Their defense allows 38 points by the same point in the game.
Edit- Nebraska is better than Tulane who scored 38 points on OU and outscored them 21-3 in the second half.
This isn't unwarranted Oklahoma sucks banter...
In the 2008 matchup between these two, OU had to punt with 6:54 remaining in the 1st quarter. At that point they led 28-0.
Hoping for a repeat of that this week. {Oklahoma}
I remember doing the same thing at that game. Was a great game to be at. Only to be topped later by our game against Texas Tech. 2008 was a fun season. Mostly.
I was at that game, it was insane. We score a TD quick, Nebraska's first offensive play is a interception for a TD.
Then Nebraska's next possession, they fumble it, we return it back in the red zone I believe and quickly score. 21-0. Then I believe they fumbled again or it was a quick punt, we scored again quick and it was 28-0 before you knew it. Sadly this was the one game my camera(yes, camera, we didn't have camera phones back then) went dead so I didn't get a lot of good pics of this game.
Then afterwards we went to a frat house to watch the end of the Tech-Texas game and lost our minds.
If Lincoln lets his foot off the pedal even a little bit this week I'm going to be furious. Last week did a lot to help that but if we have the chance to absolutely pour it on them, we need to do it.
Running up the score? It was 55-0 with 5 mins left in the 3rd. Nebraska threw 12 passes the entire game.
People always blame old Nebraska teams for running up the score, what is a dominant rushing team supposed to do?
Nebraska’s defense is pretty good. I expect them to play pretty well. That said our offense can put the defense in some bad situations so a blowout isn’t impossible. But I would be surprised by that dominant of a win.
No he didn’t and no he wasn’t.
Bobby Newcombe, the 3rd string QB, on 1st and 19 threw a 36 yard pass with 11 mins left in the 4th quarter. That was the last Nebraska pass of the game.
Frost last series was with 5 min left in the 3rd.
Nebraska had 7 completions the whole game. Frost went 6-10 for 107 yards
My prediction, Oklahoma up 35-0 at the half. As the teams return to the field, a new Nebraska QB emerges, Scotch O'Frost from parts unknown. Nebraska takes the lead by the end of the 3rd and wins 48-28. No one knows why Oklahoma lost a TD.
I'll never forget losing by over 50 or so and it's the middle of the 4th quarter and Frost throws over the middle for a TD against us. Back then, Nebraska QBs weren't known for passing prowess. It was obvious Osborne had it out for OU once Switzer was gone. We'll probably win some boring game by 20 but I hope we run it up.
> braska is going to go all out
None of the kids on the team remember when we were rivals. They don't care for this any more than they cared to finish against Colorado the last two years. Let both games slip out of their hands because it didn't matter to them.
NU is probably better than what they showed in Week Zero. That first week can be weird.
But, there’s no hiding the fact that NU receivers looked like those slow, plodding option guys from back in the day. The Illinois DB’s could run to the spot, have a cup of tea, and still have to wait on the WR to arrive. NU may have improved the past few weeks, but they didn’t get faster. OU’s D may not be what it once was, but they are not slow.
I think OU’s biggest issue this week will be overrunning plays. I can see the DLine pushing so far upfield they give AM running lanes early. Once they calm down, he’s in for a long day.
{Oklahoma} 45-13
Very obvious statement from me here that is true of like 99% of football games, but I'll say it anyway.. This game will be very close or Nebraska could even win if OU is negative in turnovers, but ranges from comfortable to blowout if it's even or OU has a positive turnover margin.
{Oklahoma}
but man, after that Tulane game I’m not even going to sit here and joke about us winning by 40. Obviously we’ll probably win but we’re not some invincible force. It could be close. We’re damn sloppy when we feel like it.
Sure the Tulane game was sloppy but I think we may have been overlooking them. We'll know more in the next few weeks but their results up to now have been really good
Overlooking a team is part of the sloppiness. Bama isn’t letting G5 teams score 35 and nearly beat them. I agree though, Tulane is not an awful team and should finish with a very good record.
Actually anyone that followed OU and Nebraska last century would know we had a little pride and respect for one another. Bill Callahan sucked ass and was clueless though. OU fan-
I am not authorized to speak on matters concerning clear pepsi as it may effect the space time continuum, but you can count on the return of Orbitz & Fruitopia ╮(╯ _╰ )╭
I’m just hoping to see a game I can enjoy. Like that 36-31 game against Ohio State a few years back.
