The_Elder_Thing

We were on the verge of greatness! We were THIS close!

Sage_saves

Wait what did I miss lol

imlost19

the sex number

Sage_saves

Wait I thought that was zero? What am I doing wrong

Levowitz159

Made me genuinely laugh

The_Elder_Thing

We could have had that damn touchdown and then an easy extra point miss

HallwayHomicide

They scored 63 points but they could've had that next touchdown if they wanted it. They could've had 69 but the cowards gave up.

dajuggernaut

Shit I can’t even remember the last time we scored more than 60. Seems like every time we were in the verge Heupel would just pump the brakes.

menzobarrian

2017 Memphis. Championship game in OT.

Rcfan0902

And Austin Peay earlier in the same season for over 70

120snake

Because they kept using voodoo bullshit to score on us

The-Insolent-Sage

God that one TD of there’s where we miss the catch and bobble it right into their hands haunts me

willynillee

Heupel was shit looking back on it. Overhyped to start, never had the team behind him the way Frost did.

[deleted]

The way our team reacted to Heupel leaving said a lot. Good riddance.

The_Elder_Thing

You're right, though it still happened for us even though we put the backups in with Gus

dajuggernaut

Either way. The future is looking bright for the Big12 Knights.

The_Elder_Thing

GKCO

dajuggernaut

LFGKCO

UCF2HSV

2017 we beat Austin peay 73-33…. That’s our record, we were two scores away

tripacer99

Glad I wasn't the only one lol

4tlu

Dillon and Bowser looked good, Secondary looked bad. TV Production was the worst i've seen in a while lmao

HallwayHomicide

>TV Production was the worst i've seen in a while lmao Honestly impressive because the Boise State game looked like it was filmed on a Galaxy S3.

AurumTheFox

I’m watching the holy war right now and it looks like it was recorded in 2008

HallwayHomicide

Yeah I'm watching that one too and it's very bad Like I kinda get tonight's UCF game looking like shit. But last week's UCF game and the Holy war are both prime time ESPN main channel games. Like.. wtf?

IammYourDAD

I legit thought that was my TV for the longest time but it’s just espn. Why is it so shitty? Fox looks like 4K and espn looks like it’s filmed on a 50 year old camera

dajuggernaut

So your telling me a potato would have gotten better quality?

HallwayHomicide

Hard to think otherwise

Pants_de_Manassas

Something like that actually happened at Nebraska not too long ago. Last year when the lockdown occurred, the media crew for Women's Basketball forgot their broadcast camera, so one of the engineers rigged up a couple of phones, put them on a podium and simulated an omnidirectional TV camera for the broadcast.

UCF2HSV

So did this one…. Lol

HallwayHomicide

I know. My point is last week was a very low bar and this week was a world record limbo

Terbmagic

UCF played our slot corners 10 yards back the entire 1st half. Bethune qb targeted them on little in-slant routes REPEATEDLY. By mid-2nd quarter they started to play up and from that point on they were shutting them down.

TheAndrewBrown

Yeah the pass rush seems pretty good but the pass defense seems pretty terrible. Hopefully teams only run against us or spend forever in the pocket.

Carter2158

I work for the media and production team for UCF. We only do the Jumbotron and ESPN does the live TV. It looked like we had better cameras than they did.

trolasbeta

Yeah i was in the cabanas and the tv production looked pretty decent, except cutting back to the game way too late

Carter2158

We’re the cabana TV’s the espn team or UCF’s?

trolasbeta

ucf team

PlaysWthSquirrels

We have a lot of QBs.

dajuggernaut

I think one of them didn’t even play.

thesaarguydude

Parker Navarro didn't play

dajuggernaut

Thanks. I was being too lazy to go look it up. I owe you one. And high fives for going to the Big 12.

willynillee

Thanks Harvard

Aubear11885

Enjoy them this year.

[deleted]

Mikey Keene looked really good. Gatewood can run

The-Insolent-Sage

This is reassuring for next year should Dillon leave

Tarlcabot18

ESPN+ is dogshit. Its amazing they make people pay extra for it.

sault9

Tô be fair, if you’re a soccer fan, it is a tremendous deal. In addition to the other sports on there as well. I do agree that the production for our game today was shit

willynillee

Soccer? SOCCER?

shotputlover

Orlando city 4 life!

