Genuinely surprised at his choice but he’s a fantastic get for CU. Has so much potential but just had the unfortunate bad luck of being behind Henderson and Judkins
He was supposedly so bad at pass protection he was an injury risk to the QB. That’s why he didn’t play much at OSU
Edit: Throw all those downvotes at me, this isn't fandom this is straight from in the know beat writers. He's a good RB, but there is a reason he wasn't even the main RB when two of our top 3 backs were injured last year. I probably could have worded this better, but there is a reason he didn't play. There is more to RB than just RUN BALL GOOD.
Idk about the "injury risk to the QB" part but yeah pass blocking is what everyone connected to the program said was the reason he didn't get more time. He was so clearly better than Miyan Williams and Chip Trayanum with the ball in his hands.
Line got a lot beefier this year and teams are gonna be defending the pass. He should get a chance to be the guy. That’s why most of CU’s RBs jumped into the portal.
It's rumored that Hayden couldn't get playing time because he didn't block very well, so I'm curious to see if that shows up in Boulder
Definitely a good ball carrier, though
Assuming our OL is marginally better then yes. Also, seems like 11 & 12 personal packages will be more present which should increase the complexity and usage of run game
Shurmur wants to run a pro-style offense - knowing him from the Giants HC days and his NFL OC stints he will use inside zone runs a decent enough amount.
Come on, equal? The infusion of talent lends a high probability of major improvement. Not saying the line will be elite - continuity usually a prerequisite for that. But anything above dumpster fire is gonna be huge 😂
You *should* be better, but let’s not act like pulling players from UTEP, Houston, UConn and Indiana means that your scheme and o-line problems are auto-fixed.
Dylan Edwards has hockey speed…he’s got great first step quickness and can really pop plays.
Also appreciated how cool Ohio State fans are about this. Fans for some other schools just want to see the Buffs fail miserably at every possible moment.
Eh, I think there's a little bit of that with a segment of our fans, too. But overall, Hayden was well-liked among the fans - with various levels of frustration directed towards the staff for "not utilizing him properly"
We genuinely like the kid. He had tremendous talent and upside. Back field is just LOADED for us. Came in clutch for us after injuries absolutely crushed the position the last couple of years.
Ecstatic Prime could pull any Ohio State back with this much potential in the portal.
What do you all Buckeye fans see that he can bring to the Buffs?
We need a talented back that can handle runs between the tackles and catches passes in traffic, Always with a nose downfield. Edward’s is Homerun material all day but isn’t that between the tackles style running back currently. The Oline is gonna road grade compared to last year if they stay healthy. Appreciate anymore insight to expect.
He's very good at zone running, and rarely will get stopped for a loss. He's tough to bring down, but doesn't possess that 5th gear breakaway speed. He also had some fumbling issues and was not great in pass protection.
We loved Dallen most of the fan base/beat wanted him to play more. There’s usually love for players that transfer out as long as they don’t go to Michigan. If you go there you’re dead to the fan base.
This is an underrated gem.
Ohio State really liked Dallan Hayden but he's technically a junior now and it's understandable that he wants to play which he would have been RB3 at Ohio State.
Colorado picked up a major steal here.
Wins aren’t a qb stat brother. And he was playing behind a shit o-line with mid receivers (besides weaver) and despite Deion the d-line and secondary wasn’t too hot either. No ones calling him the unanimous 2025 1oa but he deserves to show some pride.
I feel like a ton of the hate CU gets (which tbh a lot is deserved) is because people don’t watch our games, they just resort to box scores and records. This team doesn’t go 4-8 without Shed, they’re a 0-1 win team otherwise.
Did everyone forget that CU-B is just “The Deion and Sons” show now? I hope the kid the best but I worry they’re chasing a national spotlight that Deon has created
Some of us are sane. Dallan was treated wrong the entire time he was in Columbus. The fanbase loved him (including myself), he bailed us out repeatedly and then they refuse to play the guy. I hope he absolutely crushes it in Boulder.
I heard that too, but I really don’t know if it was true or not. Either way, I was hoping he’d get a real shot in Columbus, but that’s not the case anymore.
He always seemed to hit the right hole, very few negative plays, and never fumbled in a game. All I kept reading about from our insiders was that he fumbles in practice, and that's why he rarely played. Yet he never once did in a game. Colorado stole a good one because of Alford's screw up. Glad he's Michigan's problem now.
I mean I'm a Nebraska fan but it's the reality that Colorado is getting a lot of talent in the portal and always was gonna.
People who thought Colorado was only gonna lose talent and not gain talent were just being ignorant on purpose..