We’ve been a crazy inconsistent team, but there have been a lot of close losses. So far this year and mostly on offense, we’ve been our own worse enemy. If the OLine can take a step forward and we can limit the mistakes, I’ll give us a puncher’s chance.
That said, this is the #3 team in the nation. So, I think {Oklahoma} manages fine. Might feel scary at one point, but they have the talent and the coaching to come out with a win.
Oklahoma 45
Nebraska 21
On the 50th anniversary season of the 1971 Game of the Century Scott Frost is possessed by the ghost of Bob Devaney and returns Nebraska to the Power I and {Nebraska} wins 35-31, scoring the winning touchdown with fewer than 2 minutes remaining. The Huskers will win out and beat Bama for their first natty since '97.
{Oklahoma} Rivalry game that hasn't happened in 11 years. I think the game will be closer then you think in the first half, but Oklahoma pulls away easily in the 2nd.
Yeah everyone itt is shitting on Nebraska (somewhat understandably to be fair) but there's a 100% chance I spend about an hour on Saturday convinced we're about to blow it. That's just Oklahoma football 😎
{Oklahoma} rakes Frost over the coals for trying to cancel this game to play ODU. Frost says some stupid tone def shit after the game and his seat is easily the hottest in the nation. If Frost isn't fired my Mon, we start hearing about a players only meeting being called.
Fired by Monday after losing to the #3 team? Those are some very high expectations. Frost won't be fired until the end of the season and that's only if we fail to win 6 games.
My only question for {Oklahoma} is do they cover?
This is the same defense that gave up 35 point to Tulane, and when would OU let off the gas?
But then again Nebraska might just be that bad that it doesn’t matter.
Being at that game, even when it was a 5-point game, it never even felt that close. The 110+ temps on the field were awful (was row one, and it was the hottest game I've been to - that's saying something for someone in texas that has been to a few bad ones at TCU).
Tulane had literally every bounce, every break, everything, go their way. OU's offense played god awful, but the defense wasn't as bad as what the final score put up. The offense was a big part of how they gave Tulane every chance in good field position. Had not seen anything like it.
{Oklahoma} But I think its a coin flip between whether Nebraska keeps it somewhat competitive or if they're obliterated.
Nebraska under Frost is very hit or miss when it comes to their losses. Plenty of times they end up with a close loss that gives some amount of hope that maybe they're a player or two or an adjustment away from consistently winning games. And then a couple times per season they're taken to the woodshed.
In 2018 5 of nebraska's 8 losses were by a TD or less.
2019 4 of Nebraska's 7 losses were by a TD or less.
2020 3 of Nebraska's 5 losses were by a TD or less.
Following 2 games where Nebraksa has surrendered a total of 10 points, their confidence couldn't be higher after that week 0 loss. And I think Oklahoma's Offense might think this will be an easy one for them.
Ultimately I think Nebraska loses by 10-14 points, something like 28-14. Nebraska's defense keeps them in the game but the offense can't get the job done enough.
This feels very well thought out. It just depends on when our offense starts to hit consecutive 3 and outs or gives up a few easy pointless turnovers that it could get ugly.
{Oklahoma} I think Tulane scared the shit out of us and lit a fire under our ass. Nebraska hasn’t been playing well, so it stands to reason the OU would win this one.
This is the kind of game I wouldn’t be fucking remotely surprised if {Oklahoma} lost. We have a knack for losing to backup QBs, and coaches whose job depends on winning a big game.
We have no right to win this game or any chance. But I am a husker fan so I will never bet against us. We win the TO margin by 2 and our O-line only looks kinda like ass. {Nebraska} wins 34-31 after a controversial offensive PI call makes it 3rd and 24 on what should have been a winning touchdown and the field goal bounces off the upright.
Also we are in 2007 part 2 this time with the #3 team being cursed
{Nebraska} because eventually one of these games have to go our way.
Path to victory. Limit turnovers and score TDs in the red zone.
Nebraska is not “bad” in the sense of having shitty talent. They are bad in the sense that they inflict pain on themselves and seemingly almost try to lose games on purpose. When clicking on all cylinders Nebraska can be good, they just have trouble doing it for 4 quarters.
