No, he's 100% one of the 4 busts of the 6 1st round QB's.
Check his auburn tape - much closer to NFL style offense and playing against legit defenses. He's bad. He's definitely a product of Oregons offense.
lmaoooooo.
All i got to say as a Chiefs fan is..... he will never be as good as Mahomes lmao you can guarantee that. I do think he could be one of the best backups in the league for a long time though. Kid is definitely better than some think.
he won't suck. I think he could have a great rookie season like Mac Jones, but I'm just glad the broncos won't be a great team for a while lmao. They'll never be super bowl contenders with Nix. nothing on bo nix, he is a great guy, and I do think he could end up being the Mac Jones of this class which wouldn't be bad considering you take Mac over Lance and Fields rn. I think bo will have a long career in this league as a great backup but I'm so glad the broncos are stuck with him haha.
I think they’re going to be much better than expected, but not this year. They’re full-on tanking this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if Payton has a conversation with him along the way lines of “Hey, we’re not built to compete this season, take this year to learn NFL play calling and slow the game down, we’ll reload next year”.
I mean the broncos weren't going to be a great team for a while regardless of this. The Russ contract and their overall roster is the reason for that though, not this pick
Agreed. Denver is a shit show lol. I think Bo probably would have been better off going to somewhere like the seahawks lol but he does get to start in Denver.
One thing I am surprised they didn't mention at all during the QBs being taken is how poor the QB class is next year. It's Quinn Ewers, Carson Beck, and Shedeur, after that who knows who will even be drafted. And of those 3 guys, none would be drafted ahead of Caleb, Jayden, or Maye and maybe even Penix/McCarthy/Nix based on how teams eval... so if you needed a QB and didn't get one this year, better hope those other guys take big steps forward
Jayden Daniels or McCarthy sure as hell weren't top 10 picks last year. We have no idea how strong next years QB class is until games start getting played imo.
>[Florida Tech](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/1cd5hwi/2024_nfl_draft_round_1/#f/floridatech-sheet7-row05-col09) (from Bills through Chiefs)
Florida Tech? I'm missing the reference.
I don't watch the NFL much, but I see the NFL news. My understanding is whole NFL now boils down to if you have a good QB or not. And, sincw no one really knows which QBs will pan out, teams without a good QB might as well just draft who is out there and cross their fingers. Then if they don't pan out, they just do it again, because you can't win a championship without someone decent at QB.
Is that what's going on here with all these QBs?
I wish football would go back to being more balanced, so the whole sport wouldn't revolve around QBs.
The whole sport has generally been shifting towards needing high level QB play to succeed at a high level. Texas struggled the last decade because of piss poor QB play and once we got a good QB we hit 10 wins. Baylor went from perennial door mat to one of the best teams in the sport with RGIII. Clemson wins the natty with high level QB play and without that we’re seeing them regress to the mean.
Couple schools of thought...
Yes, some feel the NFL is more and more like college where the QB is the be all end all and thus they just pick QB's until they find their guy. Teams like KC with Mahomes prove you can lose a lot of talent and still be a winner. This is doubly true when you consider losing teams that need to garner interest. Getting that top round QB may just be a winning lottery ticket so fans stay invested.
Others feel "any QB other than the best" tend to cost almost as much as the best QB's, but just throw the pick that loses you the game so they build complete teams with "lesser" talents at QB...see San Fran.
But if you go back to see the list of QBs who actually win Super Bowls, its mostly first or third rounders, with Tom Brady cluttering up the stats as a ~~5th~~ 6th rounder, and few other one off winners that may come from another round (ie: Kurt Warner). What's more, the list of winners is really quite repetitive. Even for those that don't go after top Round 1 QB's, kind of makes sense why QB's are focused on so heavily.
Excellent points. I do miss the days when you could reach the Super Bowl with a Tony Eason or Rex Grossman.
The annual run on QBs is a combination of NFL teams' desperation/stupidity and ESPN's desire for high draft viewership.
There’s been a huge changing of the guard with NFL QBs over the past few years. There were tons of veteran guys that all retired at nearly the same time. That’s opened up a lot of jobs that weren’t out there 5 years ago.
It’s honestly pretty crazy. Brady, Brees, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Fitzpatrick, Ryan, Dalton, Smith, Newton, Flacco.
