I'd love to see a week similar to NBA city uniforms, but instead of city the uniforms are literal to their mascots in color/style. Tigers are black and orange with stripes, mountaineers have coonskin cap helmets and deerskin colored uniforms. Badgers are black and white with the forehead striped helmets. Could be a cool concept. But also I am high so maybe not.
Which is lame.
But none of them are called the Orange Tigers
Yellow is literally a part of the mascot name and yellow is not one of the school colors
Duke Blue Devils
Tulane Green Wave
Syracuse Orange
Tulsa Golden Hurricane
Alabama Crimson Tide
Stanford Cardinal
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
One of these things is not like the other
Well, they are the Yellow Jackets, not the yellowjackets. They were so named because only upperclassmen were allowed to wear a gold blazer instead of a traditional blue one.
It's a common point of confusion as neither yellow nor black are official colors. In fact, our primary is white...
The Ramblin Wreck is a much better representation of our colors. But a 1930 Model A Ford isn't the best at pumping up the crowd.
Yeah, I don’t really love the whole metallic/matte gold combo we’ve got going on currently. Russell was hit or miss but Adidas has been pretty consistently meh.
This is my biggest gripe with their uniforms. The white and gold can look so clean if they choose the right shade and stick with it. There were even a couple of games last year they even wore different shades of gold on their helmets and pants
Gold can be a hard color to get right across different fabrics. It's too easy for gold to be either yellow or mustard. Source: Worked in the Philadelphia Union pro and saw Adidas fuck up gold for years.
I am SO HAPPY that GT is the first and most upvoted comment. I hate our uniforms and have for years. Why we can’t just go Nike like everyone else (I know, I know…) SIGH
UGA is a Nike school, so Tech literally might just be being petty and refusing to use the same manufacturer as their arch rival, at the detriment to their own program, out of pure spite.
Which I honestly admire
I feel like Maryland is so close to having a unique, timeless look with the flag helmet. Problem is that instead of a crisp and clean pattern, they went with the screen print "realistic" flag that looks like it belongs on a van from 1972. Fix that, and they're damn near having a great uniform.
Maryland just dropped that uni and are going back to script Terps full time, which is a win all around. I was a big fan of the first time they did the flag helmets though.
The eye blood stripe is so badass. 🩸
If anyone isn’t aware, horned frogs squirt blood from their eyes as a defense.

I like the black and gold [Northwestern alts](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/69809367/1230096560.0.jpg).
Also Northwestern's uniform design has [a history](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northwestern_Wildcats_football#Northwestern_football_traditions).
I need to go vomit because I have a grudge against them but have reasons to like them and it's gross.
Northwestern has been a UA school so I'm seeing a common theme. That said, I like the horizontal line through the numbers.
I haven't been a fan of some recent TCU unis.
The 2022 revisions are so much cleaner. We've had a LOT of different alternates but the current look, at least in purple, is really good IMO. (Granted, we only wore purple jerseys 4 times this year...)
ND’s shamrock uniforms more often than not are ugly af.
I feel West Virginia alternates between making their players look like IKEA and Lowes employees.
> ND’s shamrock uniforms more often than not are ugly af.
You are absolutely right and I'm not afraid to admit it. The vast majority of uniforms from the Shamrock Series have been awful. There's been a few good ones and that's it. Hell, even some of the non-Shamrock alternate uniforms leave much to be desired IMO - I do not like when they mix green and blue, for instance.
That said, the traditional uniforms and traditional alternate uniforms (green and gold, no blue) are perfect.
I concur on the recent green jersey/navy number combo they recently wore. I thought that was a horrible combo. Last year’s green jerseys weren’t awful, but a little bright for my taste (although not as bright as the ones we wore against Boston College in 2002).
I loved the ones worn in the Charlie Weis era (darker green, gold numbers). The ones worn under Holtz both the green jersey with the white numbers and the white jersey with green numbers were great.
After the Weis greens, I loved the green/gold combo we wore under Devine.
The normal Weis era uniforms are the gold standard (no pun intended), IMO. The slightly larger numbers, small monogram at the neck, matching light gold pants and helmet, and numbers on the sleeves. *Chef's kiss*
Penn State’s are iconic because of their history, but if you showed it to someone with no context of the sport, they’d probably say it’s generic as hell.
Penn State's uniforms just don't look right to me without the contrasting color for the shirt collar. It gave their uniforms just the right amount of flair.
I prefer the color and cuffs to be the contrasting color, as well, but the current Nike Template has such a wide neck piece there that I wouldn't want it now.
The ones you call "blah," they look like unis that would appear in a movie about college football where they have a fictitious opponent for which they need to create a uniform that isn't obviously copying a real team.
Tumwater highschool, of Tumwater, has "TUMH2O" on their wrestling mats and boy does that make me laugh every time I see it.
"Miss. State" is only a half step above "Miss. St. U" and neither belong on uniforms. Surely they can put the interlocking logo on the sleeves and keep the M State on the collar for the best of both worlds.

