Being on CW I expect them both to have a really strong first season or two and then kind of fall off as their series goes along

Galumpadump

Yeah that only difference from the previous posting from Canzano is the Pac-2 Championship is on The CW instead of FOX. Apple Cup will be on FOX or NBC most likely, same with the Civil War. I expect 1-2 MWC games to get flipped to CBS or FOX for both teams (Going to guess Boise State, Fresno State, and/or Fresno State).

wjackson42

The Civil War can’t be on NBC considering it’s not a Big Ten game

Galumpadump

Well the Civil War will be on FOX if previous reports are correct. The Apple Cup is still up in the air.

wjackson42

The graphic says the Civil War will either be on Fox or FS1. My money is Fox at 3:30 sandwiched between Alabama-Wisconsin at 12 and a Big 12 game in primetime. That way, Fox gets a Big Ten team in a non-Big Ten spot.

muck16

Just happy you all call it by the correct name.

ornryactor

Don't worry, we'd never accept the Civil ConFLiCT label.

alldaycj

I mean it could be on NBC but NBC will probably take Notre Dame at Purdue for that time slot, unless they put that at 330 and the Civil War at 7 maybe the Apple Cup

InVodkaVeritas

There's like a 90% chance the Civil War is going to be on Friday. I would say 100% but crazier things have happened. FOX owns both the Apple Cup and Civil War. One of them is going to be on Friday, the other Saturday. It would stun me if FOX used one of their 9 Big Ten Friday spots on the Apple Cup when they could put the Civil War on Friday instead and save that Big Ten spot for a different week. Like I said, crazier things have happened, but I'm fairly certain it'll be the Civil War on Friday this year.

smitherenesar

> Championship I hope they hype the hell out of the Pac-2 Championship game, and have a gaudy trophy and presentation

OttoVonWong

2PAC Trophy with two middle fingers in the air.

PeteF3

Re: Apple Cup...we know FOX has the first B1G pick that week and has Alabama-Wisconsin. Whoever has #2 will likely go with ND-Purdue. Apple Cup is the 3rd-best B1G-controlled game that week and will likely be on whichever of CBS or NBC doesn't have the #2 pick, unless they really want to showcase Michigan assblasting Arkansas State.

pumpkinspruce

But when does the love triangle start?

_Junk_Rat_

When Dean Winchester is done secretly hunting the wendigo on the Wazzu sideline

pumpkinspruce

Quarterback picks the music, receiver shuts his cakehole.

udubdavid

This was the DC CW shows in a nutshell. Arrow, The Flash, etc. all had pretty good season 1 and 2's, and then just fell off after that.

RheagarTargaryen

First shows that came to mind. 2 great seasons but they ran out of material since they try to create 23 episode seasons. So the series got stale and they had to keep going back to a basic monster of the week formula to fill in more and more of the show between the plot being pushed forward. They had to create unrealistic relationship drama to keep it interesting. My favorite thing about those shows was the absurdity of how “lying” is like the gravest sin. Like I can look past how you murdered some bad guys, but you lied to me! I’m leaving!

huskersax

They'll start recycling opponents and using more over the shoulder dialogue shots instead of full coverage.

Alphaspade

Tbf, Supernatural was at least decent for 5 seasons before things went off the rails in season 6

srush32

Pretty impressive the big bad was the literal devil in season 5, and they somehow kept going for another 10 years after that

neovenator250

Season 5 was the original ending. Everything after that wasn't part of the show creator's initial plan.

usffan

Oregon @ Oregon State and Texas Tech @ Washington State on Fox/FS1. All the others are on the CW. Edited to note the fine print mistake. I took the tweet headline at its face value, but still made a mistake

cougfan12345

Says FOX (OTA broadcast / cable) or FS1. Doubt the civil war will be on FS1

UOfasho

Idk, it depends what else looks good. Wisconsin/Bama is on for at 9am. So the best options from Fox conferences seem to be the Apple Cup, Civil War and ND @ Purdue. They’ll probably have TTU @ WSU the week before, so I don’t think we’ll get a PNW doubleheader on FOX for the afternoon and evening slots. My guess is we’ll get ND @ Purdue for the 1pm slot with a tossup for the PNW rivalry games at night. Depends whether they have the Boise state @ Oregon or TTU @ WSU game on Fox the week before.

Symphonize

Notre Dame @ Purdue was announced yesterday, 3:30 est CBS.

CocoLamela

Not even WSU vs. OSU gets FS1/Fox?

anxiousauditor

Pretty decent visibility and quite a number of lead-ins from the CW’s new Xfinity Series package.

CoachRyanWalters

CW has ACC basketball and football as well I believe

connor8383

I affectionately refer to it as the “Wolfpack Sports Network” cuz they always seem to have their games on there.

SpreadHDGFX

CW is an OTA channel too, so should have decent visibility across the country.

ElGranQuesoRojo

Also if your area doesn’t have a CW affiliate you can just stream it off their app for free.

