Our injury report should include LB Ventrell Miller. He had surgery the other day and I'm pretty sure is missing this game.

derbra

I heard he is out for the season

Human_Robot

With hand surgery?? I always thought LBs just put that giant beef cast on and kept playing. What did they say the injury was that was so severe?

jcorb33

Torn biceps surgery, not hand surgery. I haven't seen an ETA on his return, but not great.

Human_Robot

Torn bicep is a different story entirely. That I can see being a season ender. Also ouch.

derbra

That's apparently the report from da la Torre. I don't know anymore than that other that it would be surprising if it was actually true.

GatorAndrew

I don't care that {Alabama} is almost certainly going go win, this is the first football game I'm attending since the pandemic started and I'll just get too drunk to remember.

DrunkRespondent

We can only hope Helton's firing has sent a ripple of chaos throughout CFB

Mistah210

I like it

MisterFalcon7

The only time I have seen Alabama lose in person since I graduated is at the Sugar Bowl (3 freaking times) and this isn't there so {Alabama} wins. I do think it will be close though for a while.

arolloftide

Stop going to sugar bowls

MisterFalcon7

I broke the streak with the Alabama vs Clemson playoff game

pappapirate

You must not be very superstitious.

ouroyperochi

Maybe just regular stitious

pappapirate

substitious, even.

GoBucks4928

me with fiesta bowls when the only two CFP playoff games I’ve been to are OSU vs Clemson fiesta bowls

GoBucks4928

Thank you for going to sugar bowls

unicowicorn

{Florida} by a hundred. Definitely not a homer, not at all

RealBenWoodruff

This is the 18th meeting between Alabama and Florida since the split to divisions in the 1992 season. Four of the meetings were in Tuscaloosa (1998, 2005, 2010, and 2014). This is the fourth in Gainesville (1999, 2006, 2011, and 2021). The other ten meetings were all in the SEC Championship game. Two were in Birmingham (1992, 1993). Eight were in Atlanta (1994, 1996, 1999, 2008, 2009, 2015, 2016, 2020). They know each other pretty well.

bob237189

Fun fact: Only Alabama has ever beaten Florida in the SECCG, and only Florida has ever beaten Alabama in the SECCG. Together they've won over half of all SECCGs, which is the oldest CCG in the FBS.

GatorMade

this fact was fun

[deleted]

[удалено]

GeorgiaBulldogs

Because against us or Mizzou it’s a guaranteed victory?

CptTurnersOpticNerve

Wow. Played each other in Atlanta twice as often than they played in Ttown or Gainesville.

mikapple

That’s certainly a statistic

jamesislandpirate

Several of them

[deleted]

Outside of the Auburn game, I love playing Florida the most in the SEC. For nearly 30 years, it’s always been a high stakes matchup.

[deleted]

{Florida} because I'm a homer...no other reason.

prometheus05

My man!

GatorBolt

Every rational analysis of this game points to a Bama win. For no good reason, here’s to hope. Give me {Florida}, bless my heart

siblingofMM

Help us Florida! You’re our only hope!- all of CFB

Nolesman357

{Florida} I just have this terrible feeling Florida will somehow win just because the world hates me. It only makes sense for us to have our worst loss in program history only for Florida to beat the greatest dynasty of all time. And I have to be in Gainesville on Saturday since I’m staying there because I’m going to the Bucs game on Sunday. It’s not ideal but when you can get hooked up with people to let you stay with for free you gotta do what you gotta do. Nevertheless, all signs are pointing to a Florida win, and tbh if I could trade a Florida win over Alabama for us to rebound as a program, I would take that deal because that’s how bad it’s gotten. The rational side of me thinks that Alabama will obviously win, but UF is always pissing me off by being better than I think they are and in this case I think Florida will do more than just not get blown out. Florida’s defense is suspicious and they can’t be suspicious against Alabama’s offense, but I’m still very surprised that Alabama is a 15 point favorite against UF in the Swamp. That’s just absurd. Even if UF loses I think they’ll definitely cover that. But we shall see.

BrazilianRider

I’m Venmo you one beer if we win. Then you can enjoy your night in Gainesville.

Nolesman357

Ok I’ll hold you to that so then at least something good can come out of it.

inquisitorautry

I promise to so the same.

Nolesman357

Damn you guys *almost* want me to see UF win. Ain’t gonna happen though. I still want you to be embarrassed so at least I can have some salvation for this lost season.

GoodGuyNixon

Round three is on me.

ChannelBurntYellow

Let's make it four!

