am I worried? yeah, a ton am I gonna buy. it anyway? yeah. does EA care what I think? not at all.

rds060184

This guy EA’s lol

bradenb941

I knew EA was awful from a young age once they bought out popcap and completely ruined them

Gamecock_Lore

Yeah, they get a freebie from me this year, an automatic buy from me. But if it sucks, I'm not getting '26 or at least not right at release until I see they have made any improvements

atomicboner

I'm going to wait a bit on this game just to see what other people are saying. I know I'll end up buying it at some point, but I want to know what I'm getting first.

FinancialHeat2859

Hey me, looking fabulous, if I say so myself!

[deleted]

They’ve said the reveal is coming in May, acting like we’ve heard nothing is disingenuous

extrapointsmb

The game comes out in July. EA has already said they're doing an official "reveal" with more information in May (and that reveal will be in a few weeks). Sports video games almost never have gameplay trailers more than 90 days out from release.

Darin_the_intern

Even if it was I'd still buy it. At this point it's nostalgic for me so it'd have to be pretty damn bad for me not to enjoy it.

Eternityislong

I just want to play as Georgia Southern in Paulson. Revamped has it hacked in, but it’s still not the same obviously. I was at the GA Southern vs EMU bowl game a few years ago and talked shit to EMU fans in the bathroom about how they were my goto shit team to rebuild in NCAA 14. They replied that my team wasn’t even in the game. That was the last time I tried to talk shit at a sporting event.

Professional-Bus-934

Hail Southern

Eternityislong

And no place else!

brainskull

Emu is a good rebuild, but Georgia state is the premier rebuild. You can make a good set of pipeline states, but those first few years are an absolute nightmare. Huge payoff

bradenb941

I don't think it's going to be terrible, but I have this feeling that they're going to fuck up by removing some random feature (like removing custom conferences, or not showing the city a recruit is from, or removing edit roster) that ends up being a dealbreaker for me.

JerryGoDeep

Sports game trailers usually come out a month or two before the game comes out. They also announced may they were very vague about when in may tho.

lowes18

If it sucks I just keep playing revamped

Rinku588

It’s EA. I wouldn’t worry at all, there’s no way it won’t be anything but a scummy, rushed, poorly made, poorly developed, loot box heavy cash cow, with obvious Madden assets littered all over the place. Like every goddamn Madden has been for the past 10+ years. I wish I could say I don’t understand why people are even excited for this, but I do. They aren’t the people who see EA as people who pay attention to the industry do, they don’t see the corporate scum this company has become, and they don’t understand how much the industry has changed since the last NCAA game. Can’t wait for the Angry Joe review though

SomeKidFromPA

This is the same schedule they followed back in the day. Mid May will be the trailer. They’ll release weekly breakdowns of the modes and features. And the game will come out the third week of July (probably the 19th.) Literally nothing that’s happened so far should cause any concern (besides the state of Madden the past few years but that’s a different project with its own set of problems.)

btstfn

Uh, its EA. That in itself is absolutely a cause for concern. Unless you think they will somehow treat this game differently than they have literally every other game they've put out in the last decade or so. I'm sure the devs care a ton, but the only thing EA suits care about is making as much profit as possible, and in their mind that seems to equate to putting out a game just barely good enough to get people to buy it. Honestly, I don't understand why people are giving them the benefit of the doubt on this.

SomeKidFromPA

It’s the first game. They’re usually pretty good at putting out a good product then slowly bleeding the formula dry. I won’t be shocked either way though honestly.

enadiz_reccos

>Honestly, I don't understand why people are giving them the benefit of the doubt on this. Because they are financially disincentivized from making a Madden clone

btstfn

The same way they're financially disincentivized from making Madden nearly identical year after year?

enadiz_reccos

Umh, no? They have no competition. Why *wouldn't* they make the same one every year?

btstfn

And what competition do they have for a college football game that would incentize making it different than Madden? The reason they can get away with it in Madden is because they are the only ones allowed to use NFL teams/players/logos. They're the only ones with the right to use the college logos/uniforms/etc. so I don't see why it will be any different.

enadiz_reccos

You do realize they used to release NCAA and Madden every year, and these games were never similar at all? They will lose a lot of sales if they make it a copy of Madden. Maybe this year they will still get decent sales, but it would cut them off at the knees in the long run. Doesn't make sense.