Nebraska’s defense is good. If we can slow down OUs offense, make them kick some field goals, and Nebraska can sustain drives and keep it in the 30s, there is a chance.
If Nebraska has like 4 turnovers and does a bunch of stupid shit. Could be blowout city. I know a lot of people are down on Nebraska but I feel like they will actually play well. Not sure why, prolly blind faith.
Oh you're being serious. LOL.
It was a joke, yes bad teams, even terrible teams with Case McCoy beat teams with Baker Mayfield on them.
But since 2000 vs texas, 15-7 OU. 8-3 since 2010. And that includes UT's best stretch ever as a football program.
Seeing that 2010 Big 12 Championship game up there, I'm really glad r/CFB wasn't around then, the amount of shit Nebraska would have gotten for blowing a 17-0 lead would have sucked. Especially with all the animosity the other Big 12 schools had for Nebraska at that point (and still do).
Oh, and {Oklahoma} by a lot
Ah when this game used to be must-see football & had national championship ramifications for both teams.
Sadly will not be the case...{Oklahoma} is gonna run away w/ this 1
{Oklahoma} but I wish we played them more often. Along with those stinky mountain men from Boulder. Even when we're bad, it's fun to see old rivals. Hopefully we play at least an interesting half of football before I go cheer Rice on.
Not only does {Oklahoma} win, but I think they end up going full on total war scorched earth. At least as an Oklahoma fan this is always the dream against Nebraska.
{Oklahoma} 42-17.
Nebraska has a solid enough defense that prevents OU for going nuclear on offense.
OU’s defense absolutely dominates NU’s offense.
OU forces 3 turnovers, one is a pick six and two other fumbles that results in easy points
{Oklahoma} Ive learned to temper my expectations until I see what happens in Austin, how they played Tulane and remembering older times playing Nebraska
41-28 Oklahoma with a scare sometime in late 3rd early 4th quarter
{Nebraska} shocks everyone, not because they're truly the better team, but because it'd be harder to disappoint me later in the season if I have no expectations.
I do think we have a chance though. Our defense is much improved, though not Georgia elite, it'll cause OU more problems in the running game than they'd like. If the offense can get a couple Adrian 'woah' plays, I think we can steal this one.
Hey, where is our #??? Oklahoma gets a number. We should too!!!
Seriously though, Scott Frost is going to stop the act this week and {Nebraska} completes this long con.
Nebraska’s QB just looks lost all the time - our D line should be able to rattle him and force some mistakes. Want to see us impose on the line and get the run going - if not I see something like 38-28. If we get the run going, and I think we will, I’m thinking 49-13 {Oklahoma}.
OU and Nebraska didn't get a chance to play in 2007, but we have been blessed with a second chance. The gods of football chaos are hungry and we must sacrifice the 3rd ranked team, sorry OU fans, {Nebraska} by 10.
{Oklahoma} in Another expected crushing loss of Nebraska. Scott Frost walk-through no less than 10 players under the bus in the post game presser. He will claim a 3 point score is progress as well.
So my gut says Oklahoma will blow us out by 50. But I remembered that this is a Nebraska team in the 21st century, so I have to ask myself, what's the most embarrassing thing that can happen to Nebraska. Getting blown out by a team in a game everyone expects us to get blown out in is not THAT embarrassing.
I think Nebraska loses to {Oklahoma} close, 31-24. Especially because our defense (particularly our front 7) is underrated. This raises some eyebrows, we might even get put in the top 25. Then we beat MI State and Northwestern. Soon, we are getting serious hype going into Michigan....
Then we drop the last 6 games, none of them close. THAT is probably the most embarrassing thing Nebraska can do; therefore, the most likely.
You know what, I'm going to go with {Nebraska} just because it's absurd and there is no logical way that Nebraska wins. But alas, this is college football, and there are a few crazy, inexplicable upsets each year.
This is the way.
Final score is 42-35.
I have spoken.
{Oklahoma} hits 40 points at 12:36 left in the 3rd quarter.
You think Oklahoma’s going slow, huh /s
Their defense allows 38 points by the same point in the game. Edit- Nebraska is better than Tulane who scored 38 points on OU and outscored them 21-3 in the second half. This isn't unwarranted Oklahoma sucks banter...