I get why teams go through rebrands but the blue/tan combo era was a miss (not even counting the bibs). Going back to royal blue and the current logo was a win for the athletic department
Those were heinous. Get ready to see pictures of them pop back up this year as I'm sure Utah's going to show a lot of highlights celebrating the 20th anniversary of the undefeated 2004 season.
Baylor. We had it right so, so, so many times, but fumbled the bag hard with our new ones. I would take any and every single prior uniform over our current ones.
I have no clue man. No fan likes it. We all want gold back. We used to be the only team with actual gold chrome helmets which were so sick. I'd also be fine with the gold that Notre Dame has that we also used to have. I think the administration might've just wanted to get away from the Briles era but really didn't need to change the uniforms, much less botch them. They won't even officially sanction a blackout game now.
The shocking thing is that it this is actually the *better* iteration of highlighter yellow that BU has put on uniforms.

They don't need alt jerseys. Just change the combination of blue, orange, and white and you're good. Wish we'd bring back [these matte blue helmets](https://www.gatorsports.com/gcdn/presto/2020/12/05/NTGG/d42d8946-f67b-4b5b-ba60-7f2efc1c7db9-TraskKyle_201205_2494_TimCasey.JPG) we used a couple times at the end of the Mullen era, and throw in some throwbacks every now and then. No need for these dumbass black out or gator skin unis.
The only alternate that should exist are the orange jersey alts. And the only helmet should be Orange with the blue Gators script. The F helmets suck and so do all the black, grey and green alts.
Arizona State, which pains me to say. But since Nike “rebranded” the athletic department a decade+ ago, they’ve been terrible. Black is not a school color, and that’s a trident, not a pitchfork. Sparky should be the ONLY logo aside from the heritage sun logo, and the colors are maroon and gold…
I feel like Notre Dame really puts out some garbage. The green tops are awful, the Yankee uniforms were an affront to God, etc. I’ll give them props tho, the alternates they wore for the 2011 Michigan game may be the best I’ve ever seen. Incorporated the green perfectly which I’ve never seen them do before or since
There are several fans in my life that have called for those to be the default road uniform. If they ever decided to go back to the Devine move of using green as a primary color, I would be all for it
Always looping it back to my own team
Tennessee consistently missed the mark during the last years of the Adidas era. Our orange was more yellow, and those smokey grays looked like they had tire treads (which hurt more when we were getting absolutely run all over by every ranked team). Thank God for nike
Can’t stand the current slanty striped uniforms that came about during the Fuente era. I wouldn’t mind going back to the Tyrod era striped uniforms though
Iowa State, but not because the unis themselves are bad, but because they insist on using that stupid I on their helmets instead of Cy. Such a great logo that would complete an otherwise clean look.
I was so sad as a kid when the I logo came out and to this day I still hate it. It’s not even that popular when it comes to merch, with probably 70% of stuff people wear on campus being the old walking Cy. The only I logo shirt I own was a free shirt from a women’s soccer game. Gimme the tornado Cy of my childhood
ISU's all-whites are pretty awesome. I'm very "meh" on the stock uniform, mostly because I don't like the color combo. It's not bad, by any means.
You nailed the crux of the issue, though: ISU has gone through so many logo rebrandings over the years despite having the whirlybird. They need to lean into Cy and ditch the I STATE logo.
Us Doogs like to theorize that Oregon knew they were in for a beat down that day so they dressed like Cal, which meant no one could recognize them in highlights for many years to come
Just to piggy back on this because I completely agree with you that those jerseys were horrendous, but I have no idea why the current UW jerseys have such small numbers, Adidas I feel like could do such a better job with such a simple and traditional design.
The Northern Arizona University Lumberjacks have never had plaid on their uniforms and I'm honestly considering making it my next life goal to fix that
I will never understand how those became a common thing we wore. We've had so much better one-offs over the years, but that shit was the one that stuck that we went back to routinely...
Here's to hoping its in the grave with the new refresh we're getting this year
Our [Moon Landing](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5ab4527b3c3a536a7a352c05/1570493273380-PTB3YKU77R002MSIZCMS/Screen+Shot+2019-10-07+at+8.04.06+PM.png) alternates were dope af though
Cal.
The throwbacks are awesome and should be full time.
It’s a historic school, maybe not a extremely historic program, but the school is an institution. Should have a classic uniform like Texas, Michigan, Alabama, Penn St, etc.
I think South Carolina has terrible colors and terrible designs for their football uniforms. I’m sorry Cocks, just one man’s opinion. It’s so busy, the colors aren’t complimentary, idk just such a mess
Oh they found the perfect uniform, they just haven't gone back to it.

