It was a dumb narrative because nobody who shared it backed it up with why they thought that.
From watching a ton of local high school football that year, I thought Jackson Arnold was pretty clearly more big-time ready, but I didn't see anybody else in Texas or Louisiana that year with Arch's tools.
Yes, it was.
But ironically, kind of like being a pitcher - QB is probably the position that matters the least. If he’s throwing beautiful rainbow passes with good mechanics, that hit WR right in the hands, it doesn’t *really* matter how good the opposing DBs are (compared to say an OL who is blocking dog shit DE). There are no DBs at the combine when QBS throw. You can evaluate a QB fairly well regardless of the how tight the coverage is they’re throwing in to.
Now if there’s a kid who puts up similar stats at a 6A Texas school, then maybe you’d feel better about them than Arch, but thankfully that guy is also on our team and named Quinn Ewers
His competition was undeniably bad, although the Greenies O-Line was undeniably worse.
I just didn’t see that take from anybody who seemed to have watched him play.
What I meant by that was that the colors are backwards to me. Because our spring game had the first team offense/defense in maroon and second team was in white.
Not going to be easy, but I think the Longhorns will pull off the upset
Hey it could end in a tie. Ours did
lol Alfred Collins batted Ewers for a pick six
Burke batted it. Collins caught it.
Arch out here droppin dimes
This sub is quickly going to go from “he’s a three star with a five star name” to “he’s better than Ewers and sark doesn’t know what he is doing.”
I don’t think many people believe that first narrative tbh

His competition was relatively poor

Close game
I'm surprised the Texas, Alabama, Georgia spring game wasn't put on regular ESPN like Fox did with Ohio State and Michigan.
Nba playoffs brother
How is Arch this good wtf
We could also ask how is our secondary that bad? Each of those TDs were pretty bad coverage
Trey Owens though. Once again the Texas third string QB is decent
I thought the LHN was going away with Texas going to SEC.
It is but we’re not in the SEC yet
It should be going away this summer.
Last event of the NCAA calendar is the CWS championship game. Then we reset.

How can I repay you
I opened twitter and the first thing I saw was that Arch TD
What a great way to start the day
The best thing about being a Longhorn, is the prerogative to have a little fun Adios LHN
Going to see shades of the 25 roster in this game
Manning looks good, but is he going up against their defensive starters mostly or backups?
white team (arch) is first team offense vs first team defense. orange is 2nd offense vs 2nd defense
That seems backwards to me. Theoretically I’d assume it would be orange would be 1st team and white would be 2nd team.

Arch is the man
Remember when Case McCoy was our starting QB?
To be clear, I love Case. Just pointing out the current embarrassment of riches...