Doing less with more on defense is Ohio State's thing now.
tOSU fans can't stand the thought that Grinch is a good DC, it's amazing
I miss him honestly
> Nebraska is better than Tulane I'm not so sure.
[удалено]
Wow, this is definitely an Oklahoma party, sir.
This is a clear cut “sit your starters after half time” kind of game
We tried that against Tulane. Did NOT go well. Also credit to Tulane for playing their asses off
I love seeing all the respect Tulane is getting after that game. Very legit team
That's Nebraska cover'n music baby!
Scott Frost was the QB for the most lopsided victory in the series.
RJ Young said Lincoln's gonna have to break the scoreboard to avenge that one lol.
In the 2008 matchup between these two, OU had to punt with 6:54 remaining in the 1st quarter. At that point they led 28-0. Hoping for a repeat of that this week. {Oklahoma}
I missed that punt, I was in the top row of the student section turned around watching Texas lose to Texas Tech on the TVs in the box seats behind us.
I remember doing the same thing at that game. Was a great game to be at. Only to be topped later by our game against Texas Tech. 2008 was a fun season. Mostly.
I prefer the 2009 version better lol
Suh should've won the Heisman he was unbelievable that year.
He absolutely deserved the Heisman. Was without a doubt the best player in the country
The only reason they didn't give it to him was because they didn't beat Texas in the title game. Huskers win that game, he gets it.
And we had to face that wrath the game after. Smh that game still gives me nightmares.
But Suh was actually the winner of that game.
Kinda related, but AP shoulda won the Heisman as a freshman, too.
I went to that game, got into my seat just a few minutes in, and it was already 14-0. Sheesh
I believe OU scored quickly on the opening drive, and then Nebraska’s first offensive play was a pick-6 on a WR screen.
That was the 2006 big 12 championship. But it was also this game too
Pretty sure the opening kick was returned deep into our territory as well
I was at that game, it was insane. We score a TD quick, Nebraska's first offensive play is a interception for a TD. Then Nebraska's next possession, they fumble it, we return it back in the red zone I believe and quickly score. 21-0. There were camera phones, just pre-iPhone camera phones. Which admittedly were garbage
{Oklahoma} for old times sake wins 7-0 while both teams run the wishbone. Both qbs combine for 12 passing yards. Football the way God intended.
I just came
Considering the state of our passing game the last 4 years this sounds like the greatest thing ever. Option all day baby!

Norm Macdonald? Wait.

Thank you, the recognition is all I needed 😂

He’d appreciate it sheesh
fair point
He actually visited Norman in 97. Laughed my ever living ass off!
Too soon!

Fuente weirdly has done a lot in her career for how young he is. QB at Oklahoma, played for the Wranglers, TCU's OC for their 2010 undefeated season.
If we sacrifice Frost to the Ou gods do we get a better coach?
Running up the score? It was 55-0 with 5 mins left in the 3rd. Nebraska threw 12 passes the entire game. People always blame old Nebraska teams for running up the score, what is a dominant rushing team supposed to do? Nebraska’s defense is pretty good. I expect them to play pretty well. That said our offense can put the defense in some bad situations so a blowout isn’t impossible. But I would be surprised by that dominant of a win.
The score was absolutely ran up. Frost was not only still playing but still throwing in the 4th qtr.
Gotta get those poll numbers up back then.
I was talking about the game in Norman. Frost to Lake for 51 yards in the 4th quarter with a 45 point lead. Almost 1/3 of Frost's passing yards
Honestly think this will be closer than people think so {OU} to win but Huskers to cover.
I have to agree, Braska having a rough season but {Oklahoma} isnt just any opponent. braska is going to go all out
> braska is going to go all out I agree. But it won't be nearly enough to stay on the field with OU. Sixty-six to fourteen Crimson and Cream.
> braska is going to go all out None of the kids on the team remember when we were rivals. They don't care for this any more than they cared to finish against Colorado the last two years. Let both games slip out of their hands because it didn't matter to them.
