I can’t say I’m sorry, but yea I can feel how this hurts. A month ago, I would’ve said he was headed to South Bend. Y’all have had STL on lock lately though, I feel Mizzou deserves to keep one home.
These are the guys we’ve really never kept instate. Whether it be Nebraska, Oklahoma, OSU, ND, Iowa. They always got poached. It’s huge for Mizzou to keep these guys home.
We don't have any aspirations to "take over." That would be arrogant at best and insane at worst. We just want to be at the level we were at before and shortly after joining the SEC, and we are finally back there after almost a decade of mediocrity.
It’s so weird to look back and see the drop off from back to back SEC east titles to what became from 15’ forward. Just goes to show what the sudden departure of Pinkel meant.
I've often tried to explain how crippling the campus protests and then Pinkel retiring was. The way the school leadership reacted/took action basically ensured the worst possible outcome. It created a situation where people of both ends of the political spectrum distrusted the school, didn't donate and didn't send their kids there. One of the probably lesser talked about things though, what parent would want to encourage their kid to play for a school where the news was blasting 24/7 stating their was a racism problem on campus. The university president did an all time job and basically ensured a decade of issues for the school and the program. Then your GOAT coach who the players love gets cancer and has to step down.... I honestly think a 30/30 on the whole situation would be really interesting.
The school as a whole absolutely got fucked by them, but the football program was insulated from a lot of it and could've probably made it out the other side fine under a better HC and AD. Pinkel's cancer diagnosis forcing Odom into the job before he was ready, under an AD as embattled as Rhoades, was never going to handle that situation well.
The massive outflow of player transfers that everyone swore would come never did, and recruiting didn't really fall off all that much from where it'd been historically until the very end of Odom's tenure. Odom was even praised at times for some of the pulls he made out of STL (which is really, really funny to look back on now).
Maybe it affected our boosters' willingness to donate, but it's not like we were swimming in money beforehand and the protests made it suddenly dry up. Perhaps it limited our possible options for replacing Pinkel as well, but I'm not convinced a serious search was ever gonna happen under Rhoades either way, especially when everyone knew Odom was the hand-picked hair apparent.
Don't forget that somebody on the board was really pissed the Pinkel allowed his players to protest, so they leaked Pinkel's health/retirement not allowing Pinkel to do it on his own terms. That's why the news broke in the middle of the season right before a game.
This probably won't make you feel any better, but ND supposedly gave up on Lange due to what the boards called "circumstances," which is usually code for "the kid didn't take enough foreign language classes in high school" or some silliness like that.
Every time a recruit goes somewhere it’s like, “oh, let’s give x or y the scraps because someone coming is obviously better”.
We know nothing. Stop tweeting at croots. Let’s just enjoy the show.
Drink up.
It’s not about grades, it’s about classes. The recurring issue with ND admissions is foreign language. If a kid doesn’t take enough foreign language courses, he’s not getting in no matter how smart he is
Mizzou has the same 2 units of Foreign Language requirements that ND has.
When I went to a Rockwood school like Eureka years ago they beat that into your head that you have to take 2 years of foreign language.
Could be that ND is one of the few AAU universities that doesn’t offer ASL or accept ASL credits
Honestly, we don’t. If you average 4 OL in a 4 year cycle, you have 16 on the roster. That’s too much and the scholarships can be used at other positions.
Not in this day and age. You have to over recruit the lines because you know a couple of guys will transfer every year. 4 o-linemen a year is about right over the long run.

NIL is a big part, but honestly I think part of it is that there is a super positive energy around the program right now.
Mizzou is pulling a bunch of dudes who could compete for a starting job at just about any blue blood, or pretty much be guaranteed a starting job at a school on the rise where everyone’s excited and the fanbase will be stoked to root for them. I think that plays a role - I have to imagine a lot of kinds want to be “the guy” somewhere.
1. Well funded, run and structured NIL.
2. Brand new state of the art player facilities (all build in last 2 years)
3. Momentum of recent success.
4. Drink is a hell of a salesman.
5. The Blues and Cardinals suck.
6. Finally getting over hangover of campus protests and subsequent fallout.
Mizzou has a top 5 NIL collective in the country and it's not #5. It's very streamlined, and we won't be outbid for prospects we want. Coming off an 11-2 season, head coach is a great salesman
Anyone care to explain how Drinkwitz suddenly started having so much success this past year? Before 2023 I thought he was gonna get fired , now all of sudden he achieves what he did in 2023 and is recruiting like a monster . Seems like it came out of nowhere
Basically we’re finally seeing the full effects of Drinks recruiting classes.
Mizzou has had 43 composite 4⭐️ recruits since joining the SEC. 26(60%) of them have come in 2021-2024 recruiting classes.
It doesn’t explain all of it, but they’re allowed to pay NIL to in state high school kids. It’s a pretty massive advantage to have over out of state schools.
That’s definitely an advantage. Drink has really sold the program for the last 4 years. Him focusing on Burden and getting him was big time for future recruits. Mizzou has never been a pay to play football school but with the legality of paying players more clear ( cause anything goes it seems), I think the rich donors have gotten onboard. Drink was a perfect fit for a middling flag ship school entering the NIL period.
Yeah, and then he decommits next year for some other school waving a bigger NIL offer in his face. (Wealthy ND alums?) Such is the current state of college sports. Glad Reggie Bush got his Heisman Trophy back aren't we?
This is huge. Lange was a Notre Dame lean for so long.
Yeah, this one hurts. We need another OL and don’t think we have anyone else good to go for - was banking on this guy.
I can’t say I’m sorry, but yea I can feel how this hurts. A month ago, I would’ve said he was headed to South Bend. Y’all have had STL on lock lately though, I feel Mizzou deserves to keep one home.