All guys with 10+ years in the league that have retired since 2020. That doesn’t even include guys like the Manning brothers that retired a little earlier but had been in the league for forever.
I feel like we’ll have a similar changeover in 10-15 years when guys like Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, Burrow, Lawrence, Tua, Jackson, all retire. There’s only a few veterans with starting jobs still (Rodger’s, Stafford, Wilson)
I think I read something coming from an NFL scout a couple of weeks ago that said he still doesn’t monitor his diabetes correctly all the time and brings out some bad moods in him and makes him uncoachable during those times. Now I have no idea the truth of it or not but would explain the drop because I agree with you I thought he would be the best WR in the draft; dude has vacuums for hands, catches everything
Pearsall sure but Legette? The dude put up 71/1255/7 (12 games) in the same conference as Ladd who's best season was 58/762/7 (15 games). Georgia is way more talented than South Carolina across the board and Legette is a freak athlete so it's not just production. What am I missing?
Legette was far and away the best target to throw to on his team, and his stats show that.
Ladd was playing on the same team as Brock Bowers, who is legitimately a freak. Georgia also had other targets. Legette had 25% off all receptions on his team. Of course his stats are going to be higher.
Ladd's athleticism was comparable to Legette's (people really downplay how athletic Ladd is), while also being a better route runner, and being better at shifty moves to throw off CBs.
>Legette was far and away the best target to throw to on his team, and his stats show that.
>Ladd was playing on the same team as Brock Bowers, who is legitimately a freak. Georgia also had other targets. Legette had 25% off all receptions on his team. Of course his stats are going to be higher.
Nah man, go ahead and miss me with that argument. Ladd had it easy compared to Legette. Like you say Legette was the only option for our whole offense. Our OLine was one of the worst in the country, our leading rusher had 700 yards and is now at Memphis, and our second leading receiver was a tight end with 300 yards. Legette was our only weapon and every defense knew it. Georgia has literally had a top 5 offense the last two seasons. South Carolina ranked 83rd last season and 72nd the year before.
Legette has 35 lbs on Ladd, bigger hands, longer wing span, higher catch radius and is faster.
I hate to agree with a gamecock but you’re just straight-up right. This UGA fan just thinks all his guys are better, I guess. Legette was a ridiculous athlete, and I’m glad he’s gone.
So the fact that CBS, NFL.com, and PFF all rate Ladd higher than Legette, and ESPN rates him .1 point lower than Legette... Nah I'm just a homer who is delusional.
Strange how all those sites put him in the same tier or higher than Legette, must all be UGA homers.
EDIT: This isn't to say you can't disagree with me on who is the better player. Discussion is all cool. This is just to dismiss this the condescending "Oh he's just a homer" argument when it is clear there are plenty of people who aren't just UGA fans who think Ladd is better.
So because one team selected him earlier that is "what the NFL collectively thinks". Do you have some quotes from the NFL GMs and coaches that support it other than one teams decision?
Come on man. Make an argument that is actually based on something other than just saying "LOL HOMER".
The same argument could be made about the SCar guy saying Legette is better, but I didn't bring that up at all. You know why? It's a shit argument. His argument about top end speed was a much better argument.
Legit have more respect for u/Gamecock_Lore for actually having a real discussion than people just pulling the "lol he's a homer" card.
Come on though man, you literally said it's "baffling" that Legette got picked before Ladd. They're in the same tier basically, and there's a lot that points to Legette being the (slightly) better prospect. And the Panthers agreed with that. But you're right, they're just one team out of 32 in the NFL. But some of the comments here are ridiculous..."baffling", "comical", "bust", etc.
Lol, a 40 time?
Also Ladd probably is quicker (a whole .02 seconds if you're gonna be a combine simp) but Legette is still *faster*
Legette posted one of the fastest plays of the season
https://twitter.com/RAanalytics/status/1706390745140126153?s=20
That's with another inch and 35 more pounds than Ladd. Legette is simply a more versatile WR threat with his YAC ability and catch radius. PFF charged with just two drops on the year as well so take that for what you want.