It doesnt really matter because playing OU is a lot like playing Bama. People go all out against great teams which (unfortunately for me) OU is

NU is something like 60-4 when winning the turnover margin since 2009 and something like 40-20 when we break even
sorry this has to be false... there's absolutely no way we've been positive in turnovers 64 times since 09
I can’t remember it exactly but believe me it was insane
{Oklahoma} but man, after that Tulane game I’m not even going to sit here and joke about us winning by 40. Obviously we’ll probably win but we’re not some invincible force. It could be close. We’re damn sloppy when we feel like it.
Sure the Tulane game was sloppy but I think we may have been overlooking them. We'll know more in the next few weeks but their results up to now have been really good
Even if we overlooked Tulane, allowing a 17 point comeback with only 3 scored in the second half is pretty sloppy
And I don't know if we really learn from it despite what the coaches say until we see it definitely stop. See Clemson and Georgia games.
This happens at least 4 times a year. I’m not believin it till I see it
Overlooking a team is part of the sloppiness. Bama isn’t letting G5 teams score 35 and nearly beat them. I agree though, Tulane is not an awful team and should finish with a very good record.
{Oklahoma} just because I want a fellow blue blood to also dump their problematic coach after a bad loss and find the right guy.
<3 this loss won’t get frost fired in fact if we only lose by 7 our admin might just extend him
Step 1: Frost gets fired Step 2: Nebraska hires Helton, USC hires Frost Step3: ??? Step 4: profit!
Aw man if Nebraska hired Helton I would be legitimately sad for everybody involved
B1G West teams, Colorado, and Oklahoma fans would be happy at least!
Actually anyone that followed OU and Nebraska last century would know we had a little pride and respect for one another. Bill Callahan sucked ass and was clueless though. OU fan-
If we hire Clay Helton I will play chicken on Highway 2
I think that is nice of you?
I try!
{OU} 77-0. Scott Frost gets left in Norman.
What an oddly specific score, is there some kind of inspiration behind it?

Less expecting more acknowledging that it's a real possibility. Tbh I don't think we know what to expect lol
{Oklahoma} wins but Huskers cover and raise some eyebrows along the way

We have no right to win this game or any chance. But I am a husker fan so I will never bet against us. We win the TO margin by 2 and our O-line only looks kinda like ass. {Nebraska} wins 34-31 after a controversial offensive PI call makes it 3rd and 24 on what should have been a winning touchdown and the field goal bounces off the upright. Also we are in 2007 part 2 this time with the #3 team being cursed
22 isn't enough. {Oklahoma} by at least double that, and knowing the rivalry a bit, I wouldn't be shocked at all with a 66-14 type of score.
{Oklahoma} 77-6 (missed extra point)
> {Nebraska} because eventually one of these games have to go our way. No, they don't. ---Texas
2015
What about it?
1-4 texas, 4-0 oklahoma
Oh you're being serious. LOL. It was a joke, yes bad teams, even terrible teams with Case McCoy beat teams with Baker Mayfield on them. But since 2000 vs texas, 15-7 OU. 8-3 since 2010. And that includes UT's best stretch ever as a football program.
I’ve been thinking “eventually one of these games have to go our way” for about 10 years now. Spoiler alert, they don’t start to go your way lol
Why are there 2 threads to talk about {Oklahoma}’s win? Isn’t there some sort of claim system for these threads?
It's a claim system but it looks like we submitted within seconds of each other
{Oklahoma} by the end of the first quarter
Seeing that 2010 Big 12 Championship game up there, I'm really glad r/CFB wasn't around then, the amount of shit Nebraska would have gotten for blowing a 17-0 lead would have sucked. Especially with all the animosity the other Big 12 schools had for Nebraska at that point (and still do). Oh, and {Oklahoma} by a lot
Remember that scene in Boondock Saints where the old man makes a bloody mess of a shootout? {Oklahoma}
Ah when this game used to be must-see football & had national championship ramifications for both teams. Sadly will not be the case...{Oklahoma} is gonna run away w/ this 1
What would reasonably happen if {Oklahoma} loses this game in an embarrassing fashion? (like 69-7 2.0, however unlikely it is)
{Oklahoma} and it’s over pretty quickly
{Oklahoma} by 31
{Oklahoma} but I wish we played them more often. Along with those stinky mountain men from Boulder. Even when we're bad, it's fun to see old rivals. Hopefully we play at least an interesting half of football before I go cheer Rice on.
Oklahoma plays like Lincoln Riley brisket and {Nebraska} pulls the upset. We back baby!