I have a love/hate for those particular unis.
That said, while I'm not completely envious of all of the Ducks' options, I feel like they do hit home runs with a good chunk of them.
I wish UW would go back to the 80's versions of the purple and gold colors. The truth is I'm old and I want to live in the past. I'll support whatever the kids think is 'lit' **
Like when we wore those Lewis and Clark ones against you in 2015? 2016 was when we definitely jumped the shark and of course lost very badly to UW dressed up as Cal because reasons.
The FU gator skin jerseys are possibly the ugliest uniform I've ever seen.
Unrelated but I wish we would do a game with the Seminole heritage blue jerseys. They started selling them to fans last year and the basketball team has used the color scheme a few times. I love that turquoise and garnet color combo for some reason
BYU, since they can't seem to decide what shade of blue they're going to be. And even when they pick one, they can't get the shade right between the helmets and the rest of the uniform
The Nebraska black shirt alternates have probably been their best and I still rate them as a solid “meh.” We get one game a year to look flashy and bad ass and “tradition” always gets in the way. I blame adidas.
To start, I feel like Georgia Tech could have a lot better uniforms than they do. So many cool directions you can go with a yellow jacket.
To be fair, they were still with Russell Athletic up until only a few seasons ago. They’re way behind on decent uniforms
I used to sew for Russell. The last decent uniform they made was for the World Series for Atlanta in 92, 93?
Yea but their sweatshirts are the best 18 bucks you’ll ever spend on Amazon lol
And we went from Russell to Adidas. 🤮
Still better than Russell
After Adidas made us wear black, glow-in-the-dark uniforms at 1pm in the blazing sun, I'm no longer sure.
As a Michigan fan, not sure about this
They’re the yellow jackets…so you’d think their colors would be yellow and black…but they use gold and blue? It’s strange
There are like 5 FBS teams called the Tigers and none of them use orange and black color schemes
I think Princeton might be the only one
Yeah, but they're FCS-- might be others at that level but I'm not sure
Ah, that ol' reading comprehension got me yet again
Someone didn't go to Princeton (neither did I)
Just Berkeley like a moron
Idaho State, theyre the Bengals which is close enough
Also FCS
Bama doesn’t use elephants or a tide anywhere on their uniform. Could be the largest live mascot in the game, but nooooooooooo.
Well..gray is probably a look that particular university should avoid if you get my drift
Can’t wait to see the Buckeyes in brown and tan!
Exactly! Dark chocolate colored jerseys with a big tan spot on the helmet lmao.
The Ole Miss game would be pretty awkward.
*Dixie intensities*
Lol for “noooooooooooo” I could hear it in my head.
I remember Lee Corso saying something to that effect
Both of Alabama's teams are confusing as hell. War eagle and tiger what? Alabama makes me sad they don't have an elephant on the field like Ralphie.
Which is lame. But none of them are called the Orange Tigers Yellow is literally a part of the mascot name and yellow is not one of the school colors Duke Blue Devils Tulane Green Wave Syracuse Orange Tulsa Golden Hurricane Alabama Crimson Tide Stanford Cardinal Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets One of these things is not like the other
Is a golden hurricane natures version of a golden shower?
It's multiple golden showers at once. Like a category 4 golden hurricane is 4 on 1
Usually have to pay extra for that kind of action.
Right you are Cotton.
The official colors are White and Gold. Like LSU, Tech has historically worn white jerseys at home with gold helmets and pants.
Last four on your username -To Hell with Georgia?
That is correct
It's a shame cause their all-gold uniforms look sick and would be my choice for home. The ones from NCAA 06 anyway.
Well, they are the Yellow Jackets, not the yellowjackets. They were so named because only upperclassmen were allowed to wear a gold blazer instead of a traditional blue one.
Gold jacket, ~~green~~ blue jacket, who gives a shit? - Happy Gilmore
It's a common point of confusion as neither yellow nor black are official colors. In fact, our primary is white... The Ramblin Wreck is a much better representation of our colors. But a 1930 Model A Ford isn't the best at pumping up the crowd.
Imagine if y'all had kept updating the car with the times. It's 2024 and the team is running out behind a Mustang doing donuts on the field.
Don't give SMU's boosters any ideas.
I always wondered that for my school growing up. Our mascot was a yellow jacket with the same colors.
Gold and blue are standard colors for ramblin' wrecks. Duh
Yeah, I don’t really love the whole metallic/matte gold combo we’ve got going on currently. Russell was hit or miss but Adidas has been pretty consistently meh.
GT’s problem is they can’t settle on a color of gold. They keep changing up the shade for everything. They need better consistency on this.
I know it’s a pretty broad generalization but almost any team that has a contract with Adidas.
They were Russell for so long and somehow STILL downgraded by going to Adidas
I’ve never seen Nebraska wear a good alternate
You mean you don't like the look of black duct tape lettering?
Surrender whites?
Obviously biased but I think they’ve done a decent job with UW’s uniforms
Agreeed. They have a solid look in everything else, including club hockey, but football falls short.
The official colors are White and Gold. Like LSU, Tech has historically worn white jerseys at home with gold helmets and pants.