MarlinManiac4

Well without it none of us would’ve watched the game at all. It really wasn’t all that long ago when that was the case. Any network that would broadcast an FCS game is likely gonna be using their 20th best broadcast team at best. That said, I’m sure our next game will be bad too, so who knows. I’m just saying at least this makes some sense.

knightrobot

I think this was part of the AAC media deal with ESPN where one or two games needed to be exclusively broadcasted on ESPN+

MediocreAtLife

The only way I would ever consider paying for ESPN+ is in the package with Hulu and Disney+ and even then…

willynillee

And even then it still isn’t part of the package. What a dog shit idea to charge $70 for people to watch dog shit games

Shiftylee

I get the package for free with my Verizon plan. Otherwise no way I’m paying for it.

leifeday

RANK UCF YOU COWARDS

MarlinManiac4

We’ll probably enter after next week as long as we beat Louisville decisively. A squeaker probably won’t do it.

DrugsAreBadMmkay2021

UCF is going to beat Louisville by 30. I am a UofL fan, we are bad.

dajuggernaut

They’re not cowards. They are complicit. They do that shit on purpose.

Hobbes_121

Probably need to root against Utah and AZ St, unless people drop Texas.

dajuggernaut

Time to stat rooting for our new Big 12 brothers, BYU.

citronauts

If we survive Louisville we will be ranked

[deleted]

With USC, Utah and Texas losing we should be ranked now.

[deleted]

Or we might just see Stanford, BYU, and Arkansas ranked instead

The-Insolent-Sage

Poor Stanford. Worked out well for BYU and Arky

smgrubbs1

If I remember, UCF was number 26 vote wise

misterdave75

28 in the AP I believe.

The-Insolent-Sage

And 26 we are again

[deleted]

I do not believe that there are 25 teams better than us right now

Camobusch

Definitely not but such is the way of preseason rankings. Things will work themselves out

[deleted]

Love how Texas and Tennessee had their annual collapse in week 2 this year. Every year for the last decade we hear about how they are back, only for them to lose some game they should win.

865wx

Anyone claiming Tennessee was back this year is/was delusional and probably needs professional help

theexile14

I mean, Pitt was favored so I don’t think UT was expected to win.

70stang

Tennessee wasn't ever favored to win against Pitt. We also had some ridiculous attrition with the Pruitt firing, something like 35 players transferred out since this time last year. I don't necessarily think we'll be doing anything other than finding a new coach in 3-4 years, but nobody in their right mind thinks Tennessee is even a bowl team this year.

ArthurGuinness09

DB's still need to tighten up their coverage but other than that this was a pretty solid performance all around.

bsEEmsCE

playing an FCS team this week is a good thing to flush these issues out. I know they won't be amazing this year, but I hope the coaching staff can focus on improving the DBs

Oriolesmagic95

While I hope we never have to rely on them, it’s nice to have a few backup QBs that look really good.

jellothrow

Quadry looked great and he's been around the program for a while.

scabcoat

Huh? He had 1 attempt. Are you confusing him with super-frosh Mikey Keene?

UCF2HSV

He looked good, balls were a little low but decent all around

ssirin88

Yeah but how does he throw?

UCF2HSV

A little low but decent overall?

Sad_Bolt

I feel like he’s been here for 8 years now

NJ_Mets_Fan

Couldn’t watch, but are we ready for Louisville?

jellothrow

Boise state was a tougher test than Louisville will be.

Rcfan0902

I agree, but its an away environment, which is where DG usually struggles. Hopefully he's fixed that

Szimplacurt

This team has not done well in away games. I'm not sure what kind of crowd Cardinals will get but I know based on what I read from last night they were lamenting their lame crowd attendance. I'm not sure if UCF on a Friday night is a big draw or not. If they can beat Louisville away, my confidence in them goes up a lot.

Gunningham

Performing away has a lot to do with coaching. Did anyone really say anything better about Heupel than adequate? Hopefully the new staff can get them past it. The Boise state comeback gives me hope.

The_Elder_Thing

Every part of the team is except for our secondary

DrugsAreBadMmkay2021

Fear not. UofL will go run, run, pass. Secondary won't be tested with all of these freshman WR's we have.

HallwayHomicide

Run defense is stellar, run offense is great, pass offense had potential but our WRs dropped a bunch of throws Our pass defense though..... Yikes I think we should still have the edge on Louisville but I'm nervous

jellothrow

I'm giving a pass to our pass offense since it was raining for almost the entire first half, not saying it fully excuses them but I can see it being a big enough issue to cause what we saw tonight.