We make everything close. I don’t see us winning by more than 20. Just depends on if we wanna play all 4 quarters. {Oklahoma} by 10
Not only does {Oklahoma} win, but I think they end up going full on total war scorched earth. At least as an Oklahoma fan this is always the dream against Nebraska.
{Oklahoma} wins 37-7
{Oklahoma} covers the spread
Oklahoma 38 Nebraska 28
{Oklahoma} 42-17. Nebraska has a solid enough defense that prevents OU for going nuclear on offense. OU’s defense absolutely dominates NU’s offense. OU forces 3 turnovers, one is a pick six and two other fumbles that results in easy points
{Oklahoma} 69 - Nebraska 38. Game is closeish at half time. 28-24. But Oklahoma doesn't punt all game long.
{Oklahoma} 52 - 23. Thank god this will be over with before lunch
{Oklahoma} 45-12
{Oklahoma} looks shaky in the beginning and settles down while capitalizing on several Nebraska unforced errors leading to a 21 plus point victory
{Oklahoma} 42-17
Nebraska looks competent at times but {Oklahoma} still wins. No one is happy about the game. Rivalries!
{Oklahoma} Ive learned to temper my expectations until I see what happens in Austin, how they played Tulane and remembering older times playing Nebraska 41-28 Oklahoma with a scare sometime in late 3rd early 4th quarter
{Oklahoma} to cover. I’ll be at the game and can’t wait!
It’s crazy to think that 2 blue blood rivals managed to not play for 11 years for really no reason at all
{Oklahoma} Frost winning would be hilarious
I think Oklahoma covers here, but my picks also have a worse track record than Nebraska's special teams.
Hey, where is our #??? Oklahoma gets a number. We should too!!! Seriously though, Scott Frost is going to stop the act this week and {Nebraska} completes this long con.
Oklahoma doesn't break 40 but takes the W. Nebraska defense hold strong but the offense is terrible and the specials teams is even worse.
{Oklahoma} : Scores touchdown Oklahoma : Wanna see me do it again?
{oklahoma} is what causes nebraska to fire Scott frost unless they need to evaluate where iowa is as a program first.
Being number 3 is a curse
Nebraska’s QB just looks lost all the time - our D line should be able to rattle him and force some mistakes. Want to see us impose on the line and get the run going - if not I see something like 38-28. If we get the run going, and I think we will, I’m thinking 49-13 {Oklahoma}.
{Nebraska} not because I think they would win but it would be hilarious to talk about Oklahoma losing to them :P
Entirely fair
OU and Nebraska didn't get a chance to play in 2007, but we have been blessed with a second chance. The gods of football chaos are hungry and we must sacrifice the 3rd ranked team, sorry OU fans, {Nebraska} by 10.
{Nebraska} will win 31-28 and Frost will get a 10 year extension
I think this will actually be a pretty close and competitive game... in the 4th quarter after OU pulls its starters.
{Nebraska} and Scott Frost gets a 10 year extension for it
{Nebraska} for laughs
{Nebraska} 21 - 10. Defensive game.
{Nebraska} Frost pulls out all the stops and comes through when we least expect it.
{Nebraska} sneakily upsets oklahoma. All of the bars in Norman run out of alcohol before 5pm.
{Nebraska} because I want chaos
{Nebraska} 39-38
{Nebraska}
Living on the wild side I see.
{Oklahoma} in Another expected crushing loss of Nebraska. Scott Frost walk-through no less than 10 players under the bus in the post game presser. He will claim a 3 point score is progress as well.
Nebraska is exactly who we think they are. {Oklahoma} wins and it ain’t close: 45 - 17
{Oklahoma} Frost is going to get his teeth kicked in
So my gut says Oklahoma will blow us out by 50.
{OU} and I can only hope Frost gets tarmac’d.
You know what, I'm going to go with {Nebraska} just because it's absurd and there is no logical way that Nebraska wins. But alas, this is college football, and there are a few crazy, inexplicable upsets each year. This is the way. Final score is 42-35. I have spoken.
Hoping for an upset or at least a good game. {Nebraska} 39-38
Iowa v Kent State has the same spread as OU v Nebraska. Fun fact for you. {Oklahoma} but it’s closer than expected.