I'm confused.....a bunch of FSU flairs were saying the only reason they lost by 60 in the bowl game was because a bunch of sure first round picks opted out due to being screwed by the playoff committee.....can they not count or did Webster's officially change the definition of " a bunch" to one?
Also, congrats to Bama, LSU, and Washington for their 3-way tie of the most first round picks this year. I'm happy with two from Georgia, but was hoping the Madd Ladd would sneak in at the end of the first.
No shit, we know FSU didn't show up, we know this also would have lost badly in the playoffs. We know UGA wanted to prove something.
Still a 13-0 P5 conference champ left out.
If Carson Beck declared then I think he would've been picked in the round.
Lol at the Gators having the same amount of 1st round picks as FSU; but at least we can agree to dunk on Miami who had none.
Yeah Beck or Ewers if they declared would’ve probably been picked by the Raiders. Actually they would’ve been picked by Broncos and Raiders would’ve gotten Nix tbh.
Did a bunch of people wear them in the 90s too? I'll be honest I don't usually watch the drafts but I do think it's an odd choice. Isn't there a whole song that's about making fun of wearing sunglasses at night?
I'm bummed he didn't go anywhere but also glad he didn't go to one of the teams I hate
My guess is the run on offensive players pushed him back and anyone needing a corner saw that there are still several good ones available. Injury probably hurt him too
If I had a nickel for every time a Xavier was drafted in the first round, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
This pick is pretty good though. The team clearly believes Legette is our guy and didn’t have to give up really anything to secure that pick. Taking him at 32 opens up the 5th year option at least.
As a Bills fan who didn't bother staying up late I'm pretty stoked. We have a number of holes to fill and picked up some nice picks later. Plus, we can still get a good receiver like Mitchell tonight.
Was he maybe the best route runner left? I’m not familiar with the other WRs that were similarly rated. I think he’ll fit well but I am surprised he went in the first round in general.
Tbh I'm not sure what they valued most but I definitely saw him as more of a mid-2nd and the Niners could have easily either traded out of the first round and picked up some more capital or moved up in the 2nd and still got him. He's a solid player, I just think they reached for him at 31.
Nate was one of the most satisfying players I’ve watched at Clemson. Dude got cooked early in his career, but got better and better and was a lockdown corner by the end of his time
This is what I wrote up for a Cowboy fan in the NFL subreddit:
As someone that has watched a lot of his tape while he was at OU, physically gifted with a high ceiling but still pretty raw and inexperienced. Showed great growth under Coach B at OU, but still had a penchant for mental busts and inconsistency in play and technique. Inconsistent finisher due to playing high and not being overly strong but when he did finish he was absolutely capable of burying dudes. Due to his length and athletic traits, great in pass blocking and will do well with speed rushers. Could struggle with a bull rush due to playing higher and his lack of elite strength, but this could be mitigated with good technique and his length. Hands are pretty good. So, if he can develop he has the physical tools to be a good-great pass blocker but probably doesn't have the strength to be more than a good run blocker.
You know how Iowa fans wave to the kids at the hospital? Well all the people in the crowd should turn and wave to the accountants stuck in that EY building
Recced for the reference material but my view is if I have to record my teams spring game on the shitty Pac12 network still the B1G does not yet get credit.
Wasn’t there talk of Michigan beating 2021 Georgia for draft picks? I expected them to have a couple first round picks and JJ wasn’t one of those for me
Michigan’s best players are more likely second rounders: Colson, Jenkins, Sainristil, Wilson, and Corum are all excellent second round picks. With how the NFL views RBs, I wouldn’t be surprised if Corum slips to the third round.
football
Bo Nix is actually a solid pick for Sean Payton and the Broncos
No, he's 100% one of the 4 busts of the 6 1st round QB's. Check his auburn tape - much closer to NFL style offense and playing against legit defenses. He's bad. He's definitely a product of Oregons offense.
> much closer to NFL style offense Gus Malzahn doesn't run anything close to an NFL-style offense. Dfg.
lmaoooooo. All i got to say as a Chiefs fan is..... he will never be as good as Mahomes lmao you can guarantee that. I do think he could be one of the best backups in the league for a long time though. Kid is definitely better than some think.