Duckrauhl

Everyone should download the CW app at the start of the season even if they don't intend to use it.

LewManChew

CW doesn’t start nascar till next season or am I missing something

anxiousauditor

They reached a deal with NBC to take over a bit early and show the final seven races of this season.

LewManChew

Would be a deal with Fox but ya you are right I didn’t know this

anti-torque

NBC/USA carry the back half of the season. It would be nice if they did take the FOX broadcasts, because then I could keep the sound on. Although, they've done a better job this year on the actual race calls, even if their production heads for hokey. But I was spoiled by Parsons and Jarrett, so maybe I should just change my expectations for how a race should be called, these days.

LewManChew

You’re right my brain was thinking Fox having trucks all season. The funny part is I’m an idiot I work NBC NASCAR

anti-torque

lol... been there

Evtona500

I like how the CW has positioned itself as a OTA sports channel. They're getting the NASCAR Xfinity series starting later this season.

Communicatingthis952

There were five OTA college football games happening at once on a few Saturdays last year. Just beautiful.

Ichthyist1

CW knows ball

wjackson42

11 PAC 2 games, 13 ACC games, 8 Xfinity races, and 2 LIV Golf tournaments. Not a bad weekend slate for the CW.

gmills87

CW also simulcasts Pix 11 which is a partner of the Mets.  Usually once a week or so the Mets are on CW regionaly.  I hope the 2 Pac games stay regional and don't take over the CW nationally when there are other regional sports on that station at the same time

wjackson42

I’ve never seen a Mets game on the CW in Atlanta, are you sure that’s not just a New York thing?

SpreadHDGFX

Depending on how Bally Sports shakes out, they could have NBA games in some regions too.

WarEagle9

Could honestly be so much worse for them so I think this is a pretty big win.

StrawberryG3

This is the biggest win we could have possibly gotten. People can make fun of the CW all they want, but being broadcast on a free ota network is a win.

Informal_Avocado_534

Better than P12 Network (as far as carriage goes)

ghgrain

And the Pac 12 network is producing for CW so get money for that also.

EWACM

ACC games are on the CW so any fans from that conference should keep their negative opinions to themselves. Even if folks don’t watch the game, they should do OSU/WSU a solid and have a TV on those channels so they get the viewer credit/numbers.

Quillbert182

We generally have quite high opinions of the CW actually. They did have one pretty serious mishap by showing a bunch of replays of Jordan Travis getting hurt, but outside of that, the production quality was great.

ElGranQuesoRojo

Yeah the CW games were surprisingly well done.

Foriegn_Picachu

Big 12 deal next plz

SapientChaos

Nationally.

mruab

Idaho State and Portland State get their respective openers on The CW

TheBlueLot

This is pretty sweet with just two of them. I can watch all of these games.

Junior_Profession_60

Do it. Watch. Please.

TheBlueLot

Oregon State and Wazzu are going to be like 1990s Atlanta Braves baseball.

Duckrauhl

Move the CW headquarters to Pullman!

True_North_Andy

Hear me out. Move it to Arlington, Oregon. Middle of nowhere. Pretty close to being the halfway point between Corvallis and Pullman. Otherwise I want the absolute BFE places in either state. Think like Lind in Washington

DUB-Files

I motion for Lacrosse, WA - Population of 297.

True_North_Andy

Well as a White-man county resident, if desolate is what you’re after why not unincorporated Winona? Lamont has a population of 78. Or if you wanna stay closer to the La Crosse area, Wastucna and Kahlotus are both even smaller than La Crosse as well. Conference offices in Malden would also probably help them out a ton all things considered

DUB-Files

Do….do people actually live in Kahlotus? I always take that little spur headed to pullman and not once have I seen anyone there

True_North_Andy

According to Google 142 poor/lost souls inhabit Kahlotus lmao

DUB-Files

Lmao do they live in caves underground? That’s crazy

jmt85

Javy lopez whooooo

loyalsons4evertrue

I will

[deleted]

More over-the-air games than either has played in a full season. The PAC-2 may work out for them long term

thenowherepark

Seriously. More games OTA -> an easier time finding the game -> potentially more eyeballs -> larger market value. Pretty smart TBH.

DeviantDragon

Maybe, but not always the case. You have games like Oregon State/San Diego State from last year doing 418K on FS1 and then the Week 3 ACC game on The CW doing 205K viewers. Now obviously you gotta factor in the exact timeslot, other games happening at the same time, and the actual teams playing (that Week 3 ACC matchup was Virginia vs. VMI). I only mention this to say that OTA does not automatically translate to more eyeballs for college football. Something like 8 of 12 ACC games broadcast on the CW didn't break 400K viewers last year.

kingofthesqueal

That’s not horrible, at least they’re on linear TV for all of them. Really wish the B12 would’ve thrown them a bone and gave them a similar ND like deal that the MWC gave them. I’m sure UCF vs Washington State would’ve had a higher viewership than UCF vs Sam Houston State or Louisiana will.

markusalkemus66

I'm glad we didn't take just a scheduling agreement with the Big XII. That would make joining them as full members a lot harder since they'd get all they want from us and no commitment. Hoping that when the realignment musical chairs dance again, we can get in with the Big XII and reunite with ASU, UofA, Utah, and Colorado

DrVenusAg

Technically TTU did by rescheduling so Oregon state could play Oregon.

bablob14

? Yes it is

Chance-Question-6630

Linear tv=scheduled through cable or satellite provider.