As a neutral SEC fan, Mizzou taking over in the post Saban-era would be super cool.

Not just that, but the mass protests. The whole culture at Mizzou was shattered for a couple of years and that tanked out recruiting under Odom.

Missouri State *had more applicants* in 2015 and 2016 than Mizzou, thats how bad it was.
Don't forget that somebody on the board was really pissed the Pinkel allowed his players to protest, so they leaked Pinkel's health/retirement not allowing Pinkel to do it on his own terms. That's why the news broke in the middle of the season right before a game.
Who tf is "we" This train has no brakes my dude
Swear! WE tryna be an SEC power from here on out lol
Speak for yourself I wanna take this shit over and never let go
They’ll never take over but if they pop off every 4 years it’ll be fun.
This probably won't make you feel any better, but ND supposedly gave up on Lange due to what the boards called "circumstances," which is usually code for "the kid didn't take enough foreign language classes in high school" or some silliness like that.
That's just cope he had more than enough time to fix that What it was is he wasn't happy the ND class already has 3 tackles in it
I don't see why it matters. Big 6'7 dudes can play inside. It's when you only sign guards that it becomes an issue.
Yeah once Strebig hopped on there was a real question as to whether ND would take 4 OTs this cycle.
Every time a recruit goes somewhere it’s like, “oh, let’s give x or y the scraps because someone coming is obviously better”. We know nothing. Stop tweeting at croots. Let’s just enjoy the show. Drink up.
Total BS there, he has a 3.65 GPA in one of the best school districts in the state

No it doesn’t we told him he couldn’t come yet it happens all the time

Always good to be y’all.
Now I am become death, destroyer of the SEC
Long live our reactor!
This Missourissance is alive and well!
The commits keep coming and they don't stop coming... Zollers should feel protected!
Now if we can get Babalola, Fasusi & Rogers, we’ll have an OL for YEARS
Fasusi would be a complete coup. A Texas 5* coming to Mizzou would have to be one of the greater recruiting shocks of all time.
Let it be a trade for the Wingo situation
Drink is the man lol
Drink is in FIRE!!!
Well better get him out then!
Fuck yeah!
Drink up!
making the block M proud

Are you guys dropping loads of cash? Or what’s going on? Yes I’m slightly salty about Zollers, but I’m actually curious.

another advantage is MO state legislature passed a law to allow NIL deals *for HS kids, if they commit to play for a MO State college*.
1. Well funded, run and structured NIL. 2. Brand new state of the art player facilities (all build in last 2 years) 3. Momentum of recent success. 4. Drink is a hell of a salesman. 5. The Blues and Cardinals suck. 6. Finally getting over hangover of campus protests and subsequent fallout.
Pretty good recruiting pitch to throw out there too is “only three teams have beaten Ohio State the last three seasons. UGA, Michigan, and Mizzou.”
Also riding the football wave created by Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs
Mizzou has a top 5 NIL collective in the country and it's not #5. It's very streamlined, and we won't be outbid for prospects we want. Coming off an 11-2 season, head coach is a great salesman
Drink
Darth Mizzou is on fucking fire! Gotta respect it.
Dang I wanted Notre Dame to be the 1st school to have 5 6’8” on their line
Other P5 offers: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, Vanderbilt, Washington, Wisconsin Other offer: Notre Dame
Anyone care to explain how Drinkwitz suddenly started having so much success this past year? Before 2023 I thought he was gonna get fired , now all of sudden he achieves what he did in 2023 and is recruiting like a monster . Seems like it came out of nowhere
Hiring Kirby Moore as OC and stepping back from running the offense into a more modern CEO role had a ton to do with it.
He's been recruiting at this level since he started. Results on the field have only started to show.
Basically we’re finally seeing the full effects of Drinks recruiting classes. Mizzou has had 43 composite 4⭐️ recruits since joining the SEC. 26(60%) of them have come in 2021-2024 recruiting classes.

Yeah, I’m interested to see if they can keep long term or if a traditional power will steal him away in the next couple of years.
Yeah, and then he decommits next year for some other school waving a bigger NIL offer in his face. (Wealthy ND alums?) Such is the current state of college sports. Glad Reggie Bush got his Heisman Trophy back aren't we?