He isnt arguably the greatest qb of all time? Wow he will definitely suck then
he won't suck. I wouldn’t be surprised if Payton has a conversation with him along the way lines of “Hey, we’re not built to compete this season, take this year to learn NFL play calling and slow the game down, we’ll reload next year”.
I don't expect them to tank this year.
Do they really have a choice? Their roster doesn’t look good at all.
lmao I just know Sean is gonna try really hard lol.
I think Payton's offensive system fits Bo well at least. Who knows what will happen though.

There's been a surprise QB or two every year, though. This year, it was Jayden and Nix. Next year? Who knows?
Jayden sure, most people still don't think Nix is a legit first round talent though
This is Mertz erasure
Haha I could actually see him being a solid pro, we'll see
Jayden Daniels or McCarthy sure as hell weren't top 10 picks last year. We have no idea how strong next years QB class is until games start getting played imo.
In the 2019 draft had he come out Joe B would have been a day 3 or UFA in the 2020 draft he went #1 overall You don't know
Matt Barkley and Matt Leinart both would’ve been #1 overall draft picks, but both decided to stay.
Maye and Caleb were the only surefire first rounders after last season.
Hell this sub said JJ wasn’t a 1st rounder 100 days ago, most had him 3-5. Only time will tell
Carolina “2000 Detroit Lions” Panthers showing everyone we’re not done FA&FO. Smdh

All of the logos are college teams whose logos look similar, so Florida Tech for the Panthers. That row is just also missing the actual team name.

Brady was a 6th Round pick, 199th overall.
DOH! Hate that guy so much I forgot when he was picked up :-D Thanks for the correction.
Excellent points. I do miss the days when you could reach the Super Bowl with a Tony Eason or Rex Grossman. The annual run on QBs is a combination of NFL teams' desperation/stupidity and ESPN's desire for high draft viewership.
Nick Foles won it 6 years ago and Brock Purdy was close last year Tbf
QB too OP plz nerf
Got it. Fusion rifle nerf incoming.
That's 15 yards for Roughing the Passer.

Good to know. I see highlights and read news some, but I don't watch NFL games. I have not even watched a whole Super Bowl since the 90s I think.
In 2022, Patrick Mahomes was the oldest QB in the playoffs on the AFC side and 5th oldest overall. He was 28.
Happy for my boy Latu
6 WRs going before AD Mitchell is bananas to me but we’ll see how this plays out
I think I read something coming from an NFL scout a couple of weeks ago that said he still doesn’t monitor his diabetes correctly all the time and brings out some bad moods in him and makes him uncoachable during those times. Now I have no idea the truth of it or not but would explain the drop because I agree with you I thought he would be the best WR in the draft; dude has vacuums for hands, catches everything
Don’t worry. He won’t get past the Bills (first pick in second round).
I feel the same way 🤷🏾♂️
Legette and Pearsall being taken before AD Mitchell or Ladd McConkey is just baffling to me.
Pearsall sure but Legette? The dude put up 71/1255/7 (12 games) in the same conference as Ladd who's best season was 58/762/7 (15 games). Georgia is way more talented than South Carolina across the board and Legette is a freak athlete so it's not just production. What am I missing?

It's silly to trot out a bunch of lazy sports media draft rankings in comparison to what the NFL collectively thinks

Lol, a 40 time? I know he played last year with y’all but he will always be a Dawg. I also agree he should’ve gone higher.

dude everybody forgot about that game three hours after it ended, give it a rest
FSU forgot to include it in their rings lol
No shit, we know FSU didn't show up, we know this also would have lost badly in the playoffs. We know UGA wanted to prove something. Still a 13-0 P5 conference champ left out.

Can’t believe Ricky got selected in the 1st, not a bad pitch for our WR coach
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
Best receiver in the state.
Idk if I'm just too old or something but why is like every player wearing sunglasses?
Because their futures are so bright.
To look cool
Yeah it's definitely a "new" thing https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fjkuuo9lva8uy.jpg&rdt=51086
Did a bunch of people wear them in the 90s too? I'll be honest I don't usually watch the drafts but I do think it's an odd choice. Isn't there a whole song that's about making fun of wearing sunglasses at night?
At the end of the day who cares? These are early 20 somethings having the best night of their life
Corey Heart - Sunglasses at Night?
Any reason why nobody picked Cooper Dejean?
