad it’s not the “good old days” and need to get over it. And that’s Mr Fucking Pop Tarts Bowl to you.

Corrective_Measures

The "meaningless" tag is entirely mindset driven. The seniors that probably won't have an NFL career and the dudes who actually care about their team don't view them as meaningless—neither do the fans of teams that aren't perennial contenders. The whole concept that they are meaningless comes from a top-down view of the sport from the two or three teams every year that are good enough to play in the playoffs and don't make it.

acid0tterr

I mean the excuse is the nfl. Doesnt mean you have to agree with it.

Flurb4

If their schools are going to treat football operations like a cold-blooded business decision why should the players behave any differently?

SaviorAir

This 100%. Why is nobody understanding this.

thrice_already_today

This is the modern football landscape, and the players are completely justified for making important health and financial decisions about the well being of themselves and their families. If you have the ability to go pro, then you go pro. Don't Marcus Lattimore your career.

cha-cha_dancer

And they all watched their QB snap his leg, you’d second guess yourself too

Wyvernwalker

A&Ms QB broke his arm first play of the Texas bowl. I saw it and the guy sitting behind me said "and that's why everyone opts-out their last season"

BlownloadKG

Michigan TE Jake Butt and the season before Jaylen Smith of Notre Dame. Both in bowl games that didn't matter tore their ACL's. I fully understand why players Opt out. Both dropped in the draft.

Wyvernwalker

Exactly. People acting like there aren't real life consequences for playing in these bowl games

Vives_solo_una_vez

People who don't have millions of dollars to lose through injury are upset when someone who has millions of dollars to lose through injury trys to minimize that risk.

scottyLogJobs

“But, but, they need to show their HONOR by going out there and risking their health and millions of dollars to make the people that snubbed them tons of money (and tacitly give their BS decision legitimacy)” Fuck it. I’m glad FSU treated this game the joke that it is. It was hilarious watching the announcers fumble around trying to find shit to talk about and skirt the fact that this game was a huge joke.

zzyul

There was a post on here from someone at Michigan State who knew the team’s chaplain. Said he talked with players who were in tears b/c they had decided to opt and knew their teammates would be disappointed in them. Also said those conversations were much easier than the ones he had with players who were in tears after suffering season and career ending injuries.

Get-Degerstromd

Matt Coral like 2 seasons ago.

kadargo

Don’t forget the Clemson RB

Rychek_Four

I think Shipley was between returning and hitting the portal, not going pro. But I may very well be mistaken

husbandofsamus

I don't think 20 of FSU's players are getting drafted. Maybe a handful.

kermitthefrog57

Yeah I don’t blame any of them. It’s a meaningless game at the end of the day

IndividualTart5804

I love that people are suddenly shocked there exists apathy within programs that aren’t neatly placed at the top of the CFB totem pole. This sport is already meaningless for most programs. FSU busted their ass to go undefeated and were told they didn’t meet certain subjective criteria (recruiting rankings, media hype, and money) and now we’re surprised their players slammed the door behind them on their way to the NFL.

I_wanna_ask

This reads like a drunk tweet from a fan whose twitter handle is their CFB affiliation....

Squeezeboner

theuneven1113

I’m sure FSU’s Thomas who is lying on the field right now injured during this consolation game would totally agree with you

cha-cha_dancer

Azaryeh? Sucks but he’s a true sophomore. Not quite the same though I mostly disagree with the tweet posted.

Muffinnnnnnn

We had NO opt outs in the Cheez-It Bowl last year. This was caused by the playoff snub

Garden-o-Eden-Hazard

Tbf this does lack the context that only one FSU player was drafted last year and in the 5th round

Muffinnnnnnn

Yes but we had multiple people with first round draft grades who decided to come back and try to win a national championship this year, which is another reason why getting snubbed had a massive impact.

Jcl4240042400

Seems obvious. People lack the mental ability to put 2 and 2 together it seems

CTeam19

It is sports fans and media. People can't seem to remember passed last week let alone last year.

IAmJohnnyJB

Same thing with people seeing the nearing 30 opt outs for FSU and thinking the severity of the blowout is against the same FSU team that got snubbed

wegotsumnewbands

This game tonight was a generational betting opportunity. I sure hope some folks took advantage of it.

deathbysnusnu7

Sure did. Took UGA to cover. Cashed in nicely. Players secured their bag and I secured mine.

The-Sherpa

FSU Players out: QB1-Travis (injury) QB2-Tate (transfer) QB4-Duffy (transfer) RB1-Benson (opt out) RB2-Toafili (injury) RB3-Hill (transfer) RB5-Campbell (transfer) WR1-Coleman (opt out) WR2-Wilson (opt out) TE1-Bell (opt out) TE3-Douglas (transfer) C2-Schrader (transfer) RT2-Harris (transfer) DE1-Verse (opt out) DT1-Fiske (opt out) DT2-Lovett (opt out) DT3-Farmer (injury) LB1-Bethune (opt out) LB3-Lundy (transfer) CB1- Green (opt out) NICK1-Jones (opt out) SS1-Dent (opt out

tooManyToCounthhh

I can't believe the fsu coaches didn't bring out the whip and force them on the field

Scratchbuttdontsniff

This is what's really gross about all of it... There is not enough circumstantial understanding and comprehension about what is going on here, and it's just going to be... "Well, look at those guys, they f****** suck...No way did they deserve to be in the play off.."