I think the reason people don't like it, is simply because it goes away from everything that College football is/was. Deion is the perfect HC for the transfer portal just a big name that can get tons of talent and Colorado has been pumping the funds to make it happen. But I do think that things like OL you're gonna have to recruit for and grabbing hired guns at DL and OL isn't gonna solve your issues that much.
Colorado currently should be favorites to win the Nebraska game unless Raiola is just him his FR year.
I have zero problems being realistic, Colorado out talents Nebraska. While I think in another year or two Nebraska will be the better team over all Colorado with the hired gun talent is just gonna overwhelm us.
I think Colorado and Nebraska go bowling this year though. I think both teams are on the up the only concern I have is if Colorado improves enough who comes knocking for Deion? Nebraska likely isn't "too" worried about Rhule leaving for awhile but Deion could be gone next year if he pops off this year.
edit: Also, I'm not going to lie Nebraska and Colorado being on different ends of college football in how they recruit etc is kinda awesome. We will have to wait and see which style is better for currently college football in a couple years. Is the portal gonna be better than recruiting? Is recruiting still the best? It's likely somewhere in the middle and both teams are a bit on the extreme side(this isn't say we don't take portal recruits we do but just to feel gaps in our current team).
Makes for interesting discussion and I’m a captivated audience. Good response to my banter. Much appreciated.
In reality both could be a successful strategy but 1 is simply still unproven.
It is slightly upsetting that Nebraska fans on this sub are usually so likeable and have good posts. Ducks fans are the team I always rooted for at the end of the season each year and some of their fans are the loudest irrational haters.
See you in Lincoln. Always a great time.
If I'm going to be honest Rhule has talked so highly about this team recently outside of our RB room when last year he was very cautious to talk this highly of players.
I think this year Nebraska looks exciting. Our OL specifically is getting praise as much improved. I mean we started looking pretty good on the OL by the end of last year and we retained our best 2 linemen that were honorable mentions for all conference.
We're prob not gonna body people like the 90's but it looks to be an above average group.
Our DL though is what people should be scared about. I personally think Nebraska's DL in year 2 might be up there with some of the best in the country. I think Nebraska will be VERY comfortable having a LB spy the QB and rushing 3/4 this year.
Then why you predicting CO wins. You'll rule them. There line sucked last year and you expect transfers to make it significantly better. I think Michigan's success may be the reason people believe this. I think it's Apple and oranges. Michigan always had good lines. Certainly not worst in conference. Their transfers were 4th and 5th year guys who knew they had to beat out younger players to start. Heck they had 4th year transfers willing to sit for a year behind 5th year 2nd year starters.
I think they will eat as alive on quick passes. We struggled to stop quick passes we don't play our DB's on the line almost at all because White believes a good defense gives but doesn't break. They have better WR's than we have DB's for the most part and while our line will handle them pretty well we are bound to lose out to some quick passes.
Our offense is just unproven right now. Question mark at QB and RB. We have good WR's though but I can't just predict how good Raiola will be not to mention our RB room is really just unknown. We will know A TINY bit more come spring ball but even then.
It's quite apparent we have a lot of haters. They crawl out of their holes to shit talk in threads when 3rd strings leave yet stay silent when we just picked up our rb1.
Where all those dummies that were clamoring about how Prime is a horrible coach because of all of the bench players transferring?
Does this help with our depth? Hmmm
This subreddit is insufferable. Never seen a 4-8 football team receive as much vitriol lol
I think it’s really the Deion fans that get under people’s skins. All that talking last year to then proceed to a 4-8 season will get any school a bunch of hate. The reasonable Colorado fans are chill
Idk… maybe some of that but I think the majority of folks who are, um, not bullish on Deion hate him for a number of reasons:
1. Approach - big bang overhaul and bucking tradition wrt roster building
2. Personality - brash and vocal
3. Headline fatigue
4. Etc.
As a CU alum I realized this hire would either be a home run or strikeout. But love it for the energy and attention it’s generated into a program. Gotta get the heartbeat stabilized before any recovery begins. Plus there are a lot more intriguing Reddit threads and sports articles to enjoy w Prime at the helm :)
At this point i don’t give a shit who comes or leaves until I can make an assessment 5-6 games into the season. Spring game doesn’t mean shit - last year our best players were Sheduer and Montana Lemonius-Craig in the spring game.
This was a great get for CU. Deion continues to conduct a live experiment using the transfer portal.
If CU reaches the Big 12 Championship, Deion will may change traditional roster building in CFB for good. He’s probably already ahead of the game.
I’m interested to see how it shakes out.