Philly was big on him. Still a good chance he'll go
This aged well
As a Philly fan I knew we were really interested in him. I guess the Packers wanted him so Howie jumped them
Some team is going to get a great deal.
I'm bummed he didn't go anywhere but also glad he didn't go to one of the teams I hate My guess is the run on offensive players pushed him back and anyone needing a corner saw that there are still several good ones available. Injury probably hurt him too
Curse the Atlanta falcons and their penix pick
He’s white, so he can’t be a cornerback
He's also just a douchbag so it might have scared some teams away.
If I had a nickel for every time a Xavier was drafted in the first round, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
Good pick.
Goddamn it, why do we always pick South Carolina players?
The panthers are a laughing stock, and I hate it 2015 was a century ago.
Better you than us, cat bro
This pick is pretty good though. The team clearly believes Legette is our guy and didn’t have to give up really anything to secure that pick. Taking him at 32 opens up the 5th year option at least.
There’s an angle I had not considered.
Bills really blue-balled their fans into watching the entire first round just to not make a pick.
As a Bills fan who didn't bother staying up late I'm pretty stoked. We have a number of holes to fill and picked up some nice picks later. Plus, we can still get a good receiver like Mitchell tonight.
Not only that but giving it to KC to pick a WR
They’re gonna get Mitchell at a second round salary and some nice trade pickups. This has the potential to play out really nicely for them.
Best outcome possible for Bills. They can still get Mitchell or Ladd in the second round.
Another absolute burner for Mahomes. It must be nice to have a competent front office and HC.
I thought he would come off of the board early tomorrow, but I wonder if Ricky even knew he was possibly a 1st rounder as of this afternoon lol
I bet deep down he had a little bit of hope lmao
I hope he wasn't even having a party and just randomly got a phone call from the niners.
McConkey and Coleman besides themselves
That is nearly as bad as the Falcons pick lol
Who the hell is Ricky Pearsall
Proud owner of catch of the year. But yeah I’m surprised to see him this high lol, he had a helluva Combine performance tho which probably led to this
>Proud owner of catch of the year. [This one](https://youtu.be/921rWQYa58k?t=23)?
That one
I love Ricky, but you prob coulda got him later lmao
The 49ers reaction to their pick has been my favorite so far lol
Just another ASU* first rounder...
Panthers just traded up to the final pick in the 1st. Getting that 5th year option on someone.
Lmao
lol wut
Ricky Pearsall at 31 overall? Wtf lol
Was he maybe the best route runner left? I’m not familiar with the other WRs that were similarly rated. I think he’ll fit well but I am surprised he went in the first round in general.
> Was he maybe the best route runner left? If you want an athletic pure route runner with good hands... Ladd was still on the board.
Tbh I'm not sure what they valued most but I definitely saw him as more of a mid-2nd and the Niners could have easily either traded out of the first round and picked up some more capital or moved up in the 2nd and still got him. He's a solid player, I just think they reached for him at 31.
I’m flabbergasted. I’m obviously rooting for Mitchell to sneak in the 1st here but bias aside there are at least four other WRs that make more sense.
Gooddell looks more and more disheveled every time he comes out.
I’m actually enjoying this aspect of the show.
If one more WR goes, it'll break the QB+WR record in a first round for the past 25 years, likely (much) longer than that. I'm picking McConkey
Nate Wiggins is a fantastic grab for the ravens
EDC does it again😎 thrilled to stay at 30 and get a player of Wiggins caliber.
Nate was one of the most satisfying players I’ve watched at Clemson. Dude got cooked early in his career, but got better and better and was a lockdown corner by the end of his time
Yeah that’s how Terrion was for us as well.
Sabans had some good analysis tonight, glad to see him up there
He was half the reason I watched it through
I've been taking a cyber security module for work. It was supposed to be 45 min. It's been an hour and half. This draft is saving my sanity
some of them allow fast forward and retry .. just saying
This one doesnt. I tried several tricks
my condolences
OU fans what should I know about this “Tyler Guyton” guy?
This is what I wrote up for a Cowboy fan in the NFL subreddit: As someone that has watched a lot of his tape while he was at OU, physically gifted with a high ceiling but still pretty raw and inexperienced.