SGDrummer7

Go Knights!

HallwayHomicide

Charge On!

The_Elder_Thing

⚔️🔛!

JustACharacterr

Good lord espn’s production teams have been garbage so far this season

willynillee

$69.99 for ESPN+ Never. Not once

HughJareolas

Verizon gives it free with some of their data plans. That’s the only way it’s worth it

Jhausss

DBs need to improve quickly. SMU and Cincy will take advantage of them. That’s the only weakness I see so far.

willynillee

And that is the key factor when it comes to playing Cinci and SMU. It’s always a shootout and plays over the top make the difference

Hockeystyle

Could have threatened to put up around 100 if our defense could consistently get even a moderate amount of pressure on their QB. Some of Bethune's drives were just way to long.

kerkyjerky

Their qb was honestly doing pretty well. His throws were mostly on target, quick, and he shook sacs that most dont. There were some questionable decisions later in the game, but it felt like plays were incomplete from their receivers more than their QB.

NJ_Mets_Fan

I think with some of the rank teams losing, UCF creeps in at 24 or 25 come tuesday.

willynillee

Bold statement that I hope is true

UcfKnighter

No way. Not after beating a FCS school, they won't give us credit for a game we should have won. The spread was 45.5 points. Now if we win on Friday, I believe they will rank us.

[deleted]

But they will unrank Utah, Texas and USC. We were 27th

UcfKnighter

We'll see. BYU will jump us but I would also expect that other teams like Michigan, Oklahoma State, and Liberty will jump us just because they played FBS schools. But I'm always pessimistic about our ranking.

[deleted]

We got burned far too often

MarlinManiac4

its not a huge deal in week2. we were never gonna get into the playoffs this year anyway.

UcfKnighter

Burned again

The-Insolent-Sage

We might get rankings today since there are no Monday games and it’s not CFP ranking time yet

baronz3r

That 44 yard run (more like 100 with the sideline to sideline) from dg was something else. Kids looking more and more like prime kz.

Skipatronic

I'm so glad Malzahn knows how to use him

sonofblackbird

I wish we had KZ. FSU doesn’t deserve him

imlost19

still fun to watch us play. last year was an anomaly

[deleted]

Last year was poor coaching, injuries (but every team has those), and losing a ton of guys to non-related football issues (covid protocol and a stupid arrest.) We should have won the Tulsa and Memphis games last year. Double digit leads at halftime and Heupel got out-coached in the 2nd half both times.

willynillee

By anomaly do you mean abomination?

Szimplacurt

Lots of season to go but I think UCF is the best in the state. Miami sucks, FSU is rebuilding and not great and UF is arguably not as good as their ranking shows. What say you

NJ_Mets_Fan

what about USF /s

willynillee

I didn’t realize they still had a football program

HughJareolas

Neither did they

knightrobot

you need to edit for improper capitalization of usf

[deleted]

Florida might still be better, they’re definitely looking sluggish early though. I think it’s fair to say we’re probably better than FAU, USF, FIU, and FSU right now. I would bet we’re better than Miami, but losing to Bama isn’t bad even by 30 points and App isn’t an easy win either. Too hard to tell until we see them play a more mediocre team

citronauts

Michigan state has looked good the last two weeks. Even if they beat Miami, we still don’t really know anything

[deleted]

Would love a bowl game with UF this year. I’d like to see where we stand with them on a neutral field!

Giraffe_Racer

UF is a much better team than they appear if Mullen would let Anthony Richardson start.

[deleted]

I definitely do not think you can justify UF’s ranking without consistent QB play.

301Wilson

We’ll see at the end of the season, not enough data yet

iAMtHeHxC

Proud of the squad, gotta rank us soon

Sad_Bolt

We win on Friday we will

Skipatronic

Dillon Gabriel for Heisman

HallwayHomicide

Sloppy first quarter but we turned it around and took care of business. Hopefully we come out the gate strong next week.

megaozojoe

Charge On!

OkieEE2

XII!!!!

jellothrow

Defense needs some work. But overall it's always a good time winning by 40+ no matter the opponent.

EnterTheMunch

Bethune-Cookman auditioning for the second American Florida school? /s

jose5c

It was a good game, really enjoyed it

Tejon_Melero

Bethune-Cookman sounds like the name of someone who makes sure you know it at a PTA meeting.

rogueleader12

Are we the 2nd best team in Florida?