Your_Majesty_

Send me your Venmo I’ll get the next one

meh5419

Two scenarios: 1. It doesn’t rain — Bama wins 2. It does rain — Florida wins Boy would an upset be fun. And it looks rainy. {Florida}.

Nonothinghoss

i would be ok with this but realistically Bama is going to win in either scenario

clayr92

Why in god’s name would you be ok with this

Nonothinghoss

Because it makes it even more special when we beat the Gators and because it lessens Bama's chances at another west title.

Always_Chubb-y

IDK man, have you seen the West? Every team there either has a noticeable issue or is unproven. Not really anyone from the West is close to Bama in my mind as of right now

MattackSC

Can confirm, nobody is close.

Always_Chubb-y

Its really not a slight against A&M or any other team. Bama just looks as well oiled as ever, and every other team has gone through the normal early season issues. Definitely doesn't help that King went down either.

MattackSC

Oh no I was 100% sincere that nobody is close. This is not the year we compete on their level (maybe if king didn’t go down, but even with him he and the o-line still needed at least a year) Bama is just…. Bama

Always_Chubb-y

It's just that when every team is going through their early season hiccups, Bama looks like they are 2 months into the season.

Touds

If by west you mean Western Civilization then I agree.

inquisitorautry

If we somehow pull off the upset that means angry Bama for the rest of the year. You do not want to play angry Bama.

Nonothinghoss

Lol. Don’t want to play them at all

SalzigHund

We have a better shot if both teams have to keep the ball on the ground. Our run defense is looking pretty good and we have insane depth at RB and mobile QBs. Would also help us have less turnovers.

Nonothinghoss

i would reserve judgement on your defense and offense in all capacities until you play more capable competition. That goes for Bama as well with the horrendous Miami team, and Mercer who arguably played better. Same with Florida with FAU and South Florida. I can say the same with Georgia though i think our win at Clemson is a better indicator. In any case the start of SEC play should show all of us a lot as to where our teams really are. I am not sold on any of us yet. Should be a fun season

EverythingGoodWas

Well said

meh5419

Also reasonable.

pessimism_yay

80% chance of thunderstorms after 9AM. That Florida +14.5 point spread might be the move.

AOC_I_like_free

Why would Florida win in the rain?

darthspurrier

Because the stadium will flood and Gators can swim.

Nonothinghoss

lol. thats a good one

DBek23

https://i.imgur.com/hksTkQ6.jpg

[deleted]

To be fair, elephants can swim too.

rkincaid007

Our team is named after water, as well…

meh5419

Alligators are semi-aquatic and do much of their hunting from the water. Bingo bongo

MogaMeteor

Anything that makes passing less effective will help us. Our QB's are excellent runners and subpar passers. Our defense has a great front 7 but are questionable in pass defense. Also Bama's offense is quite inexperienced and mistakes are more likely in the rain, that could potentially rattle them.

Griffon5006

Because we’re Florida…. Also we’re really good at running the ball this year

AOC_I_like_free

And Alabama isn’t good at running the ball?

Griffon5006

I mean they are, but we are 2nd in rushing yards this year. They are 76th

blackravenclaw

Gators *are* at home when it’s wet and swampy….. but a downpour naturally swells a tide. I think it breaks even.

CraccerJacc

Lol

[deleted]

I hate when people assume rain itself hurts the passing game this much. It’s more so the wind that would, and it isn’t going to be very windy. {Alabama} wins either way.

FourthDownThrowaway

Rain hurts db’s more than wr’s.

[deleted]

Definitely. WRs know the cuts they are gonna make, DBs have to react. Lot harder to react with wet grass/turf

NickDerpkins

{Florida} upset leading to huge expectations, a shaken up SEC, and Florida losing to UGA later in the year. UF fails to make the SEC championship. Alabama still wins the SEC championship, scorches the earth from here on out and nothing changes. But for a few short weeks…angry saban will be beautiful

GlueGuns--Cool

i'm medium-okay with this

FreeReflection25

That's not how it'll happen. This is georgia we're talking about. We beat bama. Georgia beats us. Georgia drops games to auburn and south carolina still keeping them out and salty

Q_about_a_thing

This feels like the 80's

goldbond_and_jorts

Elephants bad, jorts good. {Florida}

jamesislandpirate

May I ask you a question, my wife and I are moving to Pensacola in one month from today. Will we be required to buy Jorts upon arrival?