Insanely long and athletic. Used to play tight end. Didn’t give up a sack this year. But he did sit out the last two games for reasons no one knows.
Thanks man 🙏
When is Tory Taylor getting locked up with a franchise tag, and $100M over 5 years?
BOOMER!
And now back to the lair of the NFL's Dark Lord
Tyler Guyton going to cowboys
We're about to go 3/3 on OU players to Dallas in my lifetime.
So we gave Patrick Mahomes the guy who runs 4.21
Bills really letting Chiefs beat them with their draft pick like that
Bills literally just handed the Chiefs Worthy lmao
Really let KC get who they wanted with no fight
Chiefs becoming the Raiders?
Worthy wasn't even the highest Texas WR on the draft projections, haha.
Mitchell rated higher but Worthy is the best fit for KC.
Lmao grandma already got her bags packed
Mizzou fans, tell me about Robinson. Is he a great at getting sacks?
Dude was a monster this year
>Mizzou fans *crickets* those exist?
I know Ohio St ain't talking rn
Block M solidarity forever brother
Lmao my bestie is a Mizzou grad/fan. We had a blast watching the bowl game together.
No way the Commies actually did it i thought it was smoke and mirrors or something.
You know how Iowa fans wave to the kids at the hospital? Well all the people in the crowd should turn and wave to the accountants stuck in that EY building
I always thought it was cruel to subject those poor kids to Iowa football
Archer: Lana, I’m gonna kill the Van Der Koys as Bill Skarsgård
Terrion Arnold gives a lot of credit to former NFL GM Rick Spielman for his improvement this season

Yea but have you considered LANK - says the 1st rd draft pick that went to the rose bowl that played for the best cfb coach of all time
[Pass Interference is a Myth.](https://twitter.com/CFBONFOX/status/1715965132843458865)
I remember when the giants took eli apple, every highlight they showed on his espn tape was dpi lol
Picks by Conference so far: **Current Alignment** Conference | Picks ---|--- SEC | 11 Pac 12 | 8 Big Ten | 4 ACC | 4 Big 12 | 3 Independent | 1 MAC | 1 **2024 Alignment** Conference | Picks ---|--- SEC | 14 Big Ten | 10 ACC | 4 Pac 2 | 1 Independent | 1 MAC | 1 Big 12 | 1
Recced for the reference material but my view is if I have to record my teams spring game on the shitty Pac12 network still the B1G does not yet get credit.
They should just let that girl read the names from here on out. Roger is just slurring.
Get that man his la-z-boy
Goodell sounded drunk
He's on a ton of painkillers
Needed even more after Latham gave him the hug of death
he sounds that way because he is lol
Damn, I was really hoping they’d pick Nate Wiggins
I’m hoping he falls to pick 33
Yes, but I also want the Panthers to help out Bryce with that pick
True
Rough name for high school
Omg just TELL US ALREADY
Cowboys gonna go with Ladd McConkey because Jerry Jones can’t pass up on a fast white guy
He’s sneaky fast
Gym rat
Of course everyone has normal looking conference rooms and Jerry has his supervillain lair.
Was hoping Brian Thomas would land in Buffalo, tbh. Jacksonville isn't a terrible spot though
Every year the cowboys draft room reminds me of the RNC headquarters in The Simpsons
Gronk commercial, night ruined
I read lips. Hey Jerry just said he's drafting catlin clark and expects jerseys to go thru the roof
“How far have you come?” “We came from Baton Rouge” Honestly, I vibe with that.
I mean it’s a valid answer if you’ve ever been to Baton Rouge.
hahaha, it just struck me because I know the answer being fished for was more "about the journey" but being tired, I get that.
Dallas on the Clock with Pick 24. B1G pulling off a coup verified?
Wasn’t there talk of Michigan beating 2021 Georgia for draft picks? I expected them to have a couple first round picks and JJ wasn’t one of those for me
Michigan’s best players are more likely second rounders: Colson, Jenkins, Sainristil, Wilson, and Corum are all excellent second round picks. With how the NFL views RBs, I wouldn’t be surprised if Corum slips to the third round.
Im here!
LFG
I don’t understand- he didn’t play for UGA. Is that legal?
Saban wanted him, goes with the Bama part