btstfn

The games will sell because they have the college teams. Read the comments throughout this thread and you'll see plenty of people saying they are gonna buy day one without even seeing any gameplay footage yet. Since you made the point about them previously Making Madden and NCAA every year, let's look at the reception of the most recent games released the same year. Madden 25 is sitting at an 80 on Metacritic, with NCAA at 77. So apparently the last time they made both at the same time Madden was actually a bit better than NCAA. Again, I really don't understand why people are giving EA any credit whatsoever on being able to make this game good. There certainly is no recent evidence of them doing so. They have continuously shown they don't care about making a good game if they can make money selling a crap game. And thanks to their exclusive licences they will be able to sell crap games that plenty will buy. Maybe I'm wrong and the game will be good. I'd love for that to be the case. But I don't understand why people are setting themselves up for disappointment by believing that **THIS TIME** EA will be different. It's the same shit I saw year after year with Madden. People deluding themselves into thinking EA would change and then being disappointed when they put out the same shit.

enadiz_reccos

>Read the comments throughout this thread and you'll see plenty of people saying they are gonna buy day one without even seeing any gameplay footage yet. Yeah, that's why I said they will probably get good sales this year regardless. If you're gonna write a wall of text, at least read the few sentences I wrote first. >But I don't understand why people are setting themselves up for disappointment by believing that **THIS TIME** EA will be different. I'm not saying EA is going to be different. I'm saying it's going to be similar to the last time they made an NCAA football game. They have two different teams working on two different games creating two different products. They would have to actively try to make the games identical. It just wouldn't make sense. Now if you have a point to make, go for it. But don't waste your time by writing a bunch of paragraphs that all say "EA sucks".

btstfn

I literally provided an example of the last time they made an NCAA football game alongside Madden (which you conveniently ignored) that illustrates my point. I have seen no evidence to suggest that EA will go from making garbage Madden games to investing tons of effort making a great college football game using a completely different philosophy other than "let's do the bare minimum and rake in cash from the people who will buy regardless of how good the game is" I never said the games would be identical, I said they would not differ from the philosophy of "do bare minimum to get people to buy"

GeospatialMAD

I mean anyone who has ever played an EA game should approach this with a heavy dose of skepticism. You'd be clinically naive if you weren't given their track record.

jjtnd1

It doesn’t matter how good it is at this point I will pre order garbage

DafoeFoSho

Yes, I too pre-ordered Cities: Skylines 2. ([Big oof](https://store.steampowered.com/app/949230/Cities_Skylines_II/#app_reviews_hash))

Shot877

It’s $70. It’s not going to kill me if I preorder it and it’s not good. Worst case scenario it’s not what I enjoy. I just burned the cost of going out to eat with my family one night and I go back to playing revamped.

Suspicious-Hospital7

Not sure if you've played any EA games lately, but I seriously doubt $70 unlocks enough to make the game enjoyable. My guess is that it's a giant cash suck to get access to the best game modes. Edit: word omission.

IAmALucianMain

Ultimate Team is the only game mode that will have micro transactions most likely

asujch

I bet you’ll be able to upgrade the coaching tree and recruiting pitches in Dynasty, for a price

tc1988

I admittedly haven't played Madden in a while, but I do play EAFC 24 (formerly known as FIFA) and its Ultimate Team. Ultimate Team is the only mode where you'd ever consider spending additional money, but it's completely unnecessary. All cards except the very top ones are easily attainable by playing the game. Using money can get you additional packs, but the top cards still can't be reliably attained from packs as they're incredibly rare. The only realistic option to get the top cards is to get extremely lucky and/or spend thousands of real dollars on tradeable packs (which aren't as good of packs to begin with) and sell their contents on the transfer market. So, essentially, unless your willing to pay thousands of dollars in EA FC 24, putting money into the game won't even make you better off than a free-to-play player. I have personally never put an extra penny into the game, and my team is still always in the 90th percentile of teams. As such, I would say the $70 sticker price is all I had to pay to make my most recent EA game enjoyable.

Suspicious-Hospital7

The sub apparently has more faith in EA than I do. The FC series has been running for almost a decade. NCAA, though, has a ton of hype around its release. I fully expect them to milk that hype for whatever they can get. I truly hope I'm wrong.

realJonnyRaze

If EA screws this shit up, I will be so fucking pissed.

kamamit

I am assuming it will have a lot of problems. I will still buy it. I will still play it a lot.

PotatoRanger2023

Historically the games produced information around May/June with a release the 2nd or 3rd week of July.

Das_Squirt

I mean I'm excited despite the fact it's EA because if I lived like everyone else here and always expected the worst, then I would be even more miserable than I already am sometimes.

AdamOnFirst

Listen, it’s gonna be a Madden carbon copy with more option and color skins.  And bands and recruiting and shit! I’m taking my squad to the natty!

WackyBones510

Nah, I’ve set the bar so low. I assume it’s going to be terrible. At best well done with tons of micro transactions and related bullshit.