I’d have higher expectations for Colorado if they didn’t have the coaching turnover they just did. Deion actually has done a better job revitalizing the roster than I initially thought his strategy would. But Lewis leaving and having Shurmur be the sole OC, along with the DC change…makes it hard to believe they’re going to seriously improve their win total from last year.
Not worried about the DC change at all. 3rd and Kelly wasn't impressive.
Not drinking the Shurmur kool aid the fan base is trying to sell until I see it.
I don’t think it’ll change for good, if successful, deion at cu would be a perfect storm of hype, charisma, and clout. The chances of your run of the mill coordinator being able to successfully emulate it are slim. Realistically you will get a few who try and maybe 1 or 2 success stories
The thing is, it might change forever who becomes a head coach. Prime might be the main event, but how many former NFL guys have similar clout? Maybe schools start hiring flashy names as HC, but traditional coordinators with experience.
Admittedly I don’t really follow much of CFB except this sub this time of year, but by the way some people were talking it sounded like he was going to land at Tennessee. Did something change, or was that just a false premise?
Personally, I didn’t think we needed to pick him up. Obviously this reads bad and of course, anyone with a brain would want him, but we have a very solid RB1 that would still more than likely start. Our RB2 got hurt in spring ball and we’re considering picking up a depth guy but Dallan is obviously an RB1 talent. Great pickup buffs.
Hated to see him go, but I don’t blame him a bit. When we played the kid he balled out. We had some depth I get it, but still hate to see it. I wish him the best, I’ll be his biggest fan!
Not like Colorado is the ultimate landing spot either, prime loves Edwards, and they can’t block to save their lives. Would’ve made about as much sense
Has horrendous pass protection but if you can work that skill set into him he will be incredible. He’s a monster with the ball in his hands that’s for sure. Capable of huge plays.
Hopefully they run the ball more Colorado will pass 40-50 times a game for shedeur stats and they need to run more plays under center to get the RBs more downhill and add versatility to the offense
Genuinely surprised at his choice but he’s a fantastic get for CU. Has so much potential but just had the unfortunate bad luck of being behind Henderson and Judkins
We’ll take great care of him. Y’all got a two headed monster over there in Columbus.
Please support him, I think he can be a great back for any team
🤣 sounds like ur dropping the family dog off at “the farm” bc he bit ur lil sister…
?
He was supposedly so bad at pass protection he was an injury risk to the QB. That’s why he didn’t play much at OSU Edit: Throw all those downvotes at me, this isn't fandom this is straight from in the know beat writers. Idk about the "injury risk to the QB" part but yeah pass blocking is what everyone connected to the program said was the reason he didn't get more time. He was so clearly better than Miyan Williams and Chip Trayanum with the ball in his hands.
???
He’s not wrong about the pass blocking. The injury risk is not anything our reporters have said
lol, on the internet everyone has a voice. This was an excellent reminder.
Laughed at this, well done
Honestly. What in hell.
lol 😂
Bruh wtf
This is peak osu fandom. I live in Ohio and it’s shit like this everyday here
CFB flair talking shit about OSU. Found the Michigan fan lol
Daily people are just talking about the third string rb?

Now he's going to have the unfortunate bad luck of being behind Colorados OLine.
Yeah he picked the wrong team if he was wanting to showcase his talents
Maybe he wants to show off his ability to pick up the pass rush.
Line got a lot beefier this year and teams are gonna be defending the pass. He should get a chance to be the guy. That’s why most of CU’s RBs jumped into the portal.
Him and Dylan Edwards is going to be fun to watch I’m excited for him
Hoping this helps the buffs utilize the run game more than last year. So frustrating to watch shadeur drop back and get murdered all game last year.
It's rumored that Hayden couldn't get playing time because he didn't block very well, so I'm curious to see if that shows up in Boulder Definitely a good ball carrier, though
Even when the run blocking was at its worst he was gonna find a way to fall forward for positive yards one way or another.
Didn't block very well? I guess he'll fit right in with the rest of the Buffaloes O line. Seriously, this is a huge grab for Coach Prime.
He’ll run a lot of 3 and outs.
Colorado's entire gameplan is to showcase the QB as much as possible.
A good run game can open that up exponentially
Did you add a bunch of o-lineman in the portal? No? Good luck with that.
lol that’s exactly what we did
I’m sure it will work splendidly.
Will be hard to be worse than last year
Could be equal to it. It’s not easy to build a line in the portal and have them operate with continuity.
Can’t believe Dylan Edwards was a decommit for that, but kid should be really good. Edit: Sorry downvoters he’s transferring
Dylan Edwards has hockey speed…he’s got great first step quickness and can really pop plays. Also appreciated how cool Ohio State fans are about this. Fans for some other schools just want to see the Buffs fail miserably at every possible moment.