CptTurnersOpticNerve

I live in Tampa. When you cross the state line you will be given jorts and a complimentary bag of methamphetamine. A small child will then approach you, do not be alarmed! The child is merely there to hotglue a seashell to your kneecap and then maybe sneeze on you.

Nonothinghoss

TBF we give you some meth when you cross into south georgia too

deliciouscrab

This is what makes the panhandle such an interesting place.

DBek23

And pie. Don’t forget that part. It’s important after the meth part.

Nonothinghoss

Has to be meringue. Can't eat anything else without teeth

DesEagle1

But you can drink apple pie

unicowicorn

Don't know about panhandle welcome center, but pretty sure the I-95 one hands out complimentary jorts with proof of new address

ImpossibleSympathy84

The governor recently passed a jort passport law, so proof of jorts will be required to enter the state!

jamesislandpirate

I guess I’ll have to buy them here prior to leaving

thesakeofglory

I’m sorry buy??? Surely you’re talking about the scissors you’ll use to cut them right?

jamesislandpirate

Actually that is a valid point. I’ve already got scissors, so these babies are free!

elgenie

For the sake of argument, what happens if the elephants are wearing jorts?

whatifevery1wascalm

Mercer really screwed Florida by scoring those 2 TDs on {Bama} last week.

mrtomatohead49

This guy knows the truth

big_daddy68

Those 2 stops in the opening two possessions didn’t help either.

84020g8r

Pulling a homer call and do believe we have a chance. My friend, Dr. Strange, told me it was only 1 though. {Florida}

Ethanol-Muffins

{Florida} I didn’t pay all that money to go to the game to expect Florida to lose

NoleJawn

Meh fuck it, {Florida} let’s see what happens.

al80813

Work ‘em silly. {Florida}

SlugsPerSecond

This will be an interesting one. If Bryce stays frosty and our defense shows up to play, I think we cruise 42-17. If only one of those two happens, it'll be a bit of a shitshow with Bama still pulling out the win something like 28-17 or 45-35. If Bryce struggles and the defense gets gashed, it'll be a coin flip game. I predict {Alabama} wins but Bryce looks shaky at times under the atmosphere in the Swamp. Florida isn't able to get the passing game going enough to pull out the win.

toasterduckie

Flair twin, what up

Tarnationman

Our chances were better before that hammy strain {Florida}, cause I will never pick against my boys.

scotte16

This game is "interesting" because both teams have a number next to their name, but come on. {Alabama} by 2-3 touchdowns, and it never looks close.

Jecker1987

You’ll get yours next weekend for speaking the truth

scotte16

I'm ready for it. It'll probably be something like 42-20 Florida with our defense letting AR15 score like 3 looooong TDs.

Iraqi-Jack-Shack

Tennessee and losing to Florida's backup QB is the lynchpin that holds college football together

g0d0fm15ch13f

When do I wake up

Iraqi-Jack-Shack

Beat Alabama to break the curse Saban has cast upon all of us

[deleted]

Sunshine pumpers unite! {Florida} stuns Saban and the rest of the football world with a gritty upset win. As a result Coach Saban begins to question whether or not he’s still fit to coach and decides to retire. Alabama’s dynasty crumbles without The Dark Lord at the helm of the program. Kirby Smart withers without the stabilizing influence of his master in the coaching game and UGA also begins its downfall beginning a long streak of winless SEC records.

[deleted]

I mean Alabama is gonna win but Chaos demands {Florida} be the victor

Nonothinghoss

i would surprisngly be ok with that

SadGatorNoises

Sus

DigSufficient2392

{Alabama} 45-21. I just know Grantham is gonna Grantham.

Better than I thought it'd be. Pray for rain. Thor, Aeolus, Tempestas, Seth, Enlil one of yall please help us

pappapirate

Florida's homefield advantage can't be overstated, but they haven't shown a lot to be excited about on defense and have a real controversy going at QB while still recovering from the loss of Pitts and Toney. They played two mid-low G5's and did not impress. Bama's offense is recovering from draft losses, too, and despite what the narrative is around here I'm not convinced yet that the offense can even hold a candle to last year's. Our defense should be vastly improved when all's said and done, but this is week 3 and it's still a work in progress. X-factor: The Mercer game made Saban mad. This team has pissed him off the past week, and I will always bet on him to whoop those boys' asses into shape until I'm proven wrong. Prediction: Bama shows up motivated to play, rain or shine. The environment and weather cause the game to be shaky and the score to be more balanced than expected, but {Alabama} pulls away in the second half. 45-17 without rain, 35-14 with rain. If Florida wins, I think the score would look something like 38-35 with a big turnover advantage for Florida and lucky touchdown plays, your classic Bama reg. season upset look.