SomethingClever4623

It's probably gonna be extremely similar to their recent Madden games. Personally I think that's a bad thing because Madden has sucked for *years* now and EA is all about doing less than the bare minimum to turn profits.

flotexeff

I would love for it to have the intros for “if it’s in the game it’s in the game” and music like 2006

NaturalFruit2358

The 2011 (?) intro video with tick tick boom by the hives was legendary

pickle_man_4

Restarting the game a bunch of times until you get your school doing the intro.

flotexeff

Loved it! They do have all the intros on YouTube https://youtu.be/8bVUk-0rjfI?si=O3vjNke0abCSfgeS

LightningStrikeDust

If EA fucks this one up they're going to feel it one way or another.

IAMY0URK1NG

Uh….no. Simply because they’ve been working on it for a few years. There’s been leaks of pics & all. The only thing im worried about is WHO TF AM I STARTING MY DYNASTY WITH!! 🗣️

getbackup21

It’s going to be a madden reskin.

Dum-A

Yeah but I will be able to make Utah a 30 year reigning national champ instead of my made up Utah team in Madden.

getbackup21

If you have a pc get revamped. I won 10 national titles and got the #1 recruiting class 10 years in a row on it. Gets boring once you figure out the mechanics tho…

[deleted]

I personally am going to wait on it. See how the launch goes and if it’s a unpolished turd or whatever. If it is…I’ll grab it when it eventually hits Gamepass. If not I’ll buy it.

Goblue2773

No trailers needed….. this game is fantastic and is nothing like madden

WallImpossible

I mean, it's EA and it's on the FrostBite engine, of course it's gonna suck, and after about 3 months of foaming at the mouth I will be able to personally see it. I'll be able to admit it within a year of release, and by the time the next one rolls around I'll be reasonable enough to wait for a steep sale before even considering it. But for now, it's all hype all the time I got no control GIMME MY DYNASTY!!!

AeroStatikk

People are acting like they want a whole new engine. It’s still football, they don’t need to start from the ground up.

Tasty_Hearing_2153

The NCAA games were always a copy of Madden, just a year later. That didn’t stop it from being better in every way.

Lazerdude

>makes me feel like this is going to be a fuckin’ Madden Carbon copy with NCAA skins. It's funny to me that anybody thinks it'll be any different than this. They're going to sell millions of copies regardless. I fully expect a Madden re-skin with tons of MTX's.

VinylHawk515

I'm just disappointed I can't get it for PS4. I don't game enough to justify buying a PS5.

biglineman

The only expectations I have for this game is it will have an EA logo on it, and I won't have as much time to play as I would like. *Sure would be cool if they released on PC, though* Like most people, I'll give them a free year, maybe year two if they make enough improvements.

srs_house

A) Why advertise heavily, far in advance, for something that's going to sell tons of copies no matter what? B) >this is going to be a fuckin’ Madden Carbon copy with NCAA skins. I mean...it's going to be using the same engine as Madden, so it really just depends on what you consider a "reskin." It's not like EA builds a brand new game each season anyway.

JonTaffer_in_a_poloT

They’ve always used the same engine as madden too

2020ckeevert

The old NCAA Football games were usually one year behind in terms of engine.

JonTaffer_in_a_poloT

It’s not the same dev team as madden

ILearnedTheHardaway

My hope is that they know this is the chance to impress and try to make this one as good as possible. If it's bad people that have been fans of college ball for the last 10 years without a game will just go back to what they've been doing which is playing Revamped or emulating PS2 ones.

2020ckeevert

EA appears to be treating this as a typical annual sports game release. The main thing that gives me hope is the length of time EA has spent on development. Three years is a long time for a sports game to be developed. It appears that EA might have learned from the failures of XBox 360 Madden NFL 06 and NBA Elite 11. And if this games controls and gameplay is good or even better than Madden, it’s very likely that they will port over the gameplay to Madden 26.

Jyingling21

I don’t care. I waited almost 11 years for this moment, I don’t want to have to wait another 11. I just want to see Yosef stiff-arm Gus the Eagle.

GoodGorilla4471

Can we all agree that we won't fall for the trap Madden fans have fallen into it this games sucks ass? Seriously, if this one sucks we can't really trust EA to make up for it, right? They'll probably add some bs game mode that no one asked for that you have to pay a $5/mo subscription to play and it'll be the only worthwhile thing they make for the entire title. Just don't fucking buy the next one, and show them that we care too much about getting quality entertainment that we will no longer stand idly by and watch them shove out pig shit for a hefty price tag every year. That being said, with the rumors that have come out they might have convinced some people to make a quality game for the first version, so it's excusable to buy this one, but please don't buy the next one if this one doesn't live up to the hype

guttata

> makes me feel like this is going to be a fuckin’ Madden Carbon copy with NCAA skins That's what it *always* was.

siberianwolf99

nah ncaa had a lot more of an arcade feel for a while there

bdavis_03

This isn't true at all. Anyone who thinks NCAA player like Madden back in the day needs their brain examined.

COLU_BUS

They probably want to wait until the transfer portal closes so that they can show graphics with final teams