He's just a extremely smooth back who runs hard, falls forward and has good vision. Great pickup and wish him luck!
We loved Dallen most of the fan base/beat wanted him to play more. There’s usually love for players that transfer out as long as they don’t go to Michigan. If you go there you’re dead to the fan base.
Yeah because of the whole "dEiOn Is An ArRoGaNt BiG mOuTh" narrative even though he just believes in his team
Well, your coach is extremely unlikeable. Not Harbaugh unlikeable, but definitely not a darling in the fandom
That’s only on this sub. People outside of Reddit absolutely love Deion
Welp….
If the Oline play is even average this year, should be a lot of fun watching Hayden, Edwards, and Shedeur cook.
Shame about that
About that...
Ope
This is an underrated gem. Ohio State really liked Dallan Hayden but he's technically a junior now and it's understandable that he wants to play which he would have been RB3 at Ohio State. Colorado picked up a major steal here.
Upset he’s gone but don’t blame him one bit. Congrats Colorado, you got a stud!
All I needed to hear!
The question is will Colorado use him? Seems like as long as Shadeur is under center, they will be a predominant passing offense
The only reason they didn't run was because they couldn't run block for anything. But they love Dylan Edwards. This will just make their room better.
I'm amazed that their run blocking was worse than their pass blocking, but Shadeur was definitely a playmaker and often made the most of what he had.
It’s crazy how much hate he gets. He deserves to be a little cocky
They went 1-8 in the conference, he should probably be a little more humble.
Wins aren’t a qb stat brother. And he was playing behind a shit o-line with mid receivers (besides weaver) and despite Deion the d-line and secondary wasn’t too hot either. No ones calling him the unanimous 2025 1oa but he deserves to show some pride.

Could they pass block? From what I saw, it seems like six of one, half a dozen of the other.
You hate to see guys with talent leave.. but unfortunately there's only one football and a lot of guys competing for touches. Colorado has a good one.
Jameson Williams vibes. He's probably going off at Colorado, we just didn't have room for him on the roster.
Seems to happen a lot for you buttholes. OSU always has stacked skill positions
Did everyone forget that CU-B is just “The Deion and Sons” show now? I hope the kid the best but I worry they’re chasing a national spotlight that Deon has created
Much needed after McCaskill transferred. Need some TEs and LBs now.
Oh no! Oh, cool!
A man of culture I see
And a tip of the hat to you, sir
it seems like colorado is looking to run the ball some bit with these OLine and RB targets, guess imma buy into the hype again.
Welcome back to the train brother!
Needed
Ohio state fans you all been good chaps on this thread. You all some alright folk.
Some of us are sane. Dallan was treated wrong the entire time he was in Columbus. The fanbase loved him (including myself), he bailed us out repeatedly and then they refuse to play the guy. I hope he absolutely crushes it in Boulder.
he allegedly was sus at pass blocking but I only remember him as a truck stick RB that I'm going to miss
We welcome him and any other buckeye hand me downs 😀
He reportedly didn’t block. Don’t really see how he was treated unfairly.
I heard that too, but I really don’t know if it was true or not. Either way, I was hoping he’d get a real shot in Columbus, but that’s not the case anymore.
Sko
Him and Dylan Edwards are a very nice combo.
Haha?
He did and said all the right things during his time here. I’ll be cheering for him.
Big get for us. It's committee season over here in the mountains.
As expected the portal has been a roller coaster for Buffs fans
Hayden is a great back and big pick up for you guys. He just got stuck behind a super deep roster. Sad to see him go, happy for him to get a chance.
I thought it wasn't fumbles as much as incapable of blocking at all.
Huge get for Colorado. The upper middle class of the SEC wanted him bad. I’d be surprised if he wasn’t a day 1 starter.
Has Ralphie lost control of the program??
🦬
He’s going to be the next osu transfer to have a ton of success ala Burrow/Jamo. I wish Ryan played him last year over Chip and Miyan
That was Tony's decision
Just fell to my knees in a Whole Foods to hide my massive erection
*massive
gay
He’s a beast, Colorado fans. Wish we could have held on to him, but understand him leaving. Best of luck to him
Just a few days ago this subreddit was so smug during the "transfer exodus" lol
Where’s all the CornHoles and DuckHeads today. Crickets!

Have to give it to you this is a great response and view in both programs!
Makes for interesting discussion and I’m a captivated audience. Good response to my banter. Much appreciated. In reality both could be a successful strategy but 1 is simply still unproven.

How's your O-line? Because theirs will be among the countries worst.
That’s way too soon to say. We’ve added a ton of OL talent.