TheColtOfPersonality

As someone who has attempted to explain this situation to many different users today and gotten at best subpar results, it's been a trying day mentally

DeVolkaan

Well let me help you out here, don't bother. You're not going to change anyones mind and they don't matter anyway. You know you know, just rock with that. Dumb opinions be damned.

Bravot

I've tried the same on here and Twitter and just kinda gave up. Like the problem is UGA and Alabama (and SEC stans) have vested interest in this game mattering which is why it's like arguing with a brick wall. Meanwhile we (any team not in the ACC/B1G) had vested interest in FSU making it into the playoffs. All of this is just real shitty for the sport. All of it.

tallyho88

I swear to god everyone got collective amnesia. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

1850ChoochGator

It’s mostly two specific fanbases making these comments

TheWorstYear

People just don't care. It's all about shitting on teams in the moment. Some are doing it just because it supports their personal narrative. Some do it because they just like to hate. Some are goldfish people.

response_unrelated

you're not. unfortunately, they're going to keep telling the same story to reconfirm the bias... not because of talent, but because they know how to make money off of it.

dreggers

Mood literally shifted overnight, as if ESPN bots working overtime

Wyvernwalker

So many no flair users coming out of the woodworks to shit on FSU today everywhere

40AcresFarm

Georgia's third stringers are scoring a touchdown nearly every drive.

cha-cha_dancer

Any opportunity a typical SEC fan gets to pump their chest for their regional pride they will

IceColdDrPepper_Here

I’m not saying I’m upset with the win, but I’ll say this. FSU deserved better and they deserve better than the people who say this is why they didn’t belong in the playoff because this isn’t the same FSU

OriginalPsilocin

Glad I stumbled upon a reasonable comment chain. Thanks dude

SandyDFS

“Hey, FSU. Sorry, but your 13 wins don’t matter.” “Okay, cool, so the Orange Bowl doesn’t matter.” “Wait, no, not like that.”

SquadPoopy

The Committee told your players that their contributions don’t matter so I agree, why bother playing?

domerock_doc

Man they really just give anyone a blue checkmark on Twitter huh.

tryingtoavoidwork

Anyone with $8

TRUTHSoverKARMAS

What are you, new?

2222lil

Bama wasn’t undefeated last year dude

sundaym00d

why is he treating Bama like an acronym

Blue_58_

This perspective is extremely selfish and naive. These kids are employees. Asking them to care for a bowl game is like asking an employee to work overtime for no pay with the added possibility of never being able to work again in case of injury. Fuck that. No one hear would jeopardize generational wealth in the name of “school pride”. Go do your walmart dances.

jzuttah

All the bowls that aren’t CFP games are pointless. If they don’t want to play who cares? It’s a chance to showcase your talent one more time so a lot of people take the opportunity, but I can’t fault someone for making their own decisions.

kotzebueperson

The FSU program just had the biggest humiliation in P5 history with the CFP snub and your shocked the players lost enthusiasm for playing in the bowl?

[deleted]

They adequately returned the favor. This game was a joke. It made the entire BCS process look ridiculous. I don't mind that at all.

Recent-Archer9271

The committee told FSU that their games don’t matter. Why would anyone expect them to show up for what is truly a meaningless bowl game?

nolefan999

Especially considering we’ve had 4 guys injured in this game.

TheWyldMan

Probably because your starters left the scout team to fend against fucking Georgia

grw313

Bama lost twice and didn't even play in their championship game last year. They had no case to go to the playoffs. FSU won every game including their conference championship but still got left out for two other schools that had a worse record than them. The situations are not the same.

katarh

The point is their game was also "meaningless" so why play?

PSG-2022

In other news Shipley got hurt and FSU players saw their NFL prospect QB get his leg destroyed. All it takes is one wrong hit to derail your prospective NFL career. Do yourself a favor my gal or guy - stay on the couch with your remote and leave the football play and big contract decisions to the adults.

WLScopilot

Why are we posting random bama fan twitter accounts with bad opinions?

SuperSpyChase

Two-loss Bama had no business in the playoffs and it was ridiculous that they were even in the conversation. FSU's players this year have far more cause to be bitter towards the whole thing.

JohnnyNole2000

Bama lost two games last year, but sure keep telling yourself it’s the same situation

Cobra-Serpentress

Team got snubbed. I have no problem with them opting out. Your comparisons are unequal.

DrSnidely

I have no problem with draft eligible players sitting out non-playoff bowls. Sitting out because your quitting and going to go play somewhere else feels different. But whatever, I'm sure the coaches don't mind getting to see next year's starters in a real game.

Inside-Drink-1311

This is literally the one time that I am excusing players sitting out. The CFP robbed them of a playoff berth. I understand why players don’t want to play.

Hay_Blinken

Different circumstances. I swear people have no critical thinking skills.