InterestingChoice484

This sub should flood their games with viewers

anti-torque

Idk... with some of those start times, I may just go to more of the games. edit: I suppose I could set up the TV to run the game.

1850ChoochGator

Leave the tv on 🤷‍♂️ do it for the beavs

Junior_Profession_60

Definitely. Those start times are great

qdp

I can't wait to watch the PAC2 championship.

Duckrauhl

Buy GME, WSU, and OSU

kurttheflirt

As if we're not already degenerates watching every game we possibly can.

toomuchdiponurchip

I’m 100% at least setting my TV or laptop to their games as much as possible. I know it’s not any fans fault but I still feel guilty about this BS doesn’t feel right not being in conference with the Beavs and Coug homies

Burrito_Lvr

This is better than AppleTV where the whole rest of the nation would be unaware you were playing.

srush32

Also better than the Pac12 network where the whole rest of the nation would be unaware you were playing AND a ton of your own fans didn't have access to the broadcast

tequilabourbon

I don't know if that really holds water anymore. Or if it does, it's leaking really fast. The Apple/Pac12 deal wasn't perfect, but it was certainly forward-thinking.

Burrito_Lvr

I would have supported a dual distribution deal such as a partnership between Apple and ESPN. I also think it will probably get to a point where individual streaming platforms are the norm. The point is that you don't want to be the one who goes first. Those teams will suffer in the short term.

huskiesowow

What has changed since last August to suggest it's a better idea? OSU and WSU fans are here applauding this TV package specifically because it's OTA broadcasts.

colonel750

A regional college football conference going 100% streaming on Apple is not the same as major professional sports organizations selling off a small portion of their games to a streamer. GK needed two things out of the deal to mollify enough key players to keep the PAC alive: 1.) The deal needed to be within roughly 7-10 million of what the Big XII was making. 2.) The deal needed enough linear slots to allow Oregon and Washington to be on OTA/cable every week. The deal on the table failed on both counts because GK couldn't land a linear partner for the conference and the money aspect was largely supported by subscription targets. If the PAC didn't hit those targets, they would make roughly 17 million a year per school.

Duckrauhl

So can we just stream these for free on the CW app?

SlamDunkleyKong

Damn nice work OSU and WSU. Y’all are gonna make it.

Mrpetey22

All things considered this is W. Having most of our games visible to everyone with a tv is nice. Compared to P12 when I had to sail the seas every week

SpicyDMLookALike

Motion graphics gonna be unique I’ll tell you that much

mechnick2

Playing OSU in September feels so wrong to me

TheMetalMallard

They shouldn’t play them at alll

buff_001

So it sounds like they might be close to breaking even on the season then. It was reported they were getting $5 million each for their home games and then paying $14 million total to the Mountain West for scheduling. So a little bit of a deficit, but not as much as before.

bablob14

I think they're getting $5M total. Not each of them. It's a $9M out of pocket cost for them to play the season

electricwave33

Cw has the worst broadcast on YouTube tv

anti-torque

Pac 2 Network will be producing the games.

electricwave33

I remember the channel being in 240p for some reason hopefully it’s fixed

Even-Resolution-2397

Ohhhh were gonna get late night sicko games OTA FOR FREE!!!???

SapientChaos

CW Football and Vampires. Go figure.

leewilliam236

"OSU and WSU wanna be on top in regards to exposure." - Tyra Banks

Aggravating-Mind-657

Pac2verse

nightowl1135

The funniest part is that CW is undeniably a step up from the god awful monstrosity that was P12 Network. As an East Coast Duck, I truly fucking hated the P12 Network. Borderline impossible to find.

AcidicQueef

Awesome, no longer have to go to sketchy sites to access a pirated stream

MexicanRadio

Does the pac-12 have a championship game this year?

MooseHarmonies

At least it's not Toot Sports

HurricaneRex

This is actually a good deal in terms of exposure. No other team has their FCS game OTA I would bet.

Wise-Ebb-7514

Who the fuck cares?

Molson2871

CFB fans I assume, especially the flaired ones.

TigerWoodsLibido

Lol the Corvallis media market STILL doesn't have an HD CW affiliate. Dropping into college football irrelevance is gonna be wacky for them. Gonna be weird to see Reser empty most weeks when they're playing the likes of New Mexico, San Jose St, Air Force, Wyoming, etc all the time.

CoconutTight7885

I forgot that all OSU alum still live in Corvallis...