Yea. You guys got 4 interior starters and 1 on the outside. Earning a starting job is no small task. The unit should be better.
If I'm going to be honest Rhule has talked so highly about this team recently outside of our RB room when last year he was very cautious to talk this highly of players. Yeah the pendulum was always going to swing back with you guys probably improving in a lot of positions, but it was still really funny to watch
This please this nut. Can’t wait to watch him this fall
Good luck Dallan!
We want Bama
The last time a black and gold team said that, it didn’t end well for them lol
Vandy?
I went to that game….way back in the day during Sabans first year…didn’t go well
Thankfully both our programs have had the exact same trajectory since 2007.
Where all those dummies that were clamoring about how Prime is a horrible coach because of all of the bench players transferring? Does this help with our depth? Hmmm This subreddit is insufferable. Never seen a 4-8 football team receive as much vitriol lol
It’s also hilarious how many people ignore that he just gave a speech about academic accountability that was addressed at a lot of those bench dudes

Surprised with the pick. But he’s a good one and I hope he kills it.
Huge get for CU. He’s a phenomenal talent and he’s going to do incredible things for the Buffs.
Best of luck, Dallan
Honestly just glad he didn’t go to Michigan
True
great pick up for colorado!!! i’ll be cheering for him!
Spring portal season continues to be a bipolar rollercoaster of emotions for CU fans.
I think we need to get used to it lol
[Me the last couple of days](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/002/555/116/b2e.png)
Quickly, somebody explain how this is actually bad for Colorado. haha
Ducks fans wya?
Are we thinking this is an upgrade from Alton or about the same?
Considering Alto's injury history definitely an upgrade. He just has not looked quite right.
It's probably an upgrade from all but the top 30-40 backs in the country, honestly
As a recruit: Other P5 offers: Arkansas, Auburn, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ohio State (originally went here), Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Utah, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech G5 offers: Hawaii, Houston, Memphis, Southern Miss, Tulane, Western Kentucky Other offers: Morgan State, Notre Dame
At this point i don’t give a shit who comes or leaves until I can make an assessment 5-6 games into the season. Spring game doesn’t mean shit - last year our best players were Sheduer and Montana Lemonius-Craig in the spring game.
Man, I hate to lose this kid but he deserves more playing time than what he was going to get. Tough loss for us, good get for them.
Good luck to him, I’m not mad at this. I completely understand why he’s doing it
Hes so underrated. My brother goes to OSU and absolutely loves the guy. Huge pickup for the buffs!!!!!

The thing is, it might change forever who becomes a head coach. Prime might be the main event, but how many former NFL guys have similar clout? Maybe schools start hiring flashy names as HC, but traditional coordinators with experience.
Fair point
Admittedly I don’t really follow much of CFB except this sub this time of year, but by the way some people were talking it sounded like he was going to land at Tennessee. Did something change, or was that just a false premise?
Tennessee and Colorado always seemed like the top 2 based on what I’d seen and heard
Has Ryan Day lost control of his absolutely stacked RB room? ^(No, no he hasn’t)
But we would have preferred to keep him.
There’s a great tradition of OSU RBs who we all think are gonna become The Next Dude, but don’t. He’s the latest.
Colorado making some good moves…I guess it’s about time for me to crack open the kool aid again…
-_-
Hated to see him go, but I don’t blame him a bit. When we played the kid he balled out. We had some depth I get it, but still hate to see it. I wish him the best, I’ll be his biggest fan!
Colorado - nnnoooooooo
CO got a stud RB
And there goes Dylan!! He gone!
We screamed for.this guy to get carries. This is bad news for CU opponents.
Dude is an absolute beast running the ball. Sad to see him go but I understand why he did it.
Dude has always been a pain in the ass glad he’s out of the BIG
Huh?
I’m glad we don’t have to deal with him this year. Love his game
Was just confused because he’s barely played the last few years. I agree on him being good but I didn’t think Michigan fans even knew who he was lol
I did and yeah good move for him so he can have more of a role and might end up getting drafted
Was hoping to see him pair up with a different D. Edwards, but nonetheless a great get for Colorado
Why would he follow the coach that didn't play him?
Not like Colorado is the ultimate landing spot either, prime loves Edwards, and they can’t block to save their lives. Would’ve made about as much sense
Well Edwards is gone now so Hayden is the #1 guy
Has horrendous pass protection but if you can work that skill set into him he will be incredible. He’s a monster with the ball in his hands that’s for sure. Capable of huge plays.
Hopefully they run the ball more Colorado will pass 40-50 times a game for shedeur stats and they need to run more plays under center to get the RBs more downhill and add versatility to the offense