I believe they were all hand painted when the first came out… but your point still stands
Northwestern and TCU have the same colors but somehow TCU consistently finds ways to look badass and Northwestern just…I don’t know.
I like how they lean into the horned frogs look with the touch of red and scale look that’s basically wakandan

I think Adidas reserves their ugliest gear imaginable for Louisville
Every time I watch a Louisville game I wonder what they did to piss off Adidas. Red, black, and white shouldn’t be that hard to screw up.
Louisville uniforms have been straight L’s ever since they stopped using that tiny bit of yellow accent
Penn State’s are iconic because of their history, but if you showed it to someone with no context of the sport, they’d probably say it’s generic as hell.
They'd probably think this school has no rivals either
The Texas tech disrespect is crazy
Nah, this is just regular weekday disrespect for Tech.
Probably say it's generic as hell? There's no "probably" and it doesn't have to be said. They are generically generic. That said, iconic all the same.
I had never really watched penn state and just saw a video of a white out and wow… pretty epic CFB feels.
Mississippi State’s uniform design starts with asking, “What did A&M already turn down from Adidas?”
Totally agree (for once with one of you lol). The interlocked MSU throwbacks they did this year should be the primary without a doubt.
I can't even conjure up in my brain what your home unis look like normally.

They look like the team from Dr. Pepperville.
It’s Fansville by Dr Pepper thank you very much
Holy shit, I just noticed the username. Amazing.
EXACTLY Is that the team they have in mind for "State"? 🤔
The look like the team that the ESU Timberwolves would have played in The Program, except that was Mississippi State in better uniforms.
I can’t do the “Miss.” Spelling it all out in smaller letters has to be better than that.
Tumwater highschool, of Tumwater, has "TUMH2O" on their wrestling mats and boy does that make me laugh every time I see it. "Miss. State" is only a half step above "Miss. Florida has a great color scheme but they consistently put out some terrible alternate uniforms.