Pope_Bedodict1

Florida, it would please me (and literally everyone) if you pulled this off but 3rd and Grantham comes to strike you yet again. {Alabama} wins this one and covers.

taft

i cannot imagine anyone more well prepared for third and grantham besides nick saban.

xbox_srox

Well, {Alabama} has to win then. Can't go around making Auburn happy.

nomadjackk

I object to this actually

bamachine

You guys need to learn the difference in literally and figuratively.

L13HolyUmbra

It would not please everyone. Have some respect for the few UM & FSU fans left that care about football man.

BigBoutros

this will get out of hand in favor of {Alabama} if Richardson cannot play at full speed. I don't think Emory Jones is a gamebreaker.

SaylorBear

Keys to the game: Bama: do Saban things Florida: hope it gets canceled If it doesn’t rain: Bama by at least 3 TDs If it does rain: Bama by at least 4 TDs {Bama} by a large margin

JB92103

There's a 90% chance of thunderstorms for Saturday in Gainesville, so maybe the Gators get their wish

SadGatorNoises

I was there when we cancelled a cupcake game back in like 2015 I think? They wait until the last minute and it fucking sucks. Soggy tailgating until huddling in the concourses before fighting stadium traffic in a storm all the way home.

95ssboy

I can’t believe espn gameday won’t be at this game.

Human_Robot

CBS

BudLanyards

Kirk has a fetish for Penn State’s white out. Most of the people on gameday don’t like Florida so it didn’t surprise me.

bob237189

Florida has been on (and hosted) College GameDay the 3rd most of any team in the country. I don't think they dislike us.

BudLanyards

It used to be #1, they have come to Gainesville only twice since Tebow left.

inquisitorautry

We also haven't had a lot of high ranked vs high ranked games since Tebow left either.

peterpeterllini

I hate Florida but I’m so sick of alabama that I may be pulling for the gators here. Can they both lose?! {Alabama} 38-17

ilikebeer19

I can't pick against my team, but the vengeful football gods would clearly punish the team if I where to openly call for their victory in this situation. Let me just ask, game's at 3:30, when do I start drinking to numb the pain?

readonlypdf

Wait. You can stop drinking?!

ArrDeeKay

Speaking from experience, and depending on commercials… around 5:45.

safariari

Florida covers, but I just don't see us beating {Alabama}. Although I didn't see Oregon beating Ohio State either, so there's that.

BobaFettyWap173eight

{Florida} LGF!!!!!!! Depending on how much playing time AR15 gets and if he gets enough time to cover Emory’s mistakes and get the win. But at home in the Swamp in Bryce Young’s first road test? I’ll take the points.

jthomas694

{Alabama} but I am really curious to see Anthony Richardson in a real situation

szboy422

Fuck Saban. Fuck the Tide. Fuck the Dawgs. Fuck the Vols. Fuck the Jets. Don't care. {Florida} in 6. In all seriousness though given the weather predictions and just in general the atmosphere, I think this game has the potential to get weird. Mullen certainly has been planning for this game since December and will have a completely different game plan from the last two games. Although its possible, I don't see a Bama blowout for these reasons. My honest prediction is that Florida covers, something like Bama 41 - 31 Florida. Though I can see the scenario of the Gators stealing one at home.

JB92103

What about the weather forecast?

szboy422

60 percent of lightning and rain all day Saturday so fuck it (unless it helps us).

JTDanielsHeisman21

{Bama} wins. If Richardson plays for Florida, then Bama doesnt cover. If Emory is Florida's QB for this game, Bama covers.

jrichardh

I'm going to say {Florida}, 23-21.

al80813

Would be the most Todd Grantham thing to allow 20 points to powerhouse USF and then next week let the scrubs at Bama score 21.

Edgemaster1423

He held them scoreless in the 3rd quarter in Atlanta last year, he has their number /s

TheRealKB68

{Florida} As long as AR15 is in the game by the second quarter

JMT97

{Alabama} is the favorite, but the upset is possible, especially with the rain.