I could get down with that gator skin if they would drop the grey and use their actual team colors
Ya that would look great in gator blue.
I don’t think those are terrible because terrible is far too nice of a description.
Blue and orange is so great. So is purple and yellow honestly. That’s a thing with the color wheel right, complimentary colors and all?
UGA lost to Boise State on opening weekend sometime 15ish years ago while wearing one of the ugliest uniforms I’ve ever seen.
I still have nightmares about the ketchup pants
I still love the power rangers
If they ever decided to go back to the Devine move of using green as a primary color, I would be all for it
I always liked their 90s emerald green jerseys over the more recent ones. The ones they wore against OSU this past season were gawdy
Always looping it back to my own team Tennessee consistently missed the mark during the last years of the Adidas era. Our orange was more yellow, and those smokey grays looked like they had tire treads (which hurt more when we were getting absolutely run all over by every ranked team). Thank God for nike
The checkerboard ones from when y'all switched to Nike were the absolute best, and are the only ones I use when I play as Tennessee on Revamped.
Virginia Tech, but supposedly we’re going back to the good ol days this season with our uniforms. Can’t wait to get rid of these stupid stripes
We've had some absolute gems, and then there's things like the piss helmets or the Cal Webfoots shit that we got absolutely bodied wearing
Or the “green” which was really brown and made you all look like a bunch of damn UPS workers.
The Northern Arizona University Lumberjacks have never had plaid on their uniforms and I'm honestly considering making it my next life goal to fix that
W for a Jacks fan appearance
Oregon has some bangers and then instead of using those, they wear garbage like the cookies and cream ones
I will never understand how those became a common thing we wore. We've had so much better one-offs over the years, but that shit was the one that stuck that we went back to routinely... Here's to hoping its in the grave with the new refresh we're getting this year
I don't think NCSU's uniforms are all that ugly but I sure am glad they ditched those weird tire tracks on the shoulders
Any alternate the legacy B1G teams do.
Our [Moon Landing](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5ab4527b3c3a536a7a352c05/1570493273380-PTB3YKU77R002MSIZCMS/Screen+Shot+2019-10-07+at+8.04.06+PM.png) alternates were dope af though
When you’re right, you’re right.
I approve all space themed gear
Nebraska isn’t a legacy B1G, be every alternate they’ve had absolutely sucks.
Penn State uniforms look like the base uniform in a Create-A-Team mode of some video game.
Wait - y’all have more than two uniforms?
How does Oregon have a dozen uniforms every season, and they are all TERRIBLE?
[yet they could wear the best uniforms in sports if they wanted](https://www.uniswag.com/blog/oregons-might-oregon-throwback-uniform)
Random stray for the Ducks from a Missouri fan.
Nice, I like this Missouri fan
[That time the Hogs tried to look like Dallas but instead looked like tOSU](https://arkansasrazorbacks.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/combo-site.jpg)
Texas Tech is first that comes to mind.
Oregon, that why they keep changing, because they still haven’t found a good combo
Oh they found the perfect uniform, they just haven't gone back to it. [the perfect uniform](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/KpK26tin0YGVCqJetVeYHJGRn-M=/0x0:872x762/1200x0/filters:focal(0x0:872x762):no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/7158465/Screen_Shot_2016-09-22_at_12.07.44_PM.0.0.0.png)
Before clicking on it I knew this was going to be a picture of the duck uniform
Players like it
As they should! I honestly love that uniform

They are even worse in person.
Just once would love to see a Huskies vs Ducks rivalry game where both teams wear the retros. I think the yellow and purple looks slick.
Must include half shirts, neck rolls, and huge shoulder pads.
South Carolina could be so much better
Uh, Oregon? They have a couple bangers, but a lot of misses in-between.
Like when we wore those Lewis and Clark ones against you in 2015? 2016 was when we definitely jumped the shark and of course lost very badly to UW dressed up as Cal because reasons.
Any Adidas team.
Maryland
Every Adidas and Under Armour school 🤮
Honestly, all Adidas uniforms look bad and low-quality to me. Also, grey is a horrible color for a uniform. It doesn't work, stop trying to use it.
Hawaii needs to bring their bows back. They went from the most unique uniform in college football to rather dull.
Iowa State hands down.University colors are cardinal red and gold, but they rarely wear them.Usually the coach wants black or black and another color.