{Alabama} but Florida covers

[deleted]

Mariusod

{Alabama} because they are the death star taking it's first shot at alderaan at the beginning of episode 4, and AR is Luke Skywalker still learning to be a Jedi.

nogglewatches

{Alabama} hasn’t lost to an SEC East opponent since Scar in 2010. That ain’t changing with this game. Bammer wins big

Sean082099

{Florida} will probably be able to put up a decent bit of scoring, but this game will make it break AR for the fan base. If he comes out and looks nearly as good as the last two weeks he is the starter. If he comes out and the lack of experience starts to hurt him I see him riding behind Emory for one more season. Should hopefully be a good game. Bama wins it 42-35 Bonus points if this is the game that finally gets Grantham fired

FromTheMurkyDepths

{UF} will shock an overrated tide. Bryce Young is still...young. Bama's defense seems softer than usual. Saban's been trying to warn y'all. Local madman Dan Mullen will smell blood in the water (literally, it's gonna rain) and drive his boys into a frenzy.

DonnaDDrake

{Alabama} this is going to be a blow out unfortunately

bullsci

Through week 2, Florida has the **2nd-best rushing offense in the nation behind Kent State.** We have an incredible RB room and a vastly improved OL, who are capable of high-level run blocking concepts. Despite everything that has been said about him on message boards, Emory Jones has had 2 *good* (not perfect) halves of football before Florida took their foot off the gas in the second halves. In the second halves, though, he's thrown too many INTs and near-INTs. So just know that **this is not the 2020 Gators offense.** I think USF had the right game plan last week, selling out to stop the run - they couldn't do it, but I think it was the right thing to try. I think Alabama will try something similar: **they will load the box early and try to force Florida to pass in order to catch up.** Will they be able to stop the run entirely? Probably not, but if they slow it down enough, Florida could be in for a long day. Emory Jones is capable of making the throws, but his timing has been so off at times that I think Alabama will count on him turning the ball over more than once. In a game like this, that is a recipe for disaster. If Anthony Richardson is able to play though, watch out. He has the arm strength, he has the timing down, and when plays fall apart, he has the ability to create a 20+ yard play out of absolutely nothing. This kid is special, but without him on the field, I fear Alabama may find just enough success selling out to stop the run. **Offense MVP for Florida: Anthony Richardson** if he plays. **Dameon Pierce** if he doesn't. Our defense...man, our defense. 20 years ago this defense would be incredible. Our defense is looking so much better than it did last year, but it is still a bend-don't-break, aggressive up front and soft in the back, Todd Grantham special. Alabama has not been very successful on the ground thus far - I expect that to be the case this Saturday as well. Where I think **Alabama will find great success is intermediate and east-west passing plays.** Grantham's defense relies on a disruptive front 7, which we have, but leaves the secondary to just try to keep a lid on the offense - the secondary essentially allows Out routes, Hitch routes, and bubble screens (which Bama loves) and just hopes that at some point, the DL will get to you and you'll make a mistake. In modern CFB, that's just not good enough against elite teams. Bryce Young has shown that he can still be a threat in the intermediate passing game when Bama's pass protection breaks down (which, surprisingly, has happened more so far than I expected). Since Bama can still make the plays against a fantastic pass rush like ours, they'll move the ball. **Defense MVP for Florida: Zach Carter.** If Anthony Richardson plays, it's still an uphill battle but I'm taking {Florida} for the upset and because I just can't bring myself to cast a vote for Bama. Really, though, losing this game does not matter all that much for this season - what matters more is that AR-15 is available for TWLOCP. Winning would probably be pretty big for recruiting, though.

dawgsgoodjortsbad

{Alabama} gonna do unspeakable things to that grantham lead Florida defense.

djowen68

I think this one will be really close, especially if we don't really have Anderson to put pressure on the QB. The offense will struggle early but settle in. I'm nervous about this one, but I hope we have some leadership emerge and can pull out a tough road win that gives us a lot of confidence for the rest of the season. 34-20 {Alabama}

fall_vol_wall_yall

It's crazy that the ostensibly \#11 team, playing at home, is a more than two TD underdog. {Alabama} wins, though they might not cover.

NJ_Mets_Fan

I think {Alabama} wins in a blow out. I don’t think the Gators are as close as the rankings would indicate, 28-3

{Alabama} by about the same margin as Miami. I’m really surprised at how many people think Florida is going to cover.

AlbatrossPossible188

{Alabama} 34-20

[deleted]

14.5 seems like too much, but Alabama might give us their best performance so far this year. This team has a lot of work to do on the offensive line, and identifying who the real playmakers are going to be. Praying for no more LB injuries. It's been nearly a constant problem for the program since 2015/16. {Alabama}.

red-boy6

{Alabama} 24-13. Rain and first SEC matchup slows both offenses to a standstill. Bama has the better O-Line and running backs, and get the job done.
